✧ Stan is the kinda guy who thinks emojis are a scam, but somehow, he figured out how to use the "thumbs up" and "money bag" emoji. so, expect a lot of those in your chats.

✧ his text tone is rough, a little misspelled, typed like he's yelling even when he isn’t. Half of his texts are in all caps, and he absolutely does not care about grammar. but he gets the point across, always.

✧ you’re getting messages at 3 am about some ‘brilliant’ scheme to make a quick buck. he’ll send, “LISTEN, doll, what if we made... GIANT… glitter-filled eggs for easter? Tourists'll go NUTS." you reply, half-asleep, with “Stan, ily but go to bed." and all you get back is a “🤬 YOU GOTTA THINK BIGGER!”

✧ Stan sends those weird chain messages he swears are from some “hotshot businessman” that’ll make you rich in a week. and when you don’t respond immediately, you get a: “Fine, Miss Doubtful, see you when I’m rolling in gold.”

✧ there are whole days where he just floods your phone with random, blurry photos of some new Mystery Shack "artifact" he found. It’s usually junk he picked up at a garage sale, like a “haunted” ashtray or some knock-off painting that’s “probably ancient.”

✧ If he’s feeling sappy (and tipsy): you might get a rare “thinking bout you, sweet thing” at 2 am. but if you try to call him on it the next day, he’ll just be like “Didn’t say that. You’re makin’ stuff up.”

✧ when he’s really riled up about something, though? then his messages are just. . . a stream of caps-lock curses, mixed with misspelled attempts to describe whatever nonsense he just got himself into. you just sit back and let him rant; he’ll cool off eventually.

✧ and the voice messages are something else. they sound like he’s talking through a fan half the time. one minute, he’s rambling about how tourists are “the dumbest suckers on the planet” and the next, he’s ranting about how “bigfoot definitely broke into the shack last night!"

✧ hehehehe he’s like an old-school emailer who’s just now getting the hang of messaging apps. texts in complete sentences, full punctuation, like he’s drafting a dissertation.

✧ He sends you whole paragraphs at random hours, talking about some discovery he’s made, like he’s reporting directly to NASA. you’re like, “Ford, it's just a weird-looking squirrel." and he's already typing another essay about its "possible interdimensional origins."

✧ once in a while, he’ll send you a message that says, “Are you awake?” at, like 3 am followed by a string of thoughtful yet completely bonkers hypotheses. you find it cute, though, his mind never stops, not even for a second.

✧ If he’s feeling bold, you might even get a “hypothetical” confession out of him: “Hypothetically, if one were to develop... strong emotional attachment to a certain person... how would one proceed?" You tease him about it the next day, and he gets flustered, “It was purely scientific curiosity."

✧ Ford isn’t big on emojis, but he likes the brain and alien ones, using them poetically. he’ll sign off texts with a single brain emoji, like it’s his version of a little goodbye wave.

✧ on really rare occasions, he’ll send a voice message. they’re always way too long, and it’s usually him whispering so he doesn’t wake Stan up. he goes on about cosmic rays or “gravity anomalies,” his voice dropping lower when he gets excited. you live for those moments

✧ and if he ever texts you a “good night,” you just know he’s been up thinking about it for hours, trying to figure out if it’s “appropriate.”

One Way to Repair a Broken Doll Arm

Today I'll be walking you through how I repaired this Ever After High Lizzie Hearts doll's broken arm. While I wouldn't call this a fool-proof method, and I'm not sure that this repair would hold up to being played with, if you've got a beloved doll you want to repair, this should be just fine for a doll that's mostly going to be displayed.

The best part is, this will retain the articulation of the arm and/or knee (this method will technically also work for knee joints, though knees are harder than arms to work with). So let's jump in.

Tools required: Craft Knife, Jewelry pliers, Wire (gauge depends on size of joint), Super Glue, Hot Glue, Patience.

Let's start with our patient.

