That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is an anime focusing on a man from modern Japan dying and being reincarnated in a fantasy land where they immediately find out that not only are they a slime, but befriend a giant dragon in the very first episode that gives them incredible power through sheer power of "he's just a good dude".

It involves the power of friendship, deus ex machina and an incredibly overpowered main character all somehow being done right because all of it is succinctly explained, set up properly with seeds much earlier on in the series, and has an overall "feel good" vibe to it that isn't crushed by angst. It's because of the angst being suitably handled and respected as having a reason to happen and be helped with later on that this "feel good" tone feels earned.

It's also an anime featuring a main character who is physically genderless and implied to be comfortably agender but goes by he/him for ease and has implied bisexual tendencies as well.

I mean just look at this bean in this utterly out-of-context but tone-appropriate screenshot involving the main character being an adorable dork.

I don't have any pictures, but my desk is under a partially-vaulted ceiling and it is spiderling season again. Every once in a while for the past few days I've seen tiny little friends balloon down onto my desk space. I've tried relocating some of them (I know they're supposed to be scattered by the wind, not all drop onto the same desk) but I think they can jump because they vanish off my hand in a blink. They're the smallest creatures in my home's ecosystem I can see, and I can't help but worry about them.

It's possibly they ballooned off your hand as well. Even the smallest draft can catch them! I have baby spiders that appeared recently all over my apartment and they seem to be doing very well for themselves, so I wouldn't worry too much :)

Do you know any good sites for posting original horror drabbles/otherwise sharing horror content? I've posted a series on Pillowfort and on AO3, but it's got very little attention.

I’m not sure. There are various sites out there for original fiction, including Wattpad (though I don’t recommend it for this).

Anyone have opinions on original fiction sites with horror?

well my feelings are a bit more complicated than that, i think lesbians should be allowed to have the space to discuss the use of queer even if their thoughts on it are counter to what a person who is polysexual or asexual thinks, even if you disagree its important to understand why a gay cis women might think that way rather that be wholly dismissive of the topic, like the us vs them mentality isnt helpful, we can only come from something from our pov and i would normally just give something like that a pass even if its too my detriment a little bit, people like gotta work that out for themselves, you know? but i peaked at the persons blog a second and like you cant be out here being like stuffs a slur thats used in like, daily language as a (idk what the word would be reclaimed in context?? a) nonslur then have a word thats used exclusively as a slur in your gender critical radical feminism blogging feed like i dont trust like that it doesnt work like that

To the author looking to write a masturbatory Smartest Man power fantasy, the audience is not a collaborator, but a threat. @pigcatapult

This! This is a huge issue in so much modern media!!! That ‘spoiler culture’ ‘subvert expectations in as extreme a way as possible’ ‘don’t make it possible for the audience to guess’ perspective is what ruined game of thrones and many other media. A writer needs to set up a readable map of events - but when they feel shock is more important than substance and firm world/character/theme:mystery building, it always peters out in the end.

honestly it was a red flag when bbc sherlock went “well obviously the word written in blood isn’t the german word for revenge, it’s clearly the beginning of the name ‘rachel’, what absolute idiot would fail to see that” when in the original novel it is, in fact, the german word for revenge, which sherlock points out gleefully to a roomful of policemen who all figure it’s the beginning of the name ‘rachel.’

and by red flag I mean it was a clear sign that the adaptation was trying to one-up the source material, instead of engaging with it with love.

I don’t know enough about Naruto to say whether or not I think Sasuke should go fuck himself, but this character definitely should.

He’s a ...’troubled’ kid who wants REVENGE!!!!1! for his brother’s death and winds up getting two of the most sympathetic characters in the game killed. And he’s voiced by Yuri Lowenthal. 

So he’s bootleg K-Mart store brand Sasuke and I strongly dislike him.

My husband and I both miss having a smol angry son, and we want to do it right this time. Do you have any recommendations on the kind of tank or type/brand of filter, and what kinds of decorations to avoid?

Hiya! That’s awesome, I’m glad the both of you are adopting a betta!! In my humble bias opinion, betta are the BEST! I think Fluval tanks are the best in quality compared to other brands like TopFin, Marineland, etc., as the material of the equipment are sturdy while also maintaining a beautiful aesthetic; this is why they’re the most expensive (this isn’t to say the other brands are bad, as I use TopFin myself). What’s most important is that the tank is rectangular, and that there is plenty of room for your betta to swim. I definitely recommend a 5 gallon and up, as they’re easier to keep up maintenance than a 2.5g, and your betta will appreciate the space.

Betta have delicate fins, especially long-finned boys like half moons, so decor should not be sharp and plastic (an alternative is silk). Decor shouldn’t have a small hole in it, as a betta can get stuck trying to swim through, and make sure that paint won’t chip.

Best of luck- your future betta is very lucky that you’re looking out for them!

edit: almost forgot- i hear aquaclear is a good HOB filter! you can also order sponge filters online, and buy an air pump.

Shedinja is my favourite bug Pokemon because it's an angel peel and I can't resist the haunted aesthetic, but Scolipede is a close second because it's a big venomous bug horse and I want to pat their snoot. Do you have a favourite?

I’m afraid I don’t know anything at all about Pokemon! Sorry! It’s just not my jam, but I know a lot of my followers love it and I’m sure they’d like to share their favorites in the comments :)
