Feeling Defeated but Not Giving Up
Today hit hard. The plan my fiancé and I had—moving into his parents' condo—might not happen after all. The tenant might buy it, and just like that, we’re back to square one. I get why he doesn’t want to move in here. It would slow down our savings, and we have goals. But moving in with his parents? That’s a tough pill to swallow. Privacy matters. Our sanity matters. A year isn’t forever, but it’s long enough for things to unravel if we’re not careful. And I refuse to let bottled-up frustrations be the thing that breaks us.
On top of that, the job hunt is exhausting. It’s one thing for companies to claim they “value their employees,” but it’s another to actually pay them what they’re worth. I know what I bring to the table, but finding an employer who truly sees that feels impossible.
But I’m not just sitting here. I started my Project Management course on Coursera, hoping it’ll add some weight to my resume and open new doors. I also plan on finishing my bookkeeping course—another skill under my belt. It’s all an investment in myself, in my future.
Debt looms over me like a storm cloud, and Scotiabank? A whole mess. They say one thing, then do another, and I feel like I’m running in circles. The only way out is through. I need that higher-paying job. I need to spend only what I have. I need to keep going.
I feel defeated today, but I won’t stay down. Because this? This is just a chapter, not the whole story.

I refuse to dive deeper into project management at my day job, but I'm so thankful for developing the skill in the first place and how easy it made self publishing.
I see so many authors bagging on themselves like “why can’t I ever finish anything, I’m a terrible artist and a terrible writer”, and what I want to say based on my professional assessment of their work and where it tends to fall apart is “your art and writing are fine, your real problem is that you’re a shitty project manager” – but of course you can’t actually say that, because while it’s true, it’s almost never actually helpful to tell someone out of the blue that their real issue is that they entirely lack a critical skill-set they didn’t even know existed.

He should be at the Adventurer's Guild.

His passion for theatrics and storytelling is something to behold.#He's one of my favourite characters in severance. Antagonist perhaps but he's also so much more human than he first appears.#There is a guy underneath the professional mask who has a creative passion that his 9-5 turned 24/7 crushed!#Get him out of the (corporate) basement and put him into the (game room) basement!#That aside; this was supposed to be a little doodle to take a break from my animation project. And then I kept making it more elaborate.#Not sure where this new era of art is going but I'm having fun!

Mastering Project Success: Defining Project Scope and Managing Resources Effectively

