i havent done art in maybe a year or more but Ive had the desire to draw my ghoul character a LOT these past few days💀💀💀

People keep asking me why didn’t I just make a new character instead of changing Domino’s design so much and I’m gonna be blunt:

Because I didn’t like his original design.

I know people do miss the general simplicity of the older designs, but those old designs weren’t made with a lot of thought to them.

Back then, these comics were just for fun, I had no idea what I was planning for them. I didn’t even know what the Cherubs were doing, I just wanted to draw cool animal characters. So I changed their outfits to better represent their status and personalities.

I was honestly kind of surprised I got praise on reddit in defense of the old designs saying they were “otherworldly” because honestly a lot of these outfits were half assed 💀. I was literally drawing them as I was making the comics. even when sketching out some designs like Ciel, I legit had nothing to work with because I didn’t even know what his job was, hence why his outfit is kind of sexy. Because he was just… sexy bird angel.

But with Domino, it was a lot more complex than that. I wasn’t just unhappy with his original outfits, his overall designs no longer fit what I had planned for him. He was originally a one off joke turned gag character with not much depth to him, just someone for Sera to bounce off of that wasn’t overly antagonistic to her.

Over time I ended up settling on a personality and backstory for him and I didn’t really think it reflected well on his current design. I also was just not fond of it personally, I know a lot of people really liked it, but it felt too cute. Domino is cute but the point of his character (at least in the reworks) is that he’s inconsistent, erratic and kind of dangerous. He can also be kind of unsettling. Inconsistency not just in personality but in design as well. I wanted him to feel a bit more androgynous rather than simply femme. During this time I was also finalizing on a consistent designing theme for the angels and I settled on lower ranked angels appearing more human, hence why Domino was given a nose and mouth.

Domino kind of lives a double life hence I wanted a design that better reflects that. The quiet, reserved actor that’s fawned over by his fans and the pathetic, emotional wreck that Sera and co are very familiar with.

I know people liked his original design. It’s still very cute and I do look fondly on it, but I just don’t love it the same way other people do. I do hope eventually people learn to love the new design as much as the original, it’s such a massive change that I understand why it’s something that’s hard for people to really wrap their heads around or even like.

But yeah. Please just give new domino a chance, I swear the change was necessary 👍

I used standard anonymous crewmate design for ppl with no info

But tried to gather at least some info from old server screenshots for cues, like CR6548 Kura had different red emojis in their bio, so I gave them a rose strawberry crown and earrings 🌹🍓

After YQY’s transformation into an alicorn, he was taught how to use his magic and flight by mostly his shizun, Qiong Ding peers and fellow head disciples.

LQG was the pegasus who helped him with his flight skills the most, though SQH was better at helping him grasp the basics of flight

Something about the basics already being second nature to LQG so he finds it difficult to convey the concept, while SQH is normally a weak flier who often gets winglocked (like Fluttershy) so he knows many ways to make the basics make sense .iykwim

I actually chose that weak flier who gets winglocked trait for SQH because I felt like it would make the Moshang Maigu Ridge scene cooler + it fits the flighty persona he has I guess ahah

Zui Xian head disciple is also a pegasus but was barred from teaching YQY because they weren’t gonna “teach the future sect leader to fly like a drunk”

YQY does give that ribbon to SJ as his first gift 🙂‍↕️ And if SJ noticed that it’s the same shade as his own magic then he didn’t say anything

Honestly I can’t figure out how to draw unicorn magic in a way that I like so for now it’ll just be represented via sparkles

Fun design detail ponies usually have one colour for their magic but YQY has two because I love that guy

Yes Bingqiu do tend to hook their horns together whenever they nuzzle<33 It’s like their pony equivalent of hand holding and/or hugging lol

More of an ‘on the whim idea w/o a solid reason’ I had while I was designing YQY, but the star shaped mark on his chest is more like a scar than his natural coat pattern. That’s why in the little ‘flashback’ Yue Qi doesn’t have it

The potential reason that I bullshitted at the time was because he was turned into an alicorn earlier than he should’ve been as his shizun’s attempt to stabilise his qi in the Caves or some kinda reason to that degree 💀💀💀 on top of the whole soul-bonding thing with Xuan Su too

