The Aurilian Organism is a unique species native to the planet 34 Cygnus c, informally known as Aurilia after Exocartographer Matthew Auril, who first charted the planet in 2112. 34 Cygnus c is an Earth-like exoplanet approximately 1.4 times the size of Earth orbiting a binary star system. Water oceans cover approximately 82% of the planet's surface, while its surface temperature averages upwards of 52 degrees Celcius at the equator. The combination of high surface temperature and large water area drives the formation of large scale hurricanes at all times of year. Though 34 Cygnus c's atmosphere, composed mainly of nitrogen and oxygen, is generally similar to Earth's, the presence of elevated methane levels necessitate the use of respiratory equipment on the planet's surface. This, combined with the planet's higher oxygen concentration, leads to frequent and abrupt firestorms that can scorch dozens of kilometers at a time. These generally hostile conditions have led the United Nations to declare the planet not suitable for human habitation, and surface access is currently restricted to scientific expeditions only. 34 Cygnus c has an active biosphere. Multicellular life emerged on the planet approximately 3 billion years ago, and most of the planet's land area is dominated by large rainforests populated by xenofungal flora. Most flora have adapted to the planet's frequent firestorms by developing a rapid growth cycle, and entire forests can regrow from seed in a matter of weeks. Planetary fauna is entirely invertebrate, resembling large, soft-shelled arthropods. The Aurilian Organism is the dominant species of 34 Cygnus c, and is believed to have first emerged in its current form approximately 720 million years ago. The Organism in its current form is a gestalt composed of two distinct species in an obligatorily symbiotic relationship: Mnemosynus pyriti, a xenofungus resembling certain terrestrial lichens, and Melpomenia similis, a highly eusocial arthopod-analogue (commonly referred to as Aurilians). Mnemosynus pyriti is able to mimic almost all of the pheromonal and electrochemical signals which Aurilians use to communicate. While this may have originally evolved as a defensive mechanism, both species have since evolved to be entirely co-dependent on one another. Aurilian hives work to promote the growth of Mnemosynus pyriti, which in turn provides shelter, nutrition, and a form of distributed eusocial intelligence (see below). Aurilian colonies possess a social structure superficially resembling those of terrestrial ants or bees, albeit with a greater degree of sophistication. A number of specialized castes exist, with a great degree of physical variation between individuals depending on their designated role. Castes also differ greatly between colonies, which suggests that colonies are able to alter the forms of their drones in response to environmental pressures. Regardless of their caste, all members of a colony are able to communicate with one another via a combination of electrical, pheromonal, and auditory cues. Together with the communicative properties of Mnemosynus pyriti, this creates a form of organic network connecting all drones to one another, with lower castes directed by specialized coordinator drones who, in turn, receive orders from each hive's Queen. Unlike terrestrial insects, Aurilian Queens are not only responsible for procreation, but also serve as a form of central intelligence for their colonies. Though the extent of this control is not yet known, the Skipper 14 Incident indicates that a colony's temperment is determined largely by its resident Queen. Individual colonies have demonstrated a capacity for memory and learning, and information is preserved between successive generations of Queens; while the mechanism behind this is not yet fully understood, evidence suggests that the memories and temperament of a Queen can be retained in a colony's mycelial network to be imprinted on any future Queens, as demonstrated by the Phoenix Valley colony.

....sits here as i suddenly realize Pyro was the true catalyst for Ouroboros Unbound

he had a Faurux too, named Pyriti. Omnius had Pyriti under his wing and was helping to train her as an assassin... to go after Rutaci himself.

It was also because of Pyro that there was a ‘family group chat’ of Fauruxes, and through this Rutaci found out about Omnius operating on Pyriti in the same way HE was operated, putting gold into the body and what not.

THAT is what made him have a melt down. Because Rutaci learned Omnius is back and still harassing him/his kids. THAT is what made him go to his hive to attempt to die, which was part of the major first arc of Ouroboros.

And not related to Ouroboros: Pyriti was Ptillo’s first quad, her first kismesis, and her treatment certainly did NOT help Ptillo in her hesitance for commitment. Plus, that was not just her partner but her apprentice. She was helping to train Pyriti-- not because of Omnius, because her and Omnius didn’t know each other at that time, but because Pyriti was a fledgling assassin and fucked up one of Ptillo’s targets and she basically went “okay thats pathetic im going to help you get better at this.”

Somewhat related to Ouroboros, Pyriti was Omnius’ first *adopted kid.* Why do you think he’d be willing to drop anything for Soliel’s safety and love? This wasn’t his first rodeo.

And now fully related to Ouroboros, Pyro is the direct reason why Rutaci’s mental health got better. Rutaci had moved in with his kismesis, bringing Nova with him, and that helped him so, so, sooo much in feeling better about himself and his life. He wasn’t homeless anymore! He had direct contact with someone who would support him and his kid! Pyro was a big reason why Rutaci was getting stronger, healthier, gaining weight, etc!

Pyro helped shape a lot of the narrative I have now... damn...

Regius - in limbo; he’s canonically part of Ullane’s backstory, but he’s also an NPC for Argose’s now and I need to reconcile that timeline somehow lmfao. Or just make an alt Paseri line troll for Argose with a diff name using his revamp concept I thought of. Might just do that. Doubt I’d ever bring him back properly, too much bitterness there.

