Wanted to add on to the "Raph avoiding sleep at all costs" thing with doodles I had made earlier today oop

... Raph has reoccurring nightmares after the events of Chapter 3. He can't get out of his head the face he saw in that one tape while he was hallucinating... And it doesn't help that his mind keeps twisting it into something worse and worse every time.

He wakes up in a cold sweat. Trembling. Breathing heavily. His heart thumping hard in his chest. And he wants to scream and sob. But he can't. He doesn't want to wake up the kids.

He's found... Ways to cope. Even if they aren't the safest. It hurts for a while, but at least the toys get the rest that they need.

So uh ... Yeah. When he does get some rest, it's... Usually short-lived. He really tries his hardest to hide it from the kids, not wanting to put another burden on their shoulders, but uh...

Yeah. Catnap ain't having any of that bullshit.

Edit : I'm realizing how ironic it is that Catnap is the one that knows about Raph's nightmares and wants to make sure he gets rest when he was literally the being behind said nightmares in the first place 💀

ROTTMNT Boys x GN! Theatrical Villain with dubious motives and a playful streak

Summary: The Hamato brothers deal with a supervillain with dramatic flair and a penchant for games.

Headcanons for: Mikey, Leo, Donnie, and Raph

Mikey:

He is instantly captivated. He’s wide-eyed the moment they somersault onto the scene with a dramatic entrance and an evil laugh. “DUUUDE. She’s like a real-life anime villain!!”

Even if they're not subtle with their misdeeds, Mikey won't write them off as completely evil. He'll take Y/N's constant games as irrefutable evidence that they're not bad, they just need a nudge in the right direction.

Just like with Baron Draxum, Meatsweats, and Cassandra, Mikey will NOT give up on Y/N. Even if it takes the rest of his life, he WILL get them to change! Or at the very least steal less...

He isn't one to judge and no matter the crime, he's quick to find some justification behind it. It annoys his brothers to no end just how often he'll make excuses for Y/N's antics.

"See? They even returned it! Does that scream 'Evil Villain' to you?"

No one is convinced...

Won't admit it out loud, but he secretly looks forward to facing off with Y/N. Treats it as much of a game as they do. No consequences, just good ol' fun!

He might even leave a few notes of his own hidden around where the brothers might be expecting Y/N to next.

He'll leave them inspirational quotes like "Every day is a new opportunity!" or "Someone somewhere cares about you!"

Might even leave a few sketches he's made of them scattered around for them to find. He considers it an olive branch of sorts.

Oh yeah... He's sketched them more often than he cares to admit. He even has their name graffitied into his sketchbook... They may or may not have received a few of these in the mail from an anonymous 'fan'.

He definitely fangirls if Y/N manages to pull off a particularly difficult heist. Like he's secretly rooting for them. And honestly, he kinda is.

The way he sees it, as long as no one's really getting hurt, what's the harm?

He might even compliment their tastes or gush over their 'ingenious plan' during battles.

He might as well consider himself Y/N's number one fan. Everyone else can see just how hard he's pining for them, but he insists it's just admiration! "Can't a guy swoon over a few well-placed traps?"

Unfortunately, he does get a bit distracted as a result of their captivating banter. And Y/N gets away. Every. Single. Time.

He bites the bullet one day and decides to send them a long and rambling love letter about how amazing their last escape was and if he could get their autograph and maybe a lock of their hair.

Leo:

A villain with theatrical flair? Oh, Leo is all FOR IT.

Every fight turns into a back-and-forth exchange of sass and innuendo. It's non-stop flirting the whole time. The rest of the team groans.

“Can you two not flirt mid-battle?!” "Or get a room, for the love of god!"

He's definitely on board with their little games. Listens to every dramatic monologue with keen interest. He's legitimately invested in their maniacal schemes.

Especially considering that Y/N never takes things too seriously. What's the point of villainy if they're not allowed to have a little fun? And it's not like anyone's actually getting hurt.

Obviously, he's not too keen on the whole 'criminal' aspect, but eh, he can let that slide. Who hasn't stolen a few trinkets? If it weren't for his brothers, Leo would definitely be going along with their villainy.

Besides, with banter this good, who can resist? It's like they were tailor made for each other!

