For anyone interested, btw, I've changed my sharpening technique. I still do a double smart sharpen, but my settings are:

500%, 0.4 px radius, 0% reduce noise, remove gaussian blur

500%, 0.3 px radius, 10% reduce noise, remove gaussian blur

Depending on the quality of the footage, I might also go into the blending options of the second smart sharpen and reduce the opacity. Better quality footage = less opacity, because it will look TOO sharp.

But generally with Nooj footage I just leave it as is, lol.

I mean, I am no expert, and this is a process that is different from one person to another. On my side I love to have a script in end to make sure I’m going on the direction I need to go to. See story telling is complex, but the advice I can give is. When you write a story, it helps to know the ending when you start. What’s in between can be prone to change, hell, even the ending if you feel it’s going in a complete different direction but-

It is important to know the direction you want to go. Paper Crane was rather experimental. I learned a lot from making it and it’s far from perfect.But I wouldn’t change anything. When you make a comic, be mindful of the pace you want it to go through, sometimes focusing on every little thing happening can hinder the pace. Pick a pose that resume the just of it and people will make the connection on their own. If the is one thing I regret about my comic. It’s the freaking format. I would make the pages much wider if I could as it limit my composition. In conclusion, plan things ahead, use the key component that you want to show, and don’t look behind unless it’s to see how far you have gone from when you’ve started. Learning how to comic is hard, but it is a fun experience non-the-less.

I’m sure you get this a lot, but how to you balance the colors so well? Mine are blended but it doesn’t work too well, and the only other option I know is harshly lined shadows. Also, keep up the amazing work!

Hi, thank you so much for the support. 💕💕 I actually must confess I don’t get a lot of color asks. I struggle a lot with coloring tbh. It’s not really my forte, so I recommend looking into color theory. There’s this really nice video that explains this in depth and I thought it was a really good tutorial. 😊

If watching the video is too much I can give you some tips that work for me but please be aware the guy in the video knows more than I do, and you’d benefit more by watching it.

This is gonna get a bit long...

It really helps me using complimentary colours and working with palettes. Also using colours next to each other in the colour wheel can create a very harmony filled look.

The author of the video called this using analogous colours. I didn’t know what that was called but I’ve been using that technique for a while haha. So I think it works for me.

I’m not sure what software you’re using, but seeing the colours of your piece together can really help you see if the art will have harmony when you color it. For me it’s still a bit of trial and error. But I try to limit my pictures to a few colours and if I use a lot of colours I try to make sure there’s not more than 2 dominants.

In the pic below I used a very saturated yellow for things I wanted to stand out like the blanket then that would guide the viewer to deceit, with a kind of desaturated red for Roman because in the first panel he is the secondary. The bg is very desaturated too so it doesn’t become too overwhelming.

In the second panel yellow is more dominant than red in amount, but also it’s more desaturated. Because in this one, Roman’s eyes are the main thing that will guide the viewer to the door. They are the most saturated and will draw more attention. Everything else is kinda pale.

Also to unify both characters, the shade of Dee’s hair is leaning more towards a red tone while Ro’s is leaning more towards orange/yellow. It’s just something that can make your characters feel more harmonic with each other... if you give them little details from the other characters without overwhelming their palette.

Purple is also complimentary to yellow but it is minimal comparing it to the amount of yellow and red. Green is complimentary to red but is almost non existent here as it is only used for the plush eye. If you want to use tons of colours just make sure you’re not using them in the same amount and saturation in your pic or things can get a bit too much.

I also try to practice the contrast and saturation on values by using a limited color palette. And this kind of helped to understand what parts of your drawing will draw the most attention by using the few colours you have.

When it comes to coloring shadows, I like to use browns, blues, purples, dark reds on a multiply layer set to 30% opacity. I almost never do harsh shadows, cuz I’m not confident enough yet tbh. But I also like the softer look that not overly harsh shadows give the pic. One thing I’m very sceptical with is the use of pure black tinted grays to color your shadows, if you’re not careful, pure grays can make your pic look dirty.

