Been getting really into unciv lately
The base game is fun but i saw a touhou mod and it hooked me way more. This is my second run, on challenging and playing as remi. Playing on a large 3 continent world with three of the civs set as me (remi), flan, and reimu. Coincidentally (fatefully) had just flan on the same continent. She had declared war on me twice, and this is about her tenth peace offering (and counting)
Was a bit worried since i saw she kinda specialized in military stuff but I've been able to hold my ground actually, conquered about half of her empire atm
The story so far is remilia's trying to get flan back by conquering her empire and hopefully eventually getting her to side with her (I've just been puppeting her cities, to simulate the idea that flan can do whatever despite technically being under remi). My religion is named flandrism for appeal
Also okina's super rude, picking off my small settlement i traveled the ocean for (it had a wonder and her empire was in fog of war next to it). When i got back to it it was razed too orz
I'm gonna maybe ask for reimu or cirno's help to get her, though i haven't checked if they were allied

Emergency 18+
chapter 56
you x iso
y/n: It might have been a little messy and unconvincing, but if it had been cinematics, it would have been cooler.

The cold damp of Facility Dolphin seeped into their bones, mingling with the smell of dust, old metal, and the faint ozone tang from the decoy servers Killjoy had whirring for authenticity. Emergency lamps cast long, leaping shadows on the concrete walls, turning the corridors into a labyrinth of light and gloom. The air vibrated not with generator noise, but with tense anticipation.
Iso stood by an improvised barricade of crates and old monitors, his fingers silently cycling the bolt of his rifle. His gaze, usually scanning the surroundings, kept being pulled towards Echo, pressed against the wall in the "laboratory" sector – a small room prepared for the act. She was pale, breathing slightly too fast. Her deep, irrational fear of fire, a remnant of Omega, warred with her iron will to see this through. Sage stood nearby, her hands relaxed but ready to flare with protective light at any moment. Yoru had dissolved into the shadows by the ventilation grate – his evacuation point. Killjoy sat at a fake console, fingers frozen over the keys, while Raze stood behind her chair like a coiled tiger, one jacket sleeve rolled up to reveal a remote detonator mod. Phoenix nervously tossed and caught a small fireball – a warm-up. Sova and Astra stood motionless by the far entrance; Astra’s eyes were closed, her fingers barely brushing shimmering "Astral Form" nodes hanging in the air.
A faint, high-pitched chime shattered the silence – like a crystal thread snapping. Astra opened her eyes, alarm flashing within them.
"They're here," - she whispered, her Astral Form nodes flaring an anxious crimson. - "Many. Powerful. And… hungry."
A second later, the sirens Killjoy had fabricated wailed, sounding terrifyingly real. Doors at both ends of the main corridor burst off their hinges under blows from Omega sappers. Darkness clad in exosuits poured in – Omega shock troopers, their sensor-helmeted heads scanning the space. Leading them: swift and lethal Omega Jett, her pulse knives already glowing blue. And behind her…
Omega Iso. His figure radiated inhuman focus. His eyes, hidden behind dark helmet glass, seemed to lock onto Echo instantly through the burgeoning chaos.
"CONTACT! SECTOR ALPHA!" - Iso yelled, opening controlled fire towards the invaders, deliberately avoiding lethal zones. The chaotic spectacle began. Gunfire, shouts (Sova commanded with feigned panic), explosions from Killjoy's specially weakened charges shattering decoy consoles and igniting flammable trim. Smoke began filling the corridor.
"Fall back! To the lab!" - Iso commanded, and the Alpha agents began an organized retreat towards the trap. Echo and Sage vanished into the room, the door slamming shut behind them – the signal.
"JETT! SHE'S THERE!" - roared Omega Iso, his voice distorted by comm static and inhuman hunger. He surged forward, bowling over his own soldiers, clearing a path with fists and rifle butt. Jett followed, her knives slicing through the smoke.