"Fancy seeing you here again, Y/N. Can't blame ya, I am a work of art after all~"

He LIVES for the fun banter, the dramatic exits, it just screams classic villain vs. hero. Plus, it gives him a chance to show off his rad skills. Who doesn't love an audience?

Fair warning, though, he is not one to be outdone and will play things up to an obnoxious degree. Leo will make it his life mission to one-up Y/N in showmanship, to out-wit them with his killer one-liners, to be the guy that gets the last laugh.

So what if they get away? The gang can always catch them later. He won't admit that he's really only using that as an excuse for more battles.

He has gotten in trouble for letting them walk free because he just makes it SO. OBVIOUS.

"Same time next week, gorgeous?" "LEO! THEY ARE RIGHT THERE!"

Pretends he’s unaffected by their charm, but he’s so into them. Every time they escape, he paces the rooftop like a lovesick fool. Donnie's caught him monologuing to himself a time or two, the dork.

Would never try to change Y/N's villainy ways, that's more of Mikey's thing. If it's not broke, why fix it? And he definitely enables their schemes. He might even throw in a few suggestions here and there.

"You call that an escape? Leave this to the pros. Allow moi." He literally portals them out of there.

The taunting notes might get under his skin if they hit a little too close to home, but for the most part, he likes to think of them as a challenge. And Leo's never one to back down from a challenge!

Eventually confesses in the middle of a duel. It comes out of the blue (pun intended) too. But it's subtle enough that it doesn't register until well after the battle. “Y’know what? I like you, sparkle-bomb. Even if you’re the biggest headache I’ve ever had.”

Donnie:

Starting out? Utter disdain. Aggravation, frustration, humiliation. Y/N's games are the bane of Donnie's existence. Their villainy has earned them a top spot on Donnie's hit list (not an assassination list, just a list of people he wants to hit).

Each heist, each failed mission, every little note is a blow to his pride. He takes every note as a taunt and those taunts haunt his every nightmare. He will absolutely lose sleep over Y/N and not in a good way.

Eventually, he learns to tolerate them. After all, their schemes are pretty impressive, even if he isn't too fond of their motives. Especially when it comes to the higher-risk missions. There's a small level of begrudging respect there.

The one thing he absolutely CANNOT get over is their devil-may-care attitude or how casually they just go around wreaking havoc. Reminds him a little too much of Leonardo and he's not exactly a fan.

“A competent villain is not all that special. Their calculations are sloppy. Their logic is flawed. Their outfit has—ugh. Fantastic layering!"

Won't ever for the life of him say that they're a better... well, anything than him (definitely his pride talking), but he starts reverse-engineering their confiscated tech after every fight. He spitefully disassembles their gadgets just to put them back together better.

Sends them back in mystery boxes just so he can brag about the new improvements he's made and definitely not to hear their praise.

Donnie hacked their communicator once just to prove he could. They responded by hacking into his lab and leaving a flirty voice note. He hasn’t deleted it.

He may or may not have sample-mixed their recordings to mess around with when he thinks no one's around. Mixes it up to say things like "You have bested me once again, Othello von Ryan! You truly are the superior one!".

They hack each other’s comms to send snarky messages. Y/N's are usually flirty. His are annoyed... mostly. Talks to them under various aliases. They figure out it’s him after, like, two messages.

“Donatello, darling, I’d know your neurotic typing pattern anywhere.”

They’ve fought entirely in binary code over encrypted signals. None of the brothers know what they’re saying. Mikey suspects it’s dirty.

Thinks about Y/N at the most inconvenient times. In the lab, during training, mid-sentence—suddenly they're there in his head with a smirk and a bad pun. It INFURIATES him.

Y/N definitely plays into his weaknesses by complimenting him or offering him praise mid-battle. And we all know how susceptible Donnie is to praise.

“Only someone truly brilliant could hack the city grid like that~” “Well, I—I mean, it’s basic physics and hacking theory but—ugh, stop looking at me like that.”

Raph:

Raph doesn't have the same appreciation for Y/N's dramatic flair as his brothers. In fact, he's suspicious as hell.

“They're too loud. Too showy. That ain’t normal.” He's constantly glaring at them like they just kicked his dog.

