Resonate (my magical OCs)

Resonate, sometimes stylized as “Re:SON@Te,” is a group of 15 magical girl (and boy/enby) idols who are lifelong best friends.

The transforming catchphrase for everyone is “Whimsical Wonder Wave!”

They all transform with special perfume paint.

The story, Symphony Saga, begins when Amelie hears a forecast that her hometown, Speckle Town, will be destroyed by a meteor. While everyone else evacuates, Ame feels there must be a way to save her town so she goes and investigates. She ends up finding a book that tells a legend, if an idol group of fifteen friends performs a "legendary song" under the meteor as it falls, it will destroy the meteor and the town will be saved. So Ame, along with her two best friends, round up twelve other people to be an idol group of fifteen…

This group becomes Resonate. Each member has a story to them.

During the group's musical performance, they gain the ability to transform into magical girls! They successfully destroy the meteor. Now the adventure begins…

This story takes place in the magical world of Whimsica.

After they save Speckle Town, many other magical adventures await Resonate…

The Cozy House is an apartment complex that houses many of the characters. It’s also like a “town within a building.”

Their school, Adventure Academy, is a surreal, wacky school with 100 floors and is filled with adventure, monsters, dungeons, secret rooms, surprises, and fun…

Amelie Sugar | アメリー・シュガー | 佐藤飴

Color- Pink

Weapon- Giant magical paintbrush/broom, Whimsicalibur

Signature Attack- Vivid Fantasia

Catchphrase- Always believe! The power of dreams!

Age- 20

Gender- Demigirl (she/her) (they/them)

Amelie is optimistic, overly idealistic, ambitious, a dreamer, sometimes awkward, quite animated, a bit chaotic, and a bit dramatic.

She is best friends with shy elfin girl Yuki Aizaki and cheerful yet clumsy girl Joy Smiley.

Amelie Sugar is usually spelled in Japanese as アメリー・シュガー but “Ame Sugar” which is something of a stage name, is 佐藤飴 (Satou Ame, but pronounced Sugar Ame in this name.) The kanji for Satou mean “sugar” and Ame means “candy.”

She is bunny fauna, meaning part rabbit, and has bunny ears and a tail.

Her magical paintbrush weapon, Whimsicalibur is huge and colorful and can be ridden on like a witch’s broom. Ame can create magical objects by painting them to life with Whimsicalibur. It also shoots magical sparkle beams.

Lives in the Cozy House with her family.

Her character items are strawberries and cupcakes. Her favorite foods are these and also ramen and cheese and bubble tea.

A genki girl.

Somewhere between introvert and extrovert.

Lives with her mother and father, and also an erratic gremlin version of herself named Pastell.

Has a close friend named Anya, who is nonverbal.

Has two cats, Scout and Minnie.

Friends with the anthropomorphic bunnies Muffin and Merengue.

Ame has quite a huge appetite.

Ame likes to write and draw.

She is half black, half Korean.

Her height is 5 feet 0 inches.

Her birthday is February 4.

Yuki Aizaki | 藍崎雪

Color- White

Weapon- Color palette that’s a boomerang/shield, shoots color.

Signature Attack- Lyrical Snowstorm

Catchphrase- It will be okay! The power of hope!

Age- 22

Gender- Demgirl (she/her)

She is Kiri’s cousin. Yuki and Kiri met each other recently for the first time since childhood.

Yuki is gentle, sensitive, shy, a bit gloomy, yet hopeful, and a bit boyish in style. Deep down, she is courageous and heroic.

She is an elfen, meaning she has elf ears and nature-related magic.

Yuki’s magical powers are ice and snow related. They are hard to control at first.

A shy girl, dandere. She is introverted.

Yuki lives in the Cozy House. She recently moved there.

Yuki has family troubles.

Yuki loved her grandmother who passed away. Her name was Shiro. She was Kiri’s grandmother as well. Ever since the death of her grandmother, Yuki’s mom had been acting erratic. This is why Yuki ran away. Ame also was running away because she had a bad grade on her test. The two meet, and Ame invites Yuki to live in the Cozy House.

Yuki has a distant half-brother named Shimo. They share the same father. Their father, Gin, had Shimo from a previous marriage before divorcing and meeting Yuki’s mom. Then Gin divorced Yuki’s mom as well, and took Shimo with him. Yuki and Shimo never saw each other again, until…

Yuki’s mother is named Murasaki. Murasaki’s sister (also Kiri’s mom) is named Midori.

Has a beloved pet kitten named Snowbell who was originally a plush from her grandmother, but came to life when everyone gained magical powers.

Her favorite foods are flan, bubble tea, and spaghetti.

She is Ainu Japanese.

Her height is 5 feet 8 inches.

Her birthday is November 21.

Joy Smiley | ジョイ・スマイリー

Color- Red

Weapon- Magical giant color-changing crayon

Signature Attack- Blissful Jubilee

Catchphrase- Spread some joy! The power of smiles!

Age- 18

Gender- Female (she/her)

Joy is cheerful, clumsy, strange, dorky, childish, and has a dream to make everyone smile. She can also be a bit irritating, but she hates more than anything else to be called annoying.

An extrovert who loves parties.

Joy is a regular human.

Joy has two moms. They’re named Hope and Love. She still lives with them.

Loves animated movies and magical girl things.

Jokes a lot. Doesn’t take things seriously easily, which she is criticized for.

Her favorite food is chicken nuggets.

She is black.

Her height is 4 feet 9 inches.

Her birthday is April 6.

Yume Yozora | 夜空夢

Color- Purple

Weapon- Magical violin

Signature Attack- Nebula Vortex

Catchphrase- Endless possibilities! The power of wonder!

Age- 19

Gender- Female (she/her)

Yume is quiet, stoic, a bit sarcastic and snarky, silent a lot, a hardcore gamer girl, quite serious, music lover, and caring.

Yume is an android, a realistically humanoid alien robot. She also has cat ears and a tail. She was originally from a planet called Dissonance, where music is banned. Upon discovering music, she falls in love with it and gains a dream to be a musician.

Lives in the Cozy House.

A kuudere.

Has three siblings who are also androids, hyperactive Suzu, dorky Hikaru, and gentle giant Kanade.

