What the fuck was even Shadow Weaver's plan for when she'd send out Adora to beat up civilians, was she just gonna hope for the best
bad fucking plan
ew I squished a bug and its on my hand EW
Anyway I missed the screenshot but maybe I woulda had something to say about Adora saying "this is all a big misunderstanding" but I was distracted by bloodsucker bug
would it be fucked up to get a tattoo of the horde symbol on the back of my neck because I kinda want to, y'know, where the chip was
kinning is weird because it makes you feel like a metaphor for the character as much as the character feels like a metaphor for you
Also my girl always complains that Adora's whole wardrobe change is just removing what are practically swastikas from her clothes and proceeding to dress the exact same for the rest of her entire life which like yeah it is a little silly
The fact that Catra drives after children, through a house
Kinda mean of her
But then again when I do mean shit half the time people just go "Aw, she has the zoomies" and then we end up in the fucking hospital so maybe it's that kinda situation idk
Yeah no this is fair, you did try to kill a bunch of kids just then but this is a fair criticism she did NOT take care to get home before people noticed
Also how's a freak girl supposed to sleep without lesbo gf foot warmth, anyway, it was irresponsible and thoughtless of Adora to act this way
It can be both
You ever had something so awful happen to you that you can't help but laugh? It unlocks a new aspect of the concept of humour, it's pretty cool
One time my brother was telling me how he just laid on our mom's side of our parents bed while our parents were away and just started uncontrollably weeping
we still laugh about it
Using a LOT OF MY SCREENCAP BUDGET HERE but this is a pretty important scene
This is where Adora gets to feel betrayed by Catra. Adora has always felt like everything was as it should be, like everything was okay. She saw the status quo, and she didn't think it was great, but she thought it was normal.
Catra has always been struggling. Trying as hard as she can to keep her head above water with weights strapped to her ankles. Of course she knows things aren't okay. But having someone by your side who always looks to the silver lining is just-- nice. Even if she didn't think Adora knew how bad things were, what's the point in co-miserating when you could just have fun within the narrow margins you DO have? The falling out they have here is because Catra's just been apathetically knowing everything's wrong, and waiting for it to blow over. She's never felt okay.
Adora might not feel like Catra lied to her by not struggling against the horde, but she definitely is rudely awakened to the fact that the two have never felt the same about it.
Adora thought the horde was genuinely doing good for the world.
Catra knew the horde for what it was, but didn't care. It was awful, but it was what it was. What's the point in struggling against it if you'll be at the head of it eventually, anyway? Just gotta prove your worth. Figure it out from there.
Adora, realizing this difference between them, can't see Catra the same way. Not for a long time. Realizing someone you love hasn't told you about something wrong, something that's been hurting them deeply for a really long time-- Sometimes it really feels like a betrayal.
I've hurt people by doing that, plenty of times. I try not to, but sometimes, despite my yappy nature, "help," "sorry," "it hurts," "it's worse than that," "I can't do that," and "thank you" escape my vocabulary. Also "please."
Catra has a one-track mind when it comes to Adora. I'm sure we'll talk about the parallels plenty later, but the vitriolic jealousy that both Glimmer and Catra suffer from is very much a driving force for each of them early on.
Catra clearly has no idea where her life is gonna end up going, but she knows that it'll be her and Adora together, always. She doesn't want that to change, and she doesn't want to compromise for it, either. Her whole life has been grit your teeth and play the hand you're given. Adora's been playing with a stacked deck, even in the fright zone, and now she's just gonna go-- play cards with people Catra doesn't even know. If someone who makes you happy and promises you'll always be together changes their mind? If they go to find someone else who can make them happier?
Even if things are okay when you're alone it really hurts.
If things aren't okay when you're alone, it feels downright fight or flight.
There's ultra-specific reasons I'm fixated on this in a negative way but I can't tell you because it's secret and also would be trauma dumping and also it happened like last week and I am NOT over it >:(
Can you believe people said this show was an example of queercatching
Like people saw this in episode 2 and were like "nah that's not lesbian enough for it to count"
THE WAY THESE TWO FIGHT, BOTH PHYSICALLY AND OTHERWISE, IS MORE LESBIAN THAN SCISSORING COULD EVER FUCKING DREAM OF BEING
This is a very pathetic little last stand she has. Not pathetic in a derogatory way. In a pity way. Which I know very well she'd absolutely despise, but that's the truth.
You can't always have your identity and your safety at the same time. Sometimes that means you can't have your identity and your home.
Catra's found one way to survive. She's not willing to look for another, not after this one hurt so bad and took so long to find. Not while something this difficult still feels so unstable.
But she's-- wrong. And Adora doesn't have to stick with her and sort all of her issues out before she leaves. Even if that is tragic. Adora is entitled to her identity, as is everyone who was ever born. Asking someone not to be themselves for selfish reasons is horrifically cruel, no matter what space you're in or how scared you might be.
I think this is the first place I'd say Catra fully acts, outside of anyone else's whims or wishes, like a genuinely bad person. And I fully understand her reasons, her fears-- but that's not good enough. She'll learn, yeah-- She'll get to a place where she'd never say or think this, but we're not there yet, and Adora is right to leave her, no matter how much it hurts both of them.
This is another example where voice direction kinda does a lot. Look at this screen shot, and you'd think she sounds angry, but she sounds-- heroic. In a way we really don't hear until, like, season 5. She's not yelling "Adora" like she's mad that Adora got teleported away, she's yelling it with a worry and a desire to protect her. And considering what just happened, and what I just said, yeah. That's pretty sad.
There's a good person inside there, and she's not even buried very deep. But a shallow grave is still a grave. Dig your way out, kitty. And try not to get turned around.
turn the brightness on that fucking sword down you light-mode ass bitch
She really wants to kill whenever Adora isn't onscreen and honestly I really get it
Honestly quite incredible that Bow survives this
jesus christ she's bright
Anyway, this is a nitpick I have with this episode
Why's she know she can do this
Why is she so calm while doing this
She-ra is not a distinct entity separate from Adora, She-ra is merely an identity and a title that Adora inherited. A lot of people get the wrong idea early on that there's some sort of distinction between the two, and even later on it's kind of gone over as people kinda treat Adora like shit because she-- isn't She-ra. Adora's a hero, though. She-ra is just Adora but bigger wearing something that shows a bit more skin. It's closer to a secret identity thing than it is anything else. But in these first two episodes, it doesn't fully come off that way.
bitch what did I JUST fucking say
"I'm sexually frustrated so I'm leaving"
Anyway if these are gonna take me THAT long I'm done for today I might continue tomorrow we'll fuckin see okay
ALRIGHT SO
Here's how we're doing things, right? We're gonna go one episode at a time, and I'm gonna give my thoughts whenever they come up. This is a train of thought type beat, alright? Unlike my usual grandstanding authorial and analytical self, this re-watch is purely for the rant factor. If you don't know me, and you just happened upon this thread because you like reading she-ra rewatches, hello. I'm a writer from Canada who found she-ra in 2025 and is currently on her sixth watch through. From that, hopefully you can discern that I like this show, even if I'm likely gonna criticize parts of it. We good to go? Good. We start with S01 E01.
RIGHT, THE SWORD PART 1! A zoom in, with an angelic singing being drowned out by digital bloopy fright zone vibes, and then Adora being a fuckin dweeb as her leitmotif plays in a decidedly crystiline synth-y tone.
Now, what do we learn from this? This, aside from one gripe I'll have more to speak on later, is an excellent introduction. With the music alone we're essentially taken from the beauty of the planet, the overwhelming dread of the fright zone, and then into a hopeful tune that isn't FREE from these sort of digital themes in the music, but is very defined and separate FROM them.
This isn't gonna be one of those things where I praise literally every single fuckin thing so keep your panties on, I'm not gonna full-on overanalyzing avatar this shit, but the most important parts of a story are the beginning and the ending.
Now, when I say that, I am speaking pragmatically. Every part of every story is important-- but when it comes to what people remember, what they love, what they never shut up about-- it's the start and the end. You need to nail the take-off and the landing, people will forget the turbulence from the rest of the trip.
Now, what does THIS bitch's intro tell us about her? Well, a lot, honestly. Most of what we know about Adora at this point is she plays by the rules, but she is a notably goofy person. She's goofy, but she's unwilling to goof-OFF too much.
And while we get a taste of the rivalry they have instantly, with "That's low, even for you." "You know nothing's too low for me~"
We instantly see that that is not the CORE of their relationship.
I'd like to praise the voice direction in this show for the first of many times here. The voice actors do amazing work in this, and the direction can be felt throughout.
"Come on, you look stupid hanging there" can obviously be a seen as a strange first line to show the warmth these two share, but the inflection from Catra's voice actor, AJ Mikalcha, makes it read as downright sweet.
Also don't get used to me using names of the crew besides ND Stevenson because I'm so awful with names I was still calling Catra Katara half the time on my second re-watch and I was like 90% of the way to realizing I kinned her at that point
