❝ I- I’m okay! Ow… Nnot as bad as it could’ve been! ❞
He’s absolutely had worse things happen to him (such as getting his chest blown open when they first met), so the bump on the head wasn’t exactly super painful as much as it was actually just straight up embarrassing to him that he got caught eavesdropping. Still, now she knew he’d been lurking around.
❝ Hhaha, hm, I guess so huh? ❞
His tail was absolutely still wagging behind him despite his obvious embarrassment. Of course, it’s nice to know he’s cared about! But, ohh, biscuits was it especially nice to know how much Uzi cared about him. She’s so sweet… So, so
uh oh.

"Oh, N... Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, Lemon Bar... Are you okay, you didn't hurt your head to hard?"
Uzi spoke while her boyfriend sat on her bed now. Thus taking off his had briefly to ruffle up his head. Seems like his sensors were still in tacks. Seriously, he does need to be a bit careful. And actually use the door next time. Who knows if the vents can carry much more of the Murder Drones with it being constantly used. Not to mention there was a suspicious hole in the ceilings in one of the halls.
"Guess you need to be a little bit more sneaky when you are checking up on me~"
Wait a minute. Did he listen to her ramble on and on about how much she loves him? Oh robot god. That is embarrassing. More embarrassing that she was talking about it in her own room alone. Her visor blushed harder than it did while her eyes widen.
"You... Heard all of that didn't you...."
She may or may not trying to express her feelings on paper. Then acting out before she actually say those things to N. Tiny grip of his pilot hat now. Yep she is frozen.

Streber, huh? That was a rather unique name among humans, at least in N's perspective. He does like how it registers in his processors actually. This Streber wanted to help him. Intentions were considered, and he stares at the smaller man for a few moments longer as though considering what was said to him, the offer made. Another name added to his databank, along with a mental photo for future reference in case he ever needed to identify Streber in or outside of a crisis.
" I am nonhostile as well. " Replies N, an edge of uncertainty still around him, but he seems to perk up. His injured wing shifts, blade-feathers making a scratching sound as metal scraped upon metal with the motion. His long tail sways behind him, less anxious and far more lax now ( though certainly still poised for a quick mock-jab if Streber proved to actually be a threat ).
" My name is Serial Designation: N! You, uh, wouldn't happen to know where we are right now, would you? Planetarywise, not necessarily region location. " This couldn't be Earth, could it? The climate was familiar and yet not at the same time.

His tail whips around behind him eagerly as his companion starts to speak. Honestly, he'd started seeing the other versions of himself as siblings -- and he appreciated their presence. He'd never had siblings before! Not unless C̵y̶n̴ counted... but she was, well, a bit of a wild card.
K-Z sounded like an amazing craft! He'd never considered naming the landing pod he'd initially arrived in before being captured, but he certainly would start thinking of names after this. Maybe talking to Uzi later would also give him some decent insight into fixing his own craft.
Still absolutely beaming in delight, Puppy bares his small fangs in a broad, cheerful grin. " K-Z sounds amazing! I bet she'll look real good once she's in tiptop shape! You should send a picture! " Upon being asked about his own hobbies, he blushes a faded yellow and offers an awkward chuckle.

There are 30 times more jobs created from rooftop solar vs utility-scale solar, utility filing says
Originally published at ILSR.org
In late 2020, the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission asked the state’s electric and gas utilities to discuss what infrastructure projects they had in queue that could be accelerated to support the COVID-battered economy. Tucked into a proposal from Xcel Energy, the state’s largest electric company, was a comparison of two proposed solar projects: one, a giant solar array on the site of a closing coal plant; the other, a small collection of rooftop solar projects to serve low-income residents. In a nondescript table was a bombshell revelation about the relative economic benefits of solar at small scale: for every million the utility proposed spending on rooftop solar, it would create 30 times more jobs than $1 million spent on utility-scale solar.
For every million the utility proposed spending on rooftop solar, it would create 30 times more jobs than $1 million spent on utility-scale solar.
Utilities often and erroneously compare the costs of large and small solar to generate electricity, leaving out the delivery costs not including the the cost of large projects (and that small projects don’t pay). Rather, large-scale solar competes with other large-scale power production, and small-scale with other sources that deliver right to the door (or meter) of our homes and businesses. Both types of solar are competitive. As Minnesota’s value of solar calculation shows, the value of locally-produced power is actually very similar to the retail electricity price. And as shown in a recent grid model from Vibrant Clean Energy, large-scale wind and solar are the most cost-effective new electricity sources compared to other big power generation just about anywhere.