I thrifted this Lizzie doll a few days ago, along with a Venus McFlytrap, as shown in the above image. As soon as I saw the taped up arm, I knew the joint was broken, but hey, she was like 80c USD. I can apply some elbow grease for that cheap. Plus it gives me an excuse to finally make this tutorial.

They went a little overkill with that much tape, but whatever works?

I cut the tape off carefully with a craft knife. I didn't take a pic of that, but I think you can image what a broken doll arm looks like. Unless you have aphantasia I guess, but that's getting off topic.

First thing I did was use the craft knife to slice along the seam lines, then pried the upper arm open (slowly. seriously go slow.) with a pair of jewelry pliers. It will leave marks on the plastic, but I can buff those out later.

Why am I doing this if the arm's already broken? I want to remove what's left of the peg that's in there. You could also drill it out if you have a dremel, but I wanted to avoid this tutorial needing power tools.

So here's the arm, pried open, with the peg removed.

To close it back up, I used a tiny bit of acetone to melt the plastic at the seams, then held it together until it hardened enough to stay in place. Leave it for a few hours to make sure it's all fully cured, then you can sand the area smooth.

And here's the arm with the broken peg.

So what now? We need to remove the peg piece that's attached to the elbow. I couldn't get a photo of that since it's a delicate process and I only have 2 hands, but here's an artist rendering that would give you the idea.

Take a craft knife, and SLOWLY. CAREFULLY. cut into the ring that surrounds the elbow joint. YOU DO NOT WANT TO GO TOO DEEP, TOO QUICKLY. YOU DO NOT WANT TO ACCIDENTALLY CUT THROUGH THE ELBOW POST. Just go nice and slow. Just chip a little out at a time until you get to the center.

Use pliers as well to pull out the rest of the bits, though you might have to cut a good bit out before you can pull the rest out.

As for my doll, the operation went successfully.

Now we've gotten past the hard part, we'll cut off a few inches of wire and string that though the elbow joint. Once through, we'll twist it until it's reasonably tight to the joint. If that makes sense.

It should look like this. Give it a test fit and cut the wire shorter as needed so there's no gap in the joint.

My test fit. Yep, I recycled this for the top photo as well. The blue is just painter's tape.

If you find you can't get it tight enough, and it feels too loose, I'd add a drop a super glue in there. Just keep moving the joint as the glue dries, and it'll add some friction so your arm will hold a pose.

Speaking of glue, I also add a dab of hot glue to the top of our new peg. The coating will add thickness that will help it stay in the upper arm. Tape works too, but hot glue holds up better.

Here's our newly repaired arm back on the doll. Aside from a slight glimmer of silver, the repair is not very obvious I think.

Lizzie can now enjoy having two functional arms again. Whoo-hoo.

While not 100% a beginner repair, it's not particularly difficult either. Just takes some patience and a reasonably steady hand.

Before I go though, some disclaimers/notes: Some wires can rust overtime, so keep an eye on your doll to make sure the wire isn't degrading and discoloring them.

Also, if you do a repair like this, then sell the doll, do let the buyer know. I feel like I shouldn't have to say that, but don't be one of those sellers okay?

This same method can be used for knees, but thighs tend to be made of a harder plastic, and it can be more difficult to pry them open to take the old, broken peg out with out major damage to the upper leg.

Speaking of hair, you would have to help him dye his hair, or shave his undercut late at night in the bathroom. Vice versa if you wanted the same color. Indulging on your favorite beverage or a little joint, giggling every time you would get a speck of dark/bright dye on each other. Or jokingly act like you buzzed too much hair to rile him up

He also solely has a folder on his phone dedicated to pictures (including a lot of candid off guards of just you two in your own little world backstage) taken by Adam and crew members of the two of you matching/coordinating

His phone background is of you sitting criss cross on a large equipment case looking down at him leaning against it trying to tune his bass, but his head is leaned back gazing up at you through his mask instead… both with space buns in your hair

Since your relationship couldn’t be public and be blaring obvious to most people you knew, III would get you two permanent bracelets. Yours would have a tiny ‘iii’ on it and his would have a tiny initial of your first name.

