i got so hyped for the reading of the millennium break manifesto only for austin and jack to immediately up the ante by mutually deciding to narrate their characters - no dice rolls necessary - knife fighting in a lightning storm on top of their mobile fortress and ultimately plummeting to their... deaths...?

After the emotions died down after yesterday's finale, I realized I feel more bitter than happy about this season. I'm obviously sad about the retirements (Kraftböck was my first ship ever, even if I didn’t know it back then!), and I hate the drama with cheating, but I think I'm mostly disappointed with my team, Poland. Being disapponted in PZN (our ski association) is nothing new, I always knew they weren’t the best and since Małysz joined them, my opinions about them are even worse. But right now, I feel deeply disappointed in our jumpers and that’s really sad and painful. I don’t like how they handled the situation with Thomas Thurnbichler. Obviously, I don’t have all the facts and insight into the team, but I feel like they weren’t fair in their cooperation. I think some of them acted like spoiled children who didn’t want to accept new methods and were convinced that they knew better. I think Thomas is a great coach, with great, innovative ideas. He loves Poland, he has a family in Kraków and he said his life is here. But I kinda wish he had never accepted the coach position, because I'm afraid that it set him back in his way to become better and it might make it harder for him to gain more respect of other coaches.

He behaved like a gentelman at the end, showing a class that some of our jumpers lack and I wish him all the best. I'm sad and ashamed that his journey in Poland ended like this. I hope other nations will notice and appreciate his potential, and that he will be happy again with his life.

it's so real and important to me that palisade gets everyone balence posting like we talk about it a lot but valence is truuuuly haunting this narrative and haunting brnine's personal narrative specifically goddamn. they're so important their name doesn't even need to be spoken and brnine has a situationship pokedex which is compelling and fun and great in its own right and valence is still there in the background of all of it

one of my personal favorite themes of palisade, one that was apparent to me was going to be present before the season even started, is people struggling with their identity- who they are vs. who they’ve been in the past. see figure and partial, two undead people with hazy memories of their history struggling with who they are now and why they’re in that position. but brnine’s interview in this episode centralized the most interesting part of that theme for me, which is that this season is also dealing with characters struggling with how others perceive them- on a massive, galaxy wide scale. the finale of partizan was literally about if millennium break was going to be perceived as villains or a new political party and those complications have extended to the characters themselves. we know from her appearance in road to palisade that there are documentaries about house garantine and gucci’s actions. thisbe literally had to be moved around in hiding during the timeskip because she’s so iconic. but it’s obviously most extreme and horrifying with gur, who literally has been separated from his body and was helpless when said body was made into a new person with the opposite beliefs who is now far more famous and recognizable than they ever were. and now there’s brnine, having tried to change their identity, forced into the public eye in miserable circumstances and shown to have countless narratives surrounding them- none of which are the complete truth and none of which they can avoid any longer. and yet their notoriety is such that merely being put in jail is too small for them. frankly i think the pact would love to make brnine their gur sevraq.

none of them can run from who they are, and not just on some complicated psychological level. the empire will not allow it! public memory will not allow it! and i think a lot about what peace would look like for characters like gur or brnine, who seemingly have nowhere to hide.

tbh, I knew it right from the very start that this was not gonna end how Mr. Thurnbichler expected it to. He should have stayed with the ÖSV, gain some experience there and,voilá, might have been the headcoach there some day.