If it’s not the price that matters in choosing large or small, then the economic impacts matter much more. This tidbit suggests that the more money we invest in small-scale solar, the much larger economic multipliers we’ll see across the economy. It squares with the 30 Million Solar Homes campaign that ILSR co-leads, which has (preliminarily) found that an investment in solar for 1 in 4 American households could great $30 billion per year in energy bill savings, create over 1.7 million jobs, and shift more than 5 percent of total electricity use to the sun.
We discuss other factors for public regulators to consider in the utility’s pandemic filing in our full comments below, but it’s clear that a focus on distributed solar can deliver a much bigger economic boost than letting the utility centralized power production, and at a competitive price as well.

RE: Docket 20-492 / In the Matter of an Inquiry into Utility Investments that May Assist in Minnesota’s Economic Recovery from COVID‐19 Pandemic
Dear Mr. Seuffert:
The Institute for Local Self-Reliance (ILSR) respectfully submits the following comments on the Xcel Energy COVID recovery plan and thanks the Commission and Xcel Energy for the conversation. This discussion was inspired. Thank you.
Overall, Institute for Local Self-Reliance offers a few values against which to measure the proposed projects:
Speed — how quickly can they deploy? In general, small scale renewable energy projects can reach commercial operation faster. So if there are options to weight the proposal toward more distributed solar, it can align the deployment time period with the urgency of the recovery
Workforce — Xcel already highlights and ILSR supports the use of using women- and minority-owned businesses, as well as high labor standards for solar projects.
Choice — where possible, customers being served with on-site energy should have a choice of service providers and a choice of ownership
Path dependency — to what extent do proposed projects preclude future developments? For example, do transmission investments reduce the incentive to invest in non-wires alternatives or distributed energy resources for a similar grid impact?
Equity — do programs target economic recovery in a way that addresses the disproportionate impact of COVID on low-income folks and people of color?
In the following section, we provide some perspective on Xcel’s proposed projects based on these decision criteria.
Evaluation of Specific Proposals
The electric vehicle rebates (especially on used vehicles) are an excellent way to accelerate low-carbon vehicle deployment quickly, to reduce driving costs for Minnesota customers, and to enable more customer choice between internal combustion and electric vehicles. ILSR’s only suggestion is that Xcel consider means testing rebates or providing bonus rebates for low-income buyers. The rebates for transit vehicles are even better. The focus on vehicle types that primarily serve vulnerable populations, including low-income residents and children means that the point source pollution reductions will benefit those who need it most.
The wind project repowering also scores highly for speed, workforce development, and increasing renewable energy supply. ILSR’s only suggestion is that Xcel Energy and the Commission consider opportunities to add energy storage during the repowering process, to support more jobs today and deeper reductions in fossil fuel power in the future.
The non-wires proposal for Minneapolis is also an excellent opportunity to test a better model of meeting grid needs with a municipal partner. ILSR strongly supports this proposal.
A Deep Dive into Solar
The solar energy proposals are interesting and merit further discussion. By itself, the utility-scale solar project in Becker serves many worthwhile goals. The replacement of electricity production from Sherco not only serves broader low-carbon electricity goals but also addresses equity by providing jobs and tax base in a power plant community losing a crucial anchor institution. The addition of storage helps to cement progress toward a primarily renewable energy grid. On these merits alone, this project is worthy of acceleration.
However, the low-income rooftop solar proposal raises an interesting question about the utility-scale project: If rooftop solar produces, by Xcel’s estimates, 30 times as many jobs per million dollars of project cost, why aren’t we doing more rooftop solar for economic recovery? The following table shows the jobs and CapEx estimates from Xcel’s filing, with ILSR’s annotation.
Since Xcel customers already invest in rooftop solar with utility-managed incentives such as Solar*Rewards, we also know that customers do not need Xcel to pay the full capital cost. For example, Xcel could provide a bonus $1.35 per Watt rebate for rooftop solar (and storage) for the same cost and supporting the same number of megawatts as the Sherco solar project. If Xcel Energy spent $608 million supporting rooftop solar, it would create over 7,000 jobs at time with high unemployment, especially among African Americans.
So, should Xcel sandbag the Sherco solar proposal for rooftops? No. The proposed project should be done, and given the opportunity and the sunsetting of federal tax credits, should be done as soon as possible.