He hates how cool Y/N is in front of his brothers. They'll swing in, blow something up, strike a pose, and call him “Red Hot.” Leo’s wheezing. Mikey’s making kissy faces. Raph is about to throw a car.

Every time they call him a cutesy nickname mid-battle, he physically reacts. “Big guy.” “Muscles.” “My darling devastation~” Cue involuntary neck flex, eye twitch, and beet-red cheeks. Every. Single. Time.

Raphael has always been a big fan of martial arts and Y/N's form is no exception. Lowkey memorizes their fighting style. Not to beat them (okay maybe a little), but because he likes watching them move—graceful, bold, impossible to ignore. It’s art, even if it makes him flustered.

Wants to hate Y/N. Tells himself they're ridiculous, unserious, and a total distraction... but when they're not around, everything feels quieter. Boring. Empty.

Despite being on different sides of the battle, he would absolutely save them during a mission gone wrong. He says it’s “just so they can face us fair next time.”. Everyone can see right through that silly little excuse.

Eventually admits he respects their strength and wit. Even if they're annoying. He likes someone who can throw him across a rooftop and laugh while doing it.

He secretly trains harder after every encounter.

He won’t say it out loud, but part of him wants to impress Y/N—not just protect his brothers. He knows they're dangerous, but damn if he doesn’t want to keep up with them.

He always growls when they escape but never chases them as hard as he could. “One of these days, I’m gonna catch Y/N.” But he’s lying to himself. He lets them go every time.

If they ever flirt with someone else to get under his skin? Oh boy. The look he gives is pure murder—and the second they’re alone, he corners them like “You wanna explain what the hell that was?”

Y/N likes to pretend they have no idea what they're talking about. And ooh, does it ever piss the hell out of him.

Like his brothers, though, he isn't too against the idea of redemption. Hell, if it worked with Baron and Cassandra, Y/N would definitely be a candidate for change.

He would try to give them a second chance if they ever got seriously hurt or turned against a greater threat. “You’re still a pain, but... you don’t gotta do this alone.”

I’m not dead I promise!

I’m so sorry posts have been late lately. I’m gonna be completely honest and say the last one took me forever and I’ve been super busy. But I’m still working hard to keep posting my art.

Here is a little easter themed comic I made (because I clearly missed the holiday) and I wanted to do a post with Raph. Raph, like with all the turtles, is Kip’s ULTIMATE big brother. He was the first to truly understand she wasn’t one of Baron Draxum’s tricks, the mental issues and high standards she put on herself, and how she was just a kid who wanted to be loved. He comforts her on her mistakes and is a key part in Kip’s mental healing journey.

Kip in the Mutant Mayhem universe has a similar connection to her Raph but as that version of him is fueled with more anger, Leo and Raph sort of switch roles in that universe.

One more note: I don’t know if anyone saw this in the hashtags but please ask as many questions as you’d like about either Kip or Ellie or any other character I post! I love to talk…which I’m guessing you can tell.

YEOWL AND CASEY'S ORIGINS !! WITH LIL BITS SCRIBBLED AROUND !!!

essentially, leo and raph find two kids, hidden away in the middle of the apocalypse, and take them in. they both latched onto leo and raph, having been the first faces theyve seen.

the two of em clung to each other growing up. they share a birthday, the day they were found. they get their names separately; yeowl was named first. no matter how much anyone tried to get him to stay silent, yeowl just wouldnt shut up, earning him a nickname that just Stuck. that left his brother referred to as 'the kid'. this was unacceptable to Cassandra, immediately prompting her to call dibs and name the child after herself. keeping the brothers as a package deal, she officially names them Casey Jones Jr. and Yeowl Jones

just as how leo is essentially casey's dad/mentor/sensei, yeowl looks up to raph in a similar manner. theyre both raised collectively by the resistance though, with donnie and mikey being their uncles, april their aunt, and cass as their mom.

What is Utroms relationship with the trutles?

