Things I've noticed I do as an automatonkin:

Manually thinking of every step that needs to be done when I drive a car, like "step on breaks, oops too hard, gentler next time" or "shift gear, turn blinker on, slow down, turn, now gas, etc"

Mechanical, stilted movements when packing the dishwasher.

Random pauses during walking to recalibrate my balance.

Paying too much attention to my limbs when in public to ensure I'm doing 'fluid' enough motions so I don't attract attention.

Putting my hands behind my back like Rabbit does in that one song (gif for reference)

Often when I'm feeling dogmode or any other kind of alterhuman way, I like to play video games as a way of self-expressing. Especially ones that let me play as something similar to [x creature] I feel like at that moment. Here are some I'd recommend to others, sorted into vague categories. Almost all of them will include some degree of character customization, as that's what I look for the most in games like this.

Canines:

WolfQuest: A simulation game where you live as a wolf, finding a mate and raising pups together. There's a learning curve, but it's so much fun to play. The devs really do a wonderful job of striking a balance between realism and enjoyable gameplay.

WolfHome (browser game): An MMO/chatroom that is very old and very dead, but I still like to hop in it and emote for funsies.

Reach of The River: You can play as a deer or a wolf.

Rabbits:

Bunhouse: A cute gardening game where you play as a rabbit that can walk on both two legs and four.

Deer:

The Deer God: A pixel game on Steam where you get to be a deer. Not super great, but I liked how relaxing it was.

The Endless Forest: A free indie game from the early 2000s where you play as a deer with a human face in an idyllic forest. No chat system, no identification beyond a pictogram if you choose to make an account. You can customize your deer with masks, pelts, and antlers, but you need the help of other players to do it!

Reach of the River: You can play as a deer or a wolf.

Birds:

Feather: A relaxing game where you play as a bird and fly around. Yes, that's it. Yes, it's beautiful.

Untitled Goose Game: It's a beautiful day, and you are a horrible goose.

Various real-world animals:

Meadow: A relaxing, no-combat, no-chat game where you can play as various mammals (and a few birds, and a frog!) including lynxes, foxes, goats/deer, rabbits, hedgehogs, pheasants...

The Shelter Series (including Paws): Badger (Shelter), Lynx (Shelter 2/Paws), Elephants (Shelter 3). Made by the same company that made Meadow.

Animalia Survival: An MMO survival game where you can play as a lion, zebra, wildebeest, hunting dog, and various other African animals. This one isn't as enjoyable as a game, it relies heavily on finding a good server that isn't toxic, but I still like prowling around as a lioness in it.

Dinosaurs and Reptiles:

Beasts of Bermuda: Like Animalia Survival, but with dinosaurs. Relies on finding a good server.

Lil Gator Game: You are a baby crocodile anthro running around in a world of other creatures.

Bugs and Aliens:

Empires of the Undergrowth: Ant life simulator. It's pretty good, but strategy-oriented.

Rain World: Slugcats are both slugs and cats. Somehow they feel more like aliens to me though.

Outer Wilds: You are an alien exploring space. This one has a beautiful story and is very immersive.

Drunk on Nectar: Various bugs, including jumping spider, mantis, and butterfly.

Robots:

Warframe: A free game that has a fantastic story once you get into it. Lots of shooting things in space, but you can swap between Warframes and customize your Warframe's colours etc.

The Talos Principle: A puzzle game with strong themes of religion, autonomy, personhood, etc. You are a robot.

Misc:

Book of Travels: If you kin any kind of human from older eras of humanity you might like this one. I can't explain it, but it brings me comfort when I'm feeling Paleolithic despite not being in that era at all.

Roblox: There are tons of games on Roblox that will allow you to play as all kinds of creatures, from realistic to fantasy. Warrior Cats Ultimate Edition, Feather Family, and Farm Life are ones I enjoy a lot. There are various dragon and dinosaur ones too, gryphons, unicorns, etc.

Furcadia: There are so many realms where you can be whatever you want. The community is very furry and alterhuman friendly. It can be quiet in the SFW areas but it's still absolutely worth checking out.

Illarion: You can play as various fantasy races. Roleplay is enforced, but I personally like it for wandering around as an orc or a lizardman or what have you.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey: If you kin any kind of ape or prehistoric human, this one's for you!

Personally I really recommend checking out Roblox, there are SO many beautifully-made games with shockingly good graphics on there. Not just for therians either!

For humanoids, I also generally recommend games with fun character customization screens like Skyrim, Baldur's Gate 3, and Elden Ring, even if the gameplay itself doesn't bring me much euphoria.

i use she/it/he pronouns (no they/them) and i like being referred to with both masculine and feminine terms. i prefer canine vivterms, but ones related to my other kintypes are welcome too. i don't need a name. i'm 19, born in '06. i am autistic and somewhere on the schizophrenic spectrum, and mentally ill. i am also physically disabled, with chronic joint pain that often affects my mobility. i am mixed; white & native Canadian. I was born and raised in Ontario, Canada, and I still live here. I don't plan on moving outside of the country.

