Hi there! Sorry to just bust in here unannounced but I was wondering if you could offer some advice. My friend and I are both Christian, but he is Side A whereas I support Side B. I haven't heard him expound in depth on his view yet, but I did hear him say he believes verses like Leviticus 18 and 1 Corinthians 6:9–11 are "taken out of context." We are planning on meeting and talking about these differences soon. Do you have any tips/advice for gracefully and lovingly arguing my position? (Or if you have already answered a question like this, could you direct me to your answer?) Thank you! ^_^

Sorry for the wait, I had to find the time to look/ask around for resources bc I know I've addressed this topic and reblooped stuff on it before but I wanted to do this right.

Here are the posts I've found that I believe go into the most depth on the topic of homosexuality being addressed in scripture: Here and Here. There's also a book that I own but have not had a chance to read yet, The Bible and Homosexual Practice: Texts and Hermeneutics, by Robert J Gagnon which I've heard is a very thorough dissemination of the topic. If anyone else has good resources on the "out of context scripture" argument please feel free to reach out or add to this post. I think it's good that your friend is at least willing to have the discussion with you!! The only thing I would say is like. You should definitely present your case with love and gentleness. Just as you would want him to listen and try to understand where you are coming from, try to extend that same empathy to him even though you know he's wrong.

The thing about a lot of affirmation of sin is that its not really a brain issue in the sense that its about the argument or the truth. Like I think its patently ridiculous to most people to make the "its out of context" argument with an issue that is so clear cut. Often there's a real heart issue that needs to be addressed first before the person is legitimately open to correction, if that makes sense? And that can take a long time, so just try to stay gentle and patient. I would also encourage your friend to maybe check out Rosaria Butterfield's work. I think her testimony is a very powerful tool both for Christians to understand the plight of gay people and for gay people to understand how Christ applies to them. I know she's not very fond of side b ideology which is a shame, but I do think her work is still important otherwise!

This sounds like a trap to get you guys to reblog art and fics and gifs which yes that’s an added benefit but also the way you get a feel of followers or mutuals is the little comments in the tags of a post like subtle little whispers and you start to recognise names like oh that’s the one who’s always nice to artists or that’s the funny one or maybe they have a funny queue pun tag or maybe there can be a little prev tags interaction like that’s how you start creating your own little likeminded souls club here.
