So, I'm gonna use November to catch up on some drawings I'm gifting to people, but, I'm thinking ahead to December and I want to do something to close out the year/ celebrate a follower milestone! (Not that follower counts mean anything but it's fun to celebrate haha)

What are some types of things I should do? I'll do a poll but feel free to leave comments if you think of something else! I'll decide on what I'll do after the poll☺️

The Flower Husbands / Ethubs parallel (No Stranger Curses AU):

Alt Title: "Why Scott and Etho do not get along."

Scott falls in love in the last days of summer. To him, love looks like gold. Sunlight caught in golden hair. Warm wind blowing through golden leaves. Two gemstones studded in a golden ring. They make their home in a place where all the flowers of autumn bloom, the poppies and roses and marigolds. They ignore the warmongering and drama. While they can, they choose to be happy.

He is not so naïve as to believe this will be forever. Not so foolish as to believe his strength will be enough. This "game" means nothing but death for all of them. But he puts that all aside, because he wants. He wants to hope. He wants to love. Even if he knows it will break his heart.

The days grow shorter, and darker, and colder, and he is so, so scared. He should trust Jimmy to protect himself, but he doesn't. He tries to stop fearing the worst every time they are apart, but he can't. He's not proud of the alliance he strikes up to protect them both, but for the two of them he would do anything and it would be worth it.

…He buries Jimmy where the dawn's first light catches on winter's final flowers. He knew this was coming, dreaded the inevitable, but his heart still hurts. He carried on because he was fighting for more than just himself, but what now?

When he falls, he hopes that at least he can be at peace. When he wakes again, that hope is shattered. Scott thinks he might be the only one who remembers the game that came before. It doesn't matter. He'll see this one through to the end, no matter what.

Etho falls in love beneath grey skies. His love is all the colors of the forest that surrounds them. Green like the trees, like the moss, like his eyes. Brown like the dirt, like their doorstep, like the color blood dries. Loving Bdubs is easy. It feels familiar. It's not hard to imagine that maybe somewhere, before everything, they loved like this.

(Scott sees far too much of himself and Jimmy in the two of them. It leaves a bitter taste on his tongue. He knows exactly how this ends.)

Etho isn't one to frame his love in light and flowers. He frames it in the careful arrangement of quiet and noise, laughter and empty threats. They make their home a castle, white walls on a snowy mountaintop. They build up every battlement with their own bare hands, pretending, if just for a moment, that they can escape the game outside for good. Live in peace forever. Stave off the looming shadow of death.

The first time Bdubs falls to his red life, Etho is terrified. He blusters, and schemes, and fights, because it is the only way he knows to hide when his voice trembles and his hands grow unsteady. Over and over again, he claws Bdubs back from the brink. He stays up late into the night, every night, restlessly planning for every possibility. Exploiting every advantage, every person, with vicious dedication.

(Scott does not entertain his threats for even a moment. He's sure to give Etho a piece of his mind whenever he tries. "Give up on him", he all but says. "You're just prolonging the inevitable." His words are met with disdain.)

The last time Bdubs falls to his red life, their castle is torn apart, and that feels like an omen. The survivors, no matter their old allegiances, band together out of necessity, and Etho can't help but notice that Scott immediately asserts himself. He doesn't like it, but he's been wearing himself thin for months now. He's too tired to piece together quite why this alliance makes him feel uneasy.

Bdubs finds them hours later in the middle of the night, crimson-eyed and not quite himself; sinister in the way all red lives are. There's no further way around it. Etho can feel the static-buzz of magic in his chest as he offers Bdubs a life, and yet Scott stops him. "He needs to earn it", is the objection. "Have him kill someone for us," Scott whispers in his ear. He hesitates. That seems… fair. Right? A life for a life. That makes sense.

It is not until far, far too late that Etho numbly realizes what Scott has done. He never gets to bury Bdubs. He never gets to see the body. He's never quite the same again, distant and short-spoken. Cleo is the only one who seems to realize that he is so desperately angry.

(Scott does not feel bad about this. He does not regret this. He tells Cleo as much when she confronts him about it. They argue about it all the way up until the fateful battle with Joel. Scott knows he's right, though. There was only one way this was ever going to end.)

This could just be my own lack of understanding of British culture and nuances in class dynamics... but sometimes I see posts saying things along the lines of "the marauders were not cool kids, they were nerdy dorks with silly nicknames and niche and extremely ambitious academic obsessions!"

My reading of this is that in the context of Hogwarts being the magic version of a posh boarding school, inspired by books like Tom Brown School Days... academic success is actually absolutely seen as a virtue, and it does not make you nerdy or uncool? Of course you can be "swotty" like Hermione, but Sirius casualness when taking his OWLs and by the lake when Remus asks if he wants to revise... I think it's an indicator of a kind of effortless and suave academic success.

I don't mean to imply they did not study or anything, I just think people might be applying American high school dynamics to what I can only imagine is more like very old-timey British boarding school culture.

I don't know because I am not british or american! Just my guess.

