top tip for new gif people because i've seen a few recently (which is really cool) - tumblr will compress your gif to a width of 540px when you upload it. this compression won't retain as much quality as if you just resize it to 540px across in photoshop/whatever program you use. tumblr will suck the life out of your beautiful crisp 1080px gif whereas photoshop will do its best not to (resizing in vapoursynth or similar is ideal but that's not necessary and often too much effort for adults with real lives)

veeery curious about your thoughts on how to better the revival system in ii18?

I’ll srsly have to back to you on this one! In the meantime I’ll show you what I’ve got so far, and what my main gripes were with what we will call “the DR (death race)”

If you love it that’s so awesome and I’m so happy for you BUT the DR just feels like a contrived convenience to me, it also recontextualizes and makes the deaths in ii 17 feel cheap to me personally. It was just too easy to come back from imo and I think mephone should have a hand in helping bring everyone back.

I’ve been using what meager computer science skills I have to come up with a more interesting recovery method. (See image)

Only just started my research so I can’t give you an answer that would satisfy me on this topic JUST YET!!! I’m a nerd and my own recovery mini game needs to be accurate to computer science AND hit all the right character development points

Just finished making a circuit diagram in Fritzing and I don’t know if I’m doing it wrong or something because it was pretty annoying to put together.

This is the diagram that I made, really simple yet it took me a while. It wasn’t hard to find the parts that I wanted to add, but the controls for moving them around were simply annoying to use. Not to mention the weird zoom in/out controls. For some reason I couldn’t use the touchpad to zoom out? Only zoom in? Idk, I’ll make another post if it gets better with use.

If you want to see my circuits homework for whatever reason, it’s under the cut.

Here’s a video of the circuit in question working in real life. The goal is to make the light turn off for two seconds only after the button is released. LED is in series with a 100 ohm resistor just to make sure it doesn’t burn out (and to make it a little less painful on the eyes). Button is wired in a pulldown resistor setup (the detector is after the button) with a 10k resistor. This is so that when the button is pressed, the value reads as high.

This is the C++ code that is running on the Arduino uno. It just uses an If else statement to control the state of the LED according to the button. Read the comments (grey text) for a short explanation of what each line does. If you want a more in depth explanation uhh message me I guess.

I might lack the motivation to see it through, but I really like your dazatsu works, so I was wondering how you motivate yourself to create fanfiction? How do you get into the headspace of the characters?

Motivation is a fickle mistress, it's hard to say what EXACTLY motivates me. I guess the best answer is 'I write the fanfic I wish there was'. The true 'write what you want to read', I am usually really motivated to write something I wish to read so badly - a hole in the market, or a certain concept I wish I could do my way that would cater to all the things I like.

Since I also primarily write shipping fanfics, engaging with canon/fanart/other fanfics on the pair also motivates me greatly. Reminds me of why I like the characters and want to write about them in the first place

I quite like getting into the headspace of the characters, at least those I like a lot, haha. For me, it's always the question of "would this character to this?" - when I think of them doing or saying something, I think back on what I know of the character, if there were similar situations to this one in the canon and try to think what would be the most logical thing for that character to do. Like puzzle pieces - canon gives you puzzle pieces, and you can either arrange them how you want, or see what new pieces can fit to existing ones.

I think just good thing to keep in mind when you writing a character do something is the question of 'why are they doing this'. The why's come from their personality, their past or the circumstances of the story (the events or even the rules of the world)

Also, something that motivates me and I'm very lucky to have - good community! Comments are a wonderful motivation. And the power of friends?? Absolutely amazing. Half my motivation to finish things is solely to talk to my writing friends about it 😂

i had a professor look at the weather tomorrow, realize its too cold to walk safely (below 0F degrees at the time of day i'd be out to get to class), remember that i reached out about accommodations, and email me to ask if we need to set up a video call to go over what she covered in class instead. this same teacher also included her pronouns in her syllabus.

i think this semester is gonna be ok