Even though he would have to profusely clean it after shows from the red body paint. It was something he was willing to do to carry this cheeky secret.

And somewhere in his favorites folder of his phone he has a picture of your tinier hand trying to wrap around his cock with the dainty chain hung displaying ‘iii’ clearly around your wrist

Which leads me into

🩷💚 Custom Fizzy Takara Doll 💚🩷

So I am a COMPLETE AND TOTAL NOOB when it comes to technology. and I made a lot of mistakes trying to print this Fizzy due to my own incompetence and also everyone online assuming you already kinda know something about 3d printing if you own a printer. We recieved a 3d printer as a gift and I knew Nothing about it so I reallly struggled trying to figure it out. Also my computer is ancient and had to download a like 5 year old out of date version of a 3d printing program (cura) to even get it to work. took an entire week and several failed tries T-T

FINALLY we got an attempt that was salvageable! And had to rip out all of the support beams from it. But even then there were some major mistakes:

It did not print hollow. Nobody online explained that if you want it to be hollow it wasn’t enough that the model itself had hollow parts, you have to turn off a hole setting in cura and mess with the infill or something

For some reason the bodies were Very Fucked Up? The middle and sides printed Weirdly to where, once the supports were all removed, They had no sides/shoulders. Wuh oh.

The way I combatted this was by taking extra filament plastic and a soldering iron gun to weald it on and do literal plastic surgery.

(A before and after) it looks like complete ass and is a little janky but. please be kind to her it was a major operation 😭😭😭

Then sanded things down a bit more. I know people say to sand it down until you can’t see the lines anymore but im an impatient motherfucker and only had a little bit of sandpaper so :P

Then it was painting time! Used my own fizzy to color match, painted her green with a white nose and a milkshake cutiemark. I also glued stick on gems into her eye sockets

Then the hairing! Used a sewing needle heated up with a lighter to easily poke holes into her skull! The lovely user minticat on Mlptp provided great reference images of what a takara’s hair length and hair holes look like, so I did my best to mimic that

Her hair is the closest color matches for fizzy that Shimmerlocks had: Cotton Candy pink, Angel white, Heart Throb 2.0 pink and Gusty green. Now the head isnt actually all that hollow (I hollowed it out best I could with my soldering iron but still not the best) so I couldn’t use the usual hairing method where you punch the hair in and then glue it from inside. I realized I needed to attach glue to the hair itself and then get it into the holes.

At first I was too much of a scardey cat to use my actual hairing needle in fear it would break on the plastic, so I tried a very infuriating method of putting glue on hair strands and painstakingly trying to push them into the holes with a pin. This was awful. I quickly gave up, braved up and grabbed my rehairing needle. Punched the hair in after applying glue to the hair, and it worked out surprisingly well!

All that was left was to 1) String the doll using elastic bands to tie the legs and arms into place but still make sure they were moveable. 2) GENTLY trim, wash and style the hair (using buggys special method of getting tiny curly curls. 3) Figure out the head

I originally wanted to make a neckplug for her out of clay as you see here but it didnt work too well. The plastic of the doll is much harder than the clay and it kept breaking after trying to put the head on. So I accepted I would have to glue the head on in place (It cant turn, unlike the arms and legs 😔) You can also see i used some clay to patch up a crack in the plastic that formed (which I had to paint over again)

FINAL STEP was making the dress!!! I forgot to take ANY pictures of that ùwú Not that pictures would be useful to you guys as I kinds fuckin winged it and made up a pattern as I went. I think its adorable, but in the future I would make it a little bigger (the back doesnt fit quite right). Maybe if theres interest I’ll fix up the pattern so its better and share another doll dress tutorial with the class? 😳 sound off in the comments below haha

Lately I've been slowly making my way through The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles! I play it in bed each night to settle in before I go to sleep. It's like a good book. The fickleness of the jurors always makes me laugh.

Another recent one I liked: Thank Goodness You're Here! It's basically a little interactive animated movie. Matt Berry is in it. I once saw it described as "Untitled Twat Game"

Deadly Premonition is the worst game I've ever played by conventional standards, but I'd still recommend it because it's bad in really fun ways. Bring some friends and a case of beer.

