In the link above is several series and individual photos that showcase dancers in their homes. I really wanted to capture something that was a bit more intimate than my usual work that is typically in a photo studio, so I asked many of my friends and longtime clients to visit their apartments and capture them in their element in their home. I chose to edit all the photos in black and white so I didn't have to stress about the colors and tones in the photos, and could focus on the shadows, highlights and contrast with the subject. I really enjoyed working and capturing in this way as it took off some of the pressure I normally feel while trying to capture technically correct images. I was going more for the feeling and less about capturing something that is perfect. I experimented with some of the initial images with adding some heavy grain to stylize them and make them feel like they were taken with a film camera, but also have images towards the end that are crisp and clear. In the final week of working on this project, I added captions to each photo that has the subject's name and location in New York to give it an elevated and personal feel. 

I took all the photos on my Canon r6ii and either my 15-35mm, 50mm or 85mm lens and edited all the photos in lightroom. With more time, I would have liked to experiment with keeping the images in color, but this would have taken more time in the initial taking of the photos because there are a lot more elements that go into composing a photo that will be kept in color, but I think the black and white editing is still of value considering the concept behind my images.
