Y'all I don't think I've posted much on here about it (and lord knows I don't have a big following so don't think anyone will read thks) but I just had my 8 month review post reconnecting surgery for my facial nerve and the plastic surgeon is happy with my progress!

It's been a wild fucking time for sure.

Context:

I had a lump in my saliva gland get removed surgically; during said surgery, my facial nerve was cut, resulting in facial palsy on the left side of my face. I had tk be flown down from Bundaberg to Brisbane via Royal Flying Doctor Service (neat and terrifying experience), and have a second surgery to reconnext/place a graft on the nerve tk join up within 24 hours of the original surgery, through the same suture site.

Monthly speech rehab appts, regular follow ups with the surgical team in Brisbane, twice daily exercises ans scar management.

I have minimal feeling in my ear, I'm still working on getting a full blink back, I dribble all the time, and my smile is wonky. But I am making some motherfucking progress!

This is the best. I was in the military during 9/11 and felt angry at Natalie Maines for her words, because it feltike she was saying that we (the military) was to blame. But I was a baby. I was 20 years old. When I began to undersrand the breadth of damage that the US has done in other countries I reconnexted with their music and when "Not Ready to Make Nice" came out it was MY song. I was angry at a lpt of my own command by that time for unrelated reasons, but I swore I'd never let public sentiment alone rule my taste in music.

So I have loved them for more than 20 years, and I'll continue to love them. Don't forget to check out the song "Gaslighter" it's a delightful political commentary :)

in case you didn’t know, The Dixie Chicks, an extremely successful country singer trio in America, recently changed their name to The Chicks, as ‘Dixie’ is apparently a nostalgic name for the Civil War-era South.

They have also released a new song and video, which is what I really wanted to bring up - I would never have known about it, because I am in no way involved or subscribed to country music, but my mum learned about it and passed it on to me and I’m so glad she did - it’s called ‘March March’ and is absolutely worth listening to but 100% MORE worth watching. It REALLY doesn’t matter what music genres you love or hate I really think you, like me, if you believe in activism and progressive change, will at least feel a little moved by this music video. It’s very well done and quite powerfully edited. Here’s the youtube link.

I'm in the process of getting my license and I'm doing some practicing on a driving simulator. My controller just died in the middle of an exercise so it started to veer off Into the opposite lane on the highway. It will crash when I reconnext it, meaning I'll have to do the whole lesson over again. ☹
