- Different Jedi temples and what they tell about the Jedi -
The acolyte is presenting to us a different group that uses the Force. Many seems to be outraged by them, but I think it is cool.
It is only natural that in a galaxy where Force excists, there are different ways and approaches.
In canon, there are places where naturally or by occurance, the dark or the light side are stronger. And those places were attracting the attention of those who are strong in the Force. My suspection is that the Templea are built on those spots. And this way, they are older than the Jedi order. The Force itself is eternal. The Jedi came after it.
Tumblr media
The early Jedi are still little known in canon. But another natural thing is that the cultures are changing along the time passing. If they do not adapt into the changes, they dissappear. Like the morning mist.
Tumblr media
This change was happening to the Jedi order too. It had happened earlier - the split between the Sith and the Jedi can be seen as one.
Tumblr media
The Lothal Temple, Jedha and others are signs of the Jedi changing.
The very nature of the Jedi has changed. The small temples all around the Galaxy were meant to be stations for the Jedi. Them staying there and doing their duty: protect the people of the Republic. Being part of their community, rising their young, and really protecting the locals. But their number had dwindled and they no longer were capable of do the similar tasks that they had been doing earlier.
But as the Jedi were desperately trying to stay in the center of Power, Coruscant, they did abandon the rest of the Galaxy.
Tumblr media
This is how the Jedi had become myth even when they excisted. And when they were finally wiped out by the Sith they become a legend.
Something that was not real. A story.
Perhaps the Jedi become too attached on themselves.
Maybe it really was the time for the Jedi to come to an end. Maybe it was time for the Jedi to be reborn.

Discussion: Do any Star Wars planets have their own flags?
I mean of course we’ve seen flags (or at least insignias) for things like the Empire, the Republic, Separatists, First Order, etc, but do any individual planets have their own flags that we know of? 🤔
If they don’t, someone should design some! Thank you! 😁

This is probably not a very original observation, but I love how Andor and Rogue One in combination reframe A New Hope so it's crystal clear that the Empire sowed the seeds of its own destruction.
In Andor, the rebellion is sparse and directionless. It's no threat to the Empire at the start. It becomes a threat because of the actions that the Empire takes in order to build the Death Star - in particular, the Ghorman Massacre. Even in Rogue One, the Rebellion teeters on the edge of giving up. But the "tests" of the Death Star on Jedha and Alderaan help to change that. At that point, the evil of the Empire becomes undeniable.
And all of that was completely avoidable. There's never any clear reason why the Empire needs a planet-killing superweapon. They're not currently at war and they won the last war that they fought. There is the threat of rebellion, but planet-killing superweapons are useless against an insurgency. With a slower, more cautious consolidation of imperial power, the Empire might have been unstoppable.
But Palpatine wanted to be able to destroy planets, and so he helped to destroy himself.

someone tell me why cassian is always wearing heavy coats?? does he have poor circulation?? was kenari a super warm planet and he’s never adjusted to anything else?? tell me why he’s always wearing like five layers of clothing
Tumblr media Tumblr media
we know the brothel can’t be that cold because the hostess all wear sleeveless dresses. and i know it’s raining but is a multi-layer coat really necessary?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
aldhani can’t be that cold either because skeen goes shirtless in one of the scenes with little to no reaction to the weather
Tumblr media
ferrix can’t be cold either. sure they all wear sleeves and pants for the most part but that looks like 4 layers he has on. bix usually wears leggings and a long sleeve top
Tumblr media Tumblr media
jedha is a desert. i know desert doesn’t mean it’s always hot but jyn is right there and she’s not wearing a fur coat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ghorman + coruscant. again, ghorman might have sleeves and pants weather, but once again cassian has on layers, even while he’s inside. and on coruscant they regulate the weather so there’s no way he would need that many layers, especially in a shop. he also leaves his coat on in multiple scenes at the safe house when bix is clearly shown in crop tops or tank tops.
Tumblr media
bonus! yavin 4
i’ve come to the conclusion that cassian carries his giant fur coat with him, despite having 2-3 layers already on.