Also don't make fun of me for kinning Catra there's no RESPONSE to people making fun of you for kinning Catra THAT DOESN'T MAKE YOU SEEM MORE LIKE FUCKING CATRA OKAY
Anyway, the following scene makes it clear that this is not a one-way dynamic. The two banter, and it's clear Adora knows how to get under Catra's skin and annoy her as well. This is notable in a few places MUCH further on, but it is a difference worth highlighting NOW.
Once Adora leaves, Catra's primary goal is still to get under her skin. She's angry about it, she's mean about it, but she's still just doing what she's always done. The relationship between the two doesn't actually change as much as the context does. I'd say the relationship itself doesn't change much until the final season, at a scene I'm sure I'll have a lot to say about.
On the flip-side, Adora's goal when it comes to Catra is simply to fight her off. But that's not all there is. At points, it's clear that Adora holds some sort of REVERENCE for Catra, and while Catra is very capable of very mean things, don't get me wrong, Adora sees Catra as more of a threat than she realistically is.
At a few moments I'll point out she also relishes in getting under Catra's skin, but admittedly those are few and far between.
People have gone over this introduction billions of times, so I won't BORE you to death with it, but Shadow weaver's introduction does hint at a lot of what we'll learn later. I think it's very notable that while Shadow weaver brings a dark gloom that encompasses both our leads, her vile tendrils only dare to touch Catra. We learn the specifics of the dynamic these three have later, but it is a very unique and terrible situation to be the least favourite of an abusive guardian. Especially if you are repeatedly reminded of that fact.
I'm not gonna go over all the body language shit I've seen other text posts about it there's plenty of them a lot of focus in this show goes into tiny details where characters are constantly reacting to the world around them, and very rarely do we get lame stretches where anyone's face is just frozen and unflinching while they listen to someone else.
with all due respect to the setting at this point in time the bright moon rebellion is so pathetically anemic it's the two teens, some movie night lesbians, an immortal princess queen, and a bunch of fucking trees.
And you'd think the one carrying the team would be THE IMMORTAL PRINCESS QUEEN, BUT NO, ITS THE FUCKING TREES DOING ALL THE GOD DAMNED WORK
This introduction is fine. I don't particularly like it, nor have any strong feelings about it. It establishes the relationship between glimmer and her mother, but besides that it doesn't honestly do much. And don't come at me with "Uh, all it needs to do is establish that relationship?" Yeah, no shit, but we just had a better introduction to our other lead characters. And yes, those are the MAIN leads, the sort of heart of the show, but that doesn't mean that the other characters are unimportant. Glimmer's development later on is truly interesting, and Bow becomes a massively inspiring character. Fun jokey times are fine or whatever to show that they're immature and don't know the first thing about war, in contrast to our full-blown child soldiers raised from birth in the fright zone, but we really don't learn anything particularly INTERESTING about our best friend squad compadres in their intro, nor do we really see any of it until episode 2, to be frank.
This is something we don't actually see much of-- Catra has this ideal of being a conqueror, but it's very clear that she doesn't want that. Her threats are vapid and aimless-- She can enjoy some chaos, sure, but a shit-stirrer isn't gonna use that feces to build brick shithouses that they never intend to fall.
I think this should have been elaborated on more, personally. Catra is comically terrible with authority, and her plan, as stated later, is to wait it out until her and Adora are the ones calling the shots. But we don't really see what she thinks conquering even looks like, and it's not clear whether that's that she hasn't even imagined it and just likes evil words, or if she genuinely wants to rule with Adora as her Queen.
I gravitate towards the first, but that's partially because I wake up and post shit like "I want to destroy the world and rule its dust" and then forget I posted it when someone likes it 5 minutes later. If she do, in fact, as studies point toward, "be just like me fr," then I fully understand. If not, then I'd like to understand.
aw :(
Fuckin dweeb pulling the "my mom doesn't want me hanging out with you anymore" card
HA! Ah, what a bitch. Anyway, she's lashing out, but it's also quite tragic. A lot of people seem to think Adora IS, in some way, a people pleaser, but in reality she just has such an ingrained and violent sense of justice that she wants to right every wrong she has ever and will ever come across. She believes her validity is tied to what she can provide to the world, and she's got a natural sense of charisma, so it's natural for someone who refuses to blend in and naturally tends to put people off like Catra to have this view of her.
In reality, Adora is just-- a good person. And people LIKE good people. She's not a good person with an asterisk-- a good person with terms and conditions-- someone who falls into the definition of a good person while feeling and being treated like something else. Catra is the "a tomato is a fruit" of good people. Adora is just, like, a 1 dollar costco hotdog of a woman. An inarguable good treading water on this earth, no matter how hard it tries to pull her under.
Imagine falling for a brat with mad hops, like a fucking 50 foot vertical, you say you're too tired to play their favourite board game and they go hang out on your neighbour's roof, couldn't be me. Get fucked I guess
Yeah this is sad. Empathy is very much a learned skill, and people who don't learn empathy don't GET happy FOR people. Catra's not a complete person yet. She's not ready to be. That doesn't happen for a really long time, during an exceptionally long manic spiral. We'll get there, calm down, don't think about how far away that is and how much I've already yammered on.
Anyway, if you find yourself getting jealous or annoyed instead of getting happy for people, consider empathy isn't what you thought it was, and that you might still need to work on yourself.
fucking porno framing. Immensely sexual image, really. These bitches violently gay I suppose, I think I'm picking up on that during this sixth re-watch.
Buddy you got no idea how many problems those two already have you literally lose your little tiara at some point I think it ends up in the middle of a tree in space or something it's kinda unclear
Adora elbows her square in the nose during this so to everyone accusing Catra of physical abuse I just want it to be clear that Adora started it :/
Actually I'd like to retract that joke immediately because I know how people get about these two
My feelings are that they are literally child soldiers who were likely raised sparring each-other.
I was raised sparring other children and I ended up fine! Not for war, for Karate. And I didn't end up fine. And neither did they. Anyway, my point isn't even specifically that because this is sci-fi fantasy it's ridiculous to hold real life standards to it, it's more-so that because it's sci-fi fantasy there's extenuating circumstances that are going to affect how these two characters treat each-other. I'll go into hotter takes later, I'm sure, and get people to send me plenty of death-threats, but I'm gonna go into the nuances of exactly what forms Catra's abuse takes, and how it differs given by the separate circumstances we're shown the two in throughout the show.
my girl when I'm tryna live my best life playing as blue toad in mario 3d world
also holy shit we're only like halfway through this I am an AGONIZING yapper jesus fuck
Okay, what to say about lighthope-- well, their first words are "balance must be restored," far before they say Adora's name, so it somewhat lays out their secret priorities for us there. Besides that, I dunno, they got circuits on them? I don't have particularly strong feelings about lighthope, nor their introduction. I think they serve the setting and are written well, I just subjectively am not a sucker for the way they be. Their friendship with Mara is cute tho
I was gonna point out this is cute and how often I do this exact brat tactic but instead we data moshin, nothin wrong with a little data moshin, I'm down
This is the only reason she even wears a ponytail I'd stake my fuckin life on it
Once she leaves the fright zone that thing's fucking vestigial like a tailbone or having "any pronouns" in your bio when it's pretty clear you're very much a "she/they" type of bitch by now
glimmer why don't your windows have glass
or alternatively
how the fuck do you open and close that window
you can absolutely fucking hear her from this distance what on earth are you trying to pull
you a pillow princess tho how many of those arrows are just hitatchi magic wands attatched to a stick with duct-tape after the series ends do you think
The fuck you mean BOTTOM drawer we lookin at left and right here
or is this similar to my pillow princess comment and she's just addressing him and giving him an order
"Bottom; drawer."
It's established later on that he's a tech wiz but at this point in time they don't really give us much to lead us to the fact that he made that fucking thing
she's a freak
yes it's very sweet that she sleeps this way but I don't think it's some bdsm powerplay thing or anything like that, which would honestly be more tolerable, I think she's just like that
like how the way I'd sit in high school was to get two chairs and face them toward each-other then sit cross-legged across both
even if there weren't enough chairs to go around
people would sit on the FLOOR because I wanted to sit criss-cross-applesauce across two chairs, they wouldn't even ask for one of my chairs
also since I was sitting, again, cross-legged, it would have made more sense for ME to sit on the floor
I mean I think I got asked ONCE for one of the chairs and I just said "fine" but besides that people just let me sit on my fuckin throne
She really is kinda dumb, though. Like I ain't complaining, it's a character trait, but like obviously even if just you get in trouble Catra's gonna get blamed, you've seen it like at least once a month for your whole entire life
Mind you, can't really have Catra for the next part, because Catra's reaction to Bow and Glimmer wouldn't be "just let me have the sword" it'd be murder
oh wow we hit the image limit looks like we're doing TWO SEPARATE POSTS FOR THE VERY FIRST EPISODE YEE-HAW!!!!! THIS IS GOING TO TAKE ME FUCKING FOREVER