Her favorite food is okonomiyaki.

Yume unexpectedly has a huge appetite. Basically a harapeko.

Yume is ambiguously Japanese.

Her height is 5 feet and 0 inches.

Her birthday is November 18.

Lanyue Fei | ランユエ・フェイ | 菲藍月

Color- Cobalt

Weapon- Magical guitar

Signature Attack- Final Crescendo

Catchphrase- Open your heart! The power of compassion!

Gender- Trans masculine (he/him) (they/them)

Lanyue is a dapper gentleman, soft-spoken, polite, mannered, generous, a music lover, a bit particular, fancy, and kind.

Lanyue is a cat fauna, meaning he has cat ears and a tail. He wears a monocle and always fancy menswear, usually a tailcoat.

Lanyue has bad vision, but in only one eye. Thus the monocle.

Lanyue has a long lost friend named Yuelan. Her name is inverse of Lanyue’s. She was the one who gave him the courage to pursue music.

People say Lanyue acts different around Juhong. He is normally soft-spoken, but he yells and has an attitude when Juhong is involved. It’s because they’re best friends…

Lanyue’s dad Jingyue is very classy. Jingyue is so classy that he wears two monocles instead of regular glasses.

His favorite foods are lasagna and blueberries.

Lanyue is Chinese, specifically Tibetan.

His height is 5 feet and 5 inches.

His birthday is November 20.

Juhong Cha | ジュホン・チャ | 차주홍

Color- Scarlet

Weapon- Magical portable floating keyboard

Signature Attack- Passionate Inferno

Catchphrase- Look forward to it! The power of excitement!

Age- 21

Gender- Demiboy (he/him) (they/them)

Juhong is wild, loud, chaotic, fun-loving, mischievous, obnoxious sometimes, love music, snarky, a bit of a troublemaker, but a good friend and listener, surprisingly introspective as well.

Juhong is a cat fauna, meaning he has cat ears and a tail. He is a guy, but dresses in elegant feminine fashion.

Yells a lot. Has a loud voice. Does a lot of chaotic antics, and drags Lanyue in.

He also likes to make up lies about himself, like that he was grown in a lab somewhere far away and was raised by wolves and whatnot.

Juhong is a an orphan.

His favorite foods are dumplings and kimchi.

Juhong is Korean.

His height is 5 feet and 2 inches.

His birthday is November 16.

Rhona Hydra | ハイドラ・ロウナ

Color- Blue

Weapon- Magical trident

Signature Attack- Roaring Tide

Catchphrase- Give it your all! The power of dedication!

Age- 22

Gender- Trans female (she/her)

Rhona loves the ocean, is stoic, quiet, calm under pressure, is mistaken for harsh and calculating. She is a very sweet person and is awkward around people. She has low self-esteem and a generally self-sacrificial nature.

Rhona is a descendant of the sea people from the lost underwater civilization of Nautica. She does not find out until later. This can explain her love of the ocean, ability to talk to sea creatures, gift in swimming, and feeling at home among the waves.

Has a whale shark friend named Quartz as her best sea creature friend. They met when they were both young children. Quartz was a whale shark stuck in a lagoon and Rhona helped free him to the ocean. One day years later, Rhona was out freediving when she ran out of oxygen. Quartz happened to be there to see her drowning, and pushed her to the surface. This is how they met again.

Has strict parents. Doesn’t live with them.

Her favorite food is tuna, and tuna sushi.

Rhona is black, specifically Caribbean.

Her height is 5 feet and 9 inches.

Her birthday is March 10.

Nagisa Onda | 音田なぎさ

Color- Magenta

Weapon- Magical trident that looks like a spork

Signature Attack- Blossom Windstorm

Catchphrase- Devote and share! The power of generosity!

Age- 20

Gender- Female (she/her)

Nagisa is shy, timid, cheerful, yet nervous a lot, emotional, but relaxed when with friends. She is very loyal and generous to those around her who have shown her kindness.

Had a friend named Amara who loved the ocean. Unfortunately, Amara died at sea, leaving Nagisa terrified of the ocean she also once loved. Meeting Rhona has rekindled her love for the ocean. Also, Amara still might be alive…

Nagisa is a normal human.

Nagisa lives on the second floor of a sushi restaurant run by her single mother, Alisa.

Her favorite food is sushi, specifically salmon.

Nagisa is half-Japanese, and half-Latina.

Her height is 5 feet and 3 inches.

Luana Kai | ルアナ・カイ

Color- Aqua

Weapon- Magical pirate sword

Signature Attack- Thunderous Crash

Catchphrase- There is no limit! The power of imagination!

Age- 21

Gender- Female (she/her)

Luana is chaotic, adventurous, brash, bold, a bit uncouth, a bit arrogant, but has a strong sense of justice and is a loyal friend and ally. She is generally accepting of everyone, and tends to stand up for those in need.

Luana is from a family of pirates, and she even lives on a docked ship in Speckle Town’s port. Her parents sometimes visit.

She has an older sister named Oliana.

She’s kind of dumb but she’s amazing at geography and also directions.

Her favorite food is takoyaki.

Luana is Polynesian, specifically Tongan.

Her height is 5 feet and 6 inches.

Her birthday is July 7.

Rie Hibiki | 響理恵

Color- Green

Weapon- Magical harp

Signature Attack- Harmonic Echoes

Catchphrase- Be yourself! The power of sincerity!

Age- 18

Gender- Female (she/her)

Rie is a bit pretentious, weird, obsessed with standing out, erratic, random, tomboyish, and tends to hide her emotions and weaknesses. She is a sweet girl but wants to appear tough.

Rie is a fox fauna, meaning she has fox ears and a tail.

She has three brothers, Yuuma and Touya who are older twin brothers, and younger brother Jun.

Rie lives with her parents. Her mom is named Chie.

She has a crush on a girl named Setsuna, who feels like the failure of her gifted family because she’s clumsy and “useless.” Rie often cheers up Setsuna by being silly.

Rie’s favorite food is meatloaf.

Rie is Japanese.

Her height is 5 feet and 4 inches,

Aya Hart | アヤ・ハート | 心彩

Color- Orange

Aya is cheerful, jumpy, sporty, energetic, adventurous, naive, and rarely in a bad mood.

