9. favorite smell in the summer?
Just the general smell of the monsoon season out in the desert. I think it's different from petrichor, I just think of it as the smell of red mud.
11. what you have for breakfast on an average day?
recently either pbjs or cereal w/ fruit. to be controversial, breakfast eggs are evil. mostly for practicality reasons, but partially for taste.
18. ideal weather?
either the sun coming through extremely dramatically after a storm or the clouds feeling so close that I could climb up and walk around in them if I found a tall enough tree
21. obsession from childhood?
rookie magazine, which came from a mysterious subscription to teen vogue that neither I nor anyone else I knew was paying for. I discovered one of my favorite short stories in it: https://www.rookiemag.com/2013/04/the-year-i-learned-everything/
23. strange habits?
EDITING THIS ONE BC I FORGOT THE MOST OBVIOUS: I don’t know if I’ve always done this but when I’m focusing on a task I tend to move my lips around a lot. like picture fussing with a nose ring with just your lips but sometimes you miss the nose ring.
hoarding shiny bits of tape and shit to paste in my journal and then forgetting to do that. also most recently I keep daydreaming about being a cyborg bc I think that would be fun and sexy.
50. what made you laugh the hardest you ever have?
I was laughing out of fear in this case but I'm counting it anyway. my very dear friend @astro--nautilus screamed "BUG BUS" from behind me and I learned that when presented with immediate danger I will laugh so hard I can't breathe.

The eye, the lonely (you can't do me), and the vast
Already answered the eye and the vast!
The Lonely: Name a few of your friends and your favorite things about them. Oh man, this one is tough, as I am extremely lucky to have a number of lovely friends who have a number of amazing qualities (and yes this is a humble-brag. my friends are great!!!) Also, I am extremely tempted to do you since you specifically asked me not to, but I will resist the urge. I’m not gonna go with “favorite things” but “things I like about them,” as I am bad at picking favorites.
Short Emma: Made me appreciate Furbies and other toys/dolls that are written off as “creepy” by a lot of folks. Has extremely correct thoughts and opinions about Mario. Does very good drag.
Tall Emma: Creative and passionate and exactly the kind of person you want working with you on any project (which I have had the honor and privilege of doing a few times). Pays attention to small details that other people might miss. Also, has a stellar robot voice (and is just good at voice acting in general tbh)
EK: A wonderful little agent of chaos. Very fun to dance with. Good sense of fashion. Is actually fucking brilliant but it’s easy to forget that because they’re never arrogant about it. Also, very fluffy hair.
#i could've gotten more sappy BUT I DID NOT#at least one of these people goes by a different name online#but i figured it was ok since i'm not actually pointing to any online presence any of them have#also to my other friends please know that i care you very much#and i just picked 3 ppl bc i didnt want this post to be too long#also ''a few'' means ''three'' to me#and i purposefully didnt pick any graduating seniors bc then id just be rehashing stuff i just said#anyway#thanks for the ask!#Rook answers things#pythagoriantymek

Bird of paradise, honey perfume, wisteria, snowdrop, tea rose, lily
bird of paradise: okay i've sort of already answered this one but ?? going on a fourteen-mile hike on my own and going partway up a mountain and eating lunch while watching the view and then pausing to sketch the view and making my way back down and going a little offtrail to look at wildflowers? that was a good day honey perfume: for my absolute favorite i'd have to go with "secret of kells", though it's really a toss-up between that and wolfwalkers any studio ghibli movie
wisteria: if i'm being honest with this one, i admire basically all of my friends (if you're reading this, it's at you) who've taught me a lot about being kind in meaningful ways and staying connected and what it means to take care of each other, and also inspired me with their passion for all of their fantastic hobbies and academic pursuits and other skills. you are all the best and i've still got so much to learn from all of you.
snowdrop: waking up in a house full of friends. heading out to spend the day outdoors. coming back and cooking a ridiculously elaborate dinner for everyone. spending the evening together watching a good movie or just chattin' or playing games, and spending some time with just my SO at the end of the evening tea rose: somewhat serious answer -- i'd like to go on a solo backpacking trip sometime but it's an intimidating thought. also somewhat serious answer -- i never skipped a day of high school to, like, go to the beach with friends bc i was worried about Consequences, i really think it would've been worth it at least once lily: Hmmmmmmmmmmm well i'm reading a night vale / his dark materials crossover fic on ao3 and i think my high school self would have been mortified but it's ? really good comfort reading and im not afraid to admit it

The Glittering Reef: If you can find a ferryman to take you when the tides are low, you can traverse the caves by the seaside and find the cavern holding this half-submerged city. Some say the that the oldest buildings were built out of the bones of ancient leviathans, beasts that humanity hasn’t seen in decades. The city hall and oldest temples are scrimshaw-pale, yes, but most citizens say it is simply the work of centuries of sea salt wearing away at what used to be a dull grey stone. The narrow canals of this city are lined with buildings, balconies rising stories above, with lanterns shimmering at every level. Without natural light, much of the city is reliant on the work of the Sol Aria, a group that keeps meticulous track of when the sun rises and sets on the surface, and sends singers in gondolas through the canals at dawn and dusk to signal the start and end of the day.
Somewhere, on the outskirts of town, where the water is vast and cold, a child dives for treasure. It is not from civilizations past, but simply what has been forgotten by the present.
(Send me an emoji and I’ll share an imaginary city!)