ILSR suggests that Xcel should also do a rooftop solar expansion project combined with utility-owned storage at substations. Such a proposal would:
Meet more of the criteria that matter for a stimulus proposal, including rapid deployment and employment.
Align with state-expressed goals to expand distributed generation and community solar, by expanding distribution grid hosting capacity.
Support greater resiliency by providing backup power at crucial grid locations.
ILSR suggests the utility provide bonus rebates to support 100 megawatts of residential solar, with rebates scaled to income to provide the biggest boost to low-income households.
A rooftop rebate program would also reduce some of the concerns ILSR has with the low-income solar proposal. The biggest concern is that Xcel owning distributed solar projects inserts a monopoly company into a competitive market. Xcel has the advantage of customer bill data, infrastructure capacity, and an existing relationship with customers that independent solar installers lack. The secondary concern is that being low-income shouldn’t deprive a customer of having a choice of solar installer. Xcel could finance solar on low-income properties without being the installer.
However, low-income solar access is also an example of market failure in Minnesota, where on-site and community solar programs have both struggled to equitably reach low-income customers. With that in mind, it would be unfortunate to turn away any reasonable programs that could provide access to low-income customers, at least on a pilot basis.
Therefore, ILSR suggests that the Commission approve Xcel’s low-income solar program with modifications:
Allowing customers to pick their installer from pre-approved independent contractors.
If Xcel also provides a rebate-based program to expand customer-owned rooftop solar, providing an ownership option for participants and taking advantage of the much higher jobs per megawatt opportunity from distributed solar.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment and for taking up this important conversation; we appreciate that there has not been any legislative preemption of this regulatory process.

LoRa made easy: Connect your devices to the Arduino IoT Cloud
An important new feature is now available in the Arduino IoT Cloud — full support for LoRa® devices!
LoRa® is one of our favorite emerging technologies for IoT because it enables long-range and low power transmission of data without using cellular or WiFi connections. It’s a very powerful and promising technology but it comes with its own complexity. In our pursuit to make IoT easier, we’ve already released a few products that enable anyone to build a LoRa® device (or a fleet of LoRa® devices!). Thanks to the Arduino MKR WAN 1310 board, combined with the Arduino Pro Gateway you can create your own LoRaWAN
network. But we have decided to do more than that, and it’s time to release one more important piece….
The Arduino IoT Cloud now provides an incredibly easy way to collect data sent by your LoRa® devices. With a few clicks, the IoT Cloud will generate a sketch template for the boards that you can adapt to read data from your sensors, pre-process it as you want, and then send it to the IoT Cloud. With a few more clicks (no coding required), you’ll be able to create a graphical dashboard that displays the collected data in real-time and lets users see their history through charts and other widgets. You will not need to worry about coding your own compression, serialization and queueing algorithm, as it will all be done under the hood in a smart way — you’ll be able to transmit multiple properties (more than five), pushing the boundary beyond the packet size limits of LoRaWAN
!
This is our take on edge computing — you program the device to collect and prepare your data locally, and then we take care of shipping such data to a centralized place.
Such a simplified tool for data collection is already quite innovative, but we decided to take it an important step further. All the available solutions for LoRa® currently focus on collecting data, but they do not address it from the other way round i.e. sending data from a centralized application to the LoRa® device(s). Arduino IoT Cloud now lets you do this — you’ll be able to control actuators connected to your device by sending messages via LoRa®, with no coding needed.
Build and control your own LoRaWAN
network with Arduino IoT Cloud, the Pro Gateway and the new improved MKR WAN 1310 board that features the latest low-power architecture to extend the battery life and enable the power consumption to go as low as 104uA.
LoRa made easy: Connect your devices to the Arduino IoT Cloud was originally published on PlanetArduino

Information about Edinburgh Tattoo 2020 Tickets, seating plans, packages and transports
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo will start from the 7-29th August of this year. It is an evening of live military performances from Regiments and Military bands that include the dancers, performers, singers, military displays, massed pipes and drums, special lighting effects and the Lone Piper.
Edinburgh Military Tattoo is just closer to its 70th anniversary that the International Festival and Fringe are celebrating in August 2020. Tattoo fans who want to join this iconic festival can buy Edin Tattoo Tickets from our most consistent and unfailing online platform.
When should I buy 2020 Tattoo Tickets?