It would be pretty sick cutie mark symbolism though cause I did imagine YQY getting his cutie mark in the Lingxi Caves and if you read my last note dump then you’d have read I had plans of using broken chains in its design

I clearly hate this man but it’s just a tentative idea rn

Behind SJ’s cracked horn (TW: Abuse (read: Qiu Jianluo)) I imagine receiving abuse as a foal often resulted in strong magic surges from him (kinda like qi deviations but for unicorn magic) and out of fear QJL would inflict pain to his horn or use some kind of blocker to stop and permanently damage his magic

I entertained the idea of his horn being fully broken off in the first place but Wu Yanzi probably saw a use in his unicorn magic, so he could’ve restored his horn as best he can using backwater cultivation and magic methods lol

Bingge does snap off his horn on top of his limbs in PIDW tho

So yeah while he’s still able to use his magic he can’t control it with the same proficiency as he used to

I think the horn guards he wears, atop of hiding the scars/cracks, are probably made with engraved arrays that help to stabilise his unicorn magic

And the horn guards are probably like a status and wealth symbol too in the same way nail guards are, so it does feel a bit gaudy for SQQ to walk around with it all of the time as if he’s flaunting it

sooooo ermm i guess i get to talk about this piece now YIPPEE

i am one of those people who's constantly trying to figure out what their own art style looks like LMFAO. i take frequent breaks from art due to mental health shit so it feels like every time i come back i'm trying to find my footing again.

that being said, i had a lot of caffeine yesterday and started this on a whim and it ended up being something i'm incredibly proud of. i think it helps that i've been redrawing old emotes for a friend's twitch channel, so figuring out which brushes i like right now was really helpful, and i ended up using my personal emote palette like...a lot. that pink in Etho's eye, the purple used for shading, most of the browns are all used in my own emotes. it's wild how much having colours already picked out streamlines things!

Etho is the one i started with, of course, and ended up being one that i went back to re-draw after i'd done...three? or four? more, because the sizing wasn't right and i wasn't happy with the posing. i still wish i could have conveyed him dipping his chin into his coat fluff a little better, but oh well. i thought of the little detail of him looking at Martyn's drawing at the last second (#ethtyn4life) and it made me laugh so i did it. points to you if you caught that!

Joel was the second - life!Joel has always been fey in my head, especially after that season when he just went batshit insane the second he turned red. can't explain it, that's just how it be. i tried to give him an air of subtle menace about him but i think he just looks sleepy 💀 i'd like to do these as individual, larger pieces at some point, so maybe i can work on that more then.

Grian was the third - he reminds me of a Lost Boy here and that wasn't intentional but the Lost Boys always kind of freaked me out and life!Grian's kinda freaky so i think it fits. his little smirk is so creepy and i love him.

i don't remember who i did next after this so we'll just go in order pfft

Bdubs is SO CUTE look at him. one of the few where i couldn't make a menacing expression work, and honestly with how good his profile turned out i barely mind. i did that side profile with no reference, y'all, idk what kind of crack i was on last night. what the hell. this was about the point where i started wanting to do little lore doodles for everybody so i added the clock face - i think it clashes with the red background but what can you do.

CLEOOOOOO CLEO CLEO. i LOVED drawing them, i think their design is one of my favourites of the bunch. her hair has always been snakes in my head and AGAIN i drew those with no reference, can you fucking believe that. i loved the little detail of some of the snakes poking at the people next to her, they're so cute hehe. also Cleo has freckles now, i'm so sorry but i don't make the rules. someone complimented the teeth in the reblogs and THANK YOU!! they're not quite anatomically correct but fuck it we ball and they look cool as hell anyway.

Martyn is so smug, i love him. points if you caught that he's looking at Cleo bc Double Life, i wanted to do something a lil different with him than just another straight up symmetry tool drawing and i think it fits. he is so eye-searing tho sir please tone it down.

Lizzie is fey just like her husband, and also she is smol. i don't think it's conveyed as well as i'd like here but i also didn't want her to look like a straight-up child so i did what i could. she is So Scary with those vacant blue eyes oh my god. and drawing her hair was sooooo fun i love long hair ahh

with Gem i basically smoothed out a rough design sketch i posted awhile back and i'm so proud of the little head cock she's got going on, she looks so cool. also her hair?? idk how i did that. i love her swoopy bangs so much.