Introduction to Project Scope and Resource Management
Project scope refers to the detailed outline of all aspects of a project, including its goals, deliverables, tasks, costs, and deadlines. Defining the project scope is the first step in project management, and it sets the stage for the entire project. Without a well-defined scope, projects are susceptible to scope creep, delays, and cost overruns.
Resource management, on the other hand, is about planning, scheduling, and allocating resources such as people, tools, and materials needed to complete the project. Effective resource management ensures that resources are used efficiently, maximizing productivity and minimizing waste.
The Importance of Defining Project Scope
One of the top challenges in project management is defining the project scope accurately. An ill-defined scope can lead to miscommunication, unrealistic expectations, and project failures. A clear project scope helps:
Set Clear Objectives: Defining the project scope ensures that all stakeholders have a shared understanding of what the project is supposed to achieve.
Establish Boundaries: It clarifies what is included in the project and what is not, which helps avoid scope creep—the tendency for a project’s requirements to increase over time.
Improve Resource Allocation: With a well-defined scope, you can allocate resources more effectively, ensuring that the right resources are available when needed.
Enhance Communication: A clear scope document serves as a communication tool, aligning the project team and stakeholders on the project’s objectives and deliverables.
Steps to Define Project Scope
1. Identify Project Objectives and Goals
The first step in defining the project scope is to clearly identify the project’s objectives and goals. These should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART). The project goals will guide the entire scope definition process.
2. Gather Requirements
Requirement gathering is a critical step where all stakeholders are involved in identifying the needs and expectations from the project. This process includes:
Interviews and surveys: Gathering input from stakeholders.
Workshops and brainstorming sessions: Collaborative efforts to define requirements.
Document analysis: Reviewing existing documents for relevant information.
3. Define Deliverables
Deliverables are the tangible or intangible outcomes that the project is expected to produce. Clearly defining these deliverables ensures that everyone knows what the project will deliver.
4. Develop a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
A Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is a hierarchical decomposition of the total scope of work to accomplish the project objectives. It breaks down the project into smaller, manageable components, ensuring that nothing is overlooked.
5. Validate Scope with Stakeholders
Once the scope is defined, it’s crucial to validate it with all stakeholders. This ensures that everyone agrees on the project’s objectives, deliverables, and boundaries.
6. Document the Scope
Finally, document the project scope in a Scope Statement or Project Scope Document. This document should be clear, concise, and easily accessible to all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Managing Resources for Project Success
Effective resource management is crucial for the successful completion of any project. It involves identifying, allocating, and managing resources in a way that maximizes efficiency and productivity.
1. Identify Resources Needed
The first step in resource management is to identify all the resources required to complete the project. These include:
Human resources: Project team members, stakeholders, and consultants.
Physical resources: Equipment, materials, and facilities.
Financial resources: Budget, funding, and financial reserves.
2. Allocate Resources Efficiently
Resource allocation involves assigning the right resources to the right tasks at the right time. This requires careful planning and coordination to ensure that resources are not over-allocated or underutilized.
Use Resource Management Tools: Tools like Microsoft Project or Asana can help in planning and tracking resource allocation.
Prioritize Tasks: Identify critical tasks and allocate resources accordingly to ensure that these tasks are completed on time.
3. Monitor Resource Usage
Monitoring resource usage is essential to ensure that the project stays on track and within budget. Regularly review resource allocation and usage to identify any issues early.
Use Performance Metrics: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as resource utilization rates, productivity, and budget adherence.
Adjust as Needed: Be flexible and ready to reallocate resources if necessary to address any emerging challenges.
4. Manage Human Resources
Managing human resources involves more than just assigning tasks. It’s about leading, motivating, and supporting the project team to achieve the project goals.
Build a Strong Team: Select team members with the right skills and experience.
Foster Collaboration: Encourage communication and collaboration among team members.
Provide Training: Ensure that team members have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their tasks effectively.
5. Optimize Resource Utilization
Optimizing resource utilization means making the best use of available resources to achieve the project goals. This involves:
Balancing Workloads: Ensure that workloads are evenly distributed among team members to avoid burnout.
Minimizing Waste: Reduce waste by using resources efficiently and avoiding unnecessary expenditures.
Leveraging Technology: Use project management software and other tools to automate tasks and improve efficiency.
Challenges in Defining Project Scope and Managing Resources
Despite best efforts, project managers often face challenges when defining project scope and managing resources. Some common challenges include:
Scope Creep: Uncontrolled changes or continuous growth in a project’s scope can lead to delays and budget overruns.
Resource Constraints: Limited availability of resources can hinder project progress and affect quality.
Poor Communication: Miscommunication between stakeholders and project teams can result in misunderstandings and conflicts.
Unrealistic Expectations: Overly ambitious project goals can lead to unrealistic expectations and ultimately, project failure.
Best Practices for Success
To overcome these challenges, project managers can adopt the following best practices:
1. Involve Stakeholders Early
Involving stakeholders in the early stages of the project ensures that their needs and expectations are understood and incorporated into the project scope.
2. Use Project Management Tools
Leverage project management tools like Trello, JIRA, or Microsoft Project to plan, track, and manage project scope and resources effectively.
3. Communicate Clearly and Regularly
Regular communication with stakeholders and project teams is essential to ensure that everyone is on the same page.
4. Conduct Regular Reviews
Conduct regular project reviews to assess progress, identify potential issues, and make necessary adjustments.
5. Stay Flexible
Flexibility is key in project management. Be prepared to adjust the project scope and resource allocation as needed to address any challenges that arise.
Conclusion
Mastering the art of defining project scope and managing resources is essential for any project manager. A well-defined scope sets the foundation for project success, while effective resource management ensures that the project is completed on time and within budget. By following the steps and best practices outlined in this guide, you can enhance your project management skills and lead your projects to success.
Whether you're a seasoned project manager or just starting, understanding the nuances of project scope and resource management will significantly impact your project's outcomes. Remember, the key to success lies in careful planning, clear communication, and ongoing monitoring and adjustment.

