welcome to the graphic novelization of ride the cyclone

have you ever wondered what ride the cyclone would look like as a graphic novel? well, so have i. after about a year, i’ve finally decided to at least try to pursue this project. however, i don’t want this graphic novel to be something that only i want to see. therefore, I’m going to set up various polls from time to time to see what you would like to see. this will be a collaboration between me and anyone who answers the polls.

the current timeline for this project consists of a few stages, which will be listed below:

picking the “cast”. for each character, i will be making a poll of as many different actors/actresses that have portrayed the character. whoever wins the poll will be the inspiration for both the characters design and personality.

character sheets. i will be posting character sheets with basic information on each character after the poll is finished, so feel free to send in your hcs/characterizations of the characters

designing the main “set”. much like the characters, i will be making a poll of as many different sets of rtc that i can think of. whichever set wins will be the primary inspiration for the actual setting

writing the script of the graphic novel. while i will likely be sticking very close to the script of the show, i will be making polls on adding scenes, different choreographies, and much much more

creating a model of the main “set”. this will be worked on in tandem with four, however, will likely not be posted/as featured. i will however be posting progress shots along the way.

making the comic. this likely will be the slowest part of the project, but will ideally have the most content posted/created. i also will (hopefully) be making fanart during this project so that way there is still content to be consumed. the posting of pages/chapters will be voted upon in a poll when we are closer to this part of the project

WaPo: Trump proposals could drain Social Security in 6 years, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget

A new report projects that the Social Security Trust Fund might run out of money within six years under a Donald Trump presidency, while Vice President Kamala Harris’s proposed policies would not meaningfully change the current trajectory.

Social Security faces a looming funding crisis in an aging country, with trustees most recently predicting that the retirement and disability program’s trust fund will become insolvent in 2035. Many of Trump’s campaign proposals would accelerate that timeline, potentially by years, said the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a nonpartisan group that opposes large federal deficits. In a report released Monday, the organization concluded that many of Trump’s proposed second-term agenda items all work in the same direction when it comes to the Social Security Trust Fund. The budget group did not produce a similar report on Harris’s policies because they would have a negligible effect measured only in weeks or months rather than years, said Marc Goldwein, CRFB’s senior policy director. Compared to prior presidential campaigns, Goldwein said, “I can’t think of anything that would be this order of magnitude” in its detrimental effect on Social Security’s bottom line compared to the policies Trump has proposed.

Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt dismissed the report in an email to The Washington Post: “The so-called experts at CRFB have been consistently wrong throughout the years.” She said Trump’s energy and trade policies would improve the economy to “put Social Security on a stronger footing for generations to come,” and alleged that Harris would damage the program by allowing millions of undocumented immigrants to stay in the country. The campaign promise made by Trump that would most directly affect Social Security collections is his promise that no Social Security recipients should have to pay federal income taxes on their benefits. Under current law, 40 percent of beneficiaries pay taxes on some portion of their Social Security. The tax they pay on their benefits goes directly back to the trust fund, and getting rid of it could cost the program almost $1 trillion over 10 years, the report forecast. Other Trump policies might have indirect effects. Trump’s pledge to deport millions of undocumented workers could cost the trust fund hundreds of millions of dollars, the CRFB said. Many undocumented immigrants have payroll taxes taken out of their paychecks for the Social Security Trust Fund, but never become eligible to claim benefits, so they are a net positive for the program.

Trump’s proposed high tariffs on all imports could affect the economy in several ways detrimental to Social Security’s financial health, CRFB said. If the tariffs drive high inflation as projected by Wall Street experts, Social Security will have to pay out more in benefits because of automatic cost-of-living adjustments based on inflation. The report also pointed to Trump’s promises not to tax tip income or income earned during overtime hours. Trump has not clarified whether he means to exempt them from federal income taxes only or also from taxes that fund Social Security and Medicare. If he means the latter, that could cost Social Security $150 million to more than $1 trillion over a decade, with the likely outcome on the very high end of that range, CRFB said.

Let me warn everyone right now - this is probably the only stand-alone post I’ll make about Venus Rx in 2025. What I plan to do instead is write more about each step in my weekly forecasts. So if it’s important to you, screenshot that timeline and write the dates down in your planner!