Ionole - still around! I don’t use him much but I still like writing this dorky theater nerd.

Dionna - also still around, not too interested in playing her but she and Ionole are a good moirallegiance I’ll always keep for him.

Cennef - still a little fucker. Definitely want to throw her and Pyriti at each other at some point, definitely willing to play her otherwise if I see an opportunity.

Epsilo - bastard. Still used, especially given he’s one of RRAF’s in-character moderators and I love to make his life difficult.

PYRIT

Pyrit patrí medzi najbežnejšie sulfidické minerály s chemickým vzorcom FeS2 (disulfid železnatý). Je dôležité poznamenať, že každý chemický vzorec daného minerálu predstavuje jeho ideálne zloženie, ktoré však v skutočnosti neexistuje. Vo svete minerálov sú veľmi časté vakancie (keď chýba častica v kryštálovej štruktúre) a intersticiály (častice naviac v štruktúre, vstupujú najčastejšie do prázdnych dutín). Čiže keď sa urobí analýza tohto minerálu, okrem železa a síry tam zistíme aj prítomnosť iných prvkov. Pri pyrite sú to najčastejšie prvky kobalt a nikel.

Názov tohto minerálu pochádza z gréckeho slova pyr (πυρ) čo znamená oheň, pretože po údere z neho často odlietavajú iskry.

Základné informácie

Pyrit má kubickú, plošne centrovanú kryštálovú mriežku, čo znamená, že základnou bunkou je kocka, kde vo vrcholoch a v strede každej plochy sa nachádzajú uzly (uzol je miesto častice). Kryštálovú štruktúru pyritu tak vieme vysvetliť ako 2 prestupujúce kubické plošne centrované základné bunky, kde jedna je obsadená atómami železa a druhá molekulami disulfidového aniónu (v uzloch sa nenachádzajú atómy síry ale ťažisko molekúl S2). Štruktúra pyritu je podobná štruktúre chloridu sodného (NaCl).

Jeho kryštály môžu mať až 60 rôznych tvarov, najčastejšie však majú tvar kocky alebo pentagonálneho dodekaédra.

Pyrit svojím výzorom sa podobá zlatu, preto je označovaný ako mačacie zlato. Na rozdiel od ostatných sulfidov je pyrit pomerne tvrdý a termodynamicky stabilný až do 400 °C. Nad touto teplotou stráca stabilitu a vstupuje do reakcie so vzdušným kyslíkom za vzniku oxidu siričitého. Táto reakcia sa nazýva praženie pyritu (v minulosti táto reakcia sa využívala na prípravu kyseliny sírovej a pri výrobe železa).

Výskyt pyritu na Slovesnku

Pyrit bol opísaný na vyše 400 lokalitách na Slovensku, najvýznamnejšie je jeho výskyt v oblasti Slovenského rudohoria, kde je súčasťou hydrotermálnych rudných žíl (v celej oblasti je ich vyše 1000). Estetické veľké kryštály boli nájdené na nasledujúcich lokalitách:

Rožňava-Nadabula

žila Mária (hexaedrické kryštály s veľkosťou do 20 cm)

Drnava (veľkosť až 1,5 cm)

Dobšiná (Zemberg, do 3 cm)

Hnilčík (na lokalitách Roztoky do 1 cm)

Krasnohorské Podhradie (žila Štefan, do 3 cm)

Gočovo (skoro 2 cm).

V Slovinkách sa vyskytoval s obsahom kobaltu do 0,26 %, kým vo východných častiach Rudňanského ložiska s obsahom selénu do 23 g/t. Vo východnej časti Slovenského rudohoria je bežný v Zlatej Idke, Košickej Belej a aj v magnezitovom ložisku v Košiciach-Bankove. V západnej časti Slovenského rudohoria je viacero miest s kryštalickým pyritom. Napr. na lokalite Hnúšťa-Samo dosahovali veľkosť až 20 cm a mali hmotnosť do 15 kg s tvarom pentagonálneho dodekaédra. V Gočaltove dosahovali kryštály veľkosť do 1 cm, ktoré boli silne potlačené limonitom.

V oblasti Malých Karpát bol dôležitou zložkou ťažených rúd, zvlášť v zóne od Pezinka ku Perneku. Tieto pyrity obsahovali až 0,18 % zlata. V oblasti Nízkych Tatier sa nachádza na mnohých miestach, ale nikde netvorí pekné kryštalické agregáty. Pyrit je bežný aj na žilách Španej Doliny a v slovenských neovulkanitoch. Práve odtiaľ pochádzajú nádherné kryštalické drúzy pyritu v asociácii s inými minerálmi. V Kremnických vrchoch je jemnozrnný v asociácii so zlatom v Kremnici. Väčšie hniezda pyritu sa našli v šachte Leopold, ktoré obsahujú až 70g/t zlata. Hojným minerálom je aj v oblasti Slanských vrchov (lomy Vechec a Maglovec).

Odrodou pyritu so zvýšeným obsahom niklu je bravoit, ktorý iba zriedka vytvára makroskopické kryštály. Vyskytoval sa na žile Bernardi a Sadlovská v Rožňave, v Drnave a v Nižnej Slanej (Manó).