I like games that provoke a strong reaction. I'd rather play something like DP than a "good" big-budget game that's smooth and pleasing but not all that memorable.

Also on the topic of weird games: This is the secret best channel on YouTube. The more you watch, the better it gets. I mean idk, maybe other people don't see it and I'm just deranged. Still though. I've cried laughing at some of these.

I don't often try to go for a specific texture, but when I do it can be tricky. In real life I love soft jersey knit fabric. Despite my best efforts, I haven't been able to nail it in 2D in a way that really scratches that kinky itch.

In general, my drawings rarely come out the way I pictured them in my head. (I think that's how it is for most artists?) If it's looking really off then I might redraw a character or body part from scratch, but for the most part I just go with the flow.

It feels exciting to just go totally off the wall. I get turned on not just by drawing these, but also posting them. I guess it's kind of a public humiliation/exhibitionism thing. (Actually, that's exactly what it is.)

I used to put them up on Twitter, but it got a little too weird and embarrassing. Now I keep them behind the safety of the paywall.

Before Jane Doe, there was The Painted Doll 👻

When I was fresh out of high school I REALLY got into Repo: The Generic Opera while I worked at a haunted house and because of that I also got into The Devil’s Carnival, and like many people before me I LOVED the Painted Doll’s design.

A friend of mine hit me up to do a carnival themed drag show and so I decided to perform Prick! Goes the Scorpion’s Tail as one of my acts. It took me 4 days on and off and the entirety of yesterday to make the skirt and hot glue all the tulle pieces together as well as string up the bodice. This is the first time I’ve had a hand in making cosplay from scratch/bits and pieces and I’M SO PROUD OF MYSELF AND HOW IT TURNED OUT 😭❤️ sorry for the not so great background haha but definitely fancier pics coming soon for spooky season! 👻

Heya! Minnie here. Wanted to tell you about every Companion Cube I have. Just so I can send you pics of them (maybe) and you won’t get confused.

A Companion Cube is an inanimate object that a person is deeply attached to. Doesn’t need to be a literal cube.

First, there’s my gadgets.

I used to have a laptop named Pink Machine, but I broke him, and we had to replace him with Daniel. Daniel is this big silvery chunk of metal who is for some reason called a laptop. He’s dumb as a pile of bricks and I love him.

There’s also my dumbass phone, Roma, short for Roman. He’s an idiot who would regularly fall and break until I gave him a name, now he doesn’t anymore (but he can).

I also have an ipad. Her name is Denise. Unlike the boys, she never got broken in any way. Good for you, Denise.

I think my trusty steed, the scooter named Cerulean Flow, also counts. And his sister, White Lightning, who belonged to my dad and is now without a rider.

Then the stuffed toys… alright, we have Leo the cheetah cub, I sleep with him. When he’s unavailable, I sleep with either Greywing the swan fledgling or my licensed Hedwig plush.

Leo’s one of the oldest plushies I have, the other being Valera the teddy bear… he used to play the role of Paddington, but then I got a licensed Paddington plush, and I had to separate them. There’s also Seraphima the mouse that’s in my mom’s room, a Huggy Wuggy knockoff called Argus (Ari for short), and an orange cat called Jeremy.

I also have a piggy bank, but it’s not a pig, it’s a pug. Named Peri, short for Periquarameridon. He’s cute, but ceramic and, alas, not cuddly.

There’s also the Tiny Gang. It’s all the toys that are too small to be cuddled. Pik the wolf, Kitty the Hello Kitty toy, Buryonka and Tanyukha the cows, Springtime the ritual doll, Claire the octopus, Lena the pteranodon (pretty old too!), Sveta the hippo, Simka the Fixie, Vasilissa the frog, Manya the panda and Mei Lee the red panda, Gena the weird dinosaur, Mu Shu the dragon and Goose the alien masquerading as an astronaut.