Aya is part cryptid, and her true form comes out when she feels intense anger. This form has bird wings, a raccoon tail, glowing red eyes, horns, and fangs. Aya has learned to repress her anger so that she doesn’t become a cryptid, because disaster usually follows when she does. As a result, she has a lot of repressed emotions…

Lives on the outskirts of town in a small cursed trailer with her brother Aaron. She does not get good cell phone reception there, so she mostly uses her phone in school or in the town. Her area also has a lot of cryptid sightings and generally feels cursed. Out of all the characters, her house is the closest to Forsaken Woods. Aya and Aaron live without their parents.

She is friends with a talking snail named Sheldon who lives around her house.

Her favorite foods are ice cream and quiches.

Aya is part black, part white, and part Romani. She is Jewish and therefore eats Kosher foods.

Her height is 5 feet and 7 inches.

Sonata Coda | ソナタ・コーダ

Color- Black

Weapon- Magical electric bass

Signature Attack- Midnight Void

Catchphrase- Express your emotion! The power of honesty!

Age- 23

Gender- Female (she/her)

Sonata is pretentious, edgy, grumpy, and tends to hide her true feelings. She wants to be a mysterious shadow lord of the dark, but deep down she is just a vulnerable and shy person with lots of insecurities. Also, she can smile.

Well… she’s tsundere.

Sonata is a wolf fauna, meaning she has wolf ears and a tail.

She likes liminal places, and is fascinated by abandoned places, and where Aya lives.

Friends with a grumpy talking dog named Bagel.

Her favorite food is quesadillas, bubble tea, and black tea.

Sonata is Afro-Latina.

Her height is 5 feet and 7 inches.

Her birthday is November 17.

Saga Sun | サガ・サン | 순사가

Color- Yellow

Weapon- Magical frying pan

Signature Attack- Dazzling Sunshine

Catchphrase- I’ll never doubt you! The power of trust!

Age- 23

Gender- Trans female (she/her)

Saga is dependable, adventurous, mature, nurturing, a bit emotional, tough, and like a big sister figure or “mom friend.”

Saga is a bunny fauna, meaning she has bunny ears and a tail.

Her favorite food is macaroni and cheese. The cheap kind too. Generally has a childish taste in food.

She likes to cook, despite having a simple taste in stuff she eats.

Saga is Korean and French.

Her height is 5 feet and 11 inches.

Her birthday is November 23.

Kiri Takamori | 高森霧

Color- Teal

Weapon- Magical hammer that is also a microphone

Signature Attack- Towering Spiral

Catchphrase- Lend a hand! The power of kindness!

Age- 19

Gender- Non-binary female (she/her) (they/them)

She is Yuki’s cousin.

Kiri is cheerful, colorful, sweet, but not very intuitive, she tends to be a bit dense when it comes to other’s feelings. It’s never on purpose though.

Kiri is an elfen, meaning she has elf ears and nature related magic.

Kiri has plant and forest related magic.

Kiri has a bunny friend named Flurry who came to life. Flurry was originally a plush given to her by her and Yuki’s deceased grandmother.

Popular and has the most experience being an idol. She struggles from the pressure.

Lives with her mother Midori and her father Aosuke.

Her favorite food is ramen.

Kiri is Ainu Japanese.

Her height is 4 feet and 11 inches.

Her birthday is May 30.

Chija Song | チジャ・ソン | 송치자

Color- Sky

Weapon- Magical scythe

Signature Attack- Moonlight Mirage

Catchphrase- Always by your side! The power of loyalty!

Age- 20

Gender- Female (she/her)

Chija is mysterious, quiet, kind, somewhat stoic, doesn’t speak much or show much emotion at first, unless it’s to her best friend Aya.

Chija is a phantom, meaning she is part ghost. She has a pair of horns on her head.

She lives in a haunted mansion with two siblings, Isuel and Jumin.

Has a single mother.

Kind of a kuudere. She is silent but very in touch with emotions.

Her favorite foods are milk tea and spicy udon. Tolerates spiciness well. In fact, she loves it.

Chija is Korean.

Her height is 5 feet and 1 inch.

Her birthday is January 13.

Amelie Sugar is my self-insert. She is also an UTAU and possibly upcoming Vtuber.

I have also made UTAU voices for Rhona, Nagisa, Luana, Joy, and Rie by editing my/Ame’s voice. They’re imperfect for now.

Symphony Saga was originally a Vocaloid/UTAU fanfiction.

A lot of these characters are based on my interpretation of Vocaloid and UTAU characters. These characters have no canon, and their personalities are up to interpretation. I decided to make my personal interpretations into OCs, because it feels much more fulfilling. It’ll finally be canon, in a way. Because they’re their own characters.

Yuki Aizaki is based on Yowane Haku and replaced her original role in this story. You could also imagine her to have Yowane Haku’s voice, since that’s now her voice claim.

Kiri Takamori is based on Hatsune Miku and has her as a voice claim.

Yume Yozora is based on Utane Uta and has her as a voice claim.

Lanyue Fei is based on Soune Taya and has him as a voice claim.

Juhong Cha is based on Namine Ritsu and has him as a voice claim.

Aya Hart is based on Kasane Teto and has her as a voice claim.

Sonata Coda replaced Yokune Ruko in this story, though she is drastically a different character. Her voice claim is still Ruko though.

Chija Song replaced Momone Momo in this story, though she is drastically a different character. Her voice claim is still Momo though.

Saga Sun replaced Fuuga Koto in this story. She still shares some similarities. Her voice claim is still Koto.

Aside from Ame Sugar actually being my UTAU, sometimes her voice claim is Asane Bou.

Yuki’s voice claim is sometimes Gekiyaku.

Kiri’s voice claim is sometimes Yamine Renri.

Rhona’s voice claim is sometimes Kohaku Merry.

Luana’s voice claim is sometimes Anna Nyui.

Joy’s voice claim is sometimes Haruka Nana.

Nagisa’s voice claim is sometimes Sekka Yufu.

Rie’s voice claim is sometimes Matsudappoine.

