we’re all fed up (presumably) with reading/hearing/watching things about COVID and it’s impact. So, I am trying to look positively at it’s effect… . Personally, getting up early and using my journal is a big one. My standard workday alarm is now 5am - to make time for it and some quiet reflection each morning. . Together, Sarah and I now head out for a walk each morning too - before she goes to work (I am freelance and have always worked from home). During lockdowns this was easier as we didn’t need to allow for the commute but the benefit was such that we’ve brought it forward and enjoy our morning walks - even as the weather changes in the upcoming months! . Since we’re talking about favorites—I love the green Horween Chromexcel I’ve been posting about recently, but this natural colored #Chromexcel juuust edges out the green for my absolute favorite leather for my wallet, seen here. This is my favorite wallet. It is a Park Sloper Senior without a pen loop (“No Pen”). Depending on the hide and the area of the hide the piece is cut from, texture can vary widely from completely smooth to this awesome texture. This one has additional back pockets hidden behind the notebook, and each of the 4 pockets has 2-4 cards in it. I also use this wallet style with only the front left pockets (that's the default). With just two pockets you might think it wouldn’t have enough capacity, but it works perfectly and you can put 8-10 cards in each pocket no sweat (something you can not do with wallets that have multiple card pockets stacked vertically). This cuts down on the overall thickness of the wallet because we can do without the one extra layer of leather that creates the back pockets. Either way works, it is a matter or preference. Also, with the card pockets facing inwards instead of upwards as they would be in a vertical pocket orientation, when the wallet is closed there is no chance a card can fall out. Nice and secure. We often get asked, “what’s a dot grid?” . To those of us who are already firmly established as stationery boffins, it may be familiar, however, to a stationery undergraduate, it’s not always clear. . Dot grids are a halfway house between blank and lined (but in our books, narrower at 5mm, compared to our 7mm line spacing). They are ideal if you like lists, bullet journaling, or might draw/sketch in your books too. Shown here in the foreground. . I use them for jottings and notes of ideas where the thread of the notes may not be continuous. Using the page spread too means mind maps and page real estate can be maximised and being dots, there is plenty of flexibility yet guides to keep things on a level or aligned where required. .