Inside the "laboratory," Echo stood trembling. Sage raised her hands: "Get ready!" Her barrier began forming – an invisible sphere within the room. Killjoy pressed a button on the tablet Raze held. Raze gave a sharp nod:
"Fire!"
Outside the room, right by the door, Killjoy's pyrotechnic charges detonated with a roar. Not a real explosion, but a blinding flash and a wave of heat that blew the door off its hinges and ignited the flammable special mixture coating the walls and floor. The room instantly erupted in fierce orange-red flame. Heat washed outwards even through the smoke.
"NOW, ECHO!" - Sage yelled over the fire's roar.
Echo squeezed her eyes shut, forcing down the terror. Her hand shot up, flaring with a blinding white ball of flame – a copy of Phoenix's Hot Hands (she'd learned to copy individual abilities without mimicking the wielder, but not flawlessly yet), unleashed in a single, uncontrolled burst of energy. She cried out – not part of the script, but from genuine terror triggered by the heat and flames around her. The scream cut through the battle noise.
Omega Iso burst through the doorway just then. He saw Echo, engulfed by blinding white flame from within and an orange inferno without. She looked like a figure made of fire, distorted by heat, her mouth open in a scream he couldn't hear over the flames. At that moment, Sage's barrier was only visible from inside – from outside, it looked like Echo was burning alive.
"NOOOOO!" - Omega Iso's roar was animalistic, filled with inexpressible rage, despair, and utter ruin. He took a step forward, towards the room's fiery maw, his hand reaching through the flames. - "I WON'T LET—!"
Clove grabbed him by the armor from behind, yanking him back forcefully.
"Are you insane?! She's charcoal already! We need BLOOD, not ash!" - Their voice was sharp, but held an edge of horror at the sight.
At that moment, Yoru, invisible in the corner of the room behind the veil of flame and smoke, pulled a lever. Ultra-dense smoke grenades, hidden in the ceiling and floor, exploded simultaneously, belching out an impenetrable white cloud that instantly filled the entire "laboratory" and billowed into the corridor. Visibility dropped to zero. Only the deafening roar of fire and the hiss of smoke remained.
Inside the smoke screen:
Sage instantly dropped the barrier. Yoru, shadow-quick, darted forward, scooping up Echo (who was coughing from smoke and shaking) carefully to avoid her burns. He leaped towards the floor where Raze had already flipped open the heavy lid of the hidden hatch. They vanished into the black hole.
Killjoy pressed the final button. A powerful directional charge at the base of the support column near the hatch detonated. With an earsplitting roar, the ceiling of the room collapsed, burying the hatch entrance and the "fire's" epicenter under tons of concrete and rebar.
Outside, in the corridor:
The smoke began to clear. Omega Jett and Omega Iso, coughing, stared at the ruins. Where fire had raged and Echo had been seconds before, now lay a pile of smoldering rubble. Flames still licked at some beams, but the room was destroyed, the entrance sealed solid.
"No… No, no, fuck!" - Omega Iso snarled, tearing off his helmet. His face was twisted with madness. He pounded his fists uselessly against the nearest wall, knuckles splitting and bleeding. - "She couldn't… I was supposed to…!"
Clove looked at the rubble with cold calculation.
"It's over, Iso. You saw it. She's gone. Only ash." - They keyed their comms. - "Target eliminated. Repeat, Echo sample destroyed in fire. Extracting."
Alpha's evacuation went like clockwork. While Omega reeled from
Echo's "death" and their Iso's fury, the Alpha agents retreated silently along pre-planned routes through vents and service tunnels. Sova activated several non-lethal proximity mines on their escape route – for confusion. Astra ran her hands along the walls at the exit, shimmering stardust erasing their thermal traces and scents. The last to leave were Raze and Killjoy – Raze practically carrying her partner, though Killjoy's face glowed with cold fury and satisfaction. They'd managed to launch the final fake signal package from Dolphin's transmitters: panicked messages about a "catastrophic fire," "sample loss," "situation critical."
Protocol Main Base.
