Here’s my note before I’ll get started….
(NO COPYING OR PLAGIARIZING FROM ME AND ONE OF MY CLOSEST FRIEND’S WORK! THAT INCLUDES OUR CHARACTERS, DESIGNS, STUFF, ETC. IMPOSTERS AND SEXBOTS ARE NOT WELCOME TO FOLLOW MY BLOG WHATSOEVER! 😡 That will be all….I mean it.)
“Day 23: Smile 🐰👩‍🍳😈”
Saving the final family member (which won’t be canon for May’s story if she weren’t in hypnotic stat alongside her husband) to take on her own Inktober spotlight.
However, cue Chef Saltbaker’s boss theme for this devilish chef mother. Looks like for this year she’s gone on beast mode when preparing a dish worth dying for. Got this idea from acknowledgment of the Chef Saltbaker character; especially we’re had share a video from last year. So hard to get through the final boss fight back then; especially did on those innocent ingredients so cruelly. 😔 Link Here

Hi Raven! Hope your surgery recovery is going smoothly! I’ve had a procedure done on me too so I get how sore and tired you must be, so feel better soon & get lots of rest. I had Lilia make you soup!🥫
Sooooo this has been a thing on my mind for a while now, but including the new chats (i’ve only seen screenshots of them, so idk much about them), I believe there’s one where Riddle and Sebek are saying how Silver nearly got got hurt in during a club meeting because he fell asleep, and that reminds me how dangerous Silver’s sleep spells are to him. I think his Master Chef vignette points out how he has the risk of falling asleep while dealing with fire.
But the big issue I have with it is when he graduates and fully joins to royal guard. There’s a very low chance of us seeing the boys’ lives post grad and any super serious conflict happening during the rest of their lives, but if they don’t find a cure for him during the story/their time at NRC (i wanna say we probably will), and if Silver ever has to fight FOR REAL for real, then if he ends up falling asleep mid battle, he’ll be at his most vulnerable and completely exposed.
I have hope that he could push through since he’s said as long as his body is moving he can stay awake, but I still have doubts for that because he fell asleep mid race during Deuce’s hometown event.
I’m just overthinking but yeah, it’s actually genuinely worrying 😭
Also may I be 🎠 anon please? thank you!
[Referencing health update in this post!]
Tumblr media
Hihi! I think things are going smoothly nowC thank you for the well wishes. Getting lots of sleep and such, eating healthily, etc. Wishing you, 🎠 Anon, well on your own recovery too~ Th-Thank you for the soup, Lilia... I'm sure it is highly... nutritious...
That's correct; in one of Sebek's new chats, he and Riddle discuss a situation in which Silver fell asleep on some hay bales. If Sebek had not woken him up, Riddle worries that Silver would have been trampled by the horses. Riddle also mentions being concerned that Silver falling asleep while cooking could be a safety hazard. Silver reassures him that, in Briar Valley, most cooking is done with magic. If a mage were to fall asleep while using fire magic, the fire instantly goes out (since magic generally tends to require consciousness to maintain). However, Riddle’s concern is very real in Master Chef/Culinary Crucibles, as the course explicitly bans the use of magic in the kitchen--so Silver is cooking with REAL fire in the class, not with magic.
There's many other circumstances in which Silver's condition could be a hinderance to his performance (as is the case with the Rabbit Run in White Rabbit Fest), or outright put his safety and wellbeing at risk (in the case of an actual fight). I don't doubt that Silver is a capable person, but that narcolepsy could honestly be a huge setback depending on what he's expected or ordered to do. I wonder if Twst will seriously consider addressing these though...? Silver's sleepiness is not treated consistently in the narrative. It's considered a "moe" trait half of the time + marketed as part of his appeal, and the other half of the time it's treated like a daily nuisance that Silver feels he has to constantly apologize for. The two depictions are always at odds with each other. Will they keep him with the condition for the sake of fanservice, or will they commit to dispelling the narcolepsy/his curse with the power of love? I had someone pointing out a while ago that Silver's condition is akin to a disability, so if you read him in this way then there's additional implications to consider.