THE JUST JANUS-FACED
a/n: please PLEASE read the warnings this is darker than what i usually write. this spiralled from me thinking about geto having a blood kink and then me being on my period and then me word vomiting into whatever this is / tagging only @getousex and @papersirens bc i feel like they will maybe like something like this? not sure if my other moots like dark content like this aahh
wc: 2.3k
warnings: DARK CONTENT, DUB-CON, descriptive piece, cult leader!geto, slight coercion, manipulation, stockholm syndrome, idolising, reader is mute for a bit, reader has a fucked up perception of love, christian religious references / parallels, corruption but reader is NOT a virgin, pet names, mentions of murder, clit stimulation, fingering, oral / cunnilingus, blood kink (?), power play, cum eating, size kink, period sex and oral, unprotected sex, creampie / breeding kink, multiple rounds, n*sfw under the cut

cult leader!geto who unfortunately has had to kill fellow sorcerers before just for opposing his cause, so he knows what sorcerers’ blood smell like. it doesn’t make sense anatomically: how there’s less of a copper smell, sweet and more tangy, not that he’s tasted it before. but the memory of satoru’s dried blood had been seared into his brain, a crystal clear vision of him carrying riko’s body; one of the drives that leads him to change the world of jujutsu.
so why can’t geto get his mind off you and your terrified state, bleeding from your torso after you’ve been ripped from your village? he acts like he hadn’t just ordered his followers to rip the place to shreds, to banish any and every trace of non-sorcerers. he crouches down to look at your pathetic state, swiping a thumb over your bleeding lip, putting it into his mouth.
that’s the first time he recoils at the taste of non-sorcerer blood — after all, it’s your beauty that entrances him.
geto’s not too sure why he kept you, either, locked up in shackles so tight they make dents on your wrists, wound left to be tended only bit by bit every time suguru finishes his sermon for the day and comes back to his office.
the second time is after a terribly stressful day. his contacts were falling behind on collecting money, there were followers stepping out of line, nanako and mimiko unfortunately bothering him at the wrong timings. he loved his girls, but sometimes he needed time alone.
what better way than to spend it with his pet?
the gag around your mouth is growing increasingly saggy, weighing down from the saliva and geto bestows some mercy on you, removing the cloth and throwing it somewhere in the room. at least your senses were still there, hearing the loud plop! of the fabric on tatami mats, but you could only whimper when geto asks you a question.
god, you looked so dumb and stupid, geto could’ve just killed you easily, but he still hasn’t found out why you’ve got him wrapped around your finger. he would send you to hell after that, but for now he’d keep you until he knows.
geto coos at the whimper.
“what is it, sweetheart? spit it out.”
your brows furrow as you uncover the hand cupping your core. it was fairly red, a strong iron smell filling the place. it wasn’t from your terribly treated wound, no — you were so concerned with this you hadn’t realised it’s fully healed, “magically” — but rather, coming from your vagina.
you were menstruating. geto sighs, flicking his sleeves before heading out, and you think that’s the end of it. he was going to leave you bleeding out on the floor while your womb contracted and expanded uncomfortably? your thoughts are quelled a minute later when he returns and tosses you a sanitary product.
“go.”
but before you can run to the bathroom in the big temple he seizes your hand, licking a stripe up your palm. there’s obvious shock on your face, from the clear line on your palm made by his tongue and the way your blood smears on his lips. geto hums, and lets you go.
it’s not too bad.
the third is when you’re sleeping soundly on the floor, still in shackles that are visibly loosened. this is the next month where blood is being shed again, made less harrowing by the products geto swears he hates getting you, “reluctantly” refilling for you after nanako asked him not to take from her stash.
by now, you’ve mellowed, but you still rather have a tough time talking and articulating speech. he knew — it wasn’t hidden that your village was built on strong men, which also led to lesser people being oppressed, silenced. only speak when you spoken to, only leave when given permission. you weren’t a stranger to the harsh slaps that landed on your face.
it was only lucky that geto had already got such an obedient little plaything. you knew your place, having learned your place before, and you think maybe he might be your saviour, because the way he spoke was nothing like the men in your village. it was done with a lilt of the voice, a lyrical, melodic quality to it. his touches are gentle but firm, never rough and abrupt.
geto-sama knew how to treat lesser people like you.
that’s why when you’re whimpering again, geto knows just the right thing to get you to shut up (although, your cute sounds are maybe just what he might be looking for. should he kill you after he gets his keep? should he slit your throat? should he—)
he brings you to your feet a little forcefully, dispelling a curse to unlock your shackles and he pushes you onto the bed. you’re the centre of attention, suddenly, not used to being in such a big space: laid out on the silk sheets of the tatami bed. you felt dirty, tainted. you didn’t deserve to be on white, didn’t deserve to have your feet planted onto ivory, to have been cleaned time and time again by his workers. you didn’t even feel like you deserved to be kept in such a sacred place as geto-sama’s temple.
and yet, when you watch your saviour’s approaching, looming form, you can’t help think of how he’s taken care of you. the love he showed you was the closest thing you’ve ever gotten, maybe a little morbid by normal standards, but who are you to question your saviour? paired with that melodic, smooth voice and the cast of his hair down his back, maybe you were even attracted to your saviour.
that was a possibility, right? you can’t tell right from wrong any more but it doesn’t matter when geto slams his lips onto yours, kissing him back clumsily that he chuckles at your inexperience. even when you’re bleeding, you can feel your cunt throb and the feeling in your stomach increase — it was oh, so delicious, the same thing felt whenever he entered a room with that sick smile.
geto nudges you to remove your clothing, touches leaving blazing fires along your skin. he sighs when your breasts are on display, taking a nipple and swirling a tongue around it. so foreign, so good that you grab his other hand and he stops. ah, yes, you were still a monkey after all, no speaking when not spoken to — that translates to actions as well.
the lord resumes his ministrations, other hand reaching for your tits to massage the other, moaning into your chest before he kisses down your body. you panic, because aren’t you dirty? aren’t you bloody?
“let me relieve you, doll,” geto-sama was well deserving of being geto-sama. like how a lord should be, he is observant in seeing how your hand clutches your stomach on the first two days of your menstruation. what qualities of a lover— lord that is.
he coaxes you into removing your bottoms (“but geto-sama, my blood—”, “nonsense, leave it.”), peeling your underwear off you and the smell hits him almost immediately. the smell he’s friends with, that metallic tinge that hits his nose so disgustingly when he sees yet another act of unjust done by the weak, and yet when geto sees you spreading his legs for him, this hit of odour is nothing like the terrible scenes he’s caused.
no, he thinks that this is right and just, this is in the fates, this was the moment of justifiable pleasure received by a weak, lesser monkey only he could satisfy. he was your saviour after all.
but when geto’s tongue makes first contact with your cunt, he thinks maybe he was on the other side of the picture — him, as weak as a non-sorcerer, sentenced to the giving of pleasure to you.
geto moans when he first tastes blood, and then your slick, the combination more angelic than holy communion. he sucks on your clit and your grip could draw blood from how tight you clutched onto the sheets but you make sure your nails don’t dig in and bleed. geto-sama wouldn’t want that.
he flicks his tongue on your nub, large hands spreading your thighs apart with ease as the abuse on your clit is merciless. geto hums into your cunt, the lewd sounds of your blood mixed in with arousal just staining the room with a pungent smell of copper and sex.
geto gives no warning as he shoves a finger into you, your blood giving him easy access and in an instant the uncomfortable cramp in your stomach starts to subside. he was a god, you know, he’s your god, you think, but you aren’t sure if you’re stingy and self-centred enough to cage him for yourself.
a loud moan leaves you when he starts to thrust, not stopping the stubborn movements of his tongue.
“oh, what pretty noises,” geto drawls, mumbling into your cunt, “your little pussy is being real loud as well, huh?”
you whimper at the lewd language, always being brutally and cruelly targeted towards you in your village, and yet when they’re spoken so filthily and intently to you — you can’t help but nod.
“need you to tell me how bad you want it, pet.” geto teases, knowing you hardly speak, but it’s an invitation, right?
your saviour adds a second finger and a mewl escapes your mouth, incoherent babbles that sounded like gibberish. oh, you really were too cute.
“that feel good, ain’t it?” he whispers, licking his lips and spreading the taste of your blood around his mouth. he smiles at your second nod.
“then tell me. what. you. want.” the command is straight, now, and if it weren’t for geto going back to suckle on your clit alongside his two fingers pumping in and out of you, you’d cower.
“want—” you moan, the squelching noises of your pussy increase in volume and the sound of his palm making contact with his chin is sinful, dirty, exactly what you were.
geto loved dirty.
“want your cock in me, geto-sama.” so, you did know the words, heart pounding so loud it resonates in your head; you wonder how you manage to even say it so clearly, so confidently. where did those words come from?
“want you to fuck me, and use me, please, geto-sama.”
your god’s smile widens into a grin and he wastes no time removing his gojo-gesa, his robes, fishing his cock out from his underwear with one hand while the other continues to lazily move in and out of you. you stare like a dumb little dog, excitement obvious by how you clench around his fingers and bite your lip.
all monkeys were so fucking predictable. your village, your parents, yo—
geto is proven wrong again when he first slips in, blood spilling from your cunt that he doesn’t exactly care if it’s because of your menstruation or your tight little pussy being stretched so far to accommodate his fat, heavy cock, but the warmness of your cunt is just so goddamn divine, he has to take a deep breath to brace himself.
“feel better already?” he fawns over you, over the bulge showing in your stomach. it showed how deep he was in you, in your womb, and you clench again at the feeling of being filled up. geto’s hips start to set a pace, rocking into you with groans of his own.
“s-so much better, geto-sama,” the smile you give him is drunk, horridly in love with your saviour who did nothing but manipulate, but you could hardly care for the morals of this world when his pre-cum filled cock hits your spots so well. his pubes and hips that meet yours are coated with blood, the scent of it increasing the longer he uses your body like a fucktoy, a reverberating pap! pap! pap! of his balls slamming into your ass.
“pussy so fucking good—” geto cums first with a loud groan, filling your womb with his seed that’s viscous and hot, and the heat of your cunt doesn’t stop him from moving, flipping the two of you over and you’re screaming in the process, body jolting from the sudden orgasm. geto grunts as he feels you spasm around his dick, switching to a violent ram up into your pussy — you’re atop him now and you suffer the pussy drunk thrusts he gives you, one after the other into your dripping hole.
it’s so messy, so dirty and so fucking revolting, your bleeding cunt mixed with his cum forming strings that connect your pelvis to his, the soiled sheets of red and translucent below you — your god’s hips falter and still, cumming for a second time so quickly geto has to make sure he’s still the right person after this.
your eyes are way back in your skull, head tipped backwards onto his shoulder and outstretched for all gods to see, and yet, geto suguru was your one and only definition of divinity. a man of wisdom, charm. you’re jerking and gasping when you feel his cum spill out of you and you’re reaching that intoxicating high all over again, geto-sama, geto-sama, geto-sama, like a chant on your lips.
it was like worship in the common room, and yet this was different, entirely, because you were getting purified and corrupted all in one sitting, by geto-sama’s cock.
geto grins and smothers himself in your cunt once you’re climaxing and eats the blood and cum out of your pussy, oozing out right onto his tongue and the mixture of it is like a sick little concoction of sin and virtue — exactly what the two of you were.
good and evil, blessing and curse, god and devil. except, geto suguru wasn’t sure what title he fell under, any more.
oh, no, not when he had you.

