thinking about jamil who's trying to impress you with his cooking, trying all sorts of dishes, different spices, different ingredients, spending hours cooking in the kitchen just to try and coincidentally tell you he's accidentally made too much food again, and it'd help so much if you could take it off his hands

you always do, smiling gratefully and accepting the food with both hands, your words of gratitude spilling freely from your mouth and it'd make him so happy-

but he's never seen you eat the food.

he's a bit confused, he's heard you mention to others that you don't get a lot to eat from the headmaster, and he's always seen you readily eat food others give you, the tarts you get from trey, the apples epel gifts you, even the dubious mushroom dishes jade offers... (no he wasn't keeping count!)

so he gets the courage to ask you one time, making it seem like it was another coincidence when he finds you at the library, making casual conversation before asking you what you thought of his food

"oh! i think it was delicious! grim seemed to really enjoy it!"

you... think?

he asks if you'd had any of the food, and you avert your eyes, seemingly hesitant

"ahh.. i haven't... i have awful spice tolerance you see..."

the next time he gives you "leftovers", he makes sure to tell you he made a non-spicy variant of curry, so you should be able to enjoy it

what you don't know is that he spent a few nights trying to perfect a non-spicy dish, researching different cusines and ingredients before finally setting on an eastern variant of curry that seemed to suit your tastes

but it's all worth it, the way you stared at him in awe, maybe realising this wasn't a leftover at all, and the way your eyes sparkled as you excitedly asked-

"oh!! do you mind if i try it now?"

This might just be me being picky bc I’m annoyed but the fact that Sparrow Ben lost his entire family and he keeps telling the Umbrellas “you’re not family, my family is dead” and in response they go “it’s cool, you’re our Ben now” in a laughing off his loss and grief way and not in a “we care about you and want to help you get through this” sort of way bothers me😭 And let’s be honest they don’t even know him, he just looks like their dead brother (but he also doesn’t since Ben didn’t look that way when he died??? So I’m lowkey confused why he aged but maybe it was explained and I forgot)

Also just wanna reiterate that Five and Lila were gross. Also Klaus was pretty much sex trafficked and it was at most used as a joke and at least a random plot that was both pointless and then never addressed even though he was repeatedly assaulted 🙃

im going crazy with how people are starting to agree with snow that sejanus was really stupid and deserved what was coming to him. reading the books first should be a pre requisite to the movie idcccc if that takes away the wider audience, the wider audience all have smooth brains anyway.

“why was he colluding with rebels when he could’ve just thought about it pragmatically 🙄” i’m in your fucking walls. sejanus was never dumb, snow just kept pushing that perception of him through the book to deflect the fact that sejanus was an actual good person. snow thought himself the personification of good and benevolence, which was why everything he did had to have some half-assed excuse as to why he was justified in doing it. it was why he was actually tweaking in the woods when lucy gray left him, because he wanted to rid himself of her but he didn’t have an actual reason so he convinced himself of the most random scenario ever to justify trying to shoot at her. so we can establish that snow was an evil broke boy who clearly wasn’t good— then sejanus was a direct confrontation of snow’s own shortcomings towards that (i don’t think i have to detail how sejanus was genuine, it was obvious). coriolanus and sejanus are like the direct opposite characters of each other, and snow knew and took pride in this to an extent. which is why snow couldn’t admit that sejanus was good to himself, thus sejanus was deemed ‘stupid’ to protect his own deluded self actualisation (but this also includes other aspects like how the war made the plinths rich and the snows poor, leading to resentment and jealousy from snow).

“but that still didn’t mean he wasn’t doing dumb things throughout the book” was it really that dumb? a rebellion will always include some level of risk but i don’t hear anyone calling heavensbee stupid because it actually worked out for him. plus sejanus is district, so if we use our common sense of who he is as a character and emotional intelligence of his situation, it’s pretty easy to see why he would get in touch with rebels. he’s literally always yearned for the districts, he never once cared about his money or safety, which isn’t stupid, it’s sad. this was his way of dealing with the guilt of profiting from his people’s suffering— again, not stupid. you could argue he was reckless, especially when he went into the arena, but most people who simply cast him as a ‘dumb character’ ignore how troubled he is and fall into the very filtered lens of snow who was just concentrating on his stupidity.

sejanus’ growing radical actions had nothing to do with stupidity and everything to do with feeling helpless and like nothing was changing. he tried minor/low-risk things such as attempting to change the perception of the districts in the capitol, advocating against the hunger games etc etc. of course it didn’t work, so his options grew limited to more radical courses of action. its a natural line of thought— activists literally do it in real life when they feel as if their cause isn’t getting enough attention (eg. setting themselves on fire). sejanus is a desperate character who is so selfless in light of snow’s constant self-preservation. snow will always put himself first and be paranoid that he will be betrayed like he’s betrayed others, so he never understands sejanus’ disposition to help and trust people, so he labels him dumb. omg. like. sejanus is so not-stupid i’m actually gonna start freaking out!! this is defamatory leave my boo alone!! plz go read a book and work on media literacy i am begging!!!

okay so even though the Ash and Goh goodbye was ages ago, i still wanted to say something about it.

So, basically, looking back at all the goodbyes Ash has had in the past with other friends, I just noticed that they seem to be the one thanking him, and saying the kind of stuff along the lines of 'I'm glad i met you', in different ways I guess. (Like Lillie literally just says it, or Serena...yeah did that 👀) as shown...

Long story short, when it's time for Ash and Goh to say goodbye, i love how bittersweet it is and how they both have that fond look on their faces too, like neither of them really want to end their journey. This isn't even the point I'm trying to make rn but it's so cute kjhadzjs

ANYWAY (look at their smiles oh my god i cant) We find that in the end ASH is the one who suddenly announces to Goh, first as well, 'I'm glad i met you.' and he even goes on to say 'Thank you' after that as well.

I honestly thought that was so sweet, bc especially after Ash has travelled to so many regions he's used to being the one to be thanked by other people and it just kind of shows how much important Goh is to him. Even Goh was surprised and the bit where he said he might cry made me want to cry too 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

OK even though i wanted to maybe have a more better goodbye (maybe i'll talk about that in a later post) this was a very sweet moment that my attention latched onto <33

I swear I cannot look at many posts or threads about Clair Obscur (or at least not the comments) because so many people are arguing over which is the "good" ending and which is the "bad" ending and which ending is more "ethical and moral" and which isn't and I am just like... my beloveds, not everything is completely black and white and can be easily categorized into these simple all-encompassing labels. I for one find the so-called "good and moral" ending to be absolutely horrifying and hit really close to home in a bad way while I find the "bad, unethical ending" to be also horrifying but in a way that I find interesting and tolerable. Yet, still, I very much see why different people with different life experiences and perspectives appreciate the other one more. That's nuance, babe! Which I think is the whole thing. If you are expecting a game full of unreliable narrators, deeply flawed characters, opposing yet understandable perspectives, and conflicting narratives to suddenly wrap up into very binary and objective "Good" and "Bad" endings then I am afraid you have greatly misunderstood both the game and the endings as well as the general intent of the story.

Both of the endings are as good or as awful as you make them out to be. Someone always wins and someone always loses and whichever one you find more palatable is entirely up to your own observations through the lens of your personal experiences. I don't get these arguments and shaming because there is IS no objective "correct" answer and to say otherwise is missing the point big time.