There’s also the various characters I’ve made out of modeling clay. From UTDR - Frisk, Flowey, Noelle and Ralsei, from Hollow Knight - the Knight, Grimmchild, Quirrel and Tiso (not counting all the charms), from Pokémon - Latte the Eevee and Volt the Pikachu, from Little Nightmares - all the six protagonists + a nine, from Portal - only Wheatley but he’s worth a thousand. Also my own characters. Also Ida from Monument Valley.

Oh, and how could I forget my plants? The palms named Charlie and Rick, the lemon named Dimon, the cacti Ralph and Alice, the geranium Pasha, the orchid Varya, and a plant I dunno how it’s called in English but her name is Katie.

Also I have lots of Lego minifigs but I’m not listing all of them.

And if you go all the way across the city, I have inanimate friends there too! Excluding the many nameless trees who are all my friends, of course.

There’s this big thing, a pole or something I guess, with wires and transmitters and stuff. It’s standing in the park, all alone, among trees. I just kinda thought “man, must be lonely being a pole, not talking to anyone, just standing there, eh?” and befriended him! His name is Winston. I always greet him when I visit that park, and sometimes I give him a hug.

There’s also a monument to a war hero standing there! His name was Mikhail so I call him Uncle Misha. I always greet him too. He gets flowers often, but I don’t think people talk to him much.

Madokami is finally here, and pictures do not do her justice! I spent a couple of weeks working on her makeup, and her outfit was commissioned from a designer on Etsy!

I've officially tired myself out by putting the finishing touches on her late at night, so if you want more pics, please let me know!

Madokami has always been my dream doll, so it means so much to me to finally have her in my collection!

Here she is with the BisoulovelyXMadoka Magica Madoka pendant! My boyfriend gave it to me this Christmas, and it's one of my absolute favorite pieces.

And here she is with one of her disciples (an official Mami doll made by the same company as my Madokami custom).

I gave this Madokami a bit more of a Sweet Lolita look with her hair curls and her glitter heart face paint! If I make a Homucifer one day, I'd like to give her matching purple diamond ones to A) match her Soul Gem, B) it'd match the vaguely circusy makeup look Madokami has going on (diamonds for harlequins and blushy details for marionettes), and C) something something Homucifer probably sees herself as a clown pulling a puppet Madokami along on a string for the universe to gawk at symbolism something something.

Obscure Items I bet borrowers would make use of

Fuzzy worm on a string thingamajig; I swear these were at every kid's school fair. A borrower could definitely use one as a uber warm and long scarf (maybe minus the creepier-at-a-small-size googly eyes)

Sebastian- have you seen those custom doll videos? The ones where they like… rip the heads off Barbies and tear the hair out and re-build them? Scrub the faces off and repaint them? The intersection between artistic and morbid REALLY screams Seb to me I don’t know why.

I think Emily has a collection of succulents but she will only keep like, one category of them. She has every variety of a single type of succulent and that’s all she grows.

Look me dead in the eye and tell me Abigail doesn’t have the most baller isopod collection in the entire republic. I’m talking dairy cows, rubber duckies, the local native species, you name it. She has her own experimental crossbreeds. And this is no modifiedWalmart plastic container situation oh no, these guys live in massive glass terrariums with plants imported from each variety’s native location. She sells feet pics to buy isopod supplies. They live like kings.

Don’t ask me why but I feel like Shane was big into gravity falls while it was airing I feel like he was a big theory guy. He had a conspiracy board on his wall with red string and everything. He’s still chasing that high to this day (no one tell him about arg’s he would never recover)

The wizard is really good at Tetris. Like, ‘people you watch YouTube essays about’ good at Tetris, but he’s not a competitive person so he doesn’t go to events or anything.

I think Haley and Alex watched too many ghost hunting shows as kids and the moment they had their own money they bought like, a spirit box and an oujia board and whenever they’re bored and home alone they do like, seances n shit but they think it’s really silly so they giggle the entire time

Elliott collects shoes, like unwearable ass shoes. Huge platforms, glass heels, vintage boots, stuff that don’t match anything he owns. Just because he can.