Edinburgh Military Tattoo Tickets sale has been started from December 2nd, 2019. Households can buy a maximum of 8 tickets. Edinburgh Tattoo Tickets can be bought from the office in York Street.

For the best selection of seats that suit your budget the earlier the better. Weekdays the performances are Monday to Friday at 9:00 pm and on Saturday at 7:15 pm and 10:30 pm. There is no tattoo on any Sunday in August.
The dates for the extended fireworks at the end of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2020 are 8th/15th/22nd and 29th August 2020.
Its great fun and the 70th birthday year, 2020 will be pretty spectacular. It is also the last year for Brigadier David Allfrey MBE, the Tattoo’s outgoing Chief Executive and Producer of the last 10 years.
A temporary stand is erected here and the seats are outside with no cover or protection from the elements unless you are in the Royal Gallery. These seats are of course are very expensive and can be found in the purple section.
factors must consider when booking Edinburgh Tattoo Tickets 2020.
Edinburgh Tattoo Tickets Prices:
The more you pay, get the seat better. A rough guide to the prices is sections 1/16 & 17 (dark blue and green) are the cheap Edinburgh Tattoo tickets found nearest the castle and sections 8 and 9 (pink & purple) are the most expensive.
The only downside to the cheapest seats is that you may have slightly more awkward visibility to the fireworks display.
The other seats for The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, (metal and quite steep) much prefer sitting in the middle sections 3/4 or 13/14/15 lower down.
The Light blue section offers excellent views and is reflected in slightly higher Edinburgh Tattoo Tickets prices in these sections. Blue Sections 2-5 and 12-15.
Tickets for the Edinburgh Tattoo are priced dynamically, therefore, these seat prices may change subject to demand and availability. Order as early as possible before demand increases so much that the price does too!
The seats for the tattoo start at rows A/b/c and then after the alphabet, they begin in double letters. CC/DD, these seats will be higher up. At ground level the front two rows, A and B are reserved for wheelchair users.
Brown section: Sections 6/7, 10/11 brown colors are regarded as having good views and as such the price rises Fridays and Saturdays. There are no Tattoo performances on a Sunday.
Cheap Edinburgh Tattoo Tickets:
If you apply for the preview 2020 Tattoo tickets before the official opening ceremony these are cheaper.
17-21 August 2020:
These are the expected evenings the program is being recorded by the BBC for worldwide transmission at a later date. August 12, 19, 26 August at 9.00 pm are off-peak evening shows and should be cheaper.
The Best view of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo?
Everyone gets a really good view. People think that they have to sit high up to see but this is simply not the case. The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is arranged and planned to enable everyone to see. The Regiments may enter from Edinburgh Castle but often other performers will enter from the center of the arena.
As the show starts, all artistes came the Royal Boxes initially (purple/pink sections 8/9) but then will move around the large esplanade.
Join Friends of the Edinburgh Tattoo:
If you are worried about getting the Edinburgh Tattoo Tickets you want, then this may be a good option. The benefits are
· The opportunity to purchase Tickets to Edinburgh Tattoo during a priority booking period.
· The opportunity to purchase Tattoo Edinburgh Tickets to attend exclusive Friends’ Backstage Tours (subject to availability).
· 10% discount on Tattoo merchandise.
· A copy of Salute Magazine of Tattoo, the magazine exclusively for Friends of the Tattoo sent to you twice a year.

Edinburgh Tattoo 2020 Packages:
There are many packages, some include a 4-course meal, champagne, or toast to the haggis. Some packages require dress code and some offer seats outdoors and others let you choose your seat. Be sure to check what you are buying.
Something to remember:
Restricted Access:
If you have booked disabled/wheelchair seating – you may be able to request a vehicle pass that will allow access to the Esplanade by car, taxi or ambulance. They are subject to availability and are not available for the preview evening or for any Saturday.
If you have a vehicle pass then you will go on convoy onto Edinburgh Castle Esplanade. Be aware if you are in a taxi you may be waiting for some period of time, pre-agree a set fare, many taxi or private chauffeur will help with this.
Wheelchair Seating:
Large coaches are not allowed to join the convoy. In The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, wheelchair seating is along the front rows of sections 1-5 and 12-17 at ground level and Section 10 facing Edinburgh Castle.
These spaces allow for an attendant’s seat. There are medical services on the esplanade if required and help can be given to push wheelchairs up the cobbled street.