Pre-krang reveal: Utrom eventually makes himself known to the turtles post-invasion. Acting as a goofy mentor/uncle. He'll show up at random moments to give them advice on whatever high-jinx the brothers are currently in. Leonardo however, hadn't trusted Utrom since day one. So many things about the man screamed out red flags to him. The way that Utrom is everywhere, his strange amount of knowledge, his inhumane abilities- the list could go on. The rest of the turtles (and by extension- their friends & family), adored Utrom. His presence provides a great sense of comfort as he bestows his wisdom upon them.... also the guy is just fun. he buys them free pizza

Post-krang reveal After Utrom is outed for being a krang, the Trust between him and the turtles is completely shattered. They continue being on friendly terms (except for Leo) but ultimately become suspicious of his every action.

You see, While Utrom means well, He isn't exactly forthcoming with information regarding the kraang. The knowledge he shares is rather selective, only giving one piece of the puzzle instead of the whole picture. The turtles believe him on certain things yet don't trust Utrom to be entirely honest. Donnie continues to interact with Utrom while his brothers keep the kraang at arm's length. They spawn a mutual familiar bond, one akin to estranged Uncle and troubled nephew.

Bonus: Utrom and April

Unbeknownst to both Barry and April- Utrom had made his newfound home within their apartment complex. Utrom is a good neighbour (despite being a little mysterious). however, April wouldn't mind Utrom so much if he didn't playfully flirt with her mom on an occasional basis. He doesn't realize he's doing it, Utrom thinks he's simply being friendly and making Carol {aka April's mom} laugh. (headcanon: April's parents are divorced and carol is currently single.)

How was Raph's childhood with Camilla?

Camilla officially retired from being a boxer and moved onto becoming a sports coach after Raph was born, unlike football however boxing (according to what I've looked into) isn't as popular in Rio. Camilla's salary took a blow from the career change, but she wasn't necessarily poor

With the drop in her salary Camilla eventually made the choice to move to into a favelas (a slum area, and one of the more safer side). With how much of a power house she is Camilla wasn't really worried about being given trouble, but moved to a safer area none the less because of Raph

Most of Raph's memories as a kid are playing football with the other kids in the favelas where they'd craft makeshift goals using old tires or crates. Camilla was a very anxious parent so Raph was limited to playing only within the near area of the favelas, but again, with how big Camilla is and the fact she was an ex boxer no body really tried to give her or Raph trouble. He often helped his mother with any after school/outside of school football training Camilla would offer

After some time Camilla moved from being a football coach and offering training at the public school to offering boxing/self defence classes to people living in the favelas. Camilla essentially became a bit of a guardian figure to her favelas so her and Raph became well known in the community

After doing that for so many years Camilla applied for a coaching job in the city, while her coaching at the public school became an after school activity for any kids who simply wanted to learn more about sport. Eventually Raph and Camilla did move into the city when Raph was a a young adult but they remain very close with the community and visited often when they lived in Rio

when the twins are born Camilla and Raph moved to be closer to family. Camilla had debated moving when Raph was a baby but she didn't have the funds at the time, but moving had always been an end goal for her

Overall Raph had a very happy childhood! A bit stressful for Camilla when his weird zoot family power to teleport kicked in, but otherwise it was good. Raph grew up learning to work and support a community so values it a lot even as an adult. Very laid back but won't roll over for people who mistake him for being stupid because of his hippy like lifestyle (Camilla is very proud of her baby and loves him a lot)

Pretty generic question but does your player and the toys accompanying them ever have any moments where there’s nothing crazy going on in the factory and they have a moment to relax? Do they try to talk things out with the others during this time? Or is it just a moment of silence and taking in the peace of the quiet factory?

Oof, it's AU ramble time again. Also another question mix!! Hope you don't mind @an-eggs-quest & @tallahatchet (sorry for the tag sjkdfhskfhd).

Back in Safe Haven, they had tons of quiet moments, compared to what Raph would've have while descending deeper and deeper in the factory, which was... pretty much equal to zero.

The guy took to heart what Doey told him about "catching his breath". He would want to sit around the kids, maybe manage to cheer them up a bit and get them to laugh somehow. He'd also get curious about the drawings on the wall and would want to add his little contribution. Poor guy needs to feed his artistic brain a bit lmao. I like to think the critters would be intrigued and watch, maybe some of them would even join him. And maybe they'd make a drawing all together. It distracts everyone for a little while.