This is one of my first digital pieces. It has a lot of issues but we’re going to ignore everything that’s not color related for the time being. First of all what I can see here is that there’s too much clashing. Every single one is very saturated, even the background, to the point it’s just too overwhelming.

Some of the shadows in the face are gray and as you can see they end up looking like dirt. The shadows on the clothes and the skin of the arms are also not working.

Instead of using a darker shade of every color I had I should have chosen a single color set it to multiply in a low opacity and use that to color my shadows.

My shading technique is far from perfect. It’s a bit improvised... that’s something I’m still working on improving. But anyways, here I really quickly used different colours on low opacity on a multiply layer for the shadow. On the third one I also used the eraser tool on low opacity for get rid of the harsh edges on the shadow on the arm.

They’re not perfect but they already look a lot more like shadows and not dirt. So I’ll take that as an improvement. 👌

Anyways I’m so sorry this turned into a sort of never ending tutorial thing. I’m not an expert in coloring at all, and there are a lot of people both here on tumblr and other platforms that talk about this subject extensively and offer better tips and help. But I hope this helped in some way!

KNOW THIS POLICY BEFORE FILING YOUR BACK TAX RETURNS WITH THE IRS

Filing non-compliant taxpayers and their tax professionals commonly ask this question when filing back returns: how far back do I need to file?

If you are a taxpayer who is required to file a tax return but has not filed in a long time, you may want to stop and consider IRS Policy Statement 5-133.  IRS Policy Statements contain IRS internal standard operating procedures on how the IRS will work to administer the nation’s tax laws.

It is the taxpayer’s legal obligation to file an accurate tax return if they are required to do so.  Failing to file or filing an inaccurate return carries stiff penalties.  If it is intentional, the IRS can also pursue criminal penalties.  But when it comes to filing back returns, PS 5-133 may offer some relief to taxpayers.

If a taxpayer has not filed in many years, PS 5-133 may dictate that the taxpayer needs only to file the previous six years to be in IRS compliance.   Taxpayers who try to go back to earlier years may want to check with the IRS first before filing.  The IRS may not want the earlier returns to consider you in compliance.  How do you know?  You ask the IRS.

There is one word of warning here:   PS 5-133 has several exceptions:

Override by a manager: an IRS manager may override PS 5-133 and request more returns if there are extenuating factors such as a prior history of noncompliance, illegal income sources, higher income and collectibility of the tax, and future compliance.  The most common red flags are Forms 1099-MISC for business income, large amounts of investments sold, and little withholding and estimated tax payments.  How do you know if there is an override?  You ask the IRS.

Business taxpayers: the IRS does not like to give businesses a pass on nonfiling.  They believe that it gives the nonfiling taxpayer a competitive advantage over other businesses.  As such, they like all businesses to file all required returns.   The IRS frequently requests the taxpayer to file overdue payroll tax returns and partnership returns past the six-year requirement.

Local nonfiler enforcement by IRS collections: the most likely scenario when the IRS deviates from PS 5-133 is when nonfiling is investigated by a local IRS person- called a Revenue Officer.  Revenue officers are likely to be assigned the most egregious nonfilers and collection cases and often perform in-depth investigations and request more years to be filed.  IRS notices indicate if a Revenue Officer is investigating the nonfiler.   The “RO” can be quick to get their manager to approve a deviation from PS 5-133.

There is not an IRS document, like an IRS transcript, that you can request to see how far back that you are required to file.   To find out you must ask.   In most cases, an experienced tax pro who has access to a special IRS practitioner hotline can find out best.  They can also obtain your account information and old W-2s/1099s to help with back filing.

Keep in mind, the IRS will always accept any back return that you file.   If you want to potentially limit your liability, penalties, and a lot of work in filing past the six-year requirement, find out how PS 5-133 applies to your circumstances.