Also, remember that the convoy arrives before everyone is seated which means a longer evening. If it is cool be prepared and bring a blanket, there are people to help and medics on-site if required. Hot drinks are also available to buy on the esplanade and seat cushions and ponchos.
Note:
No umbrellas, no flash photography, no alcohol, and no glass bottles are permitted. Only small bags or rucksacks under 25 liters are permitted. All bags are searched. No vaping or smoking allowed in the tattoo arena. You will also need your ID with official Edinburgh Tattoo Tickets for entry as security is very tight.
What to wear in Edinburgh Tattoo 2020?
It may be warm, it may be cold. This is Scotland after all. Always wear layers and buy the £1 padded seat cushion at the event.
Take a warm jumper over a top. Warm coat with hood, remember, no umbrellas if it rains, comfortable shoes for walking up the cobbled Royal Mile and gloves in my pocket as a backup. The temp changes dramatically around 9.30/10 pm and the later Saturday night 10.30 show will be significantly colder.
The queue to enter the Edinburgh Military Tattoo?
Everyone has allocated seating. It is a very long queue down Johnson Terrace and it’s uphill all the way back to the Castle.
There are no pre-show acts. The commentator is the only warm-up before the Tattoo starts. You may wish to be seated and enjoy the atmosphere. The entrance to the castle is narrow and cobbled and does a bottleneck. If you don’t like crowds wait till nearer showtime.
Edinburgh Restaurants:
There are plenty of restaurants around the Royal Mile and the Grassmarket offering something for everyone's purse.
Book your Edinburgh Tattoo Ticket when you Book your restaurants. Some of the popular nearby restaurants include, Devil’s Advocate, Witchery – can’t get much closer to the Tattoo – The Tower restaurant, 5 min walk, Castle Terrace Restaurant, Amber Restaurant at the Scotch Whisky experience- beside Tattoo, Vittorio on the bridge and the lovely Divino Enoteca Italian restaurant.
Transport for Edinburgh Tattoo 2020:
Edinburgh Transport:
Trains can also be an issue if you are staying for the 10.30 late Saturday night performance which finishes at midnight. The last Scotrail train to Glasgow is usually 11.45 and you would not catch this train after the late show.
City link buses run through the night from Edinburgh to Glasgow. The bus station is beside St Andrews Square.
During the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, there are extended train services for Perth, Dundee, Fife, and North Berwick. The Edinburgh Military Tattoo show lasts one hour and 40 mints.
Edinburgh Buses and Trams:
There are buses and trams around the city to the airport. This may be a good option if you are worried about parking. Consider leaving your car at the ‘Park and Ride’ near Edinburgh airport and take the tram in and out.
Edinburgh Trams have in the past operated an overnight service through the night to 5.30 am during the festival and tattoo making it easier to move around the city and return to your accommodation.
The nearest tram stop from the Edinburgh Military Tattoo is on Princes Street and this will take a brisk 10 min walk to reach but realistically with the crowds more like 20 mints. Walk down the Royal mile then turn right down the Mound to connect with the tram.
Lothian buses have an excellent website and run a night bus till 4.30 am. For details and to plan your route home check out Lothianbuses.com. They have an excellent app and remember an all-day bus pass costs £4.
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Charity:
The Edinburgh Military Tattoo is a none for profit organization, to help support the many Royal military charities and veterans.
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo has its own fireworks at the end of the weekend performances but the locals of Edinburgh know that the best show is always at the end of the Festivals.
Glasgow Annual World Pipe Band Competition:
If you love the pipes and drums don’t miss Glasgow's annual World pipe band competition again held on August 14/15th 2020. It is an amazing day out and of course, Glasgow is a fabulous city famous for Rennie Mackintosh, stunning architecture and a stone's throw from Loch Lomond.

Ravaged by a 14-year-old civil war and the Ebola epidemic, Liberia is presently reeling with election fever. The air is palpable with excitement as young people dance to music blaring from vans or songs they composed. It is a momentous period. This is the first time a democratically elected president will hand over to another President in post war Liberia.
The presidential election is being fiercely contested by 20 candidates. However, there are four frontline candidates; namely incumbent Vice President, Joseph Boakai of the Unity Party (UP); football icon, George Weah of Coalition for Democratic Congress (CDC); Liberty Party’s (LP) Charles Brumskine; and the Alternative Congress’ (ANC) Alexander Cummings. For a country which produced the first female president, there is only one female candidate, MacDella Cooper vying for the Presidency. Obviously, after 12 years in office, President Johnson Sirleaf has not been able to translate gender equality into reality.