Raph tried taking things easy. As much as feasibly possible in their situation. It brought him a sense of normalcy he realized he terribly needed. And for a little while, he felt like genuinely smiling again.

After the Safe Haven incident, breaks are less frequent. The whole gang is tense from 1. everything that's already happened 2. the loss of their friends and 3. knowing they're being tracked down by Huggy and (presumably) the Prototype.

But when they find a remotely quiet and well-hidden spot, they let themselves relax. Catch some sleep. Even if just for a bit. They need the energy after all.

... Catnap usually keeps a sleepy eye on everyone. As for Raph...

... Let's... not talk about sleep. For reasons. (Bonus rambles in the tags !)

It had been an entire week since Raphael had gotten any sleep and the low, unintelligable mumbling that rumbled in his chest made it obvious that he could really use the rest. His body, mind, and very spirit were aching for a peaceful night's sleep and Raph was determined to will himself into bed despite the aches that riddled his body threatening to topple him over. He had barely reached past his room's doorway before he collapsed forward with a thud and a delayed groan, his face colliding with the cold, hard floor.

'Well, this isn't any better-' he thought to himself and struggled to wriggle and worm his body across with floor, the dragging of his spikes leaving scratches and cracks on the unmoving concrete. He'd worry about the scuff in the morning For now, his bed was far too inviting for his overworked body to ignore and by god was he going to get some sleep tonight. The week prior had been nothing but back to back patrols, the brutal rate of which started taking a major toll on the titan's massive form. The long-neglected bruises, scratches, and scrapes dotting his body made his quest for a good night's sleep all the more pressing. He was only inches away from the foot of his bed when his trek was interrupted by the pattering of soft footsteps beside him.

"Mikey, I'm not carrying you back to your room." he deadpanned, flattening his raised torso back onto the floor hoping to discourage his playful little brother from jumping onto his back and demanding a piggyback ride. As the footsteps stopped right next to his face, Raph turned his head and looked up through squinted eyes. Instead of olive green legs standing beside him, he was met with what he recognized as his significant other's kneeling form next to his face, a wrapped box being held out toward him. Raph blinked slowly up at Y/N and reached a tenative arm up to accept the gift.

"Babe, hey!" his voice was deeper and much slower than he'd wanted it to be, "What's with the-"

As soon as the parcel left their hands, Y/N wordlessly smiled down at the snapping turtle mutant and started back out the door in a haste.

"Uh… Th-Thanks! Love ya too!" he'd called out after them, the last part sounding uncertain considering they'd left in a hurry without so much as a greeting. Did they hate him all of a sudden? Were they mad at him? Did they mean to leave him a present sooner? Did they think he was unattractive lying on the floor like that? Okay, maybe the last one was a bit of a stretch, but nothing was off-limits in Raph's overthinking mind. But they'd left a gift, surely they must still at least LIKE him?

The turtle had glanced at the box that sat in his large palm, sitting himself up to examine his partner's handiwork. Chuckling to himself, he admired how delicately the red foil wrapping paper had been folded, edges neat and free of crinkles. The golden lace bow that sat so beautifully on top could only have come from their careful and precise hand; if there were ever someone with a knack for gift wrapping, it was his beloved Y/N.

In a thoughtless swish and tear, he unwrapped the plain medium sized box that hid underneath. His attention was caught by the little sticky note taped to the side of the box, reading:

Merry Christmas, my Red Angel!

I know you've been working extra hard and I wanted to show you how much I appreciate you and everything you do! Let me know how you like your new gifts!

PS. I named him Raph Jr.

"Raph Jr, huh?" he'd hummed while a cheeky, lovesick grin stretched across the boy's face and a dark blush colored his green cheeks. What did he ever do to deserve someone so wonderful and thoughful? How could he ever hope to repay them for such a kind gesture? His dreamy eyes read over the love note again and again, drinking in every sweet little word. All he could do was flail his hands and giggle like a little girl, fangirling quietly on the floor of his room not wanting to bring his brothers' attention to his silly little display. If they knew what a lovesick mess their big brother was and how easily Y/N could fluster him, the teasing would be merciless.

