Thank you. I do have many recommendations.

Two of my favorite films are A Beautiful Mind (2001, dir. Ron Howard) and The Imitation Game (2014, dir. Morten Tyldum). Both films have a strong focus on the protagonist, but they still fit your criteria. Contact (1997, dir. Robert Zemeckis) is simply brilliant in its scientific accuracy. I also think Moon (2009, dir. Duncan Jones) is one of the best films ever made—it inspires me to this day. If you want to watch something more laid-back but not the absolute garbage that many self-proclaimed ‘space’ movies are, I can recommend Wall-E (2008, dir. Andrew Stanton).

I am not one to confuse the personal with the professional. His real self with his persona. I'm here to talk about what J-Hope the artist is about to invite us to see.

The photographer who took J-hope's concept photo's for Killin' it Girl is quite the boundary pusher. Cody Critcheloe, aka SSION, whose style is reminiscent of Dave Chappelle's work, so it's not like something we haven't seen before, but it is quite extreme for BTS's sake. It's over the top, hyper realistic and glossy, body positive and raunchy. I'm very curious to see IF Hoseok has also chosen him to direct the mv... and to push his creative boundaries. Ssion recently worked on Katseye's Gnarly, so.... the foundation has been laid.

I'm sure SSION's work exited J-hope, who is looking to turn a new page, to enter a more risqué era. The years of creative channeling into BTS, which is by nature of being a vehicle of youth and growth, a less explicit one, might have resulted in him finally breaking off the seal that kept his actual self hidden all this time. Pandora, who?

Note also the buckle. D2quared is an iconic and extremely edgy, queer brand, just putting that out there: queer as f*ck.

Some people are jokingly referring to Hope's three latest singles as his Hetero Trilogy, but in this house, we don't exclude bisexuals, ever. AND DURING FESTA NO LESS. To be honest, Hobi rolling out a hyper sexual mv, with what are bound to be sexy lyrics, makes me think it's unlikely were getting a lot of Ot7 right away.

I think it's more likely we'll get hints to the next BTS chapter, but that Hobi will be free to ride this mechinal bull, holding on to the pommel one handed as his abs glisten in the light, waving a hat around into the sunset, before his members join him on stage. But I stand corrected If they do.

XF rewatch with my husband

We finally made it through the end of the original series. I haven't seen most of these episodes in years–and Seasons 8 & 9 only once at their original airing–so I am surprised to find my opinions really haven't changed. Episodes I loved, I still love. The final three seasons don't do a lot for me, with rare exceptions.

I asked my husband for the episodes he liked best. He named checked the Flukeworm, Squeeze, Pusher, and everything by Darin Morgan. There's a reason we're married. He favors to the MOTW eps over the mytharc, which he never really warmed to. I defended it mutliple times because I still think the early mytharc is pretty fabulous. The Anasazi trilogy is amazing. Scully's abduction. The Samantha clones. Anytime the characters are having to make agonzing choices about their love for each other or the pursuit of the truth, it's story-telling gold.

As a GenXer, my husband likes "Sunshine Days," and I agree it's one of the better episodes from the post-Mulder days. One of the lessons of the XF is indeed about the importance of found family. But this is why it really didn't work very well without Mulder, whose quest for family really drove the series. I liked Doggett and Reyes, but they didn't have the same skin in the game that Mulder and Scully did. Fox kept GA around for Season Nine, but 1013 didn't seem to know what to do with her. The better MOTW eps from this season pretty much ignored her entirely. And I still can't believe they brought Mulder back for the finale only to have a boring two-hour recitation of the series. WTH???

My husband is a completionist, so we'll probably move onto the reunion episodes, most of which I have never seen. To me, though, the XF still ends at "Je Souhaite," with Mulder and Scully having a beer on the couch, the alien invasion still waiting in the wings, but for the moment, both of them fairly happy.

yes!! (I'm assuming you're rewatching, but if you're asking as someone who's never watched the x-files before, please let me know because that changes everything.)

every x-files episode is seasonally appropriate in my opinion, but some that really feel like fall and/or halloween to me are (in airing order): 

pilot, ice, beyond the sea, duane barry/ascension/one breath (if you want a trilogy), irresistible, colony/end game, humbug, grotesque, pusher, jose chung's from outer space, quagmire, home, post-modern prometheus, kill switch, bad blood, triangle (I'm assigning it halloween because it's like a costume party to me), roadrunners (hello roadrunners gang).

if a favorite isn't on here, it's because I assigned it a different season just now <3 it's about the vibes.

what's your favorite txf episode and why?

I love this question, but damn it’s a hard one to answer 🥲 I have so many favourites that I really struggle to pick JUST ONE, so I’m gonna bend the rules and give you my favs in each “category”, the categories being MOTW, Mytharc and comedy 🫡

My favourite MOTW, right now, is Pusher. I think Modell is one of the show’s best villains, the episode is really well written and performed, plus it’s a turning point in Mulder and Scully’s relationship. And that final scene! Chills every damn time. This may but the single episode I’ve watched the most.

In terms of the Mytharc eps, I’m gonna bend the rules even more and offer a 3-parter 🥲😅 the season 2 finale/season 3 opener trilogy of Anasazi/The Blessing Way/Paper Clip. This run of eps, for me, is one of the most exciting runs in the show’s history, and was the point during my first watch when I was all in on the mythology stuff. Obviously it falls apart in later seasons, but at this point it was just so damn exciting. These three eps back to back play like a movie and I love them - we get all the hits, Mulder getting his ass handed to him, CSM, Skinner getting involved, Scully being a badass, etc etc. Just so good!

And finally, my favourite comedic episode, and the episode I’ve shown to my non X-Phile friends to get them involved - Bad Blood. Not much to say, it’s just great, so funny, a great little insight into Mulder and Scully’s relationship and how they see each other, and you can tell David and Gillian were having a blast. Love it!

40. Pusher II A heartbreaking study of a fuck up of a man, a loser and a nobody, who it would be so easy, as it is for everyone else, to toss aside, and forget and hate. This man, who isn't a good man, is someone we come to realise is the most honest and pure out of all of those in his miserable world. This man is at his core, hidden behind everything, looking only for love and approval and acceptance and peace. The best of the trilogy.

x-files sequel to pusher/kitsunegari (that would make it a trilogy i guess? lol) where it turns out either pusher or linda bowman had a child and when they find out what happened to their parent they make it their mission in life to exact revenge on mulder and scully

i don't have any more specific ideas atm but i'm gonna keep this one in my back pocket bc i like it and it could apply to any number of ideas i might come up with in the future so thanks🫶🫶

hey this would actually be a great title for the star trek/txf crossover(s) i've been meaning to write (keep in mind it's late and i'm drunk so i copy and pasted these from my notes lmao)

Circa season 6 (or season 7 after she’s pregnant but before she finds out), Mulder and Scully go looking for a cave rumored to have mythical properties like immortality and healing and whatever (like the Timetrap cave) and while exploring it they pop out into the 24th century and run into Riker and Troi going camping/hiking on shore leave, they get taken to the office of displaced persons (or is it called the temporal displacement office) and Mulder convinces them to assign him and Scully to the enterprise as a doctor and a noncom, msr gets a tour of the enterprise and riker and troi explain to them what imzadi means, mulder starts calling her that in his head and he says it out loud by accident one day

X-Files/Star Trek crossover where Mulder and Scully visit their old office after being stranded in the 24th century to see what became of it, and the FBI building has probably been converted to either a Starfleet Intelligence building or a museum, but when they go down to the basement they find their office exactly the way they left it because everyone forgot it existed, and they just get a major nostalgia punch to the gut