The campaign is centred on largely tackling corruption, investing in education, infrastructure and jobs. However, it is left to be seen if people will vote based on issues. When asked what will drive people’s votes, most of the respondents I spoke to retorted “Our Vote, Our Secret”; others retorted it is our turn. Vice President Joseph Boakai is from Foya District, Lofa Country; an area yet to produce a president but has produced vice presidents in the past. Also at play is the all-important tension between Americo Liberians and indigenous Liberians.
However as is prevalent in other African elections, money rules the game. Today in Liberia, people are being paid to participate in rallies, the election is largely about crowd pulling, with each party trying to outdo the other. Voters’ cards are allegedly being procured and people induced to sway votes. According to a friend, elections can best be defined as an opportunity to redistribute wealth. He explained further that the only time every citizen gets access to the wealth of the country is at election time, after the elections those elected monopolise the opportunity to chop the wealth of the nation. There are also contentions that the large Liberian Diaspora are influencing the way their relations back home vote.
On another front, several groups have emerged in the country endorsing candidates. Foremost is the Islamic groups. The National Muslim Heritage Foundation (NAMHFO) endorsed the presidential bid of Joseph Boakai; the Imam Council of Liberia also paid visit to All Liberian Party (ALP) candidate, Benoni Urey; Muslim women led by Aisha Conneh also endorsed the presidential candidate of the Alternative National Congress, Alexander Cummings. Sheki Toure, owner of Aminata and Sons Inc. in a program monitored on 100.5 Prime FM publicly endorsed Vice President Boakai on behalf of Liberian Muslims. According to him, the Muslim community have devised a system where they interview all candidates and thereafter endorse one since 2005.

The National Electoral Commission, NEC, has recruited and is still training election officials. It is fascinating that the classification of officials is according to educational qualifications. The queue controllers are secondary school graduates, presiding officials are university graduates or students, while supervisors are of the highest level of education and professionals. However, the biggest challenge bogging the NEC is logistics. The distribution of electoral materials is a logistical nightmare, particular as the elections will be held during the rainy season. The final batch of the ballot papers have been received but how these materials will reach the hinterland remains a challenge due to roads made unmotorable by the heavy rains. The United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) is assisting in the movement of ballots to provincial capitals and cities, but how this will get down to villages with few days left for the election is a challenge. The NEC has also been criticized for producing over one million extra ballots for the presidential elections. However, the NEC has responded reassuring all that printing contingency ballots are consistent with industry standard practice.
There are minimal fears of violence on Election Day. Nimba County, the stronghold of Yommie Johnson, a self-acclaimed kingmaker and Presidential Candidate of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR), remains the likely hotspot. Bong and Monteserrado where some pre-election violence have been witnessed are also worth watching closely. Clashes may occur largely because of the campaign on Election Day with each party trying to give out food or stipends in an effort to mobilise voters. The Women’s Situation Room is already holding daily sit out, praying for peaceful election with the physical situation room to commence on October 8.
The election observation missions have arrived Liberia in full swing, with the international observer missions fully represented. Having received lots of flak following the Kenyan Presidential election, they have issued several strong statements on the elections. The National Democratic Institute (NDI) has issued several updates on the election with the most recent calling for transparency in the transmission of results, publication of voter rolls etc. In the same vein, the European Union Observer Mission has expressed fears on the ability of NEC to transport and distribute ballots and other election materials few days into the election. Obviously there is a serious shift towards overall electoral integrity and not just focusing on the polling.

It is reassuring that Liberians that I spoke to have faith in their electoral system and its management. When asked if the election can be rigged, not one Liberian responded in the affirmative. All believed that despite the challenges, the elections will reflect the will of the people. In the country’ recent history, the presidential elections are never won in the first round. With 20 candidates and their inability to form a coalition at this stage of the elections, it is likely that the elections will get into second round as no candidate will acquire the required 50 per cent+1. The alliances formed after the first round may very well determine the outcome of the elections.

Why RESTful APIs Can’t Compete with the Event-Driven Approach to Microservices
Can RESTful APIs with microservices deliver when it comes to the critical real-time customer experience? Businesses in all industries and sectors have all sorts of real-time events coursing through them, including human actions, command and control instructions, sensor readings, news feeds, stock ticks, interest rate changes, process alerts, workflow notifications, fault detection, fraud detection – the list goes on!