Lovingly, he eagerly dug in, tugging and pulling at the stubborn object packed tightly into the little box. After a few gentle and ineffective yanks, he gave a strong pull and forced the soft gift free of its tight enclosure, causing him to stumble onto his back in the process. The plush gift decompressed mid-air with an audible POOF and in a bounce, landed on top of the unsuspecting ninja.

"Wh-What the-?!" it took him a minute to focus his eyes on the large, green turtle plush that continued fluffing itself up to its full huggable capacity.

"Raph Jr…?" he snickered and sat himself up once again with the oversized stuffie letting out a squeak as he rested his elbows on its fleece shell.

"You can't sneak up on people like that!" Raph cooed in his baby voice, "Must've been a rough ride being stuffed into that itty bitty box, poor lil' guy. Don't you worry, wittle one, Papa Raph's gotcha now~"

Giving the plush a tight squeeze in his large arms, Raph let himself fall back onto the floor, nuzzling into the cozy warmth of the stuffed animal and slowly started to drift off. Falling deep asleep in a matter of seconds, he hadn't realized the cookies and even smaller box that still sat in the gift box. By far, the plush was more than enough for him now.

Jess is FULLY the Mom friend. She's a caretaker who loves her people, and let's be real, the boys need a mom-type person in their lives. Not just to be that calming presence when they need it, but to smack them upside the head when they're being idiots.

Red loves being the one being taken care of. It doesn't happen often, so when they start getting close it's almost uncomfortable at first but then he quickly falls hard and fast.

She's in part inspired by Disney's Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She's clever, well read, and ready to jump in and fix things when there is a problem. She and D are best friends in part because loves solving problems/puzzles, especially when it means she's helping her boys.

terrible news, everyone: i'm a pro-pineapple bitch. you may block and unfollow me now; i forgive you for being incorrect (/lh). i tend to be pescatarian if i can help it (i'm flexible due to money, and also i hate inconveniencing others especially if i'm a guest), so i prefer pizza without meats. i'm happy to eat any kind of veggie combination with the exception of banana peppers. never liked those for some reason. i also really like mushroom and eggs as pizza toppings. i'm kind of just an egg fiend in general; i love the taste of a well-made egg.

35.) which character relationships are your favorite to write/draw?

...since we're both OC people, i'm gonna take this as an opportunity to gush about canon and OC relationships: two of my favorite brotps. because they're character relationships i adore writing with all my heart and soul.

mikey, gwyn & ash i mentioned previously that @plantdonutwrites (jenn) writes for mikey in our RPs, so i consulted her for mikey's perspective on this brot3. i will paraphrase her answer in this paragraph:

"all his life, mikey's been used to only having his bros as company; they're family in a way that puts the rest of us to shame. but as they grew older they met all sorts of people, some became an extension of that family. raph has casey or maybe angel when he wants to dip for a bit. don has leatherhead or the professor (bree, too), and leo has usagi even if he's not 'as regular' (and min-ji, too). his brothers have their separate circles of friends, but, against all odds, mikey doesn't seem to have that (at least not until cassia shoved her foot in the loneliness door). then he bonded with gwyn and ash... but then they left. he realized that it wasn't just that they didn't treat him like 'the annoying brother who tags along' but because they'd actually become friends, and they were friends who didn't humor him. they liked the comics he talked about, they love klunk, and they're interested in his art and ideas. it meant a lot to him to have that--to know what it was like--and when they weren't around, he really felt the difference. in an odd way they helped him become a more empathetic person, too."

it's harder to answer in ash's perspective because she has a lot less agency than gwyn and, because gwyn's paranoid/won't let ash out of her own hands much less her line of sight, ash doesn't get a lot of one-on-one time with mikey. she's interacted with him a LOT more than she's interacted with most people--which absofuckinglutely means something--but since she does consider herself 'dead' and is at peace with the possibility she'll be a literal shapeshifting weapon for the rest of her sentience, i think a lot of his meaning to her (right now) is very rooted in what he means for gwyn. THAT being said.

