🎶 If your hyperfixation has songs/an ost, what is your favorite song from it?

From pmd, is a hard pick, there's a handful of songs that impacted my tiny heart and sent me to heaven the first time I heard them

But I'll give it to Time Gear from Explorers of darkness/time/sky, it always slaps to me, I can't describe the feelings it gives me, I stopped for some moments to vibe, is fire 🔥

I gave in and upgraded Hero's bow, big bow go brrrr

Honorable mention: Mt. Blaze Peak and Sky Tower, both from Red/Blue Rescue Team, two because I can't choose, the first one got me locking in, and the later one gave me a bittersweet feeling, it sounded happy and hopeful but I knew my Hero and me were reaching the end of our adventure

As for Pokemon... Skyarrow Bridge from Black/White, crossing a bridge never was that epic

Honorable mention: Distortion World from Platinum, little me literally stood there and vibed with the bells and weird... synth?

I think I genuinely like the Shrek 2 version of Holding Out For a Hero more than the original one skdjgfs. The Parasyte ost fucks severely, it's so wonderfully 2014 in the best way. Also Kakusei changed me as a person when I first heard it <3 I gotta stream promare for yall at some point

It's so hard to pick just three.... time gear is so so important 2 me though, so I had to chose it even over Dialga's Fight to the Finish or other related tracks... it's the blueprint the overarching motif of the entire game... auh. Go play PMD Explorers of Sky. Was debating between you will know our names and unfinished battle for my xenoblade pick and tbh. still torn they're both so so good. ALSO ENGAGE THE ENEMY..... head in my hands. MY TOUHOU PICK WAS DIFFICULT TOO. but I really love yuugi's theme, it's a great mix of calm and powerful and I loove whenever I can get her spell cards to sync with the music :]

not to burst in here out of nowhere but the pmd games are very good!! imo they have some of the strongest storytelling in the franchise (explorers of time/darkness/sky especially). i loved those games as a kid but i replayed explorers of sky a few years ago and enjoyed it just as much then. also the osts are (again, imo) phenomenal!

POKEMON MYSTERY DUNGEON EXPLORERS OF TIME/DARKNESS/SKY

little kip was up at 3am on a school night wide eyed and crying tears of Every Emotion over that game. like. jeez louis. i adore this game/these games.

8: Best soundtrack?

since I just talked about PMD I’ll leave it out, but it has an AMAZING soundtrack. Honestly, OSTs make up a massive chunk of my music library, so I could put many here, but I’m gonna put an obscure one!

“Kip, Robots?” YES ROBOTS. This GBA soundtrack is incredible? It absolutely had a hand in shaping my tastes. The atmosphere. The vibes. Unmatched. I want more of this. Begging people to listen to this. Recommended tracks: (all of them) Outmode Area, Jack Hammer, Aunt Fanny's Gallery, and High Speed Transit!

Hello! I play Project Diva!

It sits right next to Hitman in my library, which is amazing and perfect.

There’s also some cabinets I enjoy at arcades, but nobody ever asks abt arcade cabinets, so I guess that’s another? Not intentional, again, but ksjdfhkjsdfh I like to think I’m pretty decent at Ms Pacman. I’m NOT good at it, but I enjoy Mappy a lot!

Hi, I'm Nauti, and today I'm here to explain why Pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of sky has the GREATEST story of any pokemon game ever. I copy and pasted this across a few Discord servers I’m in because I need to spread the good word of this game to as many as possible because this game is actually spectacular

REASONS WHY PMD EOS HAS THE SINGLE GREATEST STORY OF ANY POKEMON GAME IN EXISTANCE 

 Dude. DUDE. It's a story about TIME TRAVEL. that's INSTANT win points. The story gets so dark too. The beginning chapters are you and your partner warming up to eachother and becoming really good friends and there's fucking betrayal and plot twists and HOL-Y SHIT this story is crafted so well. 