The number of such events is increasing at an exponential rate. The challenge lies in sensing and capturing and responding to these events in real-time so you can deliver a higher quality of service, offer a better customer experience, and make more informed business decisions. In this post I aim to explain the limitations of RESTful APIs through an ecommerce microservices example. I also explain how an event mesh can help overcome the challenges. Read on to find out more.
The Rise of Microservices + RESTful APIs
To meet the demands of this real-time responsiveness and extreme scale, businesses recognized the need to innovate, modernize and digitally transform. As architectures and technologies evolved, monolithic applications got broken into coarse-grained services (service-oriented architecture) and now into fine-grained services (microservices).
Business capabilities can now be encapsulated as small, autonomous services and exposed via APIs that can be easily consumed by customers, partners, and 3rd parties. Docker and Kubernetes simplified the containerized deployment and orchestration of services, making it easier to scale and manage them.
The loosely coupled, cloud-native, flexible nature of using different technology stacks and containerized deployments across private cloud, multi-cloud, PaaS, serverless, IoT and edge computing devices have made microservices very popular.
RESTful APIs became a common choice for enabling interactions between microservices because of simplicity – services communicate directly and synchronously with each other over HTTP. Developers who have always programmed by making function/method/RPC calls and database read/writes found it easier to design resource-based APIs using the CRUD actions. And off course rich tooling like OpenAPI (Swagger) made it all quick and easy to use.
Tight Coupling and Orchestration Limit Your Real-Time Interactions with Microservices
As an example, let’s take a look at the RESTful API approach to a microservices use case for processing a customer order on an ecommerce platform.
A customer initiates an order via the Storefront Web app, which acts as the orchestrator by invoking the inventory, billing, and shipping services before acknowledging the order to the customer.
This is the sequence of events:
The Storefront app service calls inventory to reserve the product
The app service waits for the response from inventory
When the inventory system confirms availability, the app service then calls the billing service to validate and charge the customer credit card
The app service waits for the response from billing
When billing confirms that the transaction has succeeded, the app service then calls the shipping service to ship the order
As request/reply interactions, the communications between these microservices using REST APIs are inherently synchronous, so they need to happen one at a time, in a pre-arranged sequence, and each interaction blocks progress of the process until its completion. The interactions between different services, and updates to multiple services, are coordinated by an orchestrator, introducing a single point of failure.
The RESTful API approach for the Storefront Web App microservices architecture described above results in these limitations:
Poor Customer Experience – Response time to the user is a cumulative sum of response times of the inventory, billing, and shipping services. Any issue with either of these services means the user does not get a response.
Cascading Failure Scenarios – If the ”Back In-Stock Notifier” service fails, users will not be notified and the inventory service will never be updated. This would result in a lost order.
Lack of flexibility – To add new business capabilities/services (like fraud detection), you need to change the Storefront service or the billing service.
Poor Scalability/Resource Utilization – The shipping service becomes a bottleneck. To scale the shipping service, you also need to scale the Storefront and the inventory services since they are blocking it – a waste of resources because they are still in a blocked/wait state.
A recent Gartner Report states:
Applications become harder to scale and the web of connected APIs harder to manage, leading to ever-more tightly coupled systems. To move beyond the connected APIs and to enable more scalable, contextual and responsive digital business, application leaders add event-driven architecture (EDA) to the core of their platform and design capabilities.1
Let’s explore how event-driven architecture addresses these limitations and delivers on the real-time experience.
The Benefits of an Event-Driven Approach over RESTful APIs for Microservices
We can look at processing the same customer order from our previous example but, this time, with an event-driven approach.
The Storefront App, inventory, billing, and shipping services all connect to something called an event mesh. An event mesh is a network of interconnected event brokers that forms a configurable and dynamic infrastructure layer for decoupled applications, systems, and devices. In this case, the event brokers are Solace PubSub+ Event Brokers.
All communications between these services are loosely coupled, asynchronous events. The one-to-many publish/subscribe messaging pattern allowed for data to be published once and received by multiple, interested subscribers simultaneously. Services do not rely on a central controller, i.e. an orchestrator, to send and receive data.
Using this event-driven approach, these are some of the benefits the Storefront App can capitalize on:
Real-time Customer Experience/Better Response Times: Inventory, billing and shipping services are invoked asynchronously. Services can be executed in parallel, making the response time much faster. Real-time transmission of events (push vs. pull) means services interact with each other in a very robust and efficient manner.
