Hello Friends!

Long time no see! I hope you are all doing well and that the holidays have been smooth for you. I was snooping around on Tumblr and realized that I hadn't posted in a while, and I have a few inboxes about the state of my simblr story. I thought I could make this little update!

My life has drastically changed since the last time I spoke to you all. I've moved into an apartment with my boyfriend and his sister, we have two cats, and I barely find the time to sit down and play anything anymore, much less the Sims. But that isn't the reason I've been gone so long! Lord knows I'm slightly insane and I have posts queued up for weeks, perhaps a month or two, but the main reason I haven't posted or even played the Sims 4 since before Horses came out (that sounds crazy) is because the last time I had tried to play the Sims 4, my game was severally broken. No matter what I did, nothing was fixing it, and after about three weeks of trying to fix it, I eventually gave up.

I actually went back to the SIms 3, and have been enjoying the little amount of downtime that I have to play. It's a breath of fresh air to not have to constantly worry about mods being outdated, or seeing if my game broke because of a patch. That being said, I do miss the Sims 4, and my many, many little pixel families, and of course, the Baudelaires, this Tumblr, and the friends I've made here.

This isn't the end of the Baudelaires by a long shot, and while I don't know when I'll be back, I am going to try and be a tech geek and see if I fix my game soon. In the meantime, I'll probably lurk around and read up on my favorite stories, see the latest Simblr discourse (jk) and of course, see the new CC content creators have dropped.

So I'm Finally Watching the Tudors...

And why is Henry absolutely fucking unhinged. Like balls to the walls crazy. Idk how historically accurate this show was but goddd damn. Also I love Catherine of Aragon with my entire heart why does everyone wash over her and have pity right for Anne Boleyn.

So my game crashed twice when I was playing the 1550s, and instead of rage quitting and deleting the save, I've decided to start in the 1300s, with occults, AND deleting the 1550s save. Very excited to have medieval vampires and werewolves.

Just Rambling

Below is just a bunch of ramblings~

So, my boyfriend got new computer parts for his pc, and is giving me the old ones for my own! All I need is a graphics card, a case, and an SSD and then I’ll FINALLY get to play the Sims on a pc again and not a laptop! 😭 Although I do love my lil laptop, she’s a trooper, I want to be able to play more games and have better looking Sims. And the SPACE can you imagine?!

Right now I have an external hard drive JUST for my Sims 😭😭 I had to learn how to jerry rig my files so my Sims game is fully on my external hard drive. I’ve learned more about computers from trying to fix the Sims games than any tech class will ever teach me.

In other news, during this week off from work I kinda went crazy and made so many drafts, so now I just have to post them all! I didn’t go as insane as last time (i was almost done an entire generation before half of it was shown on my blog 💀) but as a lil secret? surprise?, all of the Mendoza children have been born in game, and Salvatore is a child! I’ve actually aged up all of the kids to see how they’re going to look and oh my god??? Salvatore is the PRETTIEST sim I’ve ever had born in game??? When he does age up to a young adult I’m gonna hardly have to adjust anything on him! 🤭 So excited for y’all to see him, and the other kiddos of course.

In the meantime, to combat my impulsiveness, I’ve been playing a lot on my switch, mostly Dreamlight Valley and a new game I got. Side note I was looking around on Tumblr to see what the Dreamlight tag had going on and there’s Sully x Reader fanfic???? He’s not even in the game yet??? hello????

Some Updates

So, after a few days of tinkering around my files and melting my brain, I have some good news and bad news.

Bad news; I lost the Baudelaire save 😔 Somehow or another, the save file got corrupted, and I had long been passed the point of no return. Nothing I could've done would save it, and while I did have saves of the family, those saves were corrupted as well. In addition to this, I lost had to do a complete purge of all of my cc, which is kinda a blessing in disguise. That folder was RIDDLED with broken cc/mods and I needed to go through it ages ago. With a fresh new start, my game is so much more faster and I can actually sort my cc/mods into proper folders and not lose my mind every time I have to go through them.

Good news; my game is fixed! 😅 Everything seems to be working so far, even with the addition of mods and such. So, it seems like I'm starting over! While I am very upset about losing the Baudelaires, I'm also excited for a restart. Their story, although planned out, didn't make much sense in my own head and there were many things I wish I had changed. The newer rendition of the family will still include Evaline and Walter, and the family tree connecting them to Charlotte and Alexander, however a few things will be different, starting with their new last name!

The Baudelaires will now be known as the Mendozas, with Walter being the son of two immigrants, making him a first generation born in America in his family. Evaline is still relatively the same, but rather than going from a rather privileged life to another, she is outcasted by her father for marrying Walter and she must learn to adjust to this new way of life.

I am very excited for this start over, since it means I can use infants for the second generation, AND I can use horses before they become too old fashioned. And I can also use all of the cute new late victorian cc that's come out since.

I won't be deleting the Baudelaires or any of those posts, so if you'd like to reread or just take a look at Evaline and Walter 1.0, you can still do so under the Baudelaire Tag. I also might post some of the already finished posts that I had (I was in the 1900s with the Baudelaires) as little extras or something, since there are a few posts I am very proud of.

so my game crashed and now is doing that infinite loading screen glitch after cas on my decades family and i REALLY hope i can fix it. the other time it did this, i had to delete and give up on my family because it glitched them (saved them to cas, put in a new save and it still did it) god why is this game so fucking buggy

All of my main saves are pregnant/has a baby and I don’t want to play them until the infants update, so woo here we go making a completely different save to play with until then 💀

Venting Down Below 👇🏼

I was originally really excited to be back and to be making posts and everything, but man does this game suck all of the joy out of me sometimes. My game is still broken, and I’ve spent hours at this point trying different methods to get it fixed. I downloaded Better Exceptions and hoping that will help me figure out if a mod (if any) is the culprit behind my infinite loading screens or not, but every forum i’ve dug through doesn’t give me the resolve I’m looking for. The Sims 4 is such a fun game don’t get me wrong, but it’s time like these where I can’t even play the game because of how fucked up the spaghetti code is that make me never want to touch it again.

I’ve made a good haul of posts (up until 1904) but I was really excited to continue. The Baudelaire children are teens/children by this point in the story and I finally get to start their stories but the game is making it impossible for me. So, I’m not going to touch it for a bit. I’ve been replaying my favorite game series ever (Bioshock) and it’s giving me tons of inspiration, so hopefully my Sims problems will be easily solved soon.

Just sucks that this happens all of the time. It honestly makes me not want to waste any more of my money on it.