I chose the name Yuki 雪 for her because aside from meaning snow, her kanji has the kanji radical for “rain” in it, 雨, one of the ways Ame translates to Japanese. Also her half-brother’s name is Shimo 霜 meaning frost, her cousin is Kiri 霧 meaning drizzle, and Kiri’s little sister is Kasumi 霞 meaning mist. Did you notice that all those kanji look similar because of the 雨 being in it?

Yuki’s mother Murasaki has a name meaning purple. Kiri’s mother Midori has a name meaning green. Shiro means white, Gin means silver, and Ao in Aosuke means blue.

The reason why many Resonate members’ birthdays are in late November is because in real life, November 16-23 is something called Rainbow Week for me. It’s a made-up special time for me for a few reasons. In the world of Whimsica, Rainbow Week is also a special time. Being born during Rainbow Week is regarded as special…

New outline in progress for a new story about the group of UTAUs I use

It will be called Re:SON@TE. It’s based on The Idolmaster anime but it’s like.. fantasy and takes place in whimsica. Also it will generally be a LOT less convoluted than my usual stuff, thank goodness. I raise my expeditions MUCH too high usually, thus why I NEVER get things done.

I may or may not be abandoning Symphony Saga for this for now. I stole a lot of scenes and concepts from it…

Pilot episode. A (somewhat) regular day for everyone.

The story starts as 18-year-old Amelie Sugar, nicknamed Ame, has a blurry dream that gives her tons of joy and thrill. She forgets the details, but it involves her on a stage. Ame shrugs it off, thinking the stage isn’t the place for her.

It’s the weekend, so Ame calls up her friend Haku Yowane, age 20, and they go to the mall. At the mall, they see Ame’s other friend, Joy Smiley, age 16. Joy and Haku end up getting to know each other through Ame. A new karaoke booth had opened up at the mall. Ame passes by, and momentarily gets the joyful, thrilling feeling from her dream, but it fades away before she realizes it. Joy and Haku want to try to sing group karaoke with Ame, but Ame chickens out and hazily leads her friends somewhere else.

Later that day, Haku wanders back to the karaoke booth by herself. She realizes she’s also a bit scared to sing when Ame isn’t there with her. But luckily, she sees her cousin Miku, age 18, hanging around there. Haku and Miku end up singing a duet as nobody watches.

Taya Soune and Ritsu Namine, both 18, are aquatinted. They are not too close despite knowing each other for a year, but Ritsu wants to get to know Taya better. Ritsu is wild and loud, while Taya is gentle and soft-spoken. Ritsu notices Taya always seems lonely and tends to hide his feelings. One day Ritsu is out in the park being weird when he accidentally angers a flock of birds. They begin chasing after him, but luckily, Taya is there. In the urgent situation, Taya starts singing to calm the birds down. He has a wonderful voice, and the birds go from attacking Ritsu, to lovingly flocking around Taya and landing on his arms. Ritsu asks Taya why he doesn’t sing despite having such a talent.

“I don’t sing.” Taya responds. “Not anymore.”

When Ritsu asks why, Taya says he doesn’t want to talk about it.

“Taya?” Ritsu says kindly. “Please tell me. Maybe I can help. I want to be able to help. I want to be your friend.”

Unexpectedly, Taya begins crying and confesses he had only been in the Kingdom of Symfonia for a year and didn’t want a new friend because he lost his best friend Saya in an earthquake back when he lived in Senritsu. Since then, he had to move to a whole new Kingdom, and didn’t want to make new friends in fear of losing them too. Taya was so traumatized by all this that he decided to stop singing.

Ritsu hugs Taya and takes him somewhere more secluded where he can cry on his shoulder. Afterwards, they decide to go somewhere the two can bond and cheer up.

A music studio. Ritsu doesn’t force Taya to sing, but waits for him to open back up at his own pace. When he does, Taya realizes how much he still loves music and how much he missed it, and how it can still connect him to his friend Saya.

Uta Utane, age 18, is a bit of a loner. She is a hardcore girl gamer, amateur computer-music producer, and internet addict. She knows Japanese fluently and interacts with overseas game and music communities all the time. Internet circles have affectionately nicknamed her “Defoko,” meaning “default girl,” due to her faithful devotion to mastering playing strategies with the default characters and skins in five of her favorite video games. Uta is in her natural habitat on the web. But offline, she’s as shy and awkward as a wilting flower.

Uta is introduced and her daily life is shown. At school, she has trouble speaking with people. Her classmates Teto and Momo have shown to be a bit intimidated by her, wrongly reading her as “cold.” Ritsu gets the impression she is cool, but just a bit stuck-up. And mysterious.

On the computer, Uta has composed and arranged songs before, but has never sung them herself...

Oh and one more thing. Uta is also a robot…

Rhona Aequor, age 20, is a gifted and athletic swimmer who is often seen at the pool using masterful swimming technique and speed. However, she is not part of any swim team. She does scuba diving as a hobby. She is often misunderstood as stoic and severe, and even rough. Rhona is actually very sweet, humble, and even a bit shy. She secretly likes to sing and imagine herself being an idol. Rhona’s parents disapprove of idols, thinking they are “self-obsessed airheads.”

Rhona’s chaotic friend Luana is… quite unpredictable. She’s impulsive and brash but actually a very dependable friend. 19-year old Luana likes attention. But Rhona is afraid to ask her about her opinion on idols, because Luana usually likes more adventurous things than that, like being a pirate or explorer.

Rhona and Luana are at the community pool. Rhona is swimming laps, and Luana is doing some weird dance. There is a girl at the side of the pool who is drawing something in a sketchbook. During Rhona’s break, Luana is dancing around recklessly and accidentally splashes the girl drawing in the book. Luana doesn’t notice, and Rhona apologizes for her friend’s reckless behavior. She then notices the drawings in the sketchbook are really beautiful and feels bad they got ruined. Rhona brings Luana over to formally apologize. The girl turns red and confesses she was drawing Rhona as she swam laps, but also Luana as she was dancing…

“You have such a graceful form, I couldn’t help it…” The girl says to Rhona, shyly.

“And you… you have such a bright presence…” She says to Luana.

Rhona thanks the girl, but feels too flattered to respond further.