mikey is gwyn's first real friend. like. ever. in all the time she's been alive. very much in the same way that the brothers only had each other for most of their lives, gwyn only ever had ash. her community considered her a parasite and an omen, so she was essentially outcast. gwyn grew up feeling she wasn't wanted, had to earn any love she received, and when ash died and became trapped in the weapon, all that transpired and followed afterward re-enforced that. i haven't talked about darach a lot--deliberately--but know that he's a masterful manipulator in more ways than one. if ch'rell was brute force and intimidation, darach is more like the pot you put a frog in and slowly turn up the heat. you don't realize you're being boiled alive until it's too late. thanks to his influence, gwyn's been tricked, back-stabbed, cornered, and watched people suffer 'because of her' countless times. when i said she was paranoid, i wasn't really being hyperbolic. she has SEVERE trust issues. ...then came mikey. someone who, unknowingly, had already given them a taste of his character.

gwyn and ash had heard of mikey's rematch with kluh during their travels--that the match was made mortal, that mikey had not only won but had spared kluh's life when he had every reason not to. darach wouldn't approach someone like him, they figured. and as time passed, mikey continued to not just be open and kind with them, but again and again he's emphasized to gwyn that they just... CARE. to quote him "we don't keep you guys around for any benefits other than being able to know you". which, in so many ways, is unheard of for gwyn. she still struggles to believe him sometimes, but she trusts him. mikey is her first and best friend, he's someone she admires, and he's proven time and time again that ash isn't the only person capable of loving her, and that she's worthy of that love by just being herself. i had to spend a lot of this answer on exposition because OC, but... i earnestly can't emphasize enough how much mikey's come to mean to gwyn. he asked her not to leave again without them, and she promised she wouldn't. that promise to him has kept her from running away and isolating. even though she's terrified--for herself, for ash, for them--she trusts him. writing them makes me so happy. it's been such a delight to see their relationship evolve and the influences they've had on each other and their worldviews. i love this brot3 so goshdang much.

min-ji & raph min-ji belongs to jenn and, oh my god, i love her relationship with raph so, SO much. when we rp, jenn's obviously writing for min, and i write for raph.

again! consulted jenn! her answer paraphrased below:

"raph's pretty much the first assertive person in her life that had her back early on? her home life is complex; her family DOES love her but sometimes that love can veer controlling and toxic (responsibilities/obligations). raph was a type of personality she'd never been around before, and he cared about her well-being in a way that was unconditional. hanging out with him more helped her become more assertive and in touch with parts of herself she was forced to suppress to be more palatable to her family. she's found that being angry about something that happened to her, or something that was said to her, doesn't make her bad or a burden. raph doesn't expect her to shy away from her flaws or nuances. he lets her be a person."

as for raph's end, it's kind of hard to put into words. but i love that min-ji has become one of the very few people he will allow himself moments of vulnerability around. like. instead of it just happening, he makes the choice to let a wall or six down. they've created a mutual safe space between each other.

i think this has cultivated from a lot of things. min was much more timid when they met--raph even made a bit of a point, initially, to not interact with her so much because she was skittish and on-edge thanks to surrounding events. but through the events of our writing, he's watched her grow in self-confidence, be more open, and allow herself to 'take up' more space. she's also survived two major threats to her life, now, both of which have scarred her physically and emotionally, yet she persists and continues to extend kindness to people who, in his opinion, don't deserve it. but that's HER business (while he makes his feelings known, he stays out of it unless she signals him otherwise). she may not be a fighter in a literal sense, but he sees her as an equal. like, he's still protective of her in dangerous situations since she's not trained to fight--obviously--but... i dunno, i guess it's more like "i've been through shit; you've been through shit; if i say things look bad right now, you won't like it but you also won't give up". he doesn't feel a pull to coddle her if things are looking grim, i guess is what i'm trying to say?; he'll shoot straight with her because he knows she IS a fighter. even if she doesn't fight. does THAT make sense?

like i said, it's hard to put into words. but i think it's a combination of min-ji's emotional strength and kindness as a person, as well as the fact she's not an immediate family member, that make it easier for him to let those barriers down around her and have severely needed moments of vulnerability where he doesn't dismiss pain or fear or anything else he might be feeling. he knows min would never lash out at him, physically, emotionally, or however else. min-ji is kind, and she's strong, and she's safe. he trusts her, values and respects her judgment and input. much in the same way his presence lets her feel like a person, she's extended that grace to him. just in a different way. i love getting to write interactions between them. there's always something warm and comforting in their exchanges, light-hearted or more melancholic. it's nice. the love is very much there.

