The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammet was our choice for the most collectible mystery novel of 1930. The story made the jump into film a few times. While it is best known for the 1941 version featuring Humphrey Bogart, that version had quite a bit of "lewd material" cut out of it. Fun fact: Bing had be arrested for drunk driving before filming so Paul Whitman had him brought to the set, from jail, in in handcuffs everyday to film.