Sam has the “adhd 10,000 hobbies curse” but the one that confuses people the most is his HUGE nail polish collection. He literally only ever paints his nails black for the ~rockstar vibes~ but he has this just BUCKET of polishes. He swatches them individually on those fake nails you see people use in nail art videos and he has a little notebook where he writes down how many coats it takes to be opaque, how long it took to dry, if the color matched how it looked in the bottle, etc. and then rates them on quality. it started as him trying to find a good set to gift Haley for her birthday but he ended up just becoming really hyper focused on it and now he has a literal catalogue of nail polish. It’s only a matter of time before he starts trying nail art to make use of them all but only time will tell if it sticks long enough for him to get good at it.

Harvey watches the most absurd soap operas. Even ones in languages he doesn’t know. Not even with subtitles he’s just here for the vibes

These are their main weapons, that will have upgraded designs later. I also refined and defined some details. If you look closely, Spamton has the NEO wing tips as studs on the epaulettes (his shoulders) of his jacket, and I made his greaves/sabatons look like actual thimbles - from my second post of his design. It goes with the theme of his puppet strings being similar to threads, and he's like a doll - dolls can have threads. Puppet Fighter AU

Rosas' weapon is a bow and arrow, transformed from the Freeze Ring. Spamton's Thorn Ring goes through the same transformation as the Rose Scarf. Asul uses a serving dish that they display samples on as a shield, engraved with the symbol on Spamton's back of his leather jacket - but I changed them to stars. The samples are thrown like darts. I already posted Kahel (Jack instead, like Jackfruit, and his face looks like a Jack-o'-lantern) using the mannequin like a hammer or club. The mannequin's outfit in this pic - is just what if dressing up the mannequin would give it immunity or a stat boost or something. The spikes and chains give it extra damage output, and also GOTH. Dilaw - now named Flan - wields a selfie stick with their smartphone, that doubles as a taser. Together, it's a telescoping stun baton. Flan records all the fights they're in, so they and everyone can watch after. And learning from Ralsei to wield the Puppet Scarf (Spamton's broken strings from the NEO battle) by following how he uses magic to control his pink scarf - calling it "Scarf Arts" trademarked - Spamton brandishes his strings like whips that slice and grapple objects and his enemies. Also Spamton's whole body is a weapon too, a sharp spinning top, throwing himself around as a self-propelled flail.

Lil' Fella--

AS PROMISED (Again, to myself.) here he is-- lil Fella, my Miss Jia by Dollzone. :) He is a legit doll! I've got his big kid papers and everything. It should be noted that he is NOT an estate doll; I bought him from his previous owner in person at a convention. It was....a long time ago so uh, I don't remember what I paid.

He hasn't been worked on since 2020-- I might need to do a bit of touching up here and there.

The lighting for today's pics aren't like..great. We're approaching "Big ol' Winter Storm 2025" soon so everything is very grey at the Picture Taking Table. ANYWAY! All his bits and bobs are below the cut!

De-stringing this guy was tough. Not as tough as REstringing him but that was a problem for Future (IE me, currently typing this.) Rose to worry about. Anyway lets look a-

They need touching up and the lighting was giving my iphone camera trouble, but..here we are!

Very tiny, so tiny. You saw the hooks before Frankie-terrorism. Difficult to photograph in poor lighting.

The big ol' sloth arms connect to these lil' ol' string bean arms. They were finicky to restring, but they look cute once all together.

SO. So small.

These chicken wings are his tiny nubbin feet. Also in need of some touch up. Not sure how I feel about the nubbins, honestly.

Torso time! So far all his little parts have looked like tiny bones. The torso parts look especially bone-like to me.

Or maybe a weirdly shaped piece of dead coral?

It feels very delicate but having manhandled it recently in an attempt to restring..he's not as delicate as you may think!