So, obviously, after the seven-year timeskip, Ezran and co are going to finally reunite with Harrow/Pip, right?
I was thinking at first the last quasar diamond could potentially be used on him, but 1) Harrow’s not technically dead, and 2) it would remove Ezran’s agency as king, correct?
So, what if them reuniting gives the boys a chance to have closure with losing/parting with him (similar to Rayla with Tiadrin and Lain), and he (Harrow) ends up sacrificing himself in some way to both save them and finally get to be reunited with Sarai…?
Pssst! Also, attached to my last ask… you are always awesome!!
(You are awesome too!! Thank you for sending this in)
So the last time I talked about the bird theory extensively was this ask, which is one of the funniest ones to read retrospectively, I think, given S7. That said, I always thought it was Possible they'd find a way to do a "Harrow may fully come back" plotline and have it work for me, and well... Ezran being like 20 after 7 years in limbo and the imminent end of the world on the horizon? Yeah, that checks all the boxes.
After all, it was always very clear (as said in meta linked above) that SOMETHING had happened. You don't remove Pip from the story and keep him removed unless you have a (world shattering) reason to. You don't have the characters steadily get all the spells and ingredients you need to restore "bodies to separated spirits" (5x04) and have Claudia lampshade it (5x09) unless you want it Go somewhere. (Plus the three father potential parallels of Harrow, Runaan, and Aaravos being reborn through the quasar diamonds, and then those three + Viren being reborn and fundamentally changed through death? Yeah. Yeah)
So I think I'd be wholly okay with like 19-20 year old Ezran who bore the brunt of the kingship the past ten years (his childhood/adolescence) now being freed from that burden or shouldering it alongside his father (getting the chance to be a kid and have his dad all over again) as, like you and I have both indicated, it'd likely impact Ezran's arc the most (the way he was the most impacted in s7, the way they did it preserving the consequences for Runaan's actions). Nothing will ever erase the grief Ez went through or the experiences/sacrifices he's had to make as king, after all, even if Harrow does come back.
HOWEVER, Lain and Tiadrin taught me not to count my chickens before they're hatched. I could, for example, see some alternatives wherein:
The final quasar diamond is used for Kpp'Ar (maybe by Claudia) and Harrow stays on as an advisor in a bird (relying on Ezran's animal communication for speech)
Harrow is released from the bird and allowed to reunite with Sarai
I lean towards the second one in some ways (in a lot of ways, Harrow traded the prison of the crown—"Hold on, you're not free. The king has to pose for one more" / "and that is for you and Ezran to be free"—for another of his beloved bird) but could see any working out. We'll just have to wait and see!
#thanks for asking#nothingmorethanageminiboar#king harrow#arc 3#bird theory#requests#predictions#analysis series#analysis#it is taking the 'xadian / regular creatures are People too and dark magic is accordingly Bad' to the next level (implicitly) though

I’ve been cooking an au that I doubt I’ll write but I certainly have been drawing.
I’ve been working on it for weeks now but finally have thought of how I want to start sharing it. For now, I can show the end results of hours and hours of messing with speculative biology and deciding the roles and plot.
The basic idea as far as this post will show is the iterators are bio mechanical creatures combining iterators and orca whales created by an aquatic race of ancients. Local groups act as pods but Suns was separated from his and joined Moon’s. I had tons of versions (mouth placement and where to start or end the whales and how iterator to make them verses how human or how whale) but I think I like where the concept ended up.
A deeper explanation is bellow but know that, beyond the speculative biology I had a lot of fun with, it does involve discussion of real world and in-universe animal cruelty. Specifically Orcas in captivity and how they have been shown to suffer- not for long or in much detail but certainly could be upsetting.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On mobile the more doesn’t show here so pause and check the warning the warning above before reading
!!!!!!!!!!!
In one of my discussion based environmental science classes, the professor was having us discuss Orcas in captivity because she recently published a paper on it and, as is typical for me, I cope from how completly tragic and upsetting a topic is by relating them to my hyperfixation of the time.
Orcas in captivity are some of the only other animals known to self harm. They also notoriously harm eachother and their trainers. One of the main reasons they suffer so much is because they are so A)smart and B)social. The lack of stimulation and enrichment combined with being locked in a too small space, removed from their natural environments and purpose.
That connected to how I’ve always felt like that reasoning is part of why Pebbles does as mentally horrible as he does. He is a smart supercomputer trapped in a single place, the main consciousness stuck in a single room because the rest of the building is his body so he can’t simply leave it behind. He once had so many processes and tasks, taking care of the ancients and seeking the great solution- created late enough to have certainly been effected by his creators’ impatience. He’s also a rare case of not being fully in charge of himself and is limited on resources due to his location. His existence was also controversial. When the ancients left he was left with too much time and processing power and not enough to do with it. His self isolating habits certainly would not help. Even though they are stationary nobody can convince me iterators don’t couldn’t as social species when they were made to collaborate with each-other and their citizens.
He hurts others (especially moon) and himself because he feels frustrated and trapped. Orcas hurt themselves and others in captivity for similar reasons. Orca health deteriorates horribly in captivity, Pebbles is not physically or mentally healthy for any of the time we see him in canon. Pebbles is practically in captivity, he would do horrible in it. The dehumanization would also hit hard, he would have being treated like a simple animal- and Orcas being treated like simple animals when they are so smart and social is horrible. It just- it just clicked in my brain and now this au is clawing its way out of my head!
Thinking of those parallels lead to wanting to make an Au where Pebbles is an orca in captivity. I went back and forth on if the other iterators would take the place of humans or if they would be Orcas as well (and if they would also be in captivity) and the roles of the slugcat characters a lot. But I decided to have a modern/anthro au for Slugcats and scavengers on the surface and the iterators all remaining in the ocean until Pebbles is captured.
In future art I will go more into detail on the plot and other characters but that’s it for this one. Tho, feel free to send me asks about the AU! Since it’s not planned to be a fic I don’t have to be coy with plot points and don’t have a real way to share details outside of Tumblr :p
Just call it “the rotting in captivity au”, “orca au” or “captivity au”