Some tips for nonfilers – and late filers too

The IRS knows of at least 7.5 million nonfilers each year when it tracks W-2s, 1099s, and other information statements back to taxpayers.   Potentially, there are millions more who don’t get information statements.

Nonfiling is a serious issue that often can work the IRS up into a frenzy.  If the IRS determines that the nonfiler was intentional, they can pursue criminal penalties.  Al Capone was not convicted of filing a fraudulent return – he was convicted on nonfiling of a return.   Taxpayers who have not filed a required return should do so immediately.   Here are 8 tips that will help you file your back returns successfully and minimize the damage:

Apply IRS Policy Statement 5-133: As a general rule, the IRS only requires that you file the past six years returns (exceptions apply). Confirm that the IRS is looking for only six years of returns. Contact the IRS directly to confirm the required unfiled years.

Beware, the IRS may have already filed a return for you. When you don’t file a return, the IRS sends a series of notices over a three-year stretch requesting that you file. If you do not file, the IRS can file for you. This return is called a substitute for return (SFR).   The return always ends in you owing the IRS taxes, penalties, and interest.  However, you can file an original return to “replace” the SFR.  This return will come under increased scrutiny by the IRS and go through a special filing process that can take up to six months to complete.

Late returns often require special processing at the IRS. Each November, the IRS starts requesting many nonfilers about the status of their return. If the IRS selects the taxpayer for a delinquent return investigation, the taxpayer will usually have to file directly with the investigating unit at the IRS.

Order your IRS transcripts to help with filing. It is extremely important to prepare an accurate return that matches the income that the IRS has in its records. You can trace your income history and request your wage and income (Forms W-2, 1099, etc.) transcripts from the IRS. When preparing your return, make sure all income items on the transcript are reported accurately. Without this match, the IRS can question the accuracy of your return or even audit the return. IRS account transcripts can also help you track down any estimated tax payments that you can credit to any tax balances you owe.

Nonfiling penalties apply if you owe. There can be hefty penalties for filing late. Years with tax balances due will have penalties, such as the failure to file and failure to pay penalties. These penalties combined can accumulate, over time, up to 47.5% of the tax bill. Interest will also accrue on both the taxes owed and the penalties assessed.

Consider asking for penalty relief. If you have a good reason why you are not able to file on time, you can ask the IRS not to charge you failure to file or pay penalties on balance-due returns. You can also ask for first-time abatement for the first year if you qualify.

If you owe and can’t pay, set up a payment agreement with the IRS. Taxpayers who cannot afford to pay the balance will have to make arrangements with the IRS. There are several types of agreements, depending on what you need. If you don’t establish some type of payment plan with the IRS, IRS collection problems will follow.

Old refunds prohibited: The IRS doesn’t pay old refunds. You can only claim refunds for returns filed within three years of the due date of the return. For example, if you file a 2014 return after 4/15/2018, your refund will be lost.

Your first step is to commit to filing all required back returns and get into an agreement with the IRS on the balanced owed.  The next step is to contact the IRS and get your information and see how many back returns are required.  You will use this information to file an accurate return at the right location at the IRS.  You may also have to file State returns.  Lastly, weigh your options on any balance owed, including requesting abatement of penalties, and get into an agreement with the IRS that leaves you in good standing and sleeping better at night.

Complete Guide to Property Insurance Claims - Process, Documents Required and Tips

If you have experienced damage or loss to your insured property, applying for a claim can be quite daunting but rest assured, it's quite an easy process if you have done your research and are cautious and vigilant throughout the whole claim process

Guidance on Property Claim Procedure in India

1. Report an FIR to the nearest local police station

The first step towards an insurance claim is reporting the insured disaster with the police. An FIR registered number would be required to validate your claim process.

Make sure you don't tamper with the evidence, unless it's an absolute emergency, refrain from touching anything in your property. Wait for the police and the insurance surveyor to inspect the situation.