Maple, cider, maize
maple - is there a hobby / skill that you’ve always wanted to try but never did? I always wanted to get into knitting! Really any fabric work at all, but especially knitting. It just seems like a lot of fun, but I never got around to it. cider - a food that you disliked as a child but now enjoy? I really didn’t like pie when I was younger, which is almost funny in retrospect considering how much I like to bake them now. I just didn’t think the crust was any good! And the fruit filling was often canned, which was a bit too gloopy and sugary for my tastes. Now I adore pie! I’ve also very, *very* recently started maybe liking peanuts? At least inside of other things, like cookies and candy bars, which is super exciting! Now, if only I could trick myself into liking berries... maize - share the weirdest encounter you’ve had with a stranger on the street. Oof ok so this wasn’t quite “on the street,” but I was in the Parisian metro system once, alone, after sunset, and this guy came up to me and was talking to me and was like trying to “help me figure out where I was going” and like leading me around by the arm and kept telling me I was pretty. I was super uncomfortable, but he was also being kind of genuinely helpful? Like he helped me find the right train and stuff and was trying to help me figure out how to get past the turnstiles (which we never figured out, so he kind of just dragged me over one without paying, despite me not wanting to do that). He also followed me up onto the street when I got where I was going and asked me if I had a Facebook, but when I told him no (while kind of clearly using Messenger on my phone) he just said ok and then left, which was a huge relief. I don’t think I was ever in danger or anything, but I think that was the only time I have ever felt comfortable standing next to heavily armed police officers (to the point where I purposely stood next to them on the metro). Paris was also where some people walking around collecting money/signatures for “charity” absolutely just yanked a significant amount of money directly out of my hands so that was a fun trip all around. Thank you for the ask, dear!

Wordgirl: If you could choose any superpower what would it be? | Becky Botsford: What makes you laugh no matter what? | Lady redundant woman: what's 3 things you couldn't live without? | Professor Boxleitner: Name 3 things you love most about yourself
Wordgirl Character Asks!
@pythagoriantymek
Wordgirl: If you could choose any superpower what would it be?
it would be awesome to be able to fly! flying effortlessly would be the best ofc. I realize in reality this might not be the best power for sb who is bad with heights, but I feel like i’d be able to handle it :’) it would just be so neat to float around??also shapeshifting maybe??
Becky Botsford: What makes you laugh no matter what?
bad puns & jokes are usually pretty good at making me laugh!! maybe not some that I’ve heard a lot, but I think i’m more fond of puns than some people. also maybe. certain ppl doing certain voices, or eating things that are just barely edible, like, paper, and,, chalk, ,, djkhgdf
Lady redundant woman: what’s 3 things you couldn’t live without?
1. top one is like always my sister!!! she’s the best sister ever!2. this is hard bc now if I say actual things i’ll be comparing them to my sis, hm,,maybe like nice weather?? it’s starting to get warm here and it’s making me realize just like. how much nicer things are when the weather’s good dskfjh3. music. I can barely walk down the school’s hill without putting on some music– I basically have it on whenever I can, and I think it would be horrible to not be able to hear it anymore,, which is unfortunate bc my hearing has been getting worse lmaoo
Professor Boxleitner: Name 3 things you love most about yourself
this is a rlly sad one for Boxleitner?? valid though T_T1. fhdjhkghdj I like my sense of humor. I think i’m hilarious :”D2. I feel like i’m pretty smart & reasonable! I DEFINITELY don’t always show it, in part bc it‘s like, easier to seem a little air-headed (or at least it was in my last school, which was very competitive in a very bad way). also bc i’m kind of a silly person, it’s a little easier sometimes to lean into that?? but I think i’m /mostly/ level-headed which I think is good3. idk if it’s love so much as pride but? i’m proud of myself for working on aspects of myself that I want to change! I’ve been doing a lot of that this semester, and even though it’s slow going, I like that i’m putting in the effort

I just found your blog and it is amazing! I'm Polish born but raised in America, and I'm really interested in slavic paganism, but really hesitant because of white supremecists and conservatives in general. It's really good to see a community where that isn't tolerated. I've read your introductary posts, but I would really appreciate any suggestions you have for learning more, especially about Svarog. Thank-you again!
oh, haven’t we all here been through the same exact thing? the call to the Old Path, to our brothers and sisters and siblings, the ancient voices, the burning fires and coiling flower wreaths, the whispers in the night… and then boom, the assholes happen, the white pride scum, the nazis and all that garbage.
but there’s’ more and more of us, unyielding and stubborn enough to counter their bullshit every step we make. I am happy to welcome you among us, then!
and thank you for your kind words, I am so so happy you have enjoyed this little mess of a blog - and I do think we have met on our Discord chatroom, have we not?
as to learning more, I am still making a list of sources in English - as I assume you speak and read in this language the most - so for now there is not much I can tell you. other than staying AWAY from Wikipedia, as it has been affected by some terrible French Academic Plague.
post about Svarog in my /gods guide/ coming soon! I’m happy to hear you share my curiosity about him.