Won't say where exactly we live aside we don't live by a beach, which can be a nice ol' kin trigger. Nature is always nice. The ocean is very nice. Do I need it? I can live without it. After all, this isn't a seafaring body.

I have not. I should. That would be nice, to try and encourage more experiences. I usually take note of plural experiences because time in/around tlpa community, so I have internet journals worth of sporadic activity concerning internal non-singular affairs.

What is your experience and thoughts about the alterhuman community?

I don't like the system discourse seeping in, it is scaring me and it makes me think people are not understanding what it means to disqualify these experiences. I'm confused about quadrobics. I'm always saddened about fictionkin's dilution, though that is from outside in. I do think we need less posts about the community itself and more experience posts. There's a reason why the online conventions are always more enthralling, and that's because they bind together love for sharing experiences.

Hmm... I am open about it online. I don't directly tell people.

What is (are) your therio/kintype(s)?

I boil it down to OC and fictional salmon shark (Syakesan, but I'm certain I may have went by the game's english translation: Sal). My very first kintype was kitsune, though not really sure we're that or not anymore. It is there as a shadow, and I do have some respect for Inari still.

Do you like to make little jokes about your identity or is it rather serious for you?

Life's a comedian and I am a joke. There's truth in jest.

I can joke about it but it is serious for me, yes. The absurdity and the brevity of it.

Not new. 8. If you ask me for advice I'll sugar coat it with "I think's" and "I could be wrong's".

Oh geeeeeeez there's some characters out there that remind me of me. I have to restrain my petty little mind from grasping onto them in any way, including otherheart. Akechi Goro reminds me of me only because it reminds me of Sal me. Playing that game (persona) was an experience!

I have to separate myself from my body. It's fine, but the body is jarring. Aha...

The need to.... uhm.... hm... See, though I'm a shark I'm pretty humany. I don't have the desire for the hunt. The need to mope. The desire to hate myself. The want for something more.

Rawr! I haven't an urge in the slightest.

We do get claws and teeth. The symbolic wolf of fear and anger. But that's different.

Deep down (like if you put a shovel to the dirt only slightly-- that deep), I want a canine tail. That'd be fun to wear. Yes. Any kind of fur.

Not the expert. Think aquariums are great, or some of them. I see the sharks and go hello there, suckers! In all seriousness, do really love going to aquariums. Love it to bits, more than the zoo.

Tbh the only place Ive ever really talked in-depth about my alterhumanity is on Mastodon, but I havent used it in uh... A long time. and I keep forgetting it exists. (I find it a lot harder to make connections on there honestly.)

But here's a list of my identities, in no particular order, just how I remember them:

- Horse! I havent really thought about the specific type of horse I am, but I would like to think I'm some kind of draft horse.

- Feline! I use "feline" as a more broad term than simply 'cat' or a specific feline type, because I feel connected to several feline species. Clouded Leopards, black housecats, and king cheetahs. My feline theriotype is my strongest one though.

- Bunny! This is my most recently discovered theriotype. I dont really consider myself any particular subtype, just like... Overall, I'm bnuuy. Although, specifically bunny and not rabbit.

- Robot.. Ish? More like whatever Warframes count as and are made of. Biomecha is a more fitting term now that I think about it.

- Bat! Although I dont feel this one as strongly anymore, I still feel connected to bats. Mainly the fruit bat.

- Dragons! Dragon theriomythic was my first discovered theriotype and it holds true to this very day. My specifics include being an ice dragon. Although ice powers don't exist in real life, I do find myself more acclimated to colder places, and I despise warmer environments.

- Fictionkin. Mainly, Soundwave from Transformers, alongside Jinx from Arcane and League of Legends. I used to most strongly see myself as Soundwave but after getting more in touch with the rest of my identity, that has weaned somewhat. Still important to me.

- Chimera. Maybe not in the typically described sense (The typical mythological Chimerae are described as a fusion between a lion, a goat, and a snake), but rather in the sense that I am a fusion of different theriotypes, all of which I see as important to me. Although I find it funny how close my theriotypes are to the similarity of an actual Chimera: clouded leopard or black cat for the lion, dwarf horse or bunny for goat, and dragon for snake.

I think that's it really? I used to be hyena theriotype as well, but I have since dropped that aspect of myself. I also used to be a manticore too, but again, have since dropped it.

I take my identity very seriously, but I am totally fine with people who do it for fun or aren't as serious about it. Regardless of what you put your alterhuman experience as, your identity deserves to be respected. I also am more than happy interacting with "doubles" of my fiction-kintypes.

Edit: I also forgot to add vulpine. Not as strong as it used to be but still somewhat a part of me. And pandas.