I at least hope that Silver can find workarounds for his narcolepsy. I don't want him to put himself in danger, but I also don't want him to be kept from doing the things he wants to do.

Chef's Recipe Mix: THE RETURN OF THE PUMPKIN RABBIT!
Tumblr media
Chef's Recipe Mix 'THE RETURN OF THE PUMPKIN RABBIT!' First I wanted to show off Rachel Waterman. Y'know, the Witch Sheep. In CRM, she's the type of person to dress up as a Christmas character for Halloween. So, Scrooge was the answer to that. She's fairly eccentric without the killing. She refers to herself as 'Old Lady' for sympathy points and/or manipulation to victims. She's at most, like, late 20s or early 30s. She is also pretty talkative, and an over-sharer. For example, when Dino tries to snatch her photo album she notices. However, she actually goes through the album with the kid to show him all the pictures while talking about each person in them. She also isn't afraid of getting her hands dirty in the killing either. Like, normal Pumpkin Rabbit is usually the one with the most kills, but in CRM her and Lorenzo are pretty equal in that department.
Tumblr media
Instead of Lorenzo Waterman being a Pumpkin Rabbit, he's The Plumber Racoon. Kinda based off of the Old Super Mario Brothers Super Show, this guy is still married to Rachel. But the ways he catches his victims is different. Specifically, Rachel acts like she lives alone, maybe saying she's a widow or something. In 'THE MYSTERIOUS HOUSE' she says she has friends over when referring to Billy and RV8 (Or whatever his name is) and just saying she's getting her plumbing fixed when the kids ask who the Plumber Racoon is. He then catches them off-guard at like midnight, yadda yadda yadda. He's far less of a, how you say, enthusiastic killer than normal Lorenzo? He doesn't use his bare hands, he uses tools to get the job done, and he doesn't try to prolong much of the hunt. He just gets to the victim, kills them as quickly as possible, then celebrates.
Tumblr media
Extra details are things like the Pumpkin Patch scene with Ralph. Lorenzo doesn't even notice Ralph at first, he's working on his back porch. But he turns around to get a tool and sees the kid staring at him in the Pumpkins. So he looks around real quick to see if anyone else is there, grabs the ball, and tries to get Ralph to come get it. This doesn't work, much like the normal one, and he just chases the kid down and smashes his head in with a hammer. It, uh, didn't look very good. Speaking of kids, here's their designs.
Tumblr media
Jay has a Jigsaw costume, Paco's dressed as exorcist, Ralph as Elvis Presley, and Dino as some kind of Penguin with overalls. Some extra details, uh, not much story-wise changes. The House is still there, Ralph still stays outside, ETC. Some minor details include (SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE THING YET) Jay and Dino run into the Attic instead of basement. Lorenzo doesn't try to lure Jay out of the cabinets with a Ralph impression. He was dragging the body inside after she knocked over the bowl, and as he lays him on the counter, Rachel tells him from the Living room that someone is in the Cabinet. In the Book-Burning scene where the Mannequins kill the Watermans, Lorenzo and Rachel actually start going ham on them considering they have weaponry. Rachel's spooked, though Lorenzo is more annoyed at it than anything. Jay just tosses the flaming book at them to distract them long enough to be taken out of commision.
Tumblr media
Oh, also Paco is trapped in the Attic before this all goes down and gets taken out by Rachel.

i treat my art like a science. in my research, i find you can classify rubberhose rather simply. unlike puppets, which have their own six-tiered classification system, you can generally classify rubberhose in three categories: colorscale, type, and studio.
