theory on reinhard gaining the sword saint dp
"Personally, I think we're going to eventually learn that Reinhard's reason for being upset was because Wilhelm's accusation rang true. Wilhelm feels it isn't Reinhard's fault that the blessing passed from Theresia to him during the failed expedition against the White Whale and thus regrets his words. However, Reinhard states emphatically that he did kill Theresia. It is implied in Arc 5 and basically confirmed in Once Upon a Time in Luginica that Reinhard can get any Divine Protection he desires. What if Reinhard actually got the Divine Protection of the Sword Saint when he did because he had desired it?"
"Oh that is just the right amount of fucked up to be extremely plausible. Oh god, yea that totally makes sense with his weird complex about blaming himself for stuff"
This would also explain his stunted emotional range as a overcorrection from that incident. In a single moment of genuine desire he unwittingly destroyed his family.
Being self-aware of that and overcorrecting would result in this numb near unfeeling weapon of the empire that is he is. Desire is the root of sin and to sin is to be human. Reinhard's culled his desires, he is sinless, an exalted position fitting him but in doing so he is less human. This makes how he's referred to as a monster have a glint of truth as he's not currently living as a human is supposed to live.
This makes Reinhard a really interesting foil to Subaru. Subaru himself is an obvious messianic figure, but rather than being sinless, collects them. As well as walking amongst the people as an equal. While Reinhard is the antithesis of that in every way. Sinless and alienated from the people. A hero is all he can be, more legend than man.

The Potential Connections between Aldebaran and Roswaal.
I'm probably way overthinking this (this was a literal showerthought), but there's a suspiciously high amount of similarities between Roswaal and Al I havent seen anyone talk about:
Both are students of Echidna, who refer to her as Sensei.
Priscilla, who's seen Al's face, calls him a jester.
In a side story, we learn the name of the first Roswaal body. His name? Altair. Which, much like Aldebaran, can be shortened to... Al.
Al seems proficient in several types of magic, much like Roswaal.
Arc 9 seems to be focusing on Al. Chapter 1 not only has a big focus on Roswaal, it also includes this suspicious conversation:
Roswaal: […That would certainly be troooubling~. You seem to be much more loved than I am.] Petra: […When you say that I am loved, by what exactly?] Roswaal: [Something that I’ve resolved myself to resist, yet have never been able to prevail against, a peculiar power of that sort.]
Notably, on the latest chapter, the battle between Al and Reinhardt is described as "a confrontation irreconcilable, between one whom the world loved, and one whom it did not". It's a fair guess that the one most unloved in question is Al. If so, it's posible that power Roswaal was talking about was the world itself.
Roswaal wants to kill Volcanica. Al in these latest chapters has taken control of said dragon, and his blade is named after the dragon
I admit, nothing of this is super-conclusive. I don't even have any concrete theories. I just think these similarities are very interesting.

I'm well aware this is NOT the way re zero is going to go, but I always had the crack headcanon that the reason Reinhard's pov is a secret is because Od Laguna's DPs actually made him SO self aware he even knows he is a character from a Japanese light novel

I think what's so interesting is how the other knights have traits that Subaru envies. Reinhard's power, Julius's chivalry, and Ferris's femininity, are all things that Subaru aspires to. However they're also all pressures that weigh heavily on the respective knights... The grass is always greener, I guess!

I found Puck’s little magic lesson interesting & his identification of Subaru’s affinity as “pure” dark curious, so I went back to LN 2 to see if Roswaal said something similar or if this was just Puck (which would raise some curious questions on how Spirits VS Humans sense affinities if true I thought) but then I found something else that made me wonder how the hell I missed this, even as I did get the original answer I was looking for in that Roswaal & Puck’s assessment on Subaru’s affinity being pure matched up.
You literally have Subaru say the above image highlighted stuff… and Al uses Earth Magic & likely has an affinity for it. The way Subaru describes said big brother here seems uncannily similar to Al’s projected personality. Al also is at the very least implied to be Older then Subaru.
There’s also the fact Al calls Subaru “bro” but this could just be an English quirk I thought, so I went to see what meaning the Japanese word Al uses “kyodai” had & this is what popped up as soon as I searched what that word meant:
Tumblr media
So. Uh. The FUCK? This in conjunction with what Subaru says above with the highlight is craaaaazyyyyyy.
There’s also the fact that the Gluttony siblings in Arc 5 basically seem to be sharing an Authority, then you have Subaru & Al (whose implied to have some sort of timey wimey Death activated authority if his shit with Capella is any indication) who may-or-may-not be siblings sharing nearly identical abilities and I’m supposed to think all of this is a mere coincidence???
Admittedly, if Al is older then Subaru that kinda does bring up questions to this since Naoko & Kenichi surely would’ve mentioned him at some point? Though, since Al is Isekai’d he’d essentially have gone missing in their minds nearly 20 years ago now so potentially makes sense why they don’t speak of him. I haven’t gotten up to the point to read the LN of the First Trial so there may just be hints the anime cut I don’t know yet as of posting this.
Definitely curious to see if Arc 6+ content will have evidence for this theory when I get around to that since I hear Al basically gets into the spotlight from Arc 7 & onwards.
Hope this ramble came out coherently & not like a mad scientist chucking stuff together lmao.