The transport landed in tomb-like silence, broken only by engine hum. The hatch opened. Yoru emerged first, supporting Echo. She was covered in soot, trembling, but alive. Her eyes were wide with residual terror.
Iso froze for a moment, seeing her. Then he crossed the distance in two strides and, ignoring everyone else, crushed Echo to him. Not as a lover in a romantic gesture, but like a lost treasure miraculously returned from oblivion. His embrace was almost painful, the tremor in his arms betraying the hell he'd endured watching the act. He didn't speak a word, just held her, breathing into her hair. Echo buried her face in his shoulder, her trembling gradually subsiding.
Raze helped Killjoy down. The tech-genius immediately sat on the nearest crate and plugged her tablet into the base systems. Instantly, footage from an Omega soldier's helmet cam appeared on the main hangar screen. It showed the moment Omega Iso burst through the doorway and saw Echo in the flames. Then his roar of "NOOOOO!", his lunge forward, and finally – his face, twisted with absolute, impotent rage and despair as he stared at the ruins after the collapse. The camera jerked and went dark – likely, the soldier was neutralized.
The silence in the hangar deepened. Then came a collective sigh of profound relief. Plan Phoenix Shroud had worked.
At Dolphin: Omega soldiers scrabbled in the "laboratory" ruins. One found a charred scrap of fabric from Echo's coat, planted by Alpha. A quick scan confirmed: DNA match for Rho-7. Clove took the sample. Omega Iso stood apart, clenching his bloody fists, his gaze empty. He didn't believe. Refused to believe.
On Omega-Earth: Omega Viper received the report. Her face remained impassive, but her knuckles whitened where she gripped the edge of the table.
"Confirmed. Echo sample destroyed." - She paused, her icy gaze falling on Cypher. - "Activate Protocol Synthetic. Utilize the synthetic catalyst. The Pump must activate on schedule."
At Alpha Base: Iso finally loosened his embrace. He pulled back slightly to look at Echo. His thumb carefully wiped soot from her cheek. No words. Just that gesture and a deep, silent look of relief and a vow to protect her at any cost now. Echo gave him a weak smile, exhaustion and lingering fear still visible in her eyes, but also understanding – they had won this round. Killjoy rapped a knuckle on her tablet, drawing Brimstone's attention. Two words glowed on the screen: "THEY BELIEVED. PUMP - NEXT."
The price had been paid in nerves and fear, but Echo was alive, and Omega had lost their key. Now, they had to see what a synthetic spark could ignite in the heart of the Void. And prepare for the echoes of an explosion that never was.

Potential cw/tw: Mild Venting, Mild Distress
I should probably mod/build what my home in the end looked/felt like. The chorus forests were so lush and vibrant, it feels so bare to look at them now. There are hardly any trees, the ground is dry and pitted and dead. Jeanne isn't happy either. What caused this barren landscape? Who did this? Who destroyed our cities? Who took our wings? Who razed our homes to the ground...
#tiercel talks#theraender#enderman kin#i miss when the soft purple carpet of our forests was everywhere#it's lonely now#small wonder so many of us live in the warped forest

The third and final of the original crash survivors, Doctor Raith is a vampiric mad scientist lacking entirely in empathy for his subjects (or his comrades for that matter, many of whom he considers potential or current subjects). He runs the colony's research laboratory, containing all the manner of things: captured anomalous creatures brought on by the monolith just outside the colony, unethical experiments on prisoners, bionics and technology development, and an ever-growing library of xenogenes. Recently the lab has played host to the space program as the group prepares to finally leave this rock, but Raith has little interest in this, focusing instead on his living weapons program (more on that later) and anomalous curiosities, leaving the ship design up to fellow researchers Ash and Raze (to be introduced).
I drew his hair and lab coat and modded them in - for context, I designed the original three characters with character editor and then just let the game come up with everyone else naturally over time. Below are his lab and deathrest room! (probably the most villainous person in the playthrough - stay tuned for all the people he's messed with)

Here's an idea for a Rimworld mod that I've had in my head for years at this point and I'm honestly surprised hasn't been made yet and got popular. (That being said it's been a while since I played Rimworld so something like this might actually exist now.)