My little pony has some very interesting parallels to American politics, I want to make this point but I have no idea where to start.
Like the way equestria acts like it’s the arbiter of all friendship across the whole world and that they have some moral obligation to spread friendship to the other species. Seems very manifest destiny to me ngl.
Equestria big time exorcising both hard and soft power to manipulate world events to fit its goals. Hard power being like the control of the sun and moon and soft power being things like twilights friendship school and equestria clearly being the cultural center of the world and also the largest and richest nation.
Also the very real racism that exists in g4 of mlp really sets the tone for this too in my opinion. Like not horse racism real racism i.e. characters like Zecora and the bison who were a stand in for indigenous Americans and seemingly just a backdrop for the “cowboy pony” characters. It feels very gross that there are a lot of episodes where the plot is “we need to learn to be friends with these people even if they’re scary and different” when often the “different” characters are racist caricatures. Again a great example is the episode where zecora is introduced because it’s literally “all the horses are scared of the zebra” when the horses are a clear stand in for white people and zecora is like a vague gesture at African culture.
Also despite having the largest economy, most cultural influence, and literal power over day and night equestria is always posturing itself to be the innocent victim. Like it’s always “we’re so scared of the dragons, we’re so scared of the griffons, we’re so scared of the storm king or discord or any of the other villains.” When the subtext would suggest that every other nation would be terrified of equestria because if you get on equestrias bad side you get nuked by the elements of harmony and if that’s not enough one of equestrias monarchs could just drop the moon on you or cook you alive with the sun. But they just like go around acting as if they don’t have all this power, but then also act like the worlds friendship police.
Another good example of soft power is definitely starlights first couple episodes. because like whether or not you think she had a point while the whole cutie mark removal thing there is something to be said for the fact that it definitely seems like the cutie mark system feeds into equestrias economic interests. And like if it really didn’t matter, and the 20 or so pony’s living in a tiny self sufficient village not hurting anyone living unconventionally were just making a poor decision for themselves why weren’t they allowed to continue that. Why did equestria send all six of its most powerful assets to completely destroy starlights community and her entire ideology. It seems like any threat to the status quo equestrian imposes is automatically treated like enemy number one.
I think the most interesting thing about these themes is that they were all obviously unintentional. Like I don’t the any of the creators made any of these decisions consciously at any point, maybe besides the parallel between starlights ideology and communism/socialism being so damn in your face. I think it just comes from like the mentality that Americans are the main characters so therefore the main characters of our horse show will be like Americans. Thank you for coming to my rant.

One thing that really depresses me is like... of the pokepastas I've read, there's ones that touch on the way Game Freak has handled its early girl trainers - Leaf/Green never being added to the final product, Kris being entirely overwritten by Lyra as a concept in the remakes. And honestly I feel like these are concepts that have potential for some good pokepastas!
The only thing is... every one I've read that delves into these concepts sort of. Falls into the exact trap of the very thing it's warning against/calling out?
I do think there's a merit to that - what's more existentially upsetting than the reality that girls and women alike are forced into situations by the greater system they're forced to live in, after all. Exploring that theme can be a way to catharsize that struggle. So I don't mind that approach on its own.
But none of the ones I've seen let the girl character have any agency, or even the ability to be fallible or nuanced? Ok, ok a lot to ask from a pokepasta, but hear me out.
Yes, the very genre of pokepasta means ultimately all the characters are in Situations and barely anyone has control or agency beyond an extent. But even so there are those that do either via the narrative or as the point of the pokepasta - Strangled Red, Blue Tears, Glitchy Red and Your Friend Silver - to name a couple that just. Allow the protagonist to take some semblance of control, if only for a moment. Usually this "control" is in the form of violence, which like. Is a whole other tangent we don't need to get into.
But when Green/Leaf or (to a lesser extent) Kris are the focus characters? Anything they do is futile, and their fates are forced upon them. And when the narrative is paralleling real world treatment, it just doubles in amount. Oh, so Green/Leaf isn't even meant to exist? Then we'll make the entire direction of the pokepasta be about how the game forcibly erases/deletes her from the story! Nothing remains, and not once do any of her attempts to fight this fate succeed in any way - not that any evidence of her struggle would remain even if she did somehow claim even the tiniest victory.
After seeing a few stories with this same narrative now, it moves past being cathartic and into just plain depressing for me. More examples of media calling out poor treatment of women that just sort of reinforce the treatment.
Like yeah, okay. Pokepastas aren't MEANT to be motivational or feel good. But at least give me a Leaf who takes revenge. Give me a Glitchy Red angle where she overtakes and rewrites the game to delete him instead of vice versa. She's the champion on Mt. Silver even if she's breaking the GSC game to do it. Kris taking over Lyra's place in HGSS and denying that her replacement ever existed. Hell, even just letting the girls lash out and damage/kill the other boys before the game sends them to pixel eeby deeby would be nice. Green gets to take down Red in a final way, but that's when she gets forcibly removed because that's literally the only way the game can prevent her from taking it over at expense of the greater world.
Give them agency, control, power. Make them fearful figures, make them desperate, not in some palatable meek way where they deep down accept their fate, or can only voice their displeasure without acting on it. Let these girls go apeshit for once. If Blue Tears or Strangled Red can have the protagonist kill in cold blood and still be liked and sometimes even sympathized by the fandom, so can these.
Tl;dr aren't you tired of the girl protags being nice? Don't you just want them to go apeshit?
(Also as an important final note - this is NOT bashing any pokepastas for these themes ultimately! It's not a case of any one being poorly written or thought out! I want to call out the consistent Trend as my issue, not say my issue is with the authors or pokepastas that have already done this! Likewise I don't say this as in the male-focused examples I listed are Better - but I'm using them as known examples of tropes that succeed in the genre that AREN'T just Things Happening To The Protag.)
#ramblingonandon#pokepasta#long post#i am not tagging the ones I'm referencing bc again not trying to call out people's writinh#if people want to know so they know where my bias is coming from thats ok but this is not meant as criticism to those works on their own#so no point sticking it in those tags#trainer leaf#trainer green#trainer kris#pokemon creepypasta#creepypasta