2. Inform your property insurance provider

The second phone call you need to make is to your insurer, a helpline number would be mentioned on their website or on your property insurance policy document. Describe all the details to the executive and make a note of their identification details to maintain a record of your conversations with your insurer. 3. Have the insurance surveyor assess the situation of your property

A surveyor is an official assigned by the insurance company, to inspect the accident location or crime scene and assess the damage. Once the surveyor is done evaluating your property, a compiled report called the “schedule of works” is submitted to the insurer.

Be honest with the surveyor about all the events that took place during the accident/disaster. In settling property insurance claims, being honest is the only way to get you through. Don’t even hide any details that you think are relevant for the surveyor to know.

4. Fill the claim application form and gather your documents

Every property insurance provider has their own deadlines of applying for a claim, read your policy document to know what's your time limit and make sure you don't cross that.

5. Collect evidence

Insurance companies all over our country have become even more cautious about paying out claims and the only thing one can blame is, the prevailing practice of fake claim requests in India.

To avoid any such accusations, while you're at the crime scene, collect all sorts of evidence you can, take videos and pictures of the damage, collect contact details of witnesses, document the cause of the fire, etc.

Although, collecting evidence will also help you strengthen your case, which can avoid any further investigations and delays.

6. Collect all receipts of expenses you have paid for

If you need to arrange accommodation for yourself and your family because of the damage caused to your property, the expenses made for your stay, meals, and other daily essentials will be reimbursed by your insurer.

Just make sure you collect all the receipts you'd like to get compensated for.

Your insurer can pay you out by transferring money to your account or replacing the things you have lost during the disaster.

During the post office era, people use pen and papers to send their unspoken feelings to their desired recipient but do these recipients really receive those letters? Surprisingly, no --- not until 1847! Accordingly, receivers of the mails usually should pay postage on the letter received which resulted to people refusing so many letters just to escape these ghosting bills. Ghosting; things that come and go unexpectedly. Like her feelings for you. Today, as we are here in the middle of the pandemic, chilling in our seats typing on our keyboards or even tapping our phone screens, we are almost -- not almost but ALWAYS living virtually than living physically in this world. Especially that there’s nothing to look forward inside the house anymore. No barkada nights, no Soju drinks and no date with jowa. Communication nowadays is always in:  “S O C I A L   M E D I A” With these applications, we can easily access our friends and families who are away from our places. We can finally have a talk, laugh, share opinions about the government  oops. Why did I used the strikethrough pen again? Oh. It’s because, I might not be safe. Ha-ha.

4. You wanted an Iphone 11 pro max but realized it was too chaching because of the price and suddenly saw a post saying “Iph0ne 11 pr0 mex for 1,000 pesos only, RUSH!”  and because of your adrenaline panicking, you clicked “BUY” and send your one and only 1,000 pesos through a pera padala. After several days, weeks and months, nothing arrived, same as the mysterious disappearance of the seller’s account. So, anyare? You have been slained, SCAMMED.

Okay, enough of the nail-biting scenarios. Let’s proceed to: 

INTERNET SAFETY TIPS 101

1. DO NOT UPLOAD EVERY INCH OF YOUR INFORMATION.  - You are a mayor’s son? Okay. You own 5 bank accounts? Okay. You are Enrile’s descendant? Okay. You are in Mars for vacation? Okay. You live in the Malacanang Palace, room 23? Okay. You are José “Pepe” Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda? Lodi! Just, do not share these information to the public. Why? 

> Identity theft - hackers will steal your identity and pretend that they are you to have an access to any eye-catching things you have. Much more worse, they could have done punishable by law acts UNDER your name without you knowing and just chilling in Mars.

2. CREATE OUT OF WORLD PASSWORDS - Do not opt for your birthdays, anniversaries and even breakup dates. These are very obvious options in putting passwords to hack accounts as well as your very own name, family member names, pet names, crush names. However, I recommend not using it when playing online games such as Mobile Legends because this interrupt other players’ gameplay. Wag please.