“Aw, it’s nothing!” Luana says. “Why don’t you get in the pool with us? You might discover your charm too!” Luana answers back. “What’s your name anyway?”

“I’m Nagisa…” The girl answers. She is 19, the same age as Luana.

“Well, I’m Luana! And that’s Rhona. Don’t worry, we don’t bite! Not normally. Harhar!”

“…Cool.” Nagisa says. She gets in the pool with the two and confesses she loves idols but doesn’t feel she can be one. Rhona confesses the same back.

“What!? You’ve never told that to me.” Luana says. “Hm… maybe I could give you guys pointers then. You know, my mom used to be an idol.”

“…WHAAAAT!?” Rhona and Nagisa are surprised.

Momo and Teto have been best friends since 4th grade. Teto is now 17, and Momo is now 18. They are very close, and together they are in cooking club. Teto is a cheerful girl, and so is Momo. However, Momo can be insecure and a bit shy, while Teto can be a bit more brash with a temper. But Teto is always there to defend Momo. Momo also is learning a few magic spells. She notoriously has a spell where she can detach her head from her body. It freaks people out.

Teto has a bit of a curse to her. When she is angry, she transforms into a demonic form where she grows bat wings, a tail, her magenta hair becomes crimson and drill-like, and her voice becomes dissonant. This is her chimera form, and it is shrouded in mystery.

Teto and Momo also both have older brothers who are around the same age. Teto’s older brother is Ted. Momo’s older brother is Momotaro.

Teto and Momo have class with Uta, and then after school they have club with Rie, and have a sleepover.

Ritsu’s close friend is Ruko. Ruko is 18 years old and they are very tall, standing at 6 foot 4. They are also non-binary—not quite male or female. Ritsu is similar, though he goes by he/him pronouns (and presents feminine and dresses in feminine clothes.)

Ritsu introduces Taya to Ruko after Taya cheers up, and the three talk and become friends. Ritsu finds out that Taya is trans-masculine and non-binary as well.

They also talk about music, which they all love.

Rie is 17, and she is weird. She wants to be the quintessential eccentric oddball, and tries too hard at it. She calls people bobolinks (an “obscure bird”) when she is mad, and she only reads books with the letter W in the title. She refuses to watch anything with romance in it. She breakdances underwater. She skateboards to the bathroom. But no matter how hard she tries, nobody thinks Rie is weird or unique! It drives her up the half-pipe!

One day, Rie makes friends with Koto, a girl who is totally flawlessly the quintessential eccentric oddball! So Rie asks Koto to teach her “the ways.” Koto is a feral gremlin who loves birds (including bobolinks,) and is like a walking encyclopedia of bird knowledge. Koto also has a pet toucan named Mango.

In the matter of a couple of days, the lives of these fifteen youths will unexpectedly unite, intertwine, and merge, in a unique, fateful way…

Amelie, nicknamed Ame, hears a forecast that changes her life. In ten days, her town on the East Coast of the Kingdom of Symfonia will be destroyed by a meteor that’s about to land at midnight on the 10th of June. Everyone is advised to evacuate and relocate as quickly as they can, but Ame loves her home so much that she never wants to leave it. She goes to the library and learns she may be able to do something to destroy the meteor, but she has to be determined and only has a sliver of a chance... Legend has it, that a group performs a legendary song from the heart, it can move a mountain, or also destroy a meteor. But Ame doesn’t have experience with music. But she remembers the dream she had when she was little, to be an idol. She gave up on the dream, but this is her perfect time to realize it again.

So Ame, Haku, and Joy decide to recruit people who are willing to join them to fulfill Ame’s outlandish goal she believes in.

Haku and Joy are willing to help Ame, because they believe in the dream.

The three visit all the classrooms at school and Ame presents her idea. Everyone reacts like Ame is completely nuts, but after school, a few people come forth and confess they want to try and help her.

Taya has always wanted to do something big. And Ritsu, who is also ambitious and wants to help, thinks this opportunity is just what Taya needs.

Rhona wants to join due to her sense of justice, and also because she wants an excuse to pursue music and feel like a shining star. Luana joins in as well, because this is something adventurous, and she wants to be like a hero.

Uta wants to help as well, because she feels the group might need her knowledge and skill. This pushes a nerve on Teto, who remarks that Uta has never sang before.

Teto and Momo join to help the group because they love their town.

Miku joins because she is a budding school idol already, and has the most experience. She is also Haku’s cousin.

Ruko joins because beneath her rough edges, she is very courageous.

Nagisa joins the group because she seeks camaraderie and to be a part of something big.

Koto joins the group because she loves her town, and she is also a thrill-seeker.

Rie joins the group because she is a thrill-seeker as well, and is kind of nuts, just like Ame.

Ame has fourteen other people on her side. Everyone bands together to save the town… as an idol group, with music!

The group starts on their legendary song. They decide it will also be a performance streamed on the internet. The group visits various places for inspiration, look at other idols’ performances, and swap music knowledge. Everyone finally starts to form a found family. After a day of friendship, they decide to call their group Resonate. But who will be the leader…?

Along with being idols, it comes to Resonate’s attention that they will to compose their own song—a legendary song.

Uta has composed full songs before, so she decides so take the task. Taya, Ritsu, Ruko, and Koto play instruments and have made compositions. However, Ame wants to help, despite having no music theory knowlege…

The song will have to have lyrics.

Haku writes poetry and wants to help with lyrics. Nagisa helps too, as she has an artistic passion. The group finds Rhona has a secret passion for writing poetry as well. This embarrasses Rhona. Ame also wants to help with lyrics.

Resonate will also have to have outfits. For now, they decide they don’t have time for designing anything, so they decide just to wear “their best clothes…”

The group will have to have stage lighting and a place to perform. The huge meteor will be falling to the center of town, and the town will be evacuated by then. They decide to perform at the town’s center.

At the end of the episode, the lyrics and melody are finished being written.

Resonate is still arguing over the leader. They practice singing, dancing, and toil over the song more. Everyone’s strengths and weaknesses are revealed. Tensions rise a bit as tasks prove tough. The cannot settle on a single vibe, since everyone is so different. But they find a way to meld everyone’s hearts in a way that kind of works! At the end of this episode, the group has a fully composed song with choreography.