BSD Ch 120.5 Thoughts and Speculations- Fyodor's Plan
For the last few chapters, we've seen rinse-repeat of Ame-no-Gozen taking out anyone who stands in Fyodor's way. Teruko, Kenji, Kunikida, Tanizaki, and now Fukuzawa. But where are they being sent to? Why do they liquefy instead of just leave behind a body? In the previous chapters, we learn that Ame-no-Gozen is a being on a completely different plane of existence then our heroes. In chapter 120.5, Fyodor is able to manifest Ame-no-Gozen by folding across the fourth dimension. Fyodor basically can break the fourth wall, just run with it. I'm tired of constantly being surprised at what this man can do. Ame-no-Gozen also wields the divine sword which makes him even more powerful. What if the divine sword transports its victims to another plane of reality? If the divine being is of another dimension as Fyodor claims, then I don't think it's that implausible to suggest that our heroes are simply in another dimension. If that is the case, then there has to be a way to bring them back. If Ame-no-Gozen can be created, then Atsushi will figure out how to unliquefy his friends. Of course, we don't know if all of them can come back or if there's a price to be paid but knowing Asagiri-sensei, they'll be fine (ish).
Fyodor in this chapter is also really leaning into his inner Raskolnikov this chapter. For those who don't know, Rodion Raskolnikov is the main protagonist of Dostoevsky's famous novel Crime and Punishment. Throughout the novel, he grapples with his conscious after he decides to kill an old woman. When he was a student, Raskolnikov wrote about a theory that there are extraordinary people and that they can remove certain people from society without any consequences. He believes that the woman he killed had no value to society. In this chapter, Fyodor reminded me of Raskolnikov because we see how he decides he has the right to get rid of all ability users and he will do this, no matter how violent his methods are. But unlike Raskolnikov, Fyodor doesn't experience any sort of cognitive dissonance for his actions.
Fyodor reveals to a horrified Fukuzawa that he intends to rid the world of ability users by pitting them against regular humans in war. The outcome of said war will be a new world with no ability users- all of them will have been wiped out. It's a contradictory statement from Fydoor, that from the ashes of war he will bring peace.
There has been a theory that Fyodor is some sort of deity or devil and after this chapter, I believe it. Fukuzawa himself says he can't see Fyodor as human. That just leaves the question, what exactly Fyodor? His character is filled with religious symbolism and there have also been parallels to Ivan and the devil from The Brothers Karamazov. As much as Fyodor drives me up a wall, I will not deny that he's a fascinating and rich character.
He tells Fukuzawa "eternal peace, born of world war" (Asagiri, 2024). Someone needs to send me a good analysis on why Fyodor hates ability users so much. I know he views abilities as bad, but there's more to it than that. Idk. I just find his plan so horrifying and watching all the pieces come together makes it even worse. Additionally, why does Fyodor view the Tiger as beautiful? If the Tiger wasn't connected to the Book, would he care as much about it? Probably not. I have so many questions.
Anyways, final point. People have been brining this up and it actually does shed some light one what could happen. Fukuzawa is gone for now. However, there is hope... sort of? I'm assuming "All Men Are Equal" has lost its power because Fukuzawa was killed. This means that both Atsushi and Kyouka are now in interesting predicaments. Kyouka and Lucy are trapped in Anne's Room since it's the only thing between them and being crushed by rubble. Prior to joining the ADA, Demon Snow was controlled by someone calling Kyouka's phone instead of Kyouka herself. Mayhaps someone utilizes this to help free the pair from Anne's Room? In Atsushi's case, he can't control the Tiger and doesn't remember turning into Byakko. However, Byakko is no longer being reined in by "All Men Are Equal." So, could Atsushi now get a significant power boost which will help him snatch the page from Fyodor and Gozen x2?
I think the power of an uncontrolled Byakko and now a changed Aku could lead to a major battle with Ame-no-Gozen and that's what we see in the BSD S5 epilogue. Maybe Fyodor gets away and the pair fight. Who knows what can happen now. A part of me believes we could get a glimpse into a world without ability users. Perhaps that's where Gozen's victims are sent. Maybe Fyodor does win temporarily and we do get a post-ability user world. I hope we get a conclusion soon because there's a lot of repetitiveness right now.
Anyways, that was really long. What do you guys think?
(also, where is everyone else and are they ok? I'm surprised Francis hasn't blown up the airport yet because that's something he would do. He knows he's outmatched and screwed right now)

Hii just want to say again how much I loved your George fic
Could you explain more about the original version of the story? Were there any parts that you really wanted to add but they just didn't fit in the end?
thank you again :3 youre amazing and wonderful and thank you for sending in this ask :3 this is long so imma put this under a cut
i originally talked about it much more in detail here. this includes the general plot and the intro :> and there's also this short animatic-ish thing i did with one of the songs in the playlist, marina's are you satisfied?
the main thing that was omitted that i feel is too important for me to exclude from at least this universe is that. well, as tumblr user georgierre i think it's obvious. the reason pierre was omitted is mostly because i didn't want to make this fic too centered on a romantic relationship, since the original had them as an established couple. actually, in my drafts, the au was called "the phone call au" because it was literally just about how george and pierre navigated an established relationship through a phone call, which mirrors the fic i based the plot on (for all the honest world to feel).
the relationship they have is very nuanced and needs a lot of attention for me to be able to do it with justice, so i decided to just Remove it. i did manage to find out what i'd like to do with them, and i think i can do it if ever i write a pierre pov— i call it the "pierre radicalization arc" LOL. it wouldn't be established but all i can say is for now, pierre has liked george for a very long time.
another part of my fic i REALLY wanted to write from my original outline is a midway point interlude, where nicky leaves george for a few days because he wanted to watch the silverstone gp. the only reason this was omitted is because sandy, nicky's girlfriend plays an important role here as well, but only makes the most narrative sense when we include pierre in this since i made them narrative parallels.
instead of toto figuring out about george at a random tesco, nicky basically gets summoned left and right at silverstone because of the rumors that george is staying with him. it starts with alex, then pierre, then toto, and i actually have a bit of the toto scene written out:

on the other side, sandy surprise visits nicky's flat (knowing george is there, so it's ok) because she wants to prepare for his birthday. so while nicky's off tending to pierre, sandy helps george in london. she makes him watch the barbie movie in this iteration LOL.
some things i've omitted explaining in detail were at least added into the final version in small bouts, like the mention of george's holiday epiphany, or him disassociating in hungary. they're a little lengthy so i'm just saying you are ALWAYS free to ask me more stuff to expound specific points, because i know i wouldn't be able to fit them in one post. i genuinely mean that, nothing would be too annoying :3
lastly, there were things in the new version that also got omitted. what's funny is the slumber party was supposed to happen after george's nightmare, but i thought it was too optimistic or contrasted too much. another, was that there was supposed to be a rain scene! like, a scene that's supposed to represent them curing their lost childhood by playing silently in the rain, inspired by bluey's rain episode (hence why the song is in the playlist near the end + the ig post in the end mentions the episode song). it was supposed to happen after they watch preludes, then when i felt it too tonally off, especially since we don't see george express his thoughts abt preludes, i tried moving it before they left for são paolo, but that also felt too off. i just decided to hint at it, while i made the slumber party scene their true reclamation of childhood.
anyway, that's all i could think off for now! again, anyone is free to ask me or message me about the universe :]

I see all people talking about Belos problems only, and make no mistake I will talk about it too. There’s many things you can say about what character he is and how show plays with him. But let’s talk about other things for a moment.
Am I the only one who thinks that the whole Collectors vs Titans thing is just stupid? Okay, maybe stupid is too much, but it’s just very strange.
In WaD Collector tells us that he and his siblings were doing they cosmic stuff, then his siblings find out about Titans and that they can fight off their magic, they send Collector to little titans, he played with them, then his siblings came and took them all(despite the fact that Collector’s magic doesn’t work on Titan, which didn’t stop him from cast illusions on King somehow), Collector, for some reason didn’t follow them, and then Papa Tita Lyn came, looked around, didn’t saw his kids, saw the Collector and immediately thought that “Well there’s no one here so I guess you did something to my children, so I will put in a space dish.”. And they just left in on that. I thought “okay, it’s collector’s perspective, let’s hear what will Titan say.”, and then Titan is just “Whoops! I attacked the wrong person!”.
Excuse me, what? So he literally just attacked poor kid because there was no one else around to attack? And when exactly he realised he attacked wrong guy? They show that Titan sits in In Between Realm and in season 2 they showed us that Collector was there too. Did they like talked there and Titan was like “Oh, you DIDN’T do anything with my kids, it was your evil relatives? Well that’s pretty awkward now, that I put you in a space dish. But I’m dead now so I can’t pull you out. Sorry!”.
The most baffling thing is that expect us to just accept that he make a mistake and we must forgive him, because at least he was genuine in his desire to protect his kids. The kids that were already taken away.