4. ONLINE SHOP (?) - Bank accounts are usually link in shopping accounts for faster transactions. But, are we really aware of the risks waiting? Just as stated in number 1, do not share your private information in public meaning DO NOT provide your bank account just because it’s easy. I recommend to go for COD or Cash on Delivery to avoid problems especially being scammed.  5. ONLINE FRIENDS (?) - The idea of having online friends and meeting up with them is fun and exciting. However, what if those accounts of your online friends are just dummy accounts, as they use the faces of your oppa and acting as if they know how to speak korean to get your attention? Will fling and flirt and ask for meet up, and when that time comes, trouble enters too? Our mothers keep on saying “Do not talk to strangers” when we were young. Might as apply it on the internet even if you’re old enough. 6. THINK BEFORE YOU CLICK “SEND” - Only share contents that keep you away from threats. Do not send malicious pictures over the internet. As I said, the internet seems private but is actually very public. Chat boxes, group chats, group pages can be seen. Even if you’ll delete things over and over again, It won’t vanish, may forever sa internet. Protect yourself or else you wouldn’t know, that leaked picture of yours is viral on other restricted sites.  7. KEEP YOUR ANTI-VIRUS UP TO DATE - You can keep your relationship longer right? Do it also with your anti-virus. Always scan before and after you use your device. Check if there’s fishy between the files and double check that “exe.” folder. 8. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THINGS FROM THE INTERNET RECKLESSLY - Out of date OS? Game needs to be purchased from the playstore? Looking for an APK? Leave it to computer software experts. Do not do it on your own. These files from the internet might contain viruses that can harm your devices. Lastly, do not depend on your social virtual life. Painting your bathroom ceiling non-white is great way to make your private space feel personal and unique. The biggest expense here is the paint itself, though you’ll need a step-ladder too. Make sure to protect the floor with an old sheet. Use a brush to paint a covering first and make sure to cut in the edges, and finish with two coats with a roller.

If your bathroom has a wooden floor, painting it is a really creative way to make the space feel brand new. Your biggest expense will be time as you wait for coats to dry! 

Give your floorboards a quick sanding down and wash before you start painting.

You’ll need to get specific wood paint for this job – it’s more durable and less slippery – and you’ll need two or three coats of it. Dark colours will make the bathroom feel cosy whilst light will make it feel bigger. Don’t be afraid to use two tones across opposing boards either.

Pro tip: Sanding back the top coat will give your space a more rustic feel.

6. Focus on one wall

Replacing sealant is a small solution that’ll make your bathroom feel brand new. Plus, it’s cheap to do. All you’ll need is a cartridge gun with new sealant and a Stanley knife – all of which you can get for under £20. 

Use a Stanley knife to remove the old sealant, slicing through the top and bottom edges at one end before gently pulling it from the wall.

Fill your bath so that the gap between it and the tile are at their widest and use the cartridge gun in one consistent motion to reseal. Leave to dry overnight.

Pro tip: If you want to get really creative, try using a coloured silicone other than white or grey.

Managing the Business Risks of Animals

There are two Ps that can cause property damage: People and Pets. If you are a property manager, then you deal with both daily. Pets are animals but animals are not always pets. This is demonstrated when dealing with Assistance Animals (e.g., service/companion/emotional/therapy/etc.) These animals are not pets, but rather, serve as an assistive device to help an individual with a disability.

Pets are not a protected class. Housing providers and property managers are free to accept/decline as they see fit. The reality, though, is approximately 55 percent of applicants have a pet and the average is 1.3 pets per household. You can implement a no pet policy but, arguably, with such a high percentage of pet ownership, it can be a costly policy. That said, property managers should understand the risks when dealing with pets because, after all, if something happens it’s going to be considered on your watch.

There are three areas, known as the ABCs, to help significantly improve pet diligence: Affirmation, Behavioral, and Compatibility. Affirmation is getting the pet owner on the record about the general care of their pet such as having current vaccinations as well as going to a veterinarian on a regular basis. Behavioral is ensuring there is a stated history about a pet’s past and present behaviors such as knowing if Fluffy has ever bitten a person or another animal. Compatibility is having more details on a pet’s breed, weight, sex, pictures, vaccinations, and more. The ABCs can vary greatly for each pet. Pets are not equal, nor are the pets’ owners.