Also, my girlfriend never read Harry Potter before and she just finished OOTP... never once she referred to Sirius, Remus, Peter or James as "marauders". She always says "Harry's dad's friends". Could the whole "they call themselves marauders" be fanon? Am I in too deep to see?

I'll be honest I have no idea what boarding schools are like anywhere in the world haha. I went to state school in London for first and middle, and a public high school in America. (confusingly public school means the opposite in the UK and US haha)

But I agree, I think that the Marauders were considered cool kids and they were popular in general. They were intelligent and good at school but not obsessed with school the way Hermione is-- I mean they're the rule breakers of all time, and Sirius acts as if he doesn't have to study for anything lmao. I think their effortless academic success would absolutely be considered a virtue and not 'nerdy.'

I attended high school in America so I'm probably in a good position to compare! And even in my school I'd say that there were popular boys who were intelligent and admired for their intelligence. Maybe the school I went to just didn't care about jocks haha-- and also this might be tinged by my own experience because I was friendly with some of those boys, but I can't really remember many boys who were on sports teams. The group I was adjacent to were popular because they were funny/intelligent/outgoing/liked to party, basically. The class clown type. So personally I don't think this is even a boarding school thing in particular.

I get asked this a lot here in Spain and in the UK, but my high school experience in America wasn't much like the dynamics you see in films-- there were cheerleaders running around in their little skirts which was so wild to me haha but also nobody cared. In general it was cool to not care and be apathetic about life. All of this could be that the city where I lived is pretty culturally alternative, I guess.

Anyway that was a tangent. You could be right that it's somewhat based on at least the film tropes of an American high school. But in the three countries I've lived and gone to school in, including America, what generally determined popularity is how outgoing, funny, and charming you were-- and I think being funny and charming requires a certain level of intelligence. The exclusivity the Marauders had, their untouchable status and their mystery, probably also added to their popularity. Not to mention Sirius was attractive and James was a talented quidditch player.

Right now... I can't remember if they ever call themselves the Marauders apart from on the Map. And that's interesting because the Map is very much addressed to an external audience, as if they made it in order to pass it on to future Marauders lol. They absolutely had dorky nicknames but that was very much an in-group thing-- and also my headcanon is that they started using 'Moony' first in 2nd year, and then eventually came up with the other nicknames to make him feel more included haha.

Even if them calling themselves the Marauders is technically fanon I think it's fanon that works and is also pretty likely intended to be canon tbh. I typically don't have other people in the school refer to them as 'Marauders' though, rather 'that lot' or whatever lol

Mini Frankenstein Monster I doodled on Monday, loosely using my NECA figure as a reference.

(The numbers are from a game we were playing beforehand, lol).

Done freehand in ballpoint pen, except for the eyes and nose I drew in pencil first and the mistake on his jawline I tried to cover up with my white brush pen (I think it sort of worked?). It took me about 10-15 minutes to draw him.

I’m pretty happy with it, he turned out really cute in this sketch. I need to doodle more and do less “strenuous” projects 😩 I kind of struggled making him “sketchy” instead of “polished” (making each line as perfect as possible) though, I tend to impulsively refine all my art to the extreme!

I love that Eiden is also a maid, and that the intimacy scenes seem to be taking place in the break room(s?) of the cafe like. imagine being a customer there. you and your buddy decide to check out a maid cafe because they're popular and for some reason father olivine is working there as a bunny maid? okay. wait actually. that's the grand sorcerer. and this guy looks a lot like the pictures you've seen of solaria's leader !? you don't know who the other guy is but you swear you've seen him with the grand sorcerer before so he must be important. why the hell are they working here!? it takes you a while to adjust but now you're enjoying a delicious sundae (and the bromides sitting in your pockets are going to become family heirlooms) and then you notice the grand sorcerer taking one of the other maids through a door marked staff only. you hear some banging noises and yep, those are definitely muffled moans. a while later they come out looking slightly disheveled but very blissed out. you get so horny imagining what went on in that room that you pass out. when you come to you're convinced you've died and gone to heaven because you're resting on father olivine's lap and his tits are inches from your face while he looks at you like an angel. with bunny ears. a few weeks later a trader proudly displays an image of DanDan on the market in solaria and the black market price for DanDan merch reaches exorbitant levels.

besties . omg … in my town there’s only 3 lil charity shops . i love them all so much (one sells dvds for 50p it’s beautiful).. and i just saw online that one of them (my favourite hehe) is hiring for a deputy manager .. i… HELLO ?!?!!! omg ……. i need to sleep rn because i have work tomorrow but you bet i’m applying for it oh my godddd .. everyone please manifest this for me it would be so so so so soooo good i’m going to CRY !!! it’s literally like a 15 minute walk away from my home and it would be working for a charity in a little shop i love and i’d be a deputy manager and AAAAAA .. i’m going to cry i actually want this so bad .. i will update when i send my application but for now everyone manifest me getting this job like because it’s just a little town hopefully not many others have applied for it lol