ok, so i have mixed opinions on the titan and collectors storyline.
now, i do think the concept as far as worldbuilding goes, is really cool. It implies a larger world outside of the titan the show resides on and i adore the designs of both creatures within this universe. I think having this battle among gods that happened eons ago and led to the world in which the isles resides in is something that does add to some of the characters. I love the collector cult, i love that eda's owl beast was a victim of this war who carries resentment to this day about it, i don't even mind king being tied into it.
I think the show set all this up, pretty neat in s2.
But i think it fell off for me in s3.
Like you can kinda tell collector was not supposed to be in the show because really, you could of removed him and changed a few things around and the story could work just fine, king realizing he's a titan can still be used....but this battle among gods really is something that feels a lot more last minute and his relationship with collector wasn't vital to his character that it NEEDED to be there.
it's not like the wittebane story were most of the characters feel ingrained into it, with parallels, and carrying mementos that belonged to them, and living in the same towns, and most of them being distantly related to them.
And i was invested enough in the titan and collector drama, but i really don't think they stuck the landing for me.
WAD especially felt like a mess of a lot of weird inconsistencies and character actions, and it's probably why i sadly didn't automatically click with it like most of the fans seemed to. And while i've talked about belos regarding that, collector and titan dad are probably the other characters that i would say are a mess in this finale.
Now see, i can accept using magic ON titans, i think the assumption is that they only repel collector magic with magic, so if king isn't using magic he's more vulnerable. Granted, i think titan dad's existence has made titan magic more confusing and a lot more overpowered that if we DO get more toh content, we might run into more issues.
i don't wanna drag this post TOO long tho, so if you want me to list all the confusing details that aren't clear or consistent with titan magic you can ask later.
point being, i have less an issue that the collectors got them as much as that this scenario happened and that despite this, and despite knowing the cult, and also being sad about king talking about the titans being wiped out....that the show then says he doesn't understand the concept of death? Like for his arc in WAD to work, you have to believe he doesn't know how death works, but then he has moments like these were you have to ask how? If he thinks they can be saved you think he'd have a different reaction, you'd think he'd try to revive them, why would he feel guilty over them being "Wiped out" if he has no idea what that means and he knows it can be fixed in his head. His whole arc rests on this detail and a lot sorta bungles it.
Like they have this whole scene where collector is supposed to think king is out to get him (As kinda pointless as it was really), but like....if collector doesn't get death....what does he think king means by "Permanent solution" that he gets so upset about it? Cause he heard king say no imprisonment so like....?????
not to mention the chapter about genocide he scribbled out, like what does he think genocide is if he doesn't get death? why does he get so upset about it?
you can totally have this story about an immortal god who learns about death, but with all these extra details it becomes harder to understand why collector doesn't get it and it becomes a bit hard to believe. Is he meant to be in denial? it doesn't seem like that was the intent?
collector also is the point where you notice the trend for redeeming characters in this show tends to be revealing they were just manipulated the whole time, making them a lovable goofball, and them being in the gang. It was fine when it's just a couple times, but it does wear out it's welcome when you realize a lot of them don't get too really account for their actions all to much.
Collector does apologize, but really that's the extent of it outside of turning people back, he just kinda leaves everyone to deal with part of his mess. it would of been nice to have one villian who admits they are at fault without it being blamed on someone else and gets screentime to repent. (Lilith is the closest but she is mostly gone after s1)
now, in PT's case, we never see the scene itself to know how it came off, and i think the intention is for him to come off flawed so him attacking collector in rage could kinda work. But it also is contrasted by his scenes treating him as objectively right outside of this one thing, so even tho the attempt was to turn him into just a dude capable of mistakes, the show kinda still ended up leaning on him being a bit too perfect still for me.
Which doubly is weird because yeah, him being in the inbetween opens a WHOLE can of worms, like how come he doesn't use those cubes ever to talk to anyone on the show? If he has control over showing glyphs, why did ne never do it to anyone besides luz? is it just because of king because he didn't do it for eda? Also how come the other dead titans aren't there with him? Like is this an adult titan thing because some of the skulls looked like they could be from some adults?
The whole thing makes it sound like he didn't care to help until his son was involved, and even then, when he found someone he liked to ask to help.
and hey, i could be cool with the idea the titan is a bit selfish and just cares about who she cares about, and not most other citizens of the isles, but it doesn't come off like that was the intent either.
and yeah, it does raise the question why the titan never just....talked to collector in his prison? like how much power does he have in that place? am i supposed to believe she can't move from that spot? Can he not use the cubes to talk to collector? there's no clear concept of the limits in this episode so you just ask why TD doesn't do certain things the show never proves he can't do.
introducing a figure in this way recontextualizes the whole show now, so now you have to think back and wonder more things like this knowing this info.
i think had we seen titan dad do it in a flashback, and maybe it was a moment of anger and non thinking it could work actually, but we don't get that so that leaves us to think many different things and those all can give us different opinions on her character.
so i think we both have issues, but different kinds of issues.

Because I am way too anxious to bring this up off anon, I come to your inbox bearing anonymous musings.
Something I don't see a lot of is.. Link being anxious about the child prodigy that Tulin has always been. We see in HW: AoC and TOTK that Tulin, from a young age, has a lot of talent, and abilities most Rito don't have. Teba is a skilled warrior, but I can see Tulin, in his prime, easily surpassing that.
And Link gets to see that. Link gets to watch Tulin grow, helps the fledgeling grow, nurtures the adventurous warrior spirit of a boy who'll certainly fight alongside him someday, and someone he'll be proud to have there.
But the problem comes when ToTK comes around, and Tulin becomes a sage. I personally can see Link, maybe intentionally, maybe not, projecting who he once was, kinda still is, onto Tulin. This child prodigy, amazing with his favored weapon from the very start, slated to save the world, and all too willing to do it. And Tulin makes it clear that Link inspired Tulin's willingness, helped the fledgeling become fearless.
I think about the paralels between Tulin and Link very often. And, in my interpretations, as proud as Link is of Tulin for becoming a fine young man.. He can't help but remember how he used to be, when he pulled the Master Sword. And in the final battle, when Tulin is knocked out with the rest, I wonder if he thinks about how he brought a child, practically his little brother, into a situation where he could so easily die.
Sorry for the ramblings- i've been scrolling through your blog and thinking about your color hc especially and. I guess it sparked a bit of a brainrot "^^
first off: hello, hi! please don't ever be sorry for sending in an ask like this — i love discussing meta with others, especially on a level of engagement like this. i wish it'd happen more, really! genuinely, if you have more thoughts you'd like to share, i'd love to hear them out!!
okay okay, time to address your delicious content. i'm a botw and totk link enjoyer more than i am writer, so i can't give too many thoughts about him from my end ( would be stoked to hear any input from actual link writers though...eyes emoji ), but you came to the right place for tulin brainrot [rubbing my hands together]
you're right in a lot of aspects, particularly about the parallels between link and tulin. it's why i find their dynamic so compelling and crave to always play around with it, because it's at once they are fambly!! and this is who you could've been if given unconditional support and love — that you partake in because you are what you're trying to ensure he will never have to grow up to be.
( tulin also notably shares many parallels with revali! one in particular that tickles me silly whilst also making me emo is like. how irreverent they are? because they put so much stock in hard work and meaningful results...revali has his knight with the darkness-sealing sword that he can't fathom putting such an alarming amount of faith in as the "key to defeating calamity ganon" when all he's done to earn that title is pull a sword; tulin has his stormwind ark that his people are pinning all their hopes on for no reason other than it appears in a Song, when they're basically starving and struggling and could be doing something actually substantial ( disclaimer: they are both unreliable narrators ). aside from age and other obvious character intricacies, they're pretty much one banger support system removed from being each other...but that's a ramble for another time sldfkjld )
and yes, totk made it very clear that tulin and link are familiar to that extent! i am still so thankful for it! we'll never know the specifics, but honestly, the mere act of giving tulin someone else — someone more present and tangible than revali ( at least until aoc sldkfjdf but after that as well! ) — to chase after and strive to be like would've been impactful enough on its own!! and yeah, he has his dad too, but what teba represents is very different from what link represents!
link projecting onto tulin in that way is a concept i'm glad you brought up, because it would for sure add another great layer to their relationship! all those complicated emotions...yessss, i eat it all up!! and i can definitely see how far link's feeling of responsibility over tulin would stretch, both as someone caring for a kid and as someone caring for his little brother, but the thing is...tulin would be doing his damnedest to be there even if link — or anyone, including his parents — said no.
tulin's hierarchy of people i want to be like and surpass is still, to this day: 1) revali <- 2) teba <--> 2.0001) link. and while link's absolutely been a huge inspiration in important departments, tulin's pluck, drive, and eagerness to do whatever he can is and has always been all his own. link may help enable him, but tulin has consistently not been able to stand by and do nothing if he can help it! combine this with his legitimate skills and cultural values — i.e. how integral warriorhood is to the rito — and you get a preteen who is going to be there with you 'til the end, as he promised, whether you or anyone else likes it or not :')
WHICH, you know, could feed into the parallels...and hence the projection...they would benefit from a real sit-down-and-talk, probably slfdldk and if nothing else, i hope link takes heart in the fact that tulin has a sincerely great support system in his family and community — there will be really bad days to the really good days, of course, but he gets to be a kid ( no matter how much he refuses to acknowledge this ), and he gets to work through his traumas and insecurities in full, and he gets to heal. i promise you, he gets to heal!
i have other murky thoughts i cannot properly collate right now, but i think i got the bulk of what i wanted to say out lskfjldg thank you so much for sending this in!! it was a pleasure to read through and answer ♡
#* arrowhead / study.#* roosting / ooc.#thank you lots for this!! apologies for the delay ahaha#you have no idea how thrilled i was when i first saw this in the inbox slfjdkf i love it when people interact with me like this!#ESP IF YOU'RE A LURKER....LURKERS ON MY BLOG ONCE AGAIN I APPRECIATE YOU!!#inviting anyone with further input to say their piece too...eyes emoji#long post cw#* nesting / queue.

