Gear Station is not haunted. No, Gear Station is alive and well.
A bit of an explanation below the cut:
I had this idea at the end of September, and it has had me in a death grip ever since.
I've always had a fascination with stories about haunted houses, of which aren't haunted by ghosts or demons or monsters, but are instead deemed haunted because the House itself is Alive. The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson, Anatomy by KittyHorrorShow, House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski, just to name a few.
But after a while, it got me thinking; if a House could be Haunted, then what else could? What about other feats of architecture? How about ships or stations?
And if Houses learn to hate because they are abandoned by humanity, can other places learn to love because they are loved by humanity?
Anyways, this is a very VERY long-winded way to say that two of my special interests have combined into the idea of Gear Station itself being Alive and watching over the twins and its other inhabitants. Hopefully nothing bad happens after realizing an eldritch Being is possessing your workplace, and I hope nothing bad further happens after realizing it Knows you! 🫶 surely nothing can go wrong!

Note
In one of your last asks, you asked in the tags if it was hypocritical for you to point out how RBR are basically using VCARB as a rookie mill now that Daniel is not on the team, and just wanted to pop up to say you’re NOT hypocritical at all.
I really wish someone in f1 media would grow a backbone and bring Horner, Mekkies and Bayer’s OWN quotes to them from the start of the year. They all swore up and down that VCARB was no longer a junior team but a stand-alone, serious, sister-team. THAT was the justification and the utility of bringing Daniel into it. He was the experienced driver that was essentially leading the project.
And it shows that he was literally DOING the job they asked him to. VCARB went from dead last in the WCC to 6th in the standings. I’ll never get tired of saying it, but RBR could have played this all so differently by highlighting Daniel being in the team to help get them off the ground and lend some much needed developmental experience and consistency.
Instead, they let him be raked over the coals in the media while the car bounced back and forth so wildly in terms of their development. Both he and yuki’s performance was inconsistent because the car itself, along with the team’s identity and direction, was inconsistent. It’s not Daniel’s fault that half-way through the season, Marko went off his meds and decided to fuck the rebrand and go back to it being a junior team.
After that, what was the point in having Daniel there? We know there was no long-term plan to have him there (because really they wanted him to that RBR seat) but when Checo’s sponsors said “not so fast”, it was Daniel that was up a creek without a paddle and no where to go. So, you’re absolutely right in saying that RBR have a little rookie mill and taking up two seats to trial their juniors drivers - AND THEN not even promote them - is weird and warrants calling out.
People are so quick to bitch and cry about how, “we need more seats/teams on the grid” well get rid of Racing Bulls and let Andretti take their place then 🤷🏼‍♀️
🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️
Honestly, I don't think they had any super concrete plans, just a couple of glue sticks, an extra 30 million dollars, and a dream. Because of that they poorly messaged the entire operation from the get-go (paul and his pencil continue to get a 0/10 from me in the external communications department) and then they went and further mismanaged the situation because helmut and christian are too busy having the worlds longest slap fight to do anything constructive. Them not really having a plan or a cohesive message is also why it played into redbull's hand to let daniel constantly take the brunt of the media's pressure, so they let it happen. Originally it was daniel being there to be the experienced driver in this sister team project and then it quickly became daniel being there to prove himself to replace checo and everything kind of unraveled from there. They could've stepped in at any time but chose not to (christian contradicting helmut's rants two days later doesn't really count) and honestly, we should've known then that this was a disaster in the making.
Anyway, thanks for validating me but I am self aware enough to admit that it is a teeny tiny bit hypocritical to have been fine with the team when daniel was there and to now say I think their existence should be illegal lol. But to be clear, it is lame that they're allowed to have an extra team for helmut to play barbies with mostly because he's not even good at it.
Finally, you have unwittingly joined me in the sandcastles-in-my-mind that is the Andretti Global F1 team. I have dreams (they're delusional and never happening but oh do I have them).

The UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization coined CSA in 2009 to describe practices aimed at increasing farm resilience and reducing the carbon footprint of a global food system responsible for up to 37 percent of annual greenhouse gas emissions. Since then, however, observers say that CSA has been usurped by the Gates-led corporate alliance, with programs like Water Efficient Maize for Africa serving as green-painted Trojan horses for industry. “CSA is an agribusiness-led vision of surveillance [and] data-driven farmerless farming, [which explains why] its biggest promoters include Bayer, McDonnell, and Walmart,” said Mariam Mayet of the African Centre for Biodiversity. “From a climate perspective, it entrenches the global inequalities of a corporate food regime. There’s no system shift at all.” Octavaio Sánchez, the grizzled director of Honduras’s National Association for the Promotion of Organic Agriculture, contends that policies that promote true resilience must focus on regenerating soils through the use of organic fertilizers, crop rotation, and the preservation of native seeds able to adapt to changing conditions. These are the cornerstones of a global agro-ecology movement that has emerged from the seed and food sovereignty coalitions of the past three decades. The peasant-led agro-ecology movement—with La Via Campesina and AFSA in front—rejects the familiar refrain from agribusiness promoters that it is condemning farmers to permanent poverty and stagnation. The movement’s position is supported by both a growing literature of case studies and the development of scientific agro-ecological practices. When Gates Foundation officers were preparing to launch AGRA in 2006, researchers at the University of Essex published a study showing that agro-ecological practices increased yields by an average of nearly 80 percent across 12.6 million farms in 57 poor countries. The authors concluded that “all crops showed water use efficiency gains,” which led to “improvements in food productivity.” The UN’s High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition recommended in 2019 that governments support agro-ecological projects and redirect “subsidies and incentives that at present benefit unsustainable practices,” a judgment based on similar studies undertaken around the world.

In your opinion is this it? It’s definitely over? I want to be positive because the complete silence around Checo doesn’t sit right with me, but seeing Daniel like that reminds me a little bit of 2022, even if I think he knows what his future will look like. Now we have Ted and The Race “backing up” Danny and I don’t know if it’s a good or a bad sign. Red Bull literally fucked everything up
I don't think Ted/The Race backing Daniel up means anything, they would happily shit on his corpse again if it means more engagement I just think they were either 1) told or 2) realized that Daniel's stats aren't shit, in fact he's almost equal to Yuki in race results, and that pushing forward with an "out by COTA" narrative would look bad if Daniel isn't actually out by COTA. So if they start putting out softer statements like this they can say "oh well WE never believed the rumours!"
And honestly nonny, I can't begin to predict what RBR is doing so if they go insane and get rid of him by COTA nothing i say now would matter. BUT I do work in corporate law and (while i did have a mental breakdown over the rumours an hour ago) I don't personally think they can easily get rid of Daniel like that. Mainly because --
Idk if VISA is daniel's personal sponsor per se but they seem to have adopted him as a brand ambassador for the VCARB project. They probably would have clauses that require Daniel's presence at sponsor events and marketing. These are all guesses and idk if it's true for Daniel but usually the contracts I work with have these expectations. They would have PAID either VCARB or Daniel himself for his presence at these events. COTA would be one major event they definitely planned other sponsorship events for. Cash App would get a boost and they would need Daniel's face for it. It would incur them losses to have to sacrifice a name like Daniel Ricciardo for the rookie.
I know F1 contracts are apparently the flimsiest in the world, but Bayer did mention Daniel does not have any KPIs or performance clauses. It did backfire on him at Mclaren but I would expect his team to at least have some experience in avoiding this fate? But like, he isn't even racking up costs like Logan and in a dire skewed H2H. Like @danthropologie said, they have upgrades coming up that would need people who have used the previous upgrades and know how they work to properly utilise feedback in.
Also lol. Don't think even RBR itself would allow a midseason dump to Daniel at this stage. Prodigal sons would not be allowed to suffer such an indignity, especially if they want his goodwill back at some point? Yeah they definitely threw him to the wolves this weekend but...I personally don't think they would pull the rug on Daniel like that halfway through a season. They would at least let him tell people first so he/his team/RBR can capitalise.
He's a very good distraction from the Checo of it all right now. Daniel effectively removed the fact that RBR is failing, losing the constructors, Max is at risk of leaving from the news cycle. 2025 is another matter.
So yeah. Based on that, I personally don't think Daniel will get replaced. However I'm only a liddol person and I am biased so a lot of what I just said may be based on how I feel personally it should work out.
I'm worried for Daniel in 2025. But COTA? Not necessarily. Again I don't know shit. But I think a lot of thoughts.

Is there any company that you find sus? (One that isn't owned by Lex Luthor.)
Black Rock's potential for financial destruction is shocking, 9 trillion dollars of barely constrained capitalism. Whilst we're talking private equity, Apollo bought hospitals and nursing homes, rapidly decreased quality of care whilst secretly purchasing life insurance on the patients they were actively neglecting and killing.
Bayer is really living up to its origin as IG Farben. Monsato is one of their subsidiaries just to give you a nice taster on what they do. The apple barely rolled out of the tree.
Never use a Huawei phone. They sell the most phones of any company in the world and their cyber security is deliberately waffle shaped.
Swarovski Crystals started making rifle scopes for exactly who you think - willingly - and historians aren't allowed to release their findings. Love that. They're still making those gun parts by the way.
Kodak (who previously made key components for C4, triggers, fuses, detonators and hand grenades all through WWII using forced labor, selling to both sides through Switzerland) still have weapons grade uranium. For some reason. Don't ask. Nothing to do with their previous work on the Manhattan Project.