Astrologically, the timing and placement of this particular Rx Zone just boggle my mind. Here is Venus moving back and forth over late Pisces/early Aries - as the Lunar Nodes move from early Aries/Libra to late Pisces/Virgo - as Saturn and Neptune begin their year-long transition from Pisces to Aries - and as transiting Mercury gets in on the action, having its Rx Zone cover exactly the same Zodiacal ground beginning the day before Venus stations retrograde.

Anyway, during Venus retrograde times, we are meant to reflect upon our sense of self-worth and our relationships. Can’t have one without the other...? It’s comparable to the stories of the Mesopotamian goddess Inanna descending to the Underworld (most likely woven around Venus’ Rx cycles) - Inanna ends up stripping herself (or being stripped) of all her outer accoutrements, in order to be reborn.

Some general warnings about this time period, based on Venus’ areas:

Arts - without fail, every time Venus has an RZ, I get an idea for some grandiose, complicated project for knitting or crocheting. And without fail, every time this grand project ends up abandoned. It’s okay to continue working on the art projects you already have going, but hold off on starting anything new.

Beauty - how many impulsive, disastrous makeovers have occurred during Venus Rx, I wonder? DO NOT CHOP OFF ALL YOUR HAIR. Instead, consider ways to revamp your wardrobe and image. Consider, but don’t act until Venus is direct again.

Love - traditionally, this is a time when past lovers reenter our lives. Equally traditional is the end result, namely, asking ourselves in horror, ��What was I thinking?” Some love karma may not be quite as paid off as we presumed. It’s a good time to search out what it was we were supposed to learn from the experience.

Money - get-rich quick schemes based off our own gullibility. Throwing money away on whatever is our escapist vehicle of choice - booze, drugs, food, TV, gaming, the list goes on and on.

Look to the house(s) in your birth chart, which contain the sliver of Zodiac between 24° Pisces and 10° Aries, to see where the action will be. Natal 2nd House? Pay attention to your budget! Natal 7th House? Beware those returning past partners!

And since Venus Rx is cyclical, think back eight years to February-May 2017 - Feb-May 2009 - even Feb-May 2001 - and review what happened then. (These RZs are in my natal 5th House, and sure enough, I was exclusively concerned with my kids and their drama during those times.)

We have a week of Venus/Pisces before she moves on to Aries - a week of wistful daydreaming. Take note of what seems to pop up; you’ll revisit it during the next few months. Something wonderful you don’t want to let go - something wonderful you don’t dare believe could be meant for you.

There is also a spectacular set up between February 1-3, when Venus, Neptune, and the North Node all are conjunct in very late Pisces - joined on Saturday the 1st by the Moon attaining her Crescent phase, and all of them semi-square the Aquarius Sun. Well, it’s official. I have art block. 😵‍💫

I’m still making progress on the game, and i had a really great time drawing your guys’ requests. But i cannot for the life of me draw rn.

Maybe it’s natural burnout after cranking out those first 50ish pages of Nexus. I’m also having to do a lot of extra work irl for family and my day job. My therapist is telling me to rest more, etc etc.

I bring all this up just to say that if you were waiting for more art, it might be a while. I’ve come out of art slumps swinging before, but it’s hard to say how long it’ll be.

(I really need to get out of the habit of forecasting updates on projects, because it never ever turns out on the timeline i plan on—ahead or behind.)

So!

The website has been updated to include:

An adjustment to the character creation rules regarding sensitive topics and how vague to be with said sensitive topic. Now says that you may talk on it for a few lines in your characters backstories, as long as it is not in disturbingly graphic detail and the history is properly trigger warning'ed at the beginning. This adjustment also included that you may discuss sensitive topics in roleplay posts as long as your posts are, again, properly TW'd and spoilered and your partner is comfortable discussing said topics. Again, this is for the greylisted topics, not blacklisted.

Adjustments to the application process and opening dates to match the new opening date of October 4th, and to mention the age range of characters allowed to be submitted (older kits to elders), as well as mentioning that pregnant characters are to be allowed to be submitted. Both kits and pregnant characters are mentioned to be wanting to limit said submissions as to not have an influx of them, so it is not entirely a guarantee a character will be accepted if it feels there have been plenty of them submitted already!

The ranks and hierarchy page has been updated to now have guards, prowlers, medics, and travelers listed as general ranks instead of weirdly placed in between high ranks and the rest of the general ranks and causing confusion, an issue that was present on mobile formatting!