january month of yuugi
#yugioh#ygo dm#yugi mutou#idk what was in the water on 2025 opening but it really got me thinking hm. I will finally draw yuugi#ygo has been in my dna for like close to a decade at this point and yet. I have never attempted to draw anything for it#until now. my audacity has finally reached quota#wishshipping saved my ass this lunar new year and its not even an exaggeration. thank you kazuki takahashi for the boys. rest in peace#mutou yuugi I love u.... u r my son#not mentioned in this stack but dsod's decision to thin yuugi's choker is the funniest shittiest character design decision on earth#like as a detail its so nothing. when u zoom out it just looks like a shadow dropped wrong somewhere. I have come to terms with#the other fashion choice for him in that movie but the tiny ass choker I don't accept. that's stupid. big it#I rly like the vision of older yuugi being like. obnoxiously polite and cheerful#specifically in a way that's not like ceding space for everyone else. like it's clear at all time that he's Like That#and nobody will be able to stop him from being Like That#and also tbh I can never imagine him leaving domino for long (<- definitely not projecting my city slicker ass on him)#I think the game shop's been where he's safe to be himself for so long that he'd want to keep it running and extend#that shade to other kids in the city too. his loyal customers are so scared of disappointing him for no reason#.... typed huge wall of text abt jou leaving domino for tournaments etc frequently but always coming back to hang out with yuugi#I am actually ill abt them huh.... maybe ygo was the progenitor honestly maybe it started me on the two blokes who do fuckall ships#yuugi is so cute but I do know in my heart tho he does Not cook. that kid has never learned and will never manage#I know he doesnt even have water in his office whenever he works. scared of spilling#its a good thing hes got friends galore now people are blowing his phone up wasting their sms toll telling him to drink water#(slowly tipping into mania) I just think he's so neat. love that boy he's so cute

Your project team is organisationally flat? Cool – so is this a "we have a boss in practice, but their decisions can never be challenged or held accountable because nobody will admit that they're in charge" situation, or is it more of a "mission-critical tasks that nobody is excited about doing simply don't get done" sort of deal?

News spreads fast.
[First] Prev <–-> Next
#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#jin guangyao#wei wuxian#jiang cheng#I absolutely love the contrast between JGY and JGS in this scene.#While JGS is acting as an instagator and trying to fan the flames of discontent (pulling his devious (g) strings)#JGY tries to keep a fairly neutral stance. If anything he reads like someone who's attempting to chair an unruly group project.#Honestly I think this scene does so much to show us why JGY manages to become the respectable leader he does in the future.#He's actully good at leading discussions and doesn't rise to bait. He's trying to start a productive discussion with *real facts*.#There is genuine honour in his approach and he never jumps into the emotional bandwagon.#The issue at the moment is that he doesn't have same level of authority as the contrastively *worst* sect leader does.#Jin Guangshan has a very specific agenda - to gain power by throwing anyone he deems expendable into the gutter.#The story even explicitly calls him out on not being so different from Wen Rohan multiple times.#The insidious part is that he's surrounded by people who think this is all justified.#It's all about using the 'victim' narrative to leverage justification. Which I'll get into more in upcoming comics.#(cut off text in panel one is supposed to be 'dead girls walking' but I ran out of room to make that clear. whoops!)

I haven’t really posted anything about my vi felt despite having been working on it since october, but here’s a WIP of pants + torso.
anyone who needlefelts or works with natural fiber will know how shitty dark wool is about light absorption. to make sure you can actually *see* any of the form of the sculpt or the details I’ve added, let alone differentiate between different elements of her completely chromatic design, I’ve had to try and manually add the look of digital rendering with hand-mixed colors. insanely time consuming but I think it’s so so worth it
#needlefelting#arcane#arcane fanart#vi arcane#art wip#wool art#original art 2025#lmk if you guys would be interested in more felting stuff I would be so happy to go off about it I love it SO much#I’m FINALLY at the point of seeing an end to this project and it feels so good. just finished her tats and upper body makeup#next is finishing boot’s probably. then trying to tackle the goddamn jacket again#which was originally going to be carried in that front arm but I then changed to frappes over her back#I am So scared lol#if I can manage that though then I really only have hair face and final rendering details to finish yay!!