Under HUD and the Fair Housing Act, assistance animals are intended for individuals with a disability and disability-related need for housing. It’s inadvisable to request documentation specifically about the requester’s disability, share/provide access to requester’s medical records with others (HIPAA privacy laws), limit the documentation to medical doctors/physicians only (there is no exhaustive list), implement breed and size restrictions, and charge a fee of any kind. There are still subjective areas of interpretation such as telemedicine, formulaic online questionnaires, video counseling, and for-profit businesses exclusively focused on issuing recommendation letters for assistance animals. In summary, dealing with assistance animals is complex and stressful.

For clarity, you may charge fees for pets, but you cannot charge for assistance animals. There is a real opportunity for housing providers and property managers to generate new pet-related revenues assuming one has the insight into the ABCs of a specific pet. Variable pet deposits/pet fees/pet rents are rarely utilized but are very achievable when you have the right data at your fingertips.

Property managers are experts at managing rental assets such as single-family homes, multifamily communities, and vacation rentals. Pets and assistance animals are a necessity of the housing industry, but they add additional complexity and liability to your business. It is important to understand your rights as a property manager and realize that not everyone submitting an accommodation request is trying to game the system. Knowledge is power and, when used professionally and properly, it can minimize your firm’s exposure and team’s stress level. Woof!

48 Hours in Aspen: The Ultimate Travel Guide

The ultimate 48 hour travel guide to Aspen, Colorado. I’ll show you where to stay, what to eat and what to do!

Last month I crossed a new destination off my travel bucket list: Aspen! While I’ve been to Colorado many times over the years, I typically always head to Denver, Boulder or Vail.

Not only was this my first visit to Aspen, but this was my first time ever skiing in Colorado! I couldn’t wait to find out how it compared to skiing in Park City and Banff. (I already knew it wouldn’t compare to skiing in Michigan, that’s for sure.)

Of course, I quickly learned that there’s so much more to Aspen than skiing. In fact, I can easily see why so many people love visiting Aspen year round, both skiers and non skiers.

To kick off my 48 hour travel guide to Aspen, let’s start with where to stay! After having such an amazing experience at the Limelight Hotel in Sun Valley, Idaho, I couldn’t wait to experience their Aspen property.

Right away I felt cozy and at home in their spacious guest rooms, each equipped with a fireplace. Music to this gal’s ear since I always seem to run a little cold.

Similar to Sun Valley, you can start each morning at Limelight Aspen with a complimentary breakfast buffet. Offering both cold and hot items, I was very impressed with the healthy options including hearty oatmeal, hard boiled eggs and fresh fruit.

To start your first day in Aspen, head to Four Mountain Sports where they’ll hook you up with ski and snowboard rentals.

Aspen has four ski mountains to choose from: Snowmass, Buttermilk, Aspen Mountain and Aspen Highlands. In general, Buttermilk has the most beginner runs and is the most family friendly. Snowmass offers a good amount of everything and is large so you never get bored.

If you’re an expert skier, head to Aspen Mountain or Aspen Highlands. Since I only ski out west about two times a year, I stick with intermediate runs. As a result, I spent my first day at Snowmass and my second day on Buttermilk.

What I loved most about skiing in Aspen is that the runs are so much longer than anything I’ve ever experienced in the midwest or anywhere else really. Each run would take 20-30 minutes to complete. A far cry from Michigan where you reach the bottom of the hill in 3 minutes.

The other thing that makes skiing in Colorado so special? BLUE SKIES! Offering 300 days of sunshine, there is nothing more beautiful or breathtaking that skiing through packed powder with sun shining on your face.