You probably know about Nestlé killing babies and targeting water ownership in drought-stricken regions of both the US and abroad. This didn't look so good, so they sold it to private equity firm... BlueTriton... formerly Nestlé.
I personally find it a bit suspicious that the Libyan-Chad war is also called the Toyota War. Seems like the anti-paramilitary regulations didn't really work, huh.
Purdue Pharma... the US Government... Sodexo... Exxon, Chiquita...
But for legal reasons, this is a joke :)

On October 31st 1903 Hampden Park stadium opened in Glasgow as the home of Queen’s Park Football Club.
Sources differ some say October 25th but SFA state 31st
Hampden was the biggest stadium in the world, it would hold this record until 1950 when The Maracanã Stadium in Rio, it held and incredible 199,854 for the final.
Back to Hampden, it opened for a league game on this day in 1903, three years late it held it’s first international when Scotland played England in front of a crowd of 102,741 people, which established Hampden as the primary home of the Scotland team.
Attendances continued to increase during the remainder of the 1900s, as 121,452 saw the 1908 Scotland v England match. A new world record of 127,307 were in attendance to see Scotland play England in 1912.
World record crowds attended Scotland matches against England in 1931 and 1933 and it was 33 that saw the first team from mainland Europe, Austria visit the stadium. Further ground improvements increased the official capacity of the ground to 183,388 in 1937, but the SFA were only allowed to issue 150,000 tickets for games. The 1937 Scotland v England match had an official attendance of 149,415, but at least 20,000 more people entered the ground without tickets.
During WW2 a government official presented an order demanding that both the Hampden and Lesser Hampden pitches be ploughed and used to plant vegetables, but the Queen’s Park committee chose to ignore the order and the government did not pursue it.
Hampden hosted the 1960 European Cup Final; Real Madrid defeated 7–3 Eintracht Frankfurt with 130,000 people in attendance. By the time the next European cup final was held in 1976 between Bayern Munich of West Germany and Saint-Étienne of France the attendance had fallen to 54,670. The French complained about the goalposts stating that two of their efforts which hit the square crossbar and rebounded into play would have resulted in goals if it had been round!
Hampden was aging and the capacity was cut 81,000, redevelopment started in October 1981 and completed in 1986, reduced the capacity to 74,370 and cost £3 million. After the cancellation of the annual Scotland v England fixture in 1989, questions were raised as to whether Scottish football required a separate national stadium, other venues were mooted but the SFA and the stadium committee rejected these and after securing a grant of £3.5 million in 1992, work to begin on a £12 million project to convert Hampden into an all-seater stadium, Hampden was re-opened for a friendly match between Scotland and Netherlands on 23 March. The final stage of the renovation began in November 1997, costing £59 million, inevitably the price soared but Hampden was re-opened for the 1999 Scottish Cup Final. The ground now has a capacity of 51,866.
The stadium was again fit to host the top matches and Real Madrid were again victorious when Hampden Park hosted the 2002 UEFA Champions League Final, defeating Bayer Leverkusen, with Zinedine Zidane scoring the winning goal with a left-foot volley.
In 2012, a Scotland women’s national football team game was played at Hampden for the first time, when it hosted the first leg of a European Championship qualifying playoff against Spain and Hampden was temporarily converted into an athletics stadium for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the European Championship in 2020 the National stadium has been chosen by Uefa as on of 13 venues for the competition and I am sure the people of Scotland will welcome whoever is chosen to play in Glasgow.
With the advent of big stadium concerts Hampden has been used to host a wealth of worldwide acts Genesis and Paul Young performed in the first concert at Hampden, in 1987. The Rolling Stones played there in 1990, during their Urban Jungle Tour. Since the redevelopment of Hampden was completed in 1999, many acts have performed there, including The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Bon Jovi, Eagles, U2,Oasis, George Michael, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Diamond, Take That, AC/DC, Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay, Pink, Paul McCartney, Rihanna, and Beyoncé.
The national stadium takes a lot of stick, but the cost of building a new one is way out of reach for the SFA, but if they somehow came up with funding I think it would be more suited to be somewhere around the Stirling area, I would also like to see a train station as near as damn it next to it, we can but dream though..........

Hiii, it is I again, thank you very much for replying previously.
Ohhh, yikes, "infestations". That is, not good. Very ominous, this is the stuff I love.
For my PLA plot twist thing, I based it off the idea that some Pokemon feed off of others in a more... mental way. Like how Drowzee/Hypno feed off of the dreams of others. Or more specifically, something like Nihilego ; a parasitic alien that induces a neurotoxin on those it latches onto. There aren't a lot of dex entries, but I imagine Nihilego makes its victims less than lucid and not completely aware, but also makes them erratic and violent.