Now that their song is finished, the group has a day of outings and strict performance practice as a group. They rehearse the song over and over…

For their first big move, they spontaneously perform their song to a small random audience at a karaoke bar, only to lose their composure and get laughed at…

This is a sadder episode where everyone’s insecurities come forth and spirits are almost broken… Has Resonate aimed too high? The group can’t even stop bickering when it all comes to it.

Things look a bit bleak now. Members cry on each other’s shoulders.

Resonate has stayed behind while everyone else evacuated the town. They can’t abandon hope now. But does everyone have the hope within them to keep trying?

Resonate ends up believing in themselves and realize through this journey, they all met each other and became family. They don’t need a leader, as everyone is equally important. The power of hope and determination gives Resonate the power to transform into magical girls with magic to destroy the meteor! With transforming also comes amazing original outfits too!

Haku’s stuffed cat Snowbell comes to life as well!

Now in their new magical forms, Resonate looks fabulous, and performs the song they made with all their heart and hope. Their sound rises up to shatter the huge rock! Fine shards of gem and sparkly particles of moon dust rain down. Resonate has saved their town.

A fun “break episode” about Resonate at their weird college/high school campus, where they’re being hailed as heroes.

It’s the last day at school before summer vacation. Ame, Haku, Rhona, Uta, Joy, and Koto miss the normal school bus home and have to ride the Tragic School Bus home instead. Ritsu also transforms into a Squirtle at one point.

A casual rainy early-summer day. Rie, Rhona, Momo, and Teto chill at Uta’s house with Uta. They meet Uta’s three siblings, who are also robots. They create memes and look at news footage of their heroic actions…

Unexpectedly, a talent agent picks up the music group, Resonate. The group’s name becomes stylized as “Re:SON@Te.”

The people at the talent agency (556 Pro, pronounced “Kokoro Pro”) become the producer and staff! Producer-P, their new talent agent, is a kind and humble man. Hyuna is his energetic assistant and an office clerk. Octavia is a vivacious vocal coach and counselor who is shrouded in mystery. Could she have been an idol herself in the past…?

Azalea is another vocal coach, who seems a bit moody and aloof. Miri, who is a bit soft-spoken, and the mischievous Enzo, are dance coaches.

Re:SON@Te gets used to living large, and being part of a professional recording label. Joy and Miku, who are hardcore idol fans, meet a few of their favorite idols, who are also associated with 556 Pro! Uta is a closeted idol fan. Momo, Haku, and Ame are casual idol fans. Ame is mostly a fan of 765 Pro’s idols. They meet Luka Megurine, Rin and Len Kagamine, Kaito, Meiko, Gumi, and Gakupo.

The cruise ship fun episode. All of Re:SON@Te is invited to perform on a cruise ship! They also see idols from Love Live! School Idol Project. They all are associated with 087 Pro (Ohana Pro.) Ohana means family. In Hawaiian.

The group performs on the cruise ship. But right after their performance, the cruise ship begins to rapidly sink. Everyone evacuates the ship, but not everyone makes it out alive. By an unfortunate twist of fate, the seven people left behind on the ship are Producer-P, Hyuna, Amelie, Luana, Nagisa, Taya, and Ritsu. But they are still alive! Only the ship is stranded upside-down on the seafloor... Based on the Pokémon episode “Pokémon Shipwreck.”

Producer-P, Hyuna, Amelie, Luana, Nagisa, Taya, and Ritsu get lost on a deserted island after the sunken ship ordeal. On the island, they find 15 strange creatures that each resemble the members of Resonate, but are chibi. (Based on Puchimas.)

The chibi Ame loves sweets and has exaggerated facial expressions.

The chibi Haku sulks a lot and is clingy, and loves cuddles.

The chibi Joy likes to dance and cheer, and is very clumsy.

The chibi Miku loves attention, and is a bit haughty.

The chibi Taya loves fancy clothes and items. He is a bit shy.

The chibi Ritsu is aggressive and loves weird items.

The chibi Uta is a loner and has a reserved personality.

The chibi Rhona loves water and gets along with sea animals.

The chibi Luana pretends to be a pirate and loves sailing.

The chibi Nagisa loves to draw and likes pretty things.

The chibi Ruko can grow in height and is reckless.

The chibi Rie is always doing something strange and is quite stupid.

The chibi Koto can mimic any bird call and loves birds.

But in the end, it turns out the “deserted island” was actually just the weird part of the local beach and they weren’t actually lost at sea. The members promise to go back to the beach to play with the Puchi Idols again sometime.

Vacation to Cancun! Weird stuff happens at night, like the Flying Cash Cab and hot dogs in the pool.

The hotel turns magical at night,

The plane ride, which normally would stress out Nagisa, who has a fear of planes, is turned fun and exciting thanks to her friends.

The characters they meet the members of 765 Pro there at the resort! The 765 Pro members are all aged up by one year to show that this is after the events of their own story. The group meets the Ojamajo Doremi characters too, for some reason.

There is a part where the characters go snorkeling.

The beach episode… with evil villains! Re:SON@Te’s huge fantastic supreme Idol beach party in Cancun with some members of 556 Pro, 765 Pro, 346 Pro, 315 Pro, 876 Pro, 283 Pro, 087 Pro, AND the little Puchi Idols is ruined by just five wacky villains!

They are Jessie, James, their talking Meowth, an edgelord hedgehog named Shadow, Dr. Eggman, and Heinz Doofenshmirtz. Re:SON@Te and others transform into magical girls to fight them and their robots…

Re:SON@Te is now in Bermuda. Amelie, Haku, Teto, Uta, Taya, Rhona, Luana, and Ritsu compete on a wacky game show there to promote 556 Pro. They are competing against members of 346 Pro. (Idolmaster Cinderella Girls.) The game show includes Truth or Dare, Two Truths and a Lie, a rap battle, a trivia section, a maze, and a cooking contest!

For some reason, Toca Life Stories characters are here, along with Phineas and Ferb.

Re:SON@Te and the staff turn into Pokémon for a day and find themselves lost in a strange world! (Pokémon Mystery Dungeon crossover.)

