it wasn't exactly fair of them to try and hold a conversation with her when mai's mind was elsewhere, but still she hummed out sounds of approval and understanding as sloppy kisses were trailed over the side of their neck. it was routine, almost, for them to wind up in one another's arms when they were alone together and while they'd always maintained that it was just the nature of their friendship, lately mai had been feeling a touch more possessive of her friend. which was why the name of a third party immediately caught her attention, causing her to sit up straighter with dark brows drawn in together. jonghoon thrives in chaotic and noisy environments, so the background noise of excited chatter and people playing beer pong doesn't disturb him much. in fact, jonghoon is trying to coast through the party by having taken a calculated does of uppers and downers. to most people he seems uninhibited most of the time, regardless of whatever pharmaceuticals may be affecting his personality, but there was a certain type of energy he was drawn to. he can feel it when it leaves. he's perched comfortably on a couch, fingers idly tracing the neck of a beer bottle. but when there's a shift of weight on the spot next to him on the couch, a welcoming grin tugs at his lips and his eyes turn into pleased half-moons. "hey, where'd you go? i was just startin' to miss you." there's warmth here, but it's indistinguishable from whether it's from the firepit in front of them, the alcohol coursing through his veins or the palpable chemistry between them. "don't leave yet, you're like, the only person here worth talkin' to."