This won't really work with your idea, but my idea was basically that the Station IS alive, in the sense that maybe some kind of UB or some eldritch being essentially physically took over the entire place, fusing/morphing into it. Afterall, what better place to take over where it is actively being maintained 24/7, for many MANY years, with a large amount of water and electricity running through it all the time.
And where a countless amount of humans pass through everyday, and where another small group stay for most of the day.
Basically, the Station is dependant on both the physical infrastructure to stay alive, but also on a more metaphysical aspect as well.
I don't quite know exactly what it feeds off of (human thoughts (like the electrical signals that happen when we think (but that would basically make the Station like a joltik lol)), emotions, heck maybe even souls), but basically it feeds off of the residual energy that a large crowd of humans leave; and in turn, it takes SO little from everyone that quite literally no one notices (like taking a single drop of water from a pool, the loss is SO minut it is basically irrelevant). It doesn't have to physically latch onto someone (unlike Nihilego), it *can*, but it can survive on just sapping very, VERY small amounts from the hundreds of humans that go through it every hour.
(And it did have some pests to feed off of before, that no one particularly misses. But that was a long time ago, and there's nothing to take anymore (It was satisfying, but it was a long time since they blew up one of its tunnels and then ran straight to it, but that's besides the point)).
But it gets greedy, it wants *more*. Sapping crowds isn't really fulfilling enough, physically latching onto someone with more passion would be much more fruitful.
And hey, those two twins that it's admittedly fond of would do the trick! They already give it their all to maintain the Station in tiptop shape with such infectious enthusiasm, and their hearts are *brimming* with passion and love. Love for each other, for their pokemon and friends, and for the place they work at. Which is the Station. (Not that they're aware it is alive. It knows they suspect it, but blissfully choose to ignore and write off all the oddities, which is convenient for it).
Besides, it's sure that they won't mind if it borrows one of them; they already devote so much to it, they're always eager to help anyone, they'll be helping it this way. And it'll be gentle, it won't take that much (that quickly), it's the least it could do after everything they did for the Station.
So it yoinks Ingo, when he goes into the tunnels alone.
Naturally, Ingo *does not like this*, so he gets locked in the matrix to keep him from panicking too much.
Basically Ingo gets locked into a constructed dream of sorts; his memory is temporarily wiped clean (or is it?), he's in a new place that has nothing he's particularly familiar with, with people he *swears* he's seen *somewhere* before, but he has no idea who they are. It's basically Hisui, but with the main difference being that there is no real conflict, and while it's no utopia, Ingo doesn't actively need to fight for survival.
In reality, the dream that the Station constructed is filled with regular commuters it bothered to remember the faces of, with (to its grief) no trains or modern technology, and with lore it had gleaned from a couple of History major students.
Cause if Ingo remembers too much, realizes the reality that is his constructed dream, then the illusion will shatter and he'll wake up and leave.
Meanwhile, Emmet is freaking out. Cause Ingo never returned from the maintenance inspection, and while Chandelure says he's alive and *in* the tunnels, both of them keep going in circles.
And the tunnels are... weird. It's like their shifting, but they *cant* move, it doesn't make sense.
And yet Emmet keeps going in circles. Tunnels he *knows* are supposed to be straight turn and shift to one direction. He keeps getting lost, despite the last time he got lost was 5 years ago. Any hardcopy paper maps of the tunnels are incorrect now.
And there's something new in the tunnels. Whereas before they were relatively normal, now he keeps getting the feeling he's being watched. There's an almost dangerous air in the tunnels as he keeps marching through them, and sometimes the dark tunnel before him almost... glistens, like an eye that catches light.
A week or something goes by, and Emmet decides "fuck it", and starts using Excadrill, the bane of any subways existence.
The Station is just about starting to get worried, and is *furious*.
I don't really know how this would end honestly. Like, Emmet starts digging his way to Ingo, and the Station is slowly panicking.
Meanwhile Ingo, I dunno, dies in the dream or something, but actually this fatal injury did not kill him, which is weird cause it most definetly should've, and slowly starts piecing things together.
I dunno, I guess the climax would be Emmet tossing a stick of dynamite into the Stations heart or something a la Monster House, picking up his brother (who did wake up, but at that point was too drained and tired to do anything), and then the Depot Agents get a cool shot of the bosses running out of a tunnel with an explosion behind them and Emmet materializes sunglasses on his face for added effects.
Ingo doesn't quite get out scot free. He's tired for a week straight, and his amnesia stuck. Luckily familiar stimuli snaps his memories back into place, but Emmet is still very sad about it, especially when he has to explain some basic things to Ingo. But they eventually get better.
Yeah that's honestly a basic summary of what I had in mind. It *definetly* needs some polishing but hey, this was fun.
