Typhlosion is finished! All handmade with super soft faux furs and minky details; featuring hand-painted safety eyes, fangs and eyewhites of felt, magnets in each of the red spots (to attach a fiery collar to once I make one), lots of plastic beans in the belly, and extensive thread sculpting on the face and paws.

He measures 65 cm (25,6 inch) from nose to bum and gives great hugs! I’m really happy with how he came out 😄 Also featuring Quilava, whom I made early this year.

Making a large Hisuian Typhlosion plush

After I completed the Johto version I immediately went on to make the Hisuian as well. Ever since the game came out I've wanted to make a plush of this Pokemon, and after 2 years of searching I finally found the perfect purple fur, so you understand my fingers were just itching to begin!

I'm so glad I did start on the Johto version first; I had planned out the placements of face and neck markings totally wrong, as it turned out when I modelled it on the existing plush! Now I could get it right in one go. The pattern I used for this plush is almost identical to the first, I only changed the markings, made the forehead piece a wee bit wider, and slimmed down the curve of the back and flanks, to make it a little less bulky and more lithe in appearance.

Embroidering 8 spots (!!) was a chore, but they turned out really nice, it was definitely worth the effort!

Genuine question- why do the undermeow plushies have no noses?

That's an awesome question! In my designs, I try to keep consistency and ESPECIALLY for plush designs, avoiding too much detail. I know exactly how the pattern and the embroidery line up, and a nose would be RIGHT on the chin seam.

I also tend to avoid noses for my personal designs for some reason?

I take so much inspiration from Japanese plushies and designs, that unless the nose is a major feature, I'll tend not to have it.

As a pro plush designer, here's a little design know-how. More embroidery/printing/colors mean more money. And it can be even more expensive depending on the size of the plush and the fabric used. You also have to consider the seams and if features are going over seams, and how to line them up cleanly.

But anyway, this was an awesome question and I love that you're curious about my processes :3c