Ready for a bite of lunch while on the slopes? I have two great recommendations for you starting with Venga Venga Cantina and Tequila Bar located on Snowmass Mountain. The food was authentic and flavorful and the presentation was gorgeous. You can explore the whole menu here.

If you’re spending the day at Buttermilk, be sure to stop in to Cliffhouse Restaurant located right on the mountain. I travel all over the world for a living but it’s rare that I experience such incredible views from a restaurant.

The make-your-own Mongolian BBQ menu is a lot of fun and a great way to refuel during a long day of skiing. I decided to warm up with a rich bowl of pho which was out of this world.

After a long day of skiing, you might be ready to warm up with a hot cup of coffee. Local, a coffee shop in Aspen, is located right downtown just a few minutes away from Limelight. It’s the perfect place to pop in before heading back to the hotel.

When you’re ready to unwind, head back to the Limelight lounge for après drinks and bites. Pro Tip: Order their artisan pizza – it won’t disappoint.

On day two, head to Ajax Tavern located inside The Little Nell hotel at the base of Aspen Mountain to try out their infamous truffle fries. Everyone told me to go here and they were right – they are next level delicious.

When you get back to the Limelight, be sure to check out Aspen’s favorite local bands every Thursday through Monday from 6:30–9:30pm in the lobby. Learn more about menu selections and specials.

Not skiing during your visit to Aspen? No problem. For lunch options downtown, I have two suggestions starting with Clark’s Aspen.

Open year round, Clark’s Aspen offers a wide variety of seafood (think: oysters, lobster rolls, whole roasted fish, etc.), sandwiches, soups and more. It was one of my favorite meals of the trip.

Another great option for lunch downtown is Pyramid Bistro. A nutritarian restaurant, each dish on the menu offers as much nutrients as possible per calorie. How incredible is that? I was blown away by the curry dishes and the fresh rolls.

If you’re looking for a sweet treat in Aspen, look no further than Paradise Bakery. They’ve been serving their famous cookies since 1976 and I’m here to tell you – they are soft, chewy and perfectly balanced with salt and sweet. I decided to buy a bag to bring home to my boys.

For dinner, I have a couple options depending on what you’re craving. If you’re a sushi and Asian food lover like I am, head to Kenichi. Pro Tip: Order the shishito peppers. You’ll be glad you did.

Offering a small plates menu of sushi, sashimi, salads, entrees and more, every dish was inventive and flavorful.

My second dinner recommendation in downtown Aspen is Meat and Cheese Restaurant. Located on Restaurant Row, this gem is a hybrid specialty food store and restaurant.

While the menu offers everything from salads to sandwiches to entrees and more, my favorite were the share boards. The menu changes seasonally but I am confident you won’t be disappointed with whatever you order.

After dinner, before hitting the town, I highly recommended getting your namaste on at Aspen Shakti. Lucky for me, I happened to be visiting on a day that coincided with their Thug Yoga classes. If you love hip hop as much as I do, this class is a blast. Bonus: they include a complimentary beer from Aspen Brewing Company.

Want to skip the yoga and head right to the beer? You can do that too. Aspen Brewing Company is located right down the street.

Craving craft cocktails instead? Head to Hooch craft and cocktail bar located right on Restaurant Row.

Another great option for craft cocktails is Bad Harriet located inside the lower level of Hotel Jerome.

Since I firmly believe you can’t go wrong with a good Bloody Mary, make time to swing into the St. Regis also located downtown. Insider tip: every St. Regis offers their very own signature Bloody Mary recipe. You can sample the Aspen version or try one from around the world.

Last but not least, if you’re ready to end your day with a bang, head to Escobar, Aspen’s premier dance club. Featuring a live DJ most nights of the week, this is the spot to go if you’re ready to get down with your friends.

While I didn’t spend much time shopping during my visit to Aspen, that’s always a great option if you’re not into skiing.

There are certainly no shortage of shops and the entire town is extremely walkable and pedestrian friendly. PS: Notice all that sunshine in my face? Gotta love Colorado!