The Boots.... very cute! These are from yesterday, before I did a second layer on the soles and sealed the boot itself w mod podge (unsure if that is the best way to go about this. But I'm just experimenting). I didn't end up doing a second layer for the socks, or sealing them tbh. Like.... I sort of feel ambivalent to it rn. I might go back and add more finishing touches, I might not. I guess it depends on if I can make a passably cute pair of shoes on my own.

WWWWWAAAAAUYUGHGHGHHGH...... LOOOK at these TINY little pearlescent buttons............................... I have a bunch of these tiny ass beads (TOO SMALL to even PULL A NEEDLE THROUGH LIKE. There's probably smaller needles out there but what I could find laying around from my junk, the eyelet was too big! I had to get Weird about how I sewed these on LMFAO). Eventually, I do really want to make Mani's signature dress, which has those little decorative buttons on the chest piece, so! Def putting this idea in my pocket for later....

As for the black rose bracelet, it's nothing really special. I had several attempts where I just couldn't get the results I wanted consistently. You may not be able to tell from the pic, but these two roses are slightly bigger than the one on the bracelet, and I worried in general if I made it a cuff, it would get too bulky. Part of the inconsistency could be the fact that I'm really stubborn about using whatever I have, and instead of very thin ribbon I was using this sort of elastic material from an old headband. That I'd cut in half to get it this small. So. Maybe when the clay arrives, I can figure something else out. I imagine Mani's rose cuff is just plastic costume jewelry -- so making a hard miniature (maybe button like?) I can actually thread a string through (not just. Haphazardly hot glue onto the string.) could be the route! I guess just treat this like a mock-up. Proof of concept.

Mystery girl finds some friends

This little girl came in a lot of Kid Kore Jodi dolls. Since I couldn't get a good view of her in the auction, I'd thought she might be an undocumented Jodi from the [Romani] Caravan line, given the high coloring and the combination of red hair with tanned skin (seen on some variants of Jazzlyn).

She's not Kid Kore, though. Her only markings are "Made in China" and a string of numbers. She fits easily into vintage Kelly clothes.

She's smaller than Totsy Kerri, who also wears Kelly clothes. This means she's a lot smaller than Kid Kore Jodi.

Who is she? While her hair is frustrating me -- she's been soaked in fabric softener and boil-washed, and I think she still needs another round -- I adore her little face.

She is, for the nonce, named Panna, one of those names that gets claimed for different origins across southeastern Europe and Asia. She is likely to be assigned to be Rosa Lee's little sister.

I'd been trying to figure out where to even start in researching a girl this mysterious when something caught my eye in the bins at the entrance to Cardena's Market. Ordinarily, I don't shop there, since it's nowhere near where we live -- but I was following up rumors that they might have Shasta Diet Cream Soda (false). In the bin, I saw this.

That is an eerily similar face-up to Panna.

There was no brand name anywhere on the box. There was no other Little Princess set in the bin. I don't care about Disney Princesses, and I really don't need four more toddlers... but is it the same doll?

Look at the redhead in yellow on the back of the box. That's Panna. She's Belle.

The thing with clones is that you can't be sure without a side-by-side comparison. I have never seen these at 99 Cents Only, Family Dollar, Dollar General, dd's discounts, MarshMaxx, Ross, Big Lots, or assorted off-brand discounters and quasi-dollar stores.

I bought the box, on the grounds that brown girls are harder to find in clones. It rang up at $12.99, which is more than I expected. I bought it anyway.

As is often the case with Disney Princess knock-offs, it took me a minute to identify who is supposed to be whom.

Jasmine, now renamed Zahra (white flower)

Elena of Avalor, now renamed Amapola (poppy)

Elsa of Arendell, now renamed Astrid

Rapunzel or possibly Aurora, now renamed Zinnia

The head molds are not identical to Panna, even though the face-up is so similar. The bodies, however, are almost identical. Depending on the camera angle, sometimes the girls look bigger than Panna and sometimes vice-versa.

You can see words on Zahra's back: Smart Talent. There exists a Smart Talent Trading Ltd that offers toys out of Hong Kong. Googling around gives eBay listings for similar little princess dolls, including an all-Black set.