They decide to just go somewhere for now… and end up becoming an exploration team, and joining a crazy guild with an even crazier guildmaster… a very friendly and eccentric Wigglytuff!

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon crossover part 2. They have found a way to get back home. But does this mean saying goodbye to their friends at the guild?

Taya gets the feeling that his childhood friend Saya, who was lost in an earthquake years ago, could still be alive. Saya’s full name was “Saya Toune.” Her name was very similar to “Taya Soune!” When they first met, they were surprised at how their names were so alike, and bonded from there. Back when Taya lived in the Kingdom of Senritsu, an earthquake hit and everyone had to evacuate quickly before a tsunami came. Taya, who had Saya’s phone number, never heard from Saya again. So Taya assumes that Saya had succumbed to the earthquake and/or tsunami. But perhaps that wasn’t the case! Maybe Saya’s phone broke, or perhaps it was another reason! So Taya decides to write a song dedicated to Saya in order to search for her... Meanwhile, this inspires Haku decide to search for her long-lost brother, Dell.

Taya’s search for Saya is successful! They reunite at the airport.

Taya also reunites with two other friends he had in his old town. Their names are Imoko and Mon, both age 20. They went to Taya’s old high school and graduated two years before him. The three were a local, non-famous idol group in their old school before Imoko and Mon graduated. Since they both wrote glasses and Taya wears a monocle, they called themselves “2 And A Half Glasses.”

Imoko and Mon suggest that 2 1/2 Glasses should reunite and become famous this time… but does this mean that Taya has to divide his time between Resonate and 2 1/2 Glasses?

Meanwhile, even through Taya is thrilled to see Saya again, Saya expresses she feels Taya has changed a lot. “Maybe too much,” she adds. Taya is trans-masculine. Since the last time the two were living peacefully in Senritsu, Taya had began dressing in men’s clothes and expressing his masculine identity on the outside. It made him feel much more confident, and Taya had also grown more resilient, to the point where Saya didn’t have to look after him nearly as much anymore.

Taya tries to explain to Saya that he is still the same Taya deep down, and that Saya’s comment made him feel hurt…

Saya truthfully felt nostalgic about the days where Taya was still a bud, but seeing Taya in full bloom was the most beautiful sight to her. “It’s just that I wish I could’ve been there to watch you blossom.” Saya expresses this to Taya and apologizes to him.

Taya accepts Saya’s apology, and they continue to be friends.

Meanwhile, Haku still hasn’t found her brother Dell yet…

Haku is out on the street and sees her face on a T-shirt! There are also fashion dolls of Re:SON@Te members at toy stores, and even cheese crackers shaped like them! There is Re:SON@Te fanfiction on the internet! Even memes! Re:SON@Te is famous! This causes drama to abound…

Taya and Ritsu are at a diner in a lively city when they get into a huge fight over a piece of fanart on the internet that depicted them kissing. Taya doesn’t want to return to the same hotel as Ritsu so he takes a bus to a hotel on the other side of town. But on the other side of town, Taya gets into a fight with an evil wizard who transforms him into a penguin. The next day, Ritsu finds the stray penguin injured on the street and doesn’t realize it’s actually Taya! He has an adventure with the penguin trying to get it to a wildlife center. Once the penguin finds a good home, Ritsu kisses it on the forehead to say goodbye. The kiss breaks the spell that the evil wizard cast, and the penguin is transformed back into Taya! Now Taya realizes how caring Ritsu is and forgives him, kissing him on the cheek back. But wait… that’s almost just like the kiss fanart that caused this whole ordeal in the first place! Perhaps truth is stranger than fanart…

Re:SON@Te has a fan meet where they announce an upcoming super-concert! But then, they meet another group from the with a similar background… They are from the West Coast of the Kingdom of Symfonia, and they declare there can only be one group like them. They are associated with 961 Pro (Kuroi Pro), an agency who are known for playing dirty in the business. Re:SON@Te becomes rivals with this deranged group. They are called Blissful Manslaughter.

At first, Joy thinks that “Blissful Man’s Laughter” is the most wonderful and uplifting name ever! Then Rhona says “I hate to break it to you, but that word actually is “Man Slaughter.”

Finally, it turns out that Haku’s long lost brother Dell Honne is a part of this rivaling group.

The group is made up of Dell, Cider, Lady Parsec, Spencer AL2, and Dandy 704 (the “704” apparently can be pronounced “Naoshi.”)

Haku tries talking to Dell and finds out that he’s become very rude and distant, unlike the gentle and playful Dell she remembers from her childhood. As the day goes on, Haku realizes Dell is actually evil…!

Dell is ALSO part of Discord—an evil organization who creates robots—the same organization who attacked in episode 18. This group also created Uta, before Uta rebelled and became good. This story is about to become a whole lot more confusing, and the clouds are about to lift over Uta and her siblings’ mysterious past…

It turns out Dell and Haku’s father may be the ultimate enemy of the story…

Haku knows deep down that Dell isn’t truly evil like their dad…

Margot Nocturne, an overdramatic lady who faced a lot of failure in her life, (and also happens to be an admirer of Taya,) randomly auditions for 556 Pro and gets rejected to join the agency by Producer-P, saying her audition was spontaneous, came at a bad time, and was also “uninspiring and clumsy,” among other things. Margot is crushed by this. But then the President of 961 Pro sees the negative, spiteful aura flowing from her during her sorrow, and decides she would be a perfect addition for their group Blissful Manslaughter. When Margot finds out that 961’s plan is to target and bring down 556 Pro and Re:SON@Te, she is delighted to be able to get her revenge on the agency that rejected her. The person she will take out the most of her bitterness on? It will be Ritsu, who is closest to Taya.

More drama! Insecure Margot takes out her insecurity by picking on and sabotaging Re:SON@Te, especially Ritsu.

Something about Taya’s anemia and an emergency where he has to be hospitalized… Margot also makes it all worse. Resonate talks some sense into Margot, and she learns some perspective. She now wants to apologize, but can’t, because she knows Re:SON@Te will not accept it.

At the end of the episode, Margot discovers that 961 Pro’s true intentions are much more violent and evil than she had fathomed, and defects from the agency, feeling horrible for everything she did, and that she helped a real enemy. She feels it’s too late to redeem herself and undo the harm she’s done.