Shoreshimmer's information has been updated to get rid of a few spelling errors, and added a tradition for cats who become elders later in life, as part of the celebration of the cycle of life that Shoreshimmer focuses on. The remaining aspects that need to be added are the rest of the rites, such as the leadership rite, discussing craftsmanship and diving within the Clan and their focus on forecaster roles as well, common physical traits found and stereotypes that other Clans will think of them as, relations to other Clans, territory+camp, and common threats and difficulties they may face.

And for what remains for the site,

The remaining four Clans need to have information filled in for just about everything, Torrentfall has a completed overview section and almost entire leadership section done. Thankfully this won't be too hard as it's mostly a matter of copy and paste and editing out spelling errors and ensuring sentences are structured correctly.

The History page needs to be updated to include the Clans foundings and the timeline of the Clans of Ever Rain.

An allegiances tab for each Clan, including adoptables that will be available for the opening.

Staff page will be updated by Tuesday to show new staff members, if everyone accepted responds within that time!! Yay!

So it will be a busy next few days, and the site will be continued to be updated with things that need to be cleared up due to confusion as well on top of it!

As a reminder, Staff Applications will close tonight in 6 Hours, if you are interested in applying for a staff position! Roughly 10 people will be chosen out of the applications, and so far we have reached 17 of those!

A high number of staff will be chosen because the project has become... rather large! I will admit I was not expecting as much attention as it's getting and I am very thankful for that! I want to ensure there is enough staff to take on things within the server without spreading everyone too thin, and if the amount of people that are going to be applying reaches a higher amount than anticipated it will be better to have the extra staff, than not and wishing we did! Better to have and not need than to need and not have, and all of that!

As well as... there was a lot of really, really good applications! It will be difficult for me to even limit it to around 10 new staff, as I was very impressed with everyone's submission!

So there will be another update at closing and another tomorrow for final decisions! Please do not feel discouraged if you were not accepted as staff, as like I said I was very impressed with everyone's applications! And this does not disallow you from applying for future staff Openings either, and in fact encourage you to if this is the case for you!

Possibly, that depends upon how well the mining operation attends to all details of its operation. Should anything be considered at this time regarding the human influence on the environment of the entire solar system? Absolutely.

The point is, nothing catastrophic on a cosmic calamity scale appears on the calender in the foreseeable times ahead. While the world engages in circumstances and situations that may appear to defy the nature of Pluto in Aquarius, there is no need to stress over any incoming solar system body of which there is current knowledge. But two interesting thoughts arise from such speculation. Is an ounce of prevention worth a pound of cure (or whatever weights and measure system fits the adage in your neck of the world)? Absolutely. Are efforts to see if we can successfully deflect an incoming asteroid useful? Yes, and like any prevention system, we apply our hope and faith in never needing that system? Larger and potentially more evolving, would nations and their leaders be more inclined to seek collaboration for saving our bacon as opposed to imposing tariffs on our bacon, and thus cause realization that all humans are equally subject to cosmic events?

And here, insert a wink from Pluto that is absolutely impossible to interpret.

Ascendant Studios just cut close to half of their staff within a month of release of their debut title Immortals of Aveum. You've shared before that devs will have down time between pre release to post release if new projects isn't in full production. Is this timeline normal or what else can you infer from the cuts?

Usually when a game launches, we know really quickly whether the actual sales are trending at, above, or below the expected numbers and roughly by how far off we are. After the first few days, we can extrapolate the estimated sales trajectory the game will have. If a game meets or goes above expectations, everything is great. If the game fails to hit expectations, the real question is "by how much?" - a small shortfall is surmountable, but a large shortfall basically spells doom for a lot of studios. The worse the numbers are, the faster the company moves to secure its survival - mass layoffs can come just days or weeks after the game's launch. When you've got hundreds of employees each costing thousands of dollars per month, you're looking at literal millions of dollars being spent on salaries per month alone. Even large famous publisher-owned studios are typically only 2-3 bad flops away from closure.

The unfortunate truth of the matter is that Immortals of Aveum didn't hit anywhere close to the sales numbers they needed/expected to hit with the game launch. The new sales forecast, given the initial numbers and expected falloff over time as we head into the holiday season, means that thoughts of a sequel and/or ongoing content updates no longer make financial sense. This, in turn, means that they cannot afford to keep paying all of the developers on the team and still keep the company afloat. Faced with the possibility of the entire studio closing down, they made the horrible choice to lay off half of the studio in hopes that the remaining staff will be able to get them to sustainability. The future plans for Aveum were scrapped and they're likely scrambling to figure out how to keep the lights on at Ascendant Studios altogether.