Pearl is moth. Pearl will always be Moth. so she got lil antennae and big buggy eyes. drawing that hood was so satisfying, i used to try and draw Raven Teen Titans in high school and could never get the hood to look right so seeing this one come out perfectly was sooooo good. and of course had to include a teensy moon.

Thoughts while Reading Red Hood Comics (click for clarity)

To be frank, I only read all issues of Red Hood: the Lost Days, issues 1-12 of the first volume of Red Hood and the Outlaws, and then 1-26 of the second volume of RHATO. So here is what I’ve been thinking and drawing as I read them.

*SPOILERS*

1) I made Artemis a suit that could be used of she was working with Jazz and Jason as Wolf and Red Hood in their gang, with a helmet that covered her identity. However, I might remake it bc I’m not happy with it.

2) I was inspired to draw an outfit with a blend of fashion styles while reading RHATO 2nd vol., issues 7-11. I, of course, drew Jazz as the subject.

3) Chibi Starfire and Wraith for no particular reason.

4) Why did I read all of this? So I could figure out Jason’s timeline during the period of time where he was resurrected so I could use it for Pokémon AU. You may judge me, but be glad I’m doing research!!

5) I remember drawing Kori in her imagined full suit and I was worried that it was too revealing. After reading RHATO, my version of her looks like she's going to church 💀 I did, however, loved the scenes where she got wet/injured bc it was cool asf to see her fire hair being weakened like that.

6) I kept wondering how I was gonna fit Jazz into all of the timeline with this new knowledge, but I think she’d come a little bit after RHATO and the contents of Jason’s journey would probably shift a lot in order to accommodate a DP crossover. However, I wanted to create a space suit for Jazz anyways, as inspired by RHATO issue 12 from the first volume.

7) Legit gagged and wanted to kms when I saw Talia kiss Jason in the comics (ladies, please!!! Bat Dick cannot be this good!!!) but I loved the scenes where she's absolutely terrified of Jason. I thought it was so interesting how everyone feared him, even if it's honestly a load of glazing nonsense.

8) I hated how RHATO characterized Kori, but I kept wondering what would happen if a better version of her (not the RHATO version) and Dan met. I think in a weird way, they'd be really good friends for various reasons. To Dan, Kori reminds him of Jazz and to Kori, she can tell that he is a hurting soul that needs a friend. I also imagine that with Tamaranean customs and ghost culture (the phanon hc that fighting/touch being a big deal in the ghost zone), I think they'd be super fun together. Also, hot and cold?? Orange and green?? Hero and villain?? Like hello?? Is no one seeing the yin and yang going on???

9) I really, really, really wanted to draw a Red Hood plush that is inspired by the Enderman from the Minecraft Cuutopia plushy series. He is squishy and marketable.

10) Isabel is super cute but holy shit, girl, STAND UP!! The way she's written is also ridiculous bc of the amount of plot holes and characterization? To be frank, it's extremely strange that she remembers the 15 year old boy on ONE airplane ride several years ago (especially when she was probably 19+ years old!!), that she would flirt with another passenger (and Jason specifically, like the writers tried to glaze him so much that it was just 😟), and that she'd STILL flirt with him when he tells her that he's going to a funeral. Girl. You're too cute for this. Please raise your standards!!

Conclusion, RHATO the 2nd volume was pretty enjoyable and RH: Lost Days is interesting. RHATO the first volume was hot garbage, but what kept me going for a little while was this one line from a review about RHATO #8: " It makes me wonder if her bed is the final sight on the tour, wink wink cough puke." which made me CACKLE LIKE OMG 💀💀

Sketches and drawings that didn’t fit into any particular post — I drew them when, after finishing the series, I skimmed through the first trilogy again. I wanted to reanalyze the characters’ behavior at the beginning of the story.

Fun fact: I started reading based on a recommendation, and even though I hadn’t seen a single piece of fanart, I somehow knew there was going to be a storyline in there that would catch my interest — I just didn’t know which one. I got absorbed in the plot and forgot all about that thought.