I notice your AU revolves a lot around the OCs included in it, and their relationships with the other canon characters, and I was reading one of your older posts about Felony's relationship with each of the turtles and was wondering if you could maybe elaborate a bit on her relationship with Raph?

I'm just curious and I love lore so you know ehehensnsjsjsnsndnamak

Yeah, let's make this my first post in months after disappearing to deal with some health issues and NOT address that front at all!!!

First off, THANK YOU FOR ASKING as I actually don't get very many asks and I LOVE TELLING PEOPEL ABOUT THE LORE FOR MY AU-

And, just for you my friend, I have made an artpiece that pretty much encapsulates Felony and Raph's relationship in a nutshell (I had a lot of free time lol):

As mentioned previously, Felony is actually kind of fearful of Raph, mostly because he is bigger and stronger than her, and it actually ties in a bit to Felony's upbringing; in another post I made a joke about Felony spending time in solitary confinement. And uhh, that...wasn't entirely a joke, because Felony DID spend most of her childhood in prison and solitary confinement. When she was with general population, she was bullied and taken advantage of by the other prisoners, and since the neglectful guards that watched over the Hidden City Prison wouldn't do anything about it, Felony, at the age of 13, would start working out vigorously and teach herself in the ways of vicious hand-to-hand combat - and nearly killed her tormenter the next time they tried to pick on her.

Felony's mentality essentially is that the only way to avoid being beat up every day is to be the strongest, most vicious person around, and in prison, she was just that (and very much still is, I mean, the girl can dead-lift over twice her own weight) but OUTSIDE of prison, living with the Mad Dogs, its different. She instantly assesses and pins Raph as the strongest of the Hamato household for his strength (plus the mystic powers don't help) and recognizes that even utilizing her other skills, like her speed or agility, she realistically wouldn't be able to beat Raph in hand-to-hand combat. Felony is basically waiting for Raph to challenge her to a fight for the title of strongest and therefore, untouchable by anyone, and the idea of losing and falling back to where she was when she was 13 and relentlessly bullied is unbearable to her.

But I also honestly think that the idea of facing Raph in combat alone, without the looming thought of falling back to her previous position, is terrifying to Felony because, like I said before, Felony KNOWS Raph doesn't trust her, and can and will break her in two if she ever dared to hurt any of his brothers. The last thing Felony wants at this point is to provoke him further and push him far enough to fight her because Felony knows she won't win, and the concept of "pulling your punches" and NOT killing people in a fight like that, critically, doesn't resonate with her because she essentially grew up watching other people tear each other to shreds in prison. My girl may have a few screws loose, but she still has a sense of self-preservation!

On Raphs part, he has good reason not to trust Felony; its not just that she's emotionally unstable, always acting out in violent fits of rage and CONSTANTLY putting herself and other members of the team in danger, but really her own fear of Raph that makes him suspicious; I mean, why would she be scared of him if she has nothing to hide, if she's not doing anything wrong? Why would she be scared of him if she DOESN'T have malicious intent and thinks Raph is conceivably the only one that could stop her? It doesn't add up to him, thus, he tries to keep a close eye on her; which is a bit hard because Felony, of course, is terrified of Raph and tries to avoid him.

So basically, to sum it up, the two spend the first part of the story walking on eggshells around each other because they're both wary of one another - for reasons that don't really have full merit. Felony doesn't know Raph well enough to know that he isn't going to beat the tar out of her to prove he's the strongest or just because she does something out of line, and Raph doesn't know Felony well enough to know that she truly has no mal-intent, and the only reason she asked to stay in their household is because she escaped prison with Leo on a whim and has absolutely nowhere else to go.

WHEW, THAT WAS A LOT-

I hope that answers your questions though. And I also just realized that this reveals a good amount about the first part of the story, so WONDERFUL, THERE YA GO, YOU HAVE SOME SPOILERS MIXED IN TO GO WITH ALL OF THAT YAAAYYY