Margot meets Catina and Pierce during a low time in her life… Surprisingly, they understand her.

Meanwhile, angst. Dell’s backstory is revealed.

Haku and Dell once grew up together. But when Haku was 6 and Dell was 8 years old, their parents got divorced. Haku was left behind with their mother, and Dell was taken away with their abusive father.

Dell liked singing and wanted to be an idol, but whenever he would sing, his father would punish him and brainwash him to be an emotionless robot.

But eventually, Dell’s father realized Dell could become more powerful if they could utilize music as a brainwashing tool… and thus, 961 Pro was taken over and Blissful Manslaughter was born to help Discord conquer the world.

Margot discovers she has a brain tumor. It happens to be a kind of tumor that grows inside of people who have a lot of negative energy. If not removed, it will eventually consume the host and kill them. But if the tumor is removed, there is a chance for it to rupture and place a curse the people the host held a grudge on, killing them.

If Margot gets the tumor removed, Ritsu could die.

Margot feels she doesn’t deserve to have her tumor removed, because Ritsu could die. Margot feels Ritsu is a better person than her and deserves to live more.

Margot decides to keep the existence of her tumor a secret.

Catina and Pierce notice Margot has been acting weird and find out about the tumor through discreet means, and notify Resonate. At this point, Margot has collapsed and is minutes away from being consumed by shadows. Re:SON@Te transforms into magical girls and all try to use purifying powers to save her. It works, and it’s an emotional moment.

However, the next day, everyone ends up with a cold, because using healing magic damages the user. Since Re:SON@Te is a big group, damage spread out between them and became mild. But since Taya’s body is still weak from his anemic episode, he comes down with pneumonia…

The cold starts spreading around.

Haku is sick with a fever, so the “dream theater” in her subconscious is going haywire.

The school building comes to life and starts chasing everyone!

Then Haku starts visiting other random idols’ dreams.

In Iku Nakatani’s dream, she and Risa Matoba are arguing over whose dad is cooler. Iku says “My dad knows guerrilla warfare!” and then Risa says “Well, MY dad is an actual gorilla!”

Risa’s dad appears and he is a zebra instead. Haku comments on it, but everyone just says “That’s your problem.”

In Ame’s dream, she and Nagisa are in a swimming pool pretending to be Kaoru Sakuraba. They are acting edgy while doing surgery on a grape. Phineas and Ferb skateboard by on top of the water, leaving a trail of hot dogs behind them in the pool. The hot dogs now have soggy bread. Kyouji randomly swims by, stops when he sees the hot dogs, nonchalantly eats one, and casually swims away. Haku watches the entire scene, bewildered.

“Kyouji just does that sometimes.” Ame says. “He loves hot sogs.”

“Hot sogs… sounds disgusting.” Haku says back to Ame.

“Indeedee.” Ame says.

In Buford’s dream (from Phineas and Ferb) Haku goes to space in the Magic School Bus and go to Jupiter, where Touma and Hokuto are. They yeeted Shouta out and replaced him with Buford.

Jupiter has a concert (the group but also the planet,) and performs Baby Shark, but it’s the violent graphic gruesome version that kids sing at summer camp instead. Buford has a blast.

In Shouta’s dream, he is abandoned on Pluto because Touma and Hokuto kicked him out of Jupiter and replaced him with Buford. There is nothing on Pluto, except for an abandoned Home Depot, and some cheese, and Shiki Ichinose’s secret toilet. Oh, and Dandy 704 is also there for some reason. Haku also appears too.

Dandy 704 says “It’s not too bad. There could be sting rays.”

Rhona suddenly appears in scuba gear and says “Sting rays? Where?”

In Margot’s dream, she goes to see a new idol group called Pluto. Haku appears and accompanies her. The group is made up of Shouta, Dandy 704, Rhona, Shiki’s toilet, and Baljeet from Phineas and Ferb. They sing a cover of Bring me to Life by Evanescence. At one point, Baljeet yells “Toilet solo, come on!” Shiki’s toilet does a solo and flushes.

In Michio’s dream, he is in an abandoned Chuck E. Cheese in Eeby Deeby. He is armed with nothing but a frying pan. The animatronic animals are creeping him out. There is also Mecha Chihaya. Michio then has to fight Mecha Chihaya and the animatronics with his frying pan. Haku appears and assists him. The animatronics are surrounding Michio while singing Ohayou Asagohan, which is a song about breakfast. Then, the bots magically turn the frying pan big and start to pour robot oil on it, and start to fry Michio for breakfast!

Michio wakes up in terror to the sound of something sizzling. It turns out it’s just Jirou and Rui cooking breakfast in bed for him to surprise him! Michio is sick with a cold, so Jirou and Rui are taking care of him. Michio goes from terrified, to comforted in a matter of seconds.

After all the sick idols recover, they mention they had strange dreams, and they all somehow had Haku in them.

Random filler with a bunch of other idols. They talk about how Project Fairy and Jupiter used to be a part of 961 Pro before defecting out of anger and spite of the agency.

Meanwhile, Margot, with a new grasp on life, decides to redeem herself. So she starts the modest job of working at Denny’s in the meantime, in hopes of one day really belonging to 556 Pro. She meets the group Beit from 315 Pro there, because they also all work part-time at Denny’s. Pierre’s high spirits lift up Margot’s mood.

Kirari and Anzu from 346 Pro are there. Kirari is trying to get Anzu to start working at Denny’s. But Anzu hates work so she refuses.

Chika Yokoyama is at Denny’s with magical girl Nana Abe, AKA Usamin. Chika, who is a wannabe magical girl and huge fan, says she wants to be just like Nana when she’s older.

That night, right when Margot is about to finish her shift, Dramatic Stars from 315 Pro visits Denny’s. Margot is a Dramatic Stars fangirl. She stays a bit longer just so she can serve them… But Dramatic Stars has heard all about her malicious actions as a 961 Pro member and don’t want her as a waitress. They say “either we leave, or you leave.” So Margot ends her shift and goes home in tears.

Margot feels wronged, though now she feels she must do something about it rather than cry. She feels she needs to focus on clearing her bad reputation.

The focus shifts back onto the Re:SON@Te group.