Grovyle is my hero and always will be. He says some. Really heavy hitting things that I feel even apply to real life. he's a fucking ICON. it's a story about sacrifice and giving up something you care about for the ultimate greater good. You and Grovyle and Celebi literally decide it's best if you all go on a mission that, if it succeeds, will WIPE YOU FROM EXISTANCE for the sake of the pokemon in the past so they don't have to suffer through a bleak future where the sun doesn't shine and nothing ever moves. also off-the-shits time god who was manipulated by a grand puppetmaster you encounter in the post game? FUCK YESSSS

 and the arc when you and your partner are dragged into the future and see how absolutely hopeless and depressing everything is it. It HURTS SO FUCKING BAD and really brings home the "we need to fucking stop this from happening at all fucking costs" point 

 ALSO THE CHARACTERS *chefs kiss*

 each character has SO SO OSOSOSOSSO MUCH LIFE AND PERSONALITY I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH Each character genuinely felt like their own person the characterization is BRILLIANT ALSO THERE ARE SIDE STORIES YOU CAN UNLOCK IN ORDER TO SEE PAST/FUTURE EVENTS FROM DIFFERENT CHARACTERS PERSPECTIVES AND IT'S BRILLIANT 

 this game gets really deep around the middle and does such a good job tackling things like the feelings of hopelessness and loss and 

ARGHGHGGHHGHHH It's fucking SOUNDTRACK. Now, Im a guy who loves a good leitmotif. and pmd eos???? FULL OF THESE. THE HOLY GRAIL LIKE HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!! Each song in the ost is crafted so beautifully and always manages to fit the situation at hand. 

 The guild music is upbeat and kinda goofy!! Which reflects the guild as a whole because GUESS WHAT? EVERY MEMBER OF THE GUILD IS UPBEAT AND GOOFY 

Treasure Town's music is just. *chefs kiss.* Delightful :) 

 THEN THERES THE ENTTTIIREEEEEE part of the game with the hidden land. The melody in the track 'Across the Sea of Time' is used in SO many of the tracks that come after it. 

Grovyle's sacrifice and then it's used in THE FUCKING FINAL BOSS MUSIC WHICH CONNECTS EVERYTHING EMOTIONALLY SO WONDERFULLY

 Across the Sea of Time gives a sense of wonder and also very light tension. You're entering a world outside of the boundaries of time and space. Grovyles sacrifice is sad, but it's also hopeful. Grovyle's putting his hope in you And the final boss music wraps it all up with a nice bow because it's the FINAL SHOWDOWN BABEY FUCK YEAHHH 

THE MUSIC THAT PLZYS WHEN YOURE IN THE FUTURE. IS SO FUCKING ATMOSPHERIC AND AMBIENT. AND IT DOES WONDERS FOR THE DARK AND DREARY FEELINGS

also this entire game is gorgeous visually as well. LOOK AT THIS SHIT!!!!!

THIS GAME IS A FUCKING MASTERPIECE

Pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of sky is a spectacular game with a fantastic story (A STORY THAT CARRIES INTO THE FUCKING POST-GAME, TOO), fantastic characters, fantastic artwork, one of the best soundtracks of any video game ever, and is so goddamn emotional. I do yearly playthroughs of this game an I never, ever fail to cry at the endin g

Personality Quiz: Which Pokemon did you get for the very first time as a result from the opening test?

-I got Cyndaquil as my first Pokemon in Red Rescue Team! I wanted Torchic, but I wasn’t able to get him and settled for Cyndaquil instead!

Partner: Who’s your favorite partner?

-I’m a fan of Pikachu in the Rescue Team games and Eevee or Riolu in the Explorers ones! For Gates and Super I’ve only played both of those twice or so each, and in Gates I had an Oshawott partner, and in Super I had a Bulbasaur partner! 

Joy Seed: Best memory?