What Andor did for the Force and how it recontextualizes Rogue One.
In a previous post I talk about the initial interaction between Cassian, Bix, and the Force Healer. The Force Healer treats him with a sort of reverence, saying that he is a messenger, there is something specific he is meant to do, and his journey through life is building up to that thing.
There are many interpretations of the Force in Star Wars, but the one overarching idea between all of them is that the Force is something that influences the state of the galaxy. Down to the smallest fly, as big as galactic politics. The Force provides balance, all is as the Force wills it, the Force is a thread you pull and the events that follow.
In Andor I think we see the Force as the thing that decides your destiny. The Force healer sensed Cassian had someplace he needed to be. If you look at the rest of his life through the lens of that statement, you see that he his uncanny ability to survive is the Force getting him where he needs to be.
His first ever mission, back on Kenari, his leader dies and he stays to take his anger out against the machinery. This machinery is representative of the subjugation he has experienced and the Republic that caused it, and a taste of the anger that fuels him the rest of his life. He stays long enough for Maarva and Clem to find and save him. Because of that, he survives what would have been a death sentence on Kenari.
Over and over again this plays out. He last minute joins the Aldhani team and is pretty much the only reason they pull it off (he flew the escape shuttle, he prevented Skeen from stealing the spoils). Just the right floor with just the right shift manager on Narkina 5 and Cassian has the people and information available to him to incite a prison break that allows him to survive. He is one of the very few to survive the Ghorman Massacre. He continuously saves people in impossible situations: Bix, Mon Mothma, Kleya.
The Force continuously pushes him in the direction of his destiny. Until it is practically screaming at him when he receives two tips from totally different informants within 24hrs that Jedha, kyber, Galen Erso, and a secret weapon are all connected.
Cassian tries to break from this destiny. Running and hiding after Aldhani only to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and end up in Narkina 5. Trying to leave the rebellion with Bix only for her to leave him first. Everytime he tried to have a life outside of the rebellion a road block went up.
To me this recontextualizes Chirrut’s comment “there is more than one type of prison, Captain, I sense you carry yours wherever you go,”
Now that statement is no longer just about his guilt over the hard things he had to do for the rebellion. It’s also the inescapability of this “purpose” that Bix said he had, the “clarity” and “message” the Force healer said he carried.
By the end of Andor I think he has accepted that purpose. Represented by his slight nod at the Force Healer as she stops her work to watch him in reverence as he walks by. I don’t think Cassian believes in the Force necessarily, but has decided that there is not likely any path for him besides the one directly ahead, and he is willing to do what is set before him. Plus his true belief in the cause of the rebellion as well as his savior complex from the traumatic loss of his sister which makes him choose again and again to be a servant of the Rebellion.
But it does still feel like a prison. The very first choice that brought him to this life wasn’t his. Starting all the way back when he was just a frightened kid that was drugged and forcibly removed from his home planet.
Knowing this context about Cassian you go into Rogue One and shit man. He not only survives the first ever use of the Death Star on Jedha but also gets his entire team out and 3 rescuees. What do you call that if not divine intervention? When he is about to kill Galen, but pauses and can’t, the sound effects reverberate in a way that is so similar to when Vader chokes Krennic. Could his hesitance in this moment be because of a powerful message from the Force: “NO!”? I think so.
The best part of all this…is that this is the same as Jyn’s story. Rogue One always presented her as someone the Force was working through. Her khyber necklace, Chirrut being drawn to her on Jedha, the only reason they found the plans at all being because Galen named the code name after her, and only she would know that…
But now with her story next to Cassian’s the parallels are insane. “Her path is clear” Chirrut says, all too similar to when the Force healer tells Cassian he brings clarity. Both of them are children when they lose their entire family and are raised on an unfamiliar planet by adoptive parents who dislike the Empire. Both learn and develop skills for rebellion and use them to mess with the Empire until they are ultimately jailed in work death camps making DEATH STAR PARTS. Both make it out and join up with the Rebellion.
I am part way through the book Rebel Rising, Jyn’s origin story, and so far she displays the same sort of “get out of jail free card” luck that Cassian does. Perhaps the most poignant is when she, after being abandoned by Saw on a planet the Empire was actively bombing, happens to stumble upon a man who flies her out of the system and was in fact planning an escape prior to any of this, and therefore has a very neat plan already set up to make their departure very hard to trace.
The Force’s will is most strong during the events on Scariff. Every member of Rogue One survives just long enough to complete one part of a series of events that enable the Death Star plans to be transmitted. Bodhi immediately dies after communicating to the fleet that they need to take down the gate. Chirrut immediately dies after turning on the master switch. Baze immediately dies after killing every last stormtrooper in the area, ensuring no one turns OFF the master switch. K2SO immediately dies after locating the Death Star plans cartridge.
And Cassian, he doesn’t die from the fall, no. He survives that, in order to save one last person: Jyn. Once he has saved Jyn, she completes her destiny and father’s legacy by transmitting the plans.
Despite all this The Force doesn’t have a set, singular path that one must follow. If Anakin can shirk his divine responsibility to take on the role of The Father on Mortis surely Cassian could walk away too. But it is so interesting to me that he doesn’t. Part of it is The Force pushing him in the direction of the Rebellion when he wants to leave, and the other part of it is just who Cassian is as a person. Someone who is desperate to save others, especially those closest to him, with a deep inner fire begging him to do something.
And when I think back to that kid on Kenari, it becomes clear that the Force saw that in him from the very beginning.

