liking dnd is so funny because yeah you play the actual game sometimes but mostly you just think about the game and watch other people play the game and slowly go insane thinking about how much you wish you could play the game and hoping that buying more shiny rocks will fix everything

"oh, baby... don't cry." jisung's teasing you already as you try to wipe your eyes with your sleeve without touching your face with your hands. "did minho say something? should i beat him up for you?"

minho smiles a little as he continues to peel potatoes, glancing up at the two of you. you just try to turn away from jisung as you press the edge of your sleeve against your eyes as carefully as you can, only for jisung to turn you back to him as he reaches up to wipe away your tears. your eyes are stinging, but you had insisted on being the one to dice onions tonight.

"i'll beat him up," he says, pressing a little peck on your cheek, before he picks up the knife, picking up from where you left off. "i'll do the rest for you--oh, fuck--" and he's already recoiling away, eyes already watering. this onion is either particularly pungent in the normal-onion-way, or the two of you are wimps.

you're personally leaning toward the latter. no offense to jisung: the two of you hate doing this for a reason, and minho's the one who seems to come out more unscathed by comparison. that, or he pushes through it better than either of you do.

minho pushes his way in front of jisung, stealing the knife from him as he takes over. "you two do the potatoes then," he says. "i'll handle this."

"but--" you pout just a little. "i can do it..."

"next time," he says. "just let me finish it this time." he looks at the two of you with this fond smile, ever the doting one of you three. "i'll start on the rest once i finish this."

ever in tune with each other, you and jisung move to pick up from where minho left off: he peels, you begin dicing. "thank you, honey," the two of you say together after exchanging the tiniest glance to make sure you're on the same page.

and minho just hides a smile as he turns away from you, heart and soul forever bewitched by the two of you.

honestly i like to imagine steve as a much happier, more accepted member of his friend group but the whole show is just a game of kids on bikes that eddie is running and steve's ass is NOT paying attention. eddie's first session steve is like yeah i wanna play the hot asshole and everyone laughs and he forgets his character backstory halfway through the boss fight. next two seasons he's getting his nails painted by erica and robin and keeps getting clowned on for not remembering any of the plot. he keeps rolling like dogshit, and the joke is that their cool loved friend steve is playing a guy who doesnt know what the fuck is going on and can't win a fight to save his life. character steve makes it through every campaign with one hit point and a dream.

they finally bully eddie into including himself since he insists on everyone playing themselves for this stupid joke game and steve immediately gives up on pretending to know what's going on in the game and just figures out how he can maximize his flirting time w/ his own boyfriend. eddie kills his own npc at the end so he can stop playing himself. dustin throws a notebook at his head bc he had to hear eddie call steve big boy w his own ears for NOTHING. steve is like yeah uh since my boyfriend fucking died i'm going to try to steal jonathan's girlfriend again.

oh and the steve and jonathan fighting over nancy thing is just a stupid joke that steve and jonathan made at the beginning of the game because steve and jonathan have been best friends since elementary school. they like to cause problems on purpose. they honestly thought nancy would shoot them down but they didnt know that SHE was the one who taught MIKE everything he knows about the finer points of roleplay. she hates drama in real life but LOVES it in her games.

jonathan at the end of season four like "who else was going to lead the party? steve? he couldn't explode a d4 in the last three sessions combined" and steve is fully half asleep in robin and eddie's laps like hey >:( (pssst ed what does that mean)

in my heart of hearts, I believe Foggy Nelson was rly into DnD when he was in middle and high school, he was also mainly a DM rather than an active player. when he meets Matt and just casually starts narrating things for him out of habit, Matt actually really enjoys it because Foggy is extremely descriptive and somehow always has the perfect adjectives.

the rules? there are none, technically. all you need is a handful of dice (and what better excuse to buy some pretty dice? but google will do too) and a willingness not to micromanage.

i'm sure this isn't the first challenge of its kind, but it's what i've been doing in my spare time when i want a break from more rigid challenges (and if you like those kinds of challenges, my other two challenges are linked on my blog <3)

another important thing about this challenge is that you can customise it to your liking. these options are based off of the worlds and careers that i personally have in my game, and will become outdated as new packs are released. there are more than 20 worlds and careers, so i unfortunately can't fit them all, but if you want to swap things out, the world is your oyster!