I was looking through your re zero reblogs and a tag stood out to me. What do you mean you think Otto is a manifestation of Satella? I’m really intrigued by the concept
Ohh! Thank you for the question. So this is a pet theory of mine which is probably wrong but I find incredibly entertaining. Beware this is going to be long and rambley. The TL;DR is probably: the only person who is as obsessed with Subaru as Otto is, is Satella It tries to explain several things that I find weird about Otto (some of these things might be explained in the LN but Tappeis writing style doesn't click with me and so i'm really slow with reading them) :
a) Ottos sudden entry in Subarus story (and the fact that Subaru always meets him no matter what he does) the first time he meets Otto at a pub because Otto made a financial mistake and drank his sadness away. This one's fairly unsuspicious. The second time is stranger. Subaru is going back to the mansion alone in the darkness and meets Otto on the road. Not only that. Otto is standing near the light and waves. Like he was expecting him. Why? Does he do that often - wave to travelers who are just passing by? But the most suspicious entry is his last/permanent entry to the story - his getting saved from the witch cult. Why did the witch cult kidnapp him an no one else? Why did they plan to sacrifice him? Why wasn't he with the rest of the merchants? Suuuuus!!! This at least hints that Otto might have connections/significance to the witch cult
2) why does the whale eat him and not Subaru? Subaru should have smelled tastier so why did it chose Otto? Maybe because Otto smelled of the witch? And if Otto knew that the Mabeast would go after him it would paint his pushing Subaru of the cart in a different light.
3) he's not in roswaals gospel which even has Subaru in it. How/why? Is it really just because he's so insignificant?
So these things make Otto suspicious but they don't link him to Satella necessarily. So here comes my reason for that
3) Otto's behavior in Season 2 don't make sense. Not only is he ride or die for Subaru very very fast while the other is basically nothing but rude to him. He explains this with Subaru saving him but technically that were the iron fang people and Otto isn't thankful to them at all. And even if that were the case - why is Otto so sure that Subaru needs help? As far as I remember he offers Subaru help in every single time loop, even in the ones where Subaru still believes himself to be on top of things (and shouldn't send sadboy pleas help me vibes)
4) And than there is the speech which will save Subaru. And I find it quite suspicious: a) this speech is suspiciously parallel to Satellas speech in the witches tea party it kinda feels like a continuation of it
b) Otto says that he understands that Subaru wants to be strong in front of the girl he likes and in front of the girl that likes him but he shouldn't have to be strong in front of his friend. So the girl Subaru likes is obv. Emilia but why talk about another girl who likes Subaru... who is that supposed to be? Otto doesn't know about Rem. Does he mean Emilia again? But why say it that strangely - or was he just covering his bases. IDK for me it kinda made sense as a Emilia/Satella distinction (or if Otto DOES know about Rem that makes him really suspicious again)
C) Otto takes it very personally that Subaru didn't ask HIM for help. But why should Subaru do that. He technically knows him for what, a few days?
D) Subaru notes that this kind of speech is usually reserved for the heroine (something he also mentioned about being summoned to another world and we know that was Satella - so is that the case here too?)
5) Otto has a lot of parallels to Subaru/Satella has a lot of parallels to Subaru
So all of this could hint to the fact that Otto is a time traveler and/or has some connection to one of the witches (either Pandora or Satella)
But I like my theory of Otto being a manifestation of Satella because it fits neatly into the theme of the parallels between Satella/ Subaru, it is something Satella would do, the thought that Satella sees Subaru dying over and over again and just says: okay have to do everything myself. If he won't accept help if I'm a woman I gotta go in as a guy is extremely funny to me, I believe that being kinda pathetic is an important property of being associated with envy AND Otto is next to Satella the person who most obsesses over Subaru and only Subaru
And Satella could rewrite history if she needed to (that would explain Otto's memories)