Andor season 3 episode titles & plot summaries have just been announced!
This final season of Andor will have 6 episodes as opposed to the usual 12, and the episodes will follow the journey of Cassian and the Rebellion in their fight against the mysterious "Death Star".
Season 3 Episode 1: "There Are Spies Everywhere". This episode follows Cassian directly after the end of season 2 (which set up him meeting an informant named 'Tivik'). Additionally, this episode fleshes out the character of "Krennic" introduced in season 2, and his relationship with Galen Erso, a character who has to do with the creation of the "Death Star". The episode primarily focuses on the character of Jyn Erso, who is the daughter of aforementioned Galen Erso.
Tumblr media
Season 3 Episode 2: "Star-Dust". This episode follows Cassian and the newly introduced Jyn Erso, daughter of Galen Erso, as they voyage to Jedha to meet Saw Gerrera's Partisans. Apparently, they will also travel to a planet called 'Eadu'. Both of these planets were mentioned in the final arc of season 2 - the buildup is super exciting! Additionally, it has been mentioned that we will get more information about this "Death Star" and what it is capable of.
Tumblr media
Season 3 episode 3: "Your Father Would Be Proud". The tension mounting in the previous two episodes comes to a climax in this one as the main characters go into a final battle on Scarif, which was also mentioned in the finale of season 2. Sources have also told me that this will be the last time we see Cassian, and the rest of the story will be focused on newer characters (some of whom were introduced in this episode!). This seems like a tough concept, but I'm hoping they pull it off - I'm really enjoying the chemistry between this group of characters!
Tumblr media
Season 3 episode 4: "You're My Only Hope". This episode begins right where the previous one ended, with the theft of the structural plans to the Death Star - in this episode, we're introduced to more new characters like smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca, who Obi-Wan persuades to take them to Alderaan, where Bail Organa is.
Tumblr media
Season 3 episode 5: "That's No Moon". The situation escalates - The Death Star unveils its full power as Luke, Han, Chewbacca & Obi-Wan mount a mission to infiltrate the Death Star and rescue Leia Organa, all while carrying the structural plans to the Death Star.
Tumblr media
Season 3 episode 6: "In Our Moment Of Triumph". Han, Chewbacca, Luke and Leia are tracked to the rebel base on Yavin 4. The Death Star prepares to crush the rebellion in one fell swoop. Everything is at stake for our new band of characters, the Rebellion, and the galaxy at large.
Tumblr media
What's interesting about this season is that the lack of Cassian and other Andor characters in the final episodes is very much an intentional choice - a statement by the creators, that the Rebellion is made up of people from all walks of life working together to stop a single evil.
I'm super excited about Andor season 3, and I hope you all are too!

THE HIGH REPUBLIC CHECKLIST: If you want to consume these in order, I really like Youtini's High Republic Reading Order list for being extremely comprehensive and solidly updated for Phase III+ or the more middle-ground comprehensive High Republic guide from starwars.com or Wookieepedia generally does a good job putting things in individual release order. This post is just a checklist of what's available and not quite a reflection of read order. It's lanyard time, y'all! I made long lanyards for Cassian, Jyn, and Bodhi to match the lanyard keychains I dropped at the end of last year. As always, shop is here. And I thought I'd actually tell y'all a little about the design process for each of these if you'd like to read below:
Tumblr media
For Cassian I wanted to make it match the canvas jacket he wears in Rogue One, so I used that tan brown as the base color and added the Andor variation on the Rebel Starbird and his intelligence captain's rank badge.
Tumblr media
For Jyn I also wanted to include many parts of her journey, so you see the Domabesh text "I Rebel" across the top along with the Rogue One variation of the starbird, but you also see the tiny emblem of Saw Gerrera's Partisans as well as a kyber crystal like the one Lyra gave her as a child.
Tumblr media
I love using Domabesh on Rogue One designs because the alphabet is older than Aurebesh, canonically, and was created for the Jedha scenes in Rogue One. So for a Jedhan character like Bodhi, I had to use Domabesh—it says "I'm the pilot" punctuated by kyber crystals to represent his home planet. It also has his goggles and the Rogue One variation of the Starbird.
Tumblr media
I also made lanyards for Vernestra based on both elements from the High Republic books but also the Acolyte—so you see the Acolyte-era Jedi sigil, but you also see the tattoos we first see near her eyes in the books.
Tumblr media
And, of course, a SM-33 lanyard featuring his little face and the At Attin emblem. I went back and forth on whether to include the At Attin emblem, but at the end of the series it feels like that's going to become home for SM-33. So it just felt right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And while we're here, the High Republic "for light and life" lanyard and the Commander Cody lanyard are back in stock.
I hope you enjoy these! Shop is here. Love y'all!