Increased Flexibility and Agility: New services (like fraud detection) can be added without impacting other services. Microservices architecture and independent CI/CD pipelines for each means faster time-to-market for new business capabilities.
Improved Operational Efficiencies and Resiliency: If the ”Back In-Stock Notifier” service fails, the message is stored by the event broker and can be delivered when the service comes back online. Reliable delivery ensures eventual consistency and no data loss. A stateful intermediary also allows for additional fault tolerance, speed mismatches, and shock absorption during peak volumes.
Increased Versatility and Future Proof: If the shipping service becomes a bottleneck, it can be scaled by simply spinning up another instance quickly, making it a highly scalable architecture.
And most importantly, it doesn’t just stop here.
How an Event Mesh Supports Event-Driven Architecture
Although financial services have been the early adopters of event-driven architecture for market data and pricing distribution, event-driven thinking can help every business to deliver a quality service and real-time customer experience to gain a competitive advantage in their market. You can easily scale and extend an event mesh to:
Hook into your enterprise’s ERP, CRM, MDM, supply chain, analytics, AI, and ML applications
Provide edge connectivity to your IoT devices and sensors running at the retail stores, warehouses, distribution centre, and suppliers
Connect your services across environments, from on-prem to different private/public clouds
Solace also offers an event portal called PubSub+ Event Portal that makes it easier to design, develop and manage event-centric applications.
Think about your first morning coffee experience at a coffee shop. If the coffee shop followed the one-to-one model of RESTful API interactions with the microservices – one employee serving one customer – the same employee takes the order, serves the coffee, and takes the payment. In this instance, you would be waiting for your favourite coffee until all of the customers ahead of you are served by that one employee. Waiting time is directly proportional to the length of the queue.
If the coffee shop adopted the one-to-many model instead, each employee serves multiple customers. In this model, one employee will take the orders and the payments, and delegate tasks (making the coffee, serving the coffee) other employees— truly an event-driven advantage! Each customer is served quickly and efficiently instead of waiting for one person to do all the work.
Over the years, Solace has helped and continues to help businesses in financial services, aviation, retail, transport, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, field services, energy, telco, and more in their event-driven journey. If you would like to learn more, it only takes an event (phone call, sms, email) to reach us!

A Regra de 2 minutos para cartao google play
Sign up to discover how to make money fast with everyday activities you already do em linha. Shop on-line, watch entertaining videos, surf the web, and answer surveys to earn Swagbucks. We have promised you a complete guide, that’s why we will also explain how to update Play Store. Well, while downloading the application is required only in specific cases, the Play Store update applies to everyone who has an Android device. In other words, it is an app where you can find millions of new apps for your android. But also, it is an official store managed by Google. Usually you got this app pre- installed in your Android devices, but if you don’t, here we show you how to download Google Play Store. We are sure that you have heard about Google play store; it is the official store of android. This is a platform of digital distribution for users with the operative system android. The Google Play code is written on the Google gift card which is a type of physical card. After getting the gift code, then it is redeemed in the Google account. Google Books is a platform that offers users books, magazines and textbooks. Google has many tie-ups such as the ‘Library Project’ and “Google Books Partner Program” through which the app gets books directly from the publishers and authors. According to recent a report, Google Play books have access to more than 25 million books. Our goal is to tell you everything you need, that’s why we begin this post defining what Play Store is and how it works. Search or browse for a book. If you know the name of the book you want to send, type it into the white bar at the top of the screen, then tap the magnifying glass key to search. Otherwise, use the categories at the top of the screen to browse by genre or book type. A time saving revolutionary product that operates digitally; would you not go for ant product that promises the same, especially when it is marketed by Google. This means, you pelo longer have to wait in a queue patiently for booking a movie ticket. In general, you will find that there are several types of Google Play store codes. Thus, you can select one as per your choice and requirement. It has been noticed that the type of Goggle gift card is completely dependent on the amount that you are about to spend. Our payment security system encrypts your information during transmission. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Learn more For google play gift card this you can use an USB cable or the Bluetooth if you can. After this you have to search for the file on your device; for this you can use an app file manage, when you find it you have to tap it and install it. Gostei bem do tutorial, contudo queria saber quais sãeste as taxas de que ele cobra. Digamos de que eu coloque R$ 30, quantos reais eles irão retirar de mim para remunerar taxas? One of the key issues that explains the rise of these devices, has been the development of the App, which have become fundamental allies to perform thousands of tasks through such devices.