-I remember my brothers and our friend all getting the original Rescue Team games at the same time and we all played them in our old game room at once and it was just really fun- I have a distinct memory of me sitting under a table trying desperately to get Torchic in the quiz (Torchic is my favorite Pokemon) and trying for like an hour and then just settling for Cyndaquil

-I remember in that same Red playthrough (i have so many memories from that first game) I kept going over and over to the Joyous Tower dungeon cuz there’s a bunch of starter pokemon to recruit there and I kept trying over and over to get a Torchic and I was so happy when I finally got one! I even went to go show my mom I think

Jukebox: Favorite music track/OST? 

-I have so many favorites: In the Morning Sun, A Fun Exploration, Random Dungeon Theme 3,  Sky Tower, Memories Returned, Concealed Ruins, Hidden Highland,  Ancient Letters Left Behind, Theme of Hope,  Tree of Life Roots, Dark Matter Battle 2, and Fire Island Volcano

1. Favorite game(s) in the series?

definitely explorers of sky, but super is a close second! the rescue team remake and gates are also very close to my heart sgdhzgs (pmd.... good)

2. Do you prefer the 2D or 3D games (in terms of style or the games in general)?

2D for sure! The sprites were so good and had so much charm.... although I do love the watercolor texture they put over the 3D models in the rescue team remake! I hope they do smthn similar if they ever remake explorers vdhgds

3. Which final boss and/or final dungeon do you like the most (whether from a narrative or gameplay perspective)?

mmmm my gut response is to say either temporal tower and primal dialga or the tree of life and dark matter... both had such intense energies as u climbed to the top, knowing that it was just u and ur partner left to keep the world from falling into ruin (or being thrown into the sun, in super's case sgdhsgs)! The dungeon themes in both also having two sections was so so cool to me, with a driving powerful theme in the first half and a calmer, more subdued theme as u got closer and closer to the top..... man.

4. What were your hero characters like before being turned into Pokemon? What did they look like and how were their lives? Do they ever recover any of their memories?

dvdbxvzvzhs I will admit. most of my hero characters are self inserts,, there's also one thats just an older oc but he got sucked into the pmd world (so did his bf, unbeknownst to both of them) dvdjshs

my psmd hero though was a cyndaquil named Felix, (and iirc super's whole thing was that ur hero and parter both had been reborn to finish the job of defeating dark matter) so he was probably just a fairly normal human teen (who kept getting reincarnated w/o his knowledge, just at the wrong times) who very suddenly got yoinked back to the pmd world (finally the right time to save the world)!

5. Which Pokemon from Gen 7-8 would you consider potential hero/partner starter options, outside of the regular Starter Pokemon?

hm! definitely rockruff, alolan meowth, and alolan vulpix from Gen 7, and probably nickit and yamper or wooloo from Gen 8! Applin would be cool too I think sghdgs

9. Are there any soundtracks you think are underrated or overlooked, or are there unused tracks you wish were in the game?

Am I allowed to say the entire gates ost bc. The entire gates ost. I know ppl don't like gates much (and I have some complaints abt it as well) but the ost RULES.

Also really like Mt. Horn from pmd2, and Fire Mounain Volcano from super!

10. Which ending do you like the most?

SUPER'S GUT PUNCH SWITCH HURTS SO GOOD.... every previous game is like "oh your hero can't stay in this world/has to dissappear" and even in game your character is preparing for that eventuality when suddenly nope! There goes your partner, disappearing into a ball of light and floating off into the sky </3 made me bawl when I got to it the first time

11. Any headcanons that take place after the games that you want to share?

I always love the idea of ur hero and partner becoming veteran explorers and helping/teaching new adventurers, particularly if they form a guild!

Also I think that for pmd2, dialga allows (infrequent) visits between the future trio and your hero/partner :] it wasn't goodbye forever!

12. If you could change one thing about your favorite game(s), what would it be?

FASTER TEXT SPEED FOR GATES PLEASE.... that's like the number one reason I don't replay it more zgdjdhzs... also expanded post game/better pacing for super would've made it probably my fav pmd game ever ngl