3:A song that reminds you of summertime
Loreena McKennitt’s version of The Highwayman, because I fell asleep listening to it almost every night on the boat last time I went home for the summer.
5:A song that needs to be played LOUD
The Cat and the Moon, from the LOTR musical. Get up and dance, dammit!
9:A song that makes you happy
Om Du Möter Varg. Instant day-betterer.
16:One of your favorite classical songs
I have a great fondness for Flight of the Bumblebee.
19:A song that makes you think about life
One Particular Harbor. Jimmy Buffet’s maybe not the first person one things of for meaningful songs, but for this one there’s a nostalgic component to it, a familial one, a personal one, and I’ve grown to see it as a metaphor for both coming home and death. Go figure.
23:A song that you think everybody should listen to
That one time an orchestra switched instruments and played Also Sprach Zarathustra. It is also a day-betterer.
28:A song by an artist with a voice that you love
He didn’t write the song, but Anthony Warlow’s version of Confrontation from Jekyll & Hyde.
30:A song that reminds you of yourself
Immediate Music’s King for a Day. It’s frenetic and slightly dorky and vaguely ominous all at once. Seems to fit.

5.) Post your favorite selfie
I'll post another one that I like bc this makeup was fun

27.) Did you do something that scared you? What was it?
Yes! Some of them are things I can't really talk about, but one thing I can talk about was that I got trained as an EMT! I was nervous to start, but I found I really enjoy what I learned and I'm working on using that knowledge for community care purposes. Gonna add another harm reductionist EMT to the mix!
37.) If you could have a do-over on something, would you take it?
Yes, for one thing. I did something that made a good friend feel invalidated, and given the chance I would make sure I didn't make them feel that way. The best I can do now is learn from my mistake and make sure I don't do it again.
Thank you for the ask! I hope you're doing well and experiencing some peace. 🧡

10. characters that deserved worse? >:] already answered this! I was gonna come up with another, but I genuinely can’t think of any? I’m sure there are some, but nothing is coming to mind
18. characters you want to wrap in a blanket and tell them they’re going to be okay? Most of the main cast of tma, honestly (s1 archives crew + melanie and georgie at least). I mean, they’re not going to be okay (mostly), but I’d still wanna comfort them.
19. if you could be a part of any story, which story would you want to tag along in? Infinity Train, maybe? Not any particular season, but to just be on the train, which I guess is technically less “tagging along in a story” and more “having my own story in a fictional world” but w/e. I could die but also it’s cheaper than therapy so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

for Golikana You’d be forgiven for thinking that the person you’d asked for directions out by the last oasis was putting one over you. After all, on the surface, Golikana doesn’t look like anything much -- just another unremarkable stretch of dry wasteland, studded with the occasional boulder or cactus, on to where the angry red earth meets the edge of the blue sky. And make no mistake, you’re not going to fare well if there is no city here. Another unremarkable stretch of dry wasteland, except that the shattering of the dry earth turns into chasms here. And you start to notice that here and there, at the brinks of the narrow chasms, there’s pegs with ropes attached. You’d be forgiven for that the map was wrong, because the city of Golikana lies beneath your feet, a carved network of tunnels and rooms, with the chasms serving as roadways and doors to the surface world. There are no doors and no locks in Golikana, and the air is always cool and humid with moisture from the reservoir that lies at its very depths; in some rooms there are stairs that wind all the way down to the water, and you can go swimming there, under vaulted arches of red stone. The interior of Golikana is lit by mushrooms that grow on every available surface, except for the chasms which receive an hour or two of sunlight every day when it hits just right. In the reservoir there are blind fish, and several types of algae, and these people gather for food. Occasionally, Golikana’s denizens will venture aboveground to collect cactusfruits or enjoy the moonlight -- it is far too bright and hot during the day. No one knows how deep or how far the reservoir, Golikana’s lifeblood, goes. Some stories speak of a dim, deep glow occasionally seen by fishermen out on the reservoir’s distant reaches, glimmering from below, and some swear that there’s another city deep beneath that city, that the reservoir is there as a refuge from a time when the whole desert still lay beneath the sea. No one is quite sure, but on the shores of the reservoir, people sometimes find pieces of jewelry carved in an iridescent material unlike anything else, and these pieces fetch a high price on the market.