Tumblr media
colorscale: the overall presentation of the toon. they generally are either monoscale (often black-and-white) or technicolor, though some are considered to be "repainted" cartoons, meaning they gained color later on. examples of such toons include Mickey Mouse and to some extent the original Looney Tunes.
type: how much of their world is meant to reflect society at the time?
natural creates its own world to thrive in, usually has a clear class order and borrows references to culture mostly for jokes or puns, whether they're verbally written or visually displayed. (ex. Silly Symphonies)
synthetic borrows more from reality and applies plenty of elements of modern society in order to parody it while simultaneously treating its characters more as equals in given scenarios. (Looney Tunes)
studio: the specific animation production company that represents the toon
Tumblr media
as you can imagine, the most effective element in their categorization is in their type. when narrative is applied to one specific type or the other, they take on distinctive characteristics. some rubberologists claim that rubberhose toons need to have their own classification system based on narratives, while others argue that some have become too dynamic for that sort of distinction. curiously, there has been a noticeable correlation between a toon's colorscaling and their dynamicism within narratives, namely in repainted toons. as they're the ones that have been through the most change in their portrayal, it stands to assume that they would adapt to narratives better than most.
the easiest way to figure out a toon's type is by looking at how they and their narratives operate. a natural rubberhose toon typically has its own distinct worldbuilding with a fable-based narrative that serves a lesson. meanwhile, a synthetic toon aims more to build on reality while also having an emotional-based narrative that serves parody and satire.
Tumblr media
this is not to say toons cannot interact with other rubberhose types depending on their classifications, or even borrow small elements from each other. although they're definitely limited in what they do and what they can borrow depending on their types, all rubberhose toons have a tendency to adapt well to any portrayal. in theory, this is because synthetic characters will break character and overall reality "only when it's funny", and natural characters are just full of enough whimsy to get along with anybody. this element has been successfully achieved before, with the most famous example being the collision of worlds between Warner Brothers and Disney in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"
Tumblr media
interestingly enough, a more direct way of gaging the rubber type is by "updating" them, which basically means taking the character and giving them genuine real-world nuance. this, however, can lead to a drastic shift in the overall tone. synthetic rubberhose often goes rather dry compared to their original portrayals, as seen in shows like Tom&Jerry; there's often not that much music and scenes are portrayed more mundanely. it can even get noticeably cynical, as it removes any real cushioning of their narratives. natural rubberhose, on the contrary, develops a rather different personality. rather than dry, it gets self-referential and in plenty of cases morbid, as rubberhose physics are suddenly interpreted as actual violence. for example, in cases like the Mickey shorts and especially the Cuphead Show, there are moments of implied cannibalism made to look over-the-top and "cartoony", however with the way it's often handled, it comes off as disturbing overall in some element. (side note: this is one reason why Chef Saltbaker has yet to be adapted into the Cuphead Show, as his initial goal in the game is to consume your soul, so when placed next to certain moments in the show, you can quickly see how much care needs to be put into his portrayal first.) this also includes when you attempt to reapply rubberhose physics to synthetic cartoons, which for good reason tend to remove those physics. the most egregious example of this has been infamously featured in "Looney Tunes Cartoon"*, where in one instance, Elmer Fudd attempts to shoot Bugs like he did in past portrayals, but this ultimately leads to the character becoming rather gross and twisted. yes, this is unfortunately not the only disturbing thing featured in that show.
it is rather sad to see that this has affected their overall appearances, however not all hope is lost, as the recent film "The Day the Earth Blew Up" proves that rubberhose, when treated with the proper nuance while also taking on modern elements, can and will prevail in modern times to many adoring fans, even in the face of adversity.
*note: the original except said this scene was featured in "Wabbit!" however this is a misidentification and this was actually in "Looney Tunes Cartoon". with modern Looney Tunes., it is easy to mistake one portrayal for another, and it wouldn't be surprising if there was anything i had missed.

New hidden releases for the Calico Critter official website After a certain amount spent in an order, you can get these 2 bonus free gifts: baby grace hopscotch in a bell costume (looks like they've officially moved over to the UK name Chocolate Rabbit), and a Christmas Pastry Chef set with I believe a sister from the tuxedo cats.
I haven't found any other info about them and can't get a closer look at the sets. Looks like potentially at least $30ish to get the bell baby, and maybe $50 to also add the pastry set, which you might need to re-add at checkout to make sure it added in properly.