And there was a storyline with Molly that I didn’t like — from the very beginning and throughout the early books. And on Tumblr, I’ve seen posts from people frustrated with those who don’t like Molly, but I haven’t seen any posts from people who actually explain why she doesn’t appeal to them (aside from the obvious "jealousy" angle)

And to be fair — she is a good, strong, well-written character. At some point, I even admitted to myself that her storyline genuinely works — like, I believe in it!

But I still didn’t start liking her.

Probably because her arc leads toward an obviously uneventful future — you know, cottage, candles, kids, garden...

Maybe it just comes down to the character type. She’s very comforting, very feminine — which, in itself, is absolutely great — but I’m hopelessly subjective, and I’ve always been drawn to a very different kind of female character. Someone like Lisbeth Salander (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) or Mizu (Blue Eye Samurai).

So what feels like quiet paradise to Fitz — to me, it’s a nightmare. And their problems honestly feel more like harsh emotional triggers. You’re 15–17 or however old, your country is at war, your girlfriend is pregnant, and she wants to move to the middle of nowhere and make candles for a living?

And - she’s right! She’s completely right to keep pressing Fitz about it! She’s right to finally leave him along with his kings, wolves, ships, and all ways to build a better world.

And she’s right to marry Burrich. And she was right not to stay alone with a child, without a home or family.

So yeah — the story arc is solid, the character is well-written, and everything technically makes sense. But I still can’t bring myself to like her. I can’t love her because we didn’t connect at all.

/Don’t judge me — I’m honestly super subjective. The world is full of all kinds of characters: some we absolutely adore, and others we just read about without ever really feeling a personal connection. If I had a podcast about female characters, you’d probably end up recommending me therapy.🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️💀

A force shutdown isn't the word I'd use to describe cybertronian fainting.. "force" sounds more like someone on the outside doing something to Ratchet to make him shut down when he is otherwise healthy/ok. Rather than something going wrong internally.

Like if he was going under for surgery, maybe when he goes under it could be called "force shutdown" as well as "inducing stasis".

Now a "system failure" or "system crash" might be more appropriate for fainting or suddenly collapsing. When Ratchet injected the Synth-en maybe his systems were overwhelmed by the foreign substance and he suffered a complete system crash and collapsed.💔

Something tells me that wouldn't work somehow, but I don't have all the technical knowhow to really explain why that would be a bad idea <XD I'm sure Ratchet could explain why that would be bad.

Hmmm, good question...

The only thing that comes to mind is for Raf I headcanon that he is fluent in sign language and that's how he communicates with/understands Bee. (My version of Bee communicates with sign language, not random beeps and boops that Raf somehow magically understands)

Wait.. I've seen this man before... Hmmmmmmmmmm oh nvm. /silly anyways, I like the design! It's quite nice and the way the colours are arranged are done quite nicely. Overall, this Puzzles is approved by yours truly 💜

Ono we got an edgy Puzzles chat get away /silly anyways, I've read the entirety of the whole Grudge Puzzles AU blog just today! I love that one time he broke the literal fourth wall and cracked the screen, that was a really nice surprise. [Thanks Micheal for fixing the glass with a new one we owe you something 💥] overall, the story is very enteresting and very VERY intriguing! I'm hoping to see how this progresses! Oh and also I love the puffy sleeves, those are literally my favourite, thank you for putting that on your Puzzles teehee it was fun 💜

Ough....] I like how the mouth has a jagged line to represent sharp teeth ig, the 1 and 0 on the eyes are quite interesting! I think it kinda makes sense for a virus themed Puzzles? But overall, the design is interesting! Btw, I wonder if this is an au, if so.. I wonder how it works hehe... Oh anyways, thanks for the silly man! 💜

The wings are a really cool concept, especially with the RGB colored looking wing! I really like drawing wings so thanks for giving me an excuse to draw one. Oh and the designs nice! Sorry I've been gone for so long, I've been focusing on drawing for myself, as well as having massive brainrot for Sonic OCs and such. I won't be sharing my ACTUAL ocs at the moment, they're a bit personal and-- yeah.

However; I WILL share new blorbos :] -- Let's start with Sonic, Shadow, and Vespera. I haven't drawn more of my dadow or REALLY made a true design for Sonic, BUT Shadow has gotten a tweak. I yoinked an idea from Lancelot artists, and honestly- I'm obsessed with Shadow looking this way asjfgkajsg