Louanna is the strongest character in the world of Re: Zero.
Title.
No, this isn't a crack theory. Let me cook.
For some context, let me reintroduce who Louanna is because no one read side stories.
Louanna Astrea, mother of Reinhard van Astrea and wife to Heinkel Astrea. Her only role in the story so far is to make the family drama worse by sleeping. She got this Sleepy Beauty condition which is NOT the same thing as being Gluttony'd. She has been sleeping for 18 years since Reinhard was 2 (as of arc 8).
As we all know, Reinhard is stated to be the strongest character by Tappei Nagatsuki in a Q&A (I use his full name here so it's more intimidating). And we all know how reliable the Q&A are with the existence of arc 7+1.
Tappei might not be lying straight up, but he could have been easily saying a half-truth because he is Echidna. (the only way to write a manipulative character is to be manipulative yourself)
Reinhard IS the strongest character, but only among the ones who are awake.
Reinhard's secret to his power has never been explained in the series other than Od Laguna simping over his rizz. We are supposed to take that as face value and believe it.
This is a trap set by Tappei. He wants all of you to think this way. Wakey wakey.
Reinhard is strong because Louanna is strong, this is all genetic. Have you ever wondered how this pathetically weak drunkard has a son this strong? Louanna is strong, that's why.
Tappei has been hiding her lores in the side stories because she is going to be as important as Clind, the holder of the Melocholy WF.
In fact, judging from how much Tappei is holding up her lores, it is not a far stretch to say that she have a bigger reveal. Which is that she is stronger than Reinhard, a character we all already knew to be the most powerful.
Q: "But dude, if this rando plot device vegetable is really the strongest, how did she even get the coma sickness?"
Reinhard has been stated to be a monster in the series for multiple times, it is often to describe his monstrous strength to be inhumane.
But what if it was to taken literally?
Reinhard isn't actually a human, because he IS a monster. Well, half-monster to be precise.
While Heinkel is a pathetic weak normie human, Louanna is an actual monster. She has even been alive to witness the Witch of Envy devour half of the world, in fact, she is Flugel. (But that's another post for another day.)
Louanna is at least 400yo, so her flow of time is different from normal humans. That's right, her 18 years of slumber is not a condition or anything, she was merely napping. So stop trying to cure her, stupid Heinkel, she is fine.
Still in doubt? Look at Heinkel. He's so durable in the story. He has survived too many blunt attacks to still be living. Do you know why? Louanna trained Heinkel well during the three years she was married to him and awake.
She constantly beat up Heinkel, hence strengthening his durability. Yes, I believe that Louanna is a husband-beater, judging by the personality of Flugel according to Shaula.
We all know that Heinkel is Isekai Subaru, and we all know how affectionate Subaru becomes with his abusers. That's why Heinkel still loves Louanna and tries to 'cure' her. He loves being beat up.
From a bad master to a bad mother. Flugel is male, you say? She can shapeshift, she is the strongest after all. In fact, she is Pandora. Have we seen Pandora and Louanna in the same room before? No, we haven't. Louanna=Flugel=Pandora.
TL;DR: Stop claiming Reinhard or Satella or Regulus or Subaru or Petra to be the strongest, Louanna is. Stop coping. See the truth, dude.
Source: trust me bro

So, seeing Capella these last few episodes, I now have theories about how her authority works. Some contradictory but hey I'm mostly putting stuff on the board rn before I narrow it down. Sorry it's all a bit stream of consciousness.
She seems to have a hard limit on material, very alchemist equivalent exchange kinda situation but with flesh and blood. She pulls from those sacs she carries, she needs all the mice to rebuild her eyes, etc.
Likewise, she can inhabit and control each bit individually. She is no one rat, she is the rat swarm. This is why I don't think they'd pull another regulus here, there's no hidden bit of her that's the real weak point, she is all her flesh.
It may be a situation of destroying each individual cell, or as Al falsely threatens, destroying the soul rather than the flesh.
Though, if the first, I wonder if all those infected with her dragons blood count as like... lich philactaries.
However since she says her and her blood are separate I doubt it. She seems to imply the dragons blood is a curse for her too, one she also wishes to cure, perhaps her regeneration keeps her alive and safe from the way it's killing crusche.
In which case that there may be a part of her flesh kept separate and as yet un-cursed by dragons blood to keep herself alive is on the table. Still feels a bit too close to how we took down regulus, so i doubt it.
Though I do have to question what her base form is in order to have all this flesh, and if she is fully infected with the cursed blood, why it isn't killing her? It leads me to think her cells don't die at all, and the excess mass is her body generating more cells to replace old ones the way it normally would, but since the old cells dont die she just ends up with a surpluse.
Which leads me to "how was she cursed in the first place, and for what purpose?" Being the key to understanding her authority more deeply.
My first thought was her being cursed to limit her regenerative abilities, perhaps stopping or at least slowing the generation of new cells?
Though I also wonder if it was the result of gaining the authority in the first place, warping her existing blood (Should she truly be a member of the royal family, tho idk if they had blessed blood at all, they are deeply tied to the dragon and were gifted blood so maybe)? Or perhaps an affliction she had before gaining it, rejected by the dragon somehow or something, and that is what made her seek out the authority? The authority as close as she could get to a cure?
I'm more inclined to the later to be honest. That blackened flesh ever time Cappella transforms? I think thats what she truly looks like now, when she's not purposefully holding a different preferred form. I think it's rotted her to the core and her authority is the only thing holding her together. If the blood causes her pain she doesn't show it, but then again she seems to have a beyond human pain tolerance so it would track.
All this to say her cells are infected but incapable of death. If she was infected pre-authority and the authorities do in some way reflect a desire of the recipient, not wanting to die mixed with the level of control Cappella seems to crave makes sense. If the dragons blood can't overcome it, I doubt anything like fire could (though cremation seems a common trope for such things so could still be on the table). So Al's proposed soul death seems the most likely to have sticking power to me.
idk still mentally sorting it out thanks for reading my word vomit coming to my ted talk