Doing a reverse image search on the box gives a different name: Harbour Trade. They have an entire catalog, which also shows these little princesses. (Subsequent digging revealed that Smart Talent has the same catalog on their site, so I think they're essentially the same company.) Harbour Trade's catalog is hella entertaining, especially if you try the outdated mobile version (which is where I got these pics).

They did a line of Monster High knockoffs, back in the day.

Probably the same head mold is still in use today, for lines like Pajama Party. My favorite of the Pajama Party boxed sets are the ones that offer, without comment or explanation, one regular-looking young woman and one escapee from the Gothic Angels line.

They are also the purveyors of Michelle, one of those Barbie clones who looks like she took pre-reform Eleanor Shellstrop as her role model ("Arizona dirt bag" is the term I'm looking for). I kind of love yellow-streak on the end and would be tempted to put her on an old Liv body, just to confuse people.

Like Panna, all of the newbies can wear Kelly clothes and shoes. This is excellent, as I have huge quantities of vintage Kelly clothes.

As is normal nowadays for little girl dolls, they have ridiculous amounts of hair.

Even though they're a little big-headed and sullen, I rather like their little faces.

And Panna is delighted to have some friends. I asked myself "how many 4.5-inch toddlers do I really need?" then remembered that Mom had something like 100 Kelly dolls and I'm nowhere near tempted to go for that number. My preference for this face-up should, at least, prevent me from reaching for more Sparkle Girlz.

i also thought i would post some process pics of going from my concept art to the actual doll with aria so i am gonna post some progress shots and some details below the cut! definitely a huge learning curve for me despite all the doll customizers i have watched but will take those lessons into the future... i am hoping to make signet next :^)

so i started with this licca-chan friend head (i don't know her name at all unfortunately, i thought it was a jenny head initially but it's definitely not) and completely rerooted her with some pink nylon hair... i chose nylon because i wanted to make it wavy but i may have picked saran in retrospect (to make the hair wavy and curl the bangs i had my gf braid the hair and wrap the bangs around a straw, then boil washed it! worked great)

then i repainted! or well, repainted some of her face after wiping off parts w acetone... i was hesitant to use mr super clear because it's quite toxic so i used brush on liquitex matte varnish which i am not going to use in the future because it truly gives no grip for pencils, and you can't use anything waterbased like gouache paint or watercolor pencils.... but i redrew her eyebrows, lips, and added some extra eye shine. i thought the face was the perfect retro anime look as is otherwise

then the accessories! i made her a little headset frankenstined out of two different doll headsets (including a very phallic looking mic part LOL) sculpted over a bit with some air dry clay and painted, and her heart shaped guitar which was entirely built from scratch using air dry clay, cardboard, and some string (you can also see the headset pre-painting). she also has some clear sci fi goggles but those were just a barbie piece i brushed some UV resin with glitter over to make it extra sparkly

the arm was sculpted a bit with air dry clay as well, then painted silver... the gold ended up clashing too much w the outfit hence the color change. i also used dye to dye the joints black because paint would not stay on them

i also switched the arm sides someone despite checking SEVERAL times to make sure it was the right side. directions are not my strong point. aria left handed AU.

and finally the outfit! OH my god this was the part that made me almost quit and made it take so long. i had to figure out the jumpsuit pattern from scratch, and the fabric is stretchy which made trying to get the heart cut out to stay in place impossible. you actually can't put the jumpsuit on her without taking her head and arms off because i decided to have it close at the bottom for Some Reason. the boots were fun though! the bottoms are from a pair of jenny boots that i painted blue and then glue the fabric part on to.

and the jacket. WHY did i decide to work with such a crazy material (for aesthetics). it was essentially just slightly flexible fabric and not very good at draping at all, so there was a lot of frustration trying to attach the collar and shoulder pads (i ended up just using some extra strong clear tape haha). the jacket is literally why i stopped working on this for like 2 months. but i conquered it eventually

and thats the overall process! fun and i have learned my lesson in what kinds of materials to use. excited to work on another project soon :) !!