One of my biggest complaints with vanilla Rimworld is how static raids feel. For being arguably the biggest central threat of the game, they are shockingly repetitive and simplistic in how they function at their core. The goal with this mod idea is to re-do the system and give raids some much-needed mechanical depth. Whilst also making it more gamified so that it's more enjoyable overall.
Overhauled behaviour for how raiders flee: The mood for raiders is replaced by 'Morale' which, similarly to mood, is affected by a variety of factors depending on the current situation and is specific to every raider. If a raider's morale gets low enough to break the threshold of a minor mental break risk, then the raider will get a notable debuff as their nerves takes over. If morale breaks the threshold for a major mental break risk, then the raider will flee after a certain grace period. The morale, mental break thresholds and grace period before fleeing of any raider would be visible to the player. These stats would be affected by traits, faction type, status and thoughts that are entirely mechanically separate to the ones for mood. Some examples include the wimp trait giving a much smaller grace period and higher break thresholds for raiders, tribal raiders facing less morale penalties from other raiders dying (to compensate for their differing raid tactics), raiders with better stats and equipment gaining a morale boost and raiders gaining a massive morale penalty once roughly half of them have died (to emulate their current in-game behaviour for retreating).
Addition of Raid Intent: Each raid now has an intent that is shown alongside the raid message. This can range from general sabotage to going after a specific item/resource or simply wanting to kill every colonist present and raze the entire colony. These intents influence the behaviour of the raiders and their victory condition for the raid. If say the raid intent was to steal an item and they successfully stole it, then the entire raid will immediately retreat. What intent a raid is given is influenced by the faction type, faction relation and faction ideoligion. For example, pirates will almost always raid with the intent to steal or kidnap. Factions that you have a particularly bad relation with are more likely to raid you for the sake of sabotage or razing your colony. Factions with the high life meme will often target drugs. Factions with the loyalist meme will often target taking back prisoners/converts of their faction. Etc.
Raiders are less omnipotent: Raiders no longer have expert vision of the entire colony. Instead of beelining towards your pawns and buildings, they now approach the general area that your colony is in and will engage anything they can find. This means that with elaborate enough strategy and colony layout, it's possible to ambush a raid or completely avoid being found. Raiders going after a specific item will also search around your colony to find it instead of already knowing it's location (unless they got info about its whereabouts before the raid, but this opens up the possibility for you to dupe them instead). If it takes them too long, they might even give up the entire raid. The same is true for raids that try to kill/kidnap every colonist. If your pawns can simply avoid being found long enough then they might get away.
New types of raids: Technically already a feature in vanilla, these are slightly different versions of normal raids to make the playthrough a little more interesting. These unique raids include ransoms, where you can give the raiders something to avoid the raid. Drug raids by addicts, which only occur if you got the specific drug. Raids by a single person from a friendly faction, encouraging you to capture and release them for goodwill. And multi-pronged assaults consisting of multiple smaller raids in sequence. There are also some new raid types or events that directly encourage you to go on the offensive. This includes enemy caravans or unrelated raiders passing through your map alongside raiders that arrived too early and will call off their raid if you attack them prematurely.
More meaningful preparation and distinguished roles for raiders: Raiders will now actually make use of preparation time by discussing strategy and hyping each other up, giving them a major morale boost. If you instead ruin their preparation by attacking early and forcing an assault, the raiders are given a morale penalty that might have them call off the raid entirely. To expand this system even more, there are now additional roles for raiders to have that are designated and strategized during preparation time. This includes lone-wolf raiders that split-off and attack separately to pincer you (potentially even moving earlier than the rest of the raid), combat medics that focus on picking up and healing wounded raiders (giving them a major role with the raiders morale), and leaders that give a morale boost while present but a morale penalty when killed. Some end-game raids might even fill their number with mechanoids squads that operate independently and are always sent first.