So in 28 mansions or a part of Chinese constellation system which is also imported to Japan, the boushuku (Pleiades/Subaru), yokushuku (Tsubasa = "wings" = Flugel), and toshuku (Southern Dipper) are the three great lucky stars. The rebirth cycle is boushuku as toshuku, toshuku as yokushuku, and yokushuku as boushuku...?
I don't know, could it be a hint somehow...? Kinda weak because there's no guy associated with 斗 in his name as far as we know lol. Also Aldebaran is hitsushuku that rises after boushuku so that part is still the same maybe? He's not a part of the three lucky stars (O_O)
Huh it's neat how there's probably some eastern concept mixed in with the usual western concept of the constellation system

…this appa merchant. Gah!
He is bothering me waaay to much and I need to put everything into one place at this point. Enjoy me losing my marbles over a dude who sells appas lmao.
This scene is framed as Kadomon being concerned for Subaru, which I do think holds some water.
My real issue lies with how Kadomon is giving me the vibes of someone who works for that Benefactor I’ve been talking about (which might be this “Six Tongues” I’ve vaguely heard is the Lugunican CIA? I will need to get into some Side Content containing stuff on that organization in the future to 100% say) who helped him clearly get a spot on a Main Capitol Street he wouldn’t have the wealth to get, plus Kadomon’s clear lack of inclination towards customer interactions, numerous notes of Subaru - that literally pop up in 2 SEPARATE Arcs also - thinking Kadomon shouldn’t be running a customer oriented business like this.
Then there’s recent stuff in LN 5 here where they just interacted & Subaru’s feeling “uneasy” when Kadomon does stuff like abandoning his stand “as if it were nothing” to him + Kadomon himself outright admitting he doesn’t get customers and all previous signs point to him hating this line of work so it just is bizarre why he’s running this business.
There’s also the fact that Kadomon is proven to have been able to get in contact with Rom. Given Rom = Cromwell who is running around with Kidnapped Princess Felt over there & also was (according to Wilhelm in Arc 5 cut content anyways) the Chief Strategist for the Demi Humans during the Demi-Human War, Rom would 100% be a very high profile interest to a CIA organization of a Country that was nearly defeated by his faction, so having an agent specifically to monitor/make contact with Rom would make sense.
All of these things I mention basically coalesce in my mind as Kadomon’s warning to Subaru here being that there might be other Agents running around who could overhear him saying shit.
Actuaaaalllyyy… another thought occurs to me here. This isn’t the first time Kadomon heard Subaru speaking of the Witch. Literally the final loop of Arc 1 Subaru speaks about “Satella” and making sure she “wouldn’t be alone” + him saying doing things over multiple times aloud.
Oh shit- yeeeah uh. If Kadomon is a member of this supposedly Lugunican CIA group this is going to be a fucking disaster post-Arc 3 when Subaru has achievements under his belt that would be blatantly suspicious (such as 0 causalities against Sloth) to Kadomon.
Kadomon also says here that people wouldn’t be understanding about hearing the Witch out in the open “me included” which means this scene could actually be foreshadowing Kadomon turning against Subaru at some point by telling somebody about that Final Arc 1 Loop dialogue Subaru drops that I had a lot of commentary on since it was SO sketch.

Re zero novel spoilers ahead
Read with caution
I'm predicting it now rem will recover her memories by reading her own book of the dead
Louis spat out her memories in the hall of memories.
This is where the memories of the soul are processed and how the BoDs are produced.
It would also explain why she's awake when no other victim of gluttony is.
Od laguna has the memories now so to the world she's real and thus woke up<:GRAAAfiel:1096242080038268939>
Also if she does recover her memories I wonder how their dynamic will shift.
Rem in arc 7 has been thoroughly against subaru being a hero while arc3 rem was the one who pushed him into that role.
The knowledge that she's the reason subaru is running himself ragged would fuck her up immensely I want that I NEED that.
I NEED the angst caused by rem regaining her memories directly injected into my veins.
It would also help them connect on a much deeper level and let rem actually help subaru with his hero complex cuz she'd know why he's so hell bent on being *her hero*.