DAILY SCRIPTURE READINGS (DSR) 📚 Group, Mon Nov 18th, 2024 ... Monday of The Thirty-Third Week in Ordinary Time, Year B
Reading 1
-----------
RV 1:1-4; 2:1-5
The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him,
to show his servants what must happen soon.
He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,
who gives witness to the word of God
and to the testimony of Jesus Christ by reporting what he saw.
Blessed is the one who reads aloud
and blessed are those who listen to this prophetic message
and heed what is written in it, for the appointed time is near.
John, to the seven churches in Asia: grace to you and peace
from him who is and who was and who is to come,
and from the seven spirits before his throne.
I heard the Lord saying to me:
“To the angel of the Church in Ephesus, write this:
“‘The one who holds the seven stars in his right hand
and walks in the midst of the seven gold lampstands says this:
“I know your works, your labor, and your endurance,
and that you cannot tolerate the wicked;
you have tested those who call themselves Apostles but are not,
and discovered that they are impostors.
Moreover, you have endurance and have suffered for my name,
and you have not grown weary.
Yet I hold this against you:
you have lost the love you had at first.
Realize how far you have fallen.
Repent, and do the works you did at first.
Otherwise, I will come to you
and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.”’”
Responsorial Psalm
---------------
PS 1:1-2, 3, 4 AND 6
R. (Rev. 2:17) Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life.
Blessed the man who follows not
the counsel of the wicked
Nor walks in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the company of the insolent,
But delights in the law of the LORD
and meditates on his law day and night.
R. Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life.
He is like a tree
planted near running water,
That yields its fruit in due season,
and whose leaves never fade.
Whatever he does, prospers.
R. Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life.
Not so the wicked, not so;
they are like chaff which the wind drives away.
For the LORD watches over the way of the just,
but the way of the wicked vanishes.
R. Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life.
Alleluia
--------
JN 8:12
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
I am the light of the world, says the Lord;
whoever follows me will have the light of life.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel

LK 18:35-43
As Jesus approached Jericho
a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging,
and hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what was happening.
They told him,
“Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”
He shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!”
The people walking in front rebuked him,
telling him to be silent,
but he kept calling out all the more,
“Son of David, have pity on me!”
Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him;
and when he came near, Jesus asked him,
“What do you want me to do for you?”
He replied, “Lord, please let me see.”
Jesus told him, “Have sight; your faith has saved you.”
He immediately received his sight
and followed him, giving glory to God.
When they saw this, all the people gave praise to God.
***
FOCUS AND LITURGY OF THE WORD
OPENING PRAYER: Lord God, as you pass by before me, take pity on me. Let me see with the spiritual eyes of faith. Cure the blindness caused by sin. Fill me with your Spirit so that I may praise you, thank you, and give you glory.
ENCOUNTERING THE WORD OF GOD
1. YOUR FAITH HAS SAVED YOU: The Gospel of Luke records two stories in Jericho, one involving a poor man (Luke 18:35-43) and another involving a rich man (Luke 19:1-10). There are many parallels between the two stories, and they mutually illuminate each other. In both stories, Jesus, like God in the Old Testament, is said to be “passing by.” The poor man was blind and was begging for alms as Jesus passed by. The rich man was a chief tax collector and climbed a sycamore tree as Jesus passed by. Both stories are about salvation. Both stories show that Jesus seeks out what was lost. In the first story, faith saves the poor man. He begs the Son of David for mercy, and he receives not only physical sight but also the spiritual vision of faith. Once he was cured, he followed Jesus on the way to Jerusalem. In the second story, which we will hear tomorrow, repentance, faith, and works of charity lead the rich man to salvation.
2. THE PROPHETIC MESSAGE OF REVELATION: Our First Reading is taken from the Book of Revelation. The Book calls itself a “prophecy.” It is a prophecy in at least three ways. In its original context, it is a prophecy about the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70. Many of the images of armies, war, and destruction refer to the Jewish War (66-70 A.D.) and the long siege of Jerusalem by the Romans. Second, the Book of Revelation is a prophecy that foretells the battle between good and evil that will unfold throughout human history. Third, it ultimately is a prophecy about the events that will happen near the end of time. In the passage selected as today’s First Reading, John is directed by Jesus, the Son of Man, to write seven letters to seven Churches in Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey). Each letter evaluates the condition of the Church, announces a punishment for infidelity, and offers a blessing for victory through perseverance.
3. THE LETTER TO THE CHURCH'S IN EPHESUS: The first letter, which we read today, is directed to the Church in Ephesus. The Ephesians are praised for their endurance and work and for discerning between true Apostles and false imposters. At the same time, Jesus points out that the Ephesians have lost the fervor of their original love. They are invited by Jesus to repent and do the works they did at first. If they do not repent, Jesus will remove the Church, symbolized by the golden lampstand, from Ephesus. However, if the members of the Church are victorious over temptation and persevere through the tribulation, they will be blessed with eternal life, symbolized by eating from the Tree of Life.
CONVERSING WITH CHRIST: Lord Jesus, give me to eat from the fruit of the Tree of Life, the Eucharist, your own Body and Blood. Keep me in your grace, fill me with your Spirit, so that I may inherit eternal life with you.
LIVING THE WORD OF GOD: The blind man in today’s Gospel persevered through many decades of trial. And when he was shown mercy, he glorified God, followed Jesus, and led others to praise God. Revelation offers us the promise and blessing of eternal life to those who persevere through trial, overcome temptation, and renew their love for God. What do I need to do to rekindle my first love for God and persevere in that love with God’s grace?

SAINT OF THE DAY
The Story of the Dedication of the Churches of Saints Peter and Paul
St. Peter’s is probably the most famous church in Christendom. Massive in scale and a veritable museum of art and architecture, it began on a much humbler scale. Vatican Hill was a simple cemetery where believers gathered at Saint Peter’s tomb to pray. In 319, Constantine built a basilica on the site that stood for more than a thousand years until, despite numerous restorations, it threatened to collapse. In 1506, Pope Julius II ordered it razed and reconstructed, but the new basilica was not completed and dedicated for more than two centuries.
St. Paul’s Outside-the-Walls stands near the Abaazia delle Tre Fontane, where Saint Paul is believed to have been beheaded. The largest church in Rome until St. Peter’s was rebuilt, the basilica also rises over the traditional site of its namesake’s grave. The most recent edifice was constructed after a fire in 1823. The first basilica was also Constantine’s doing.
Constantine’s building projects enticed the first of a centuries-long parade of pilgrims to Rome. From the time the basilicas were first built until the empire crumbled under “barbarian” invasions, the two churches, although miles apart, were linked by a roofed colonnade of marble columns.
Reflection
----------
Peter, the rough fisherman whom Jesus named the rock on which the Church is built, and the educated Paul, reformed persecutor of Christians, Roman citizen, and missionary to the gentiles, are the original odd couple. The major similarity in their faith-journeys is the journey’s end: both, according to tradition, died a martyr’s death in Rome—Peter on a cross and Paul beneath the sword. Their combined gifts shaped the early Church and believers have prayed at their tombs from the earliest days.

I had a terrible nightmare last night. I would like to share it with you.
The world had ended. Everything and everyone was dead. My fluffy companions were dead. I was struggling to scavenge uncontaminated water and food to survive to struggle another day, because I couldn't not bear the thought of dying alone. The perpetrators who ended the world had taken to outer space and lived luxuriously on a space colony, completely removed from the consequences of their actions. Paradise above hell, basically. The only part of the internet that still worked was a social media site because they were using its satellite.
I was part of a group of survivors. They tasked me with continuously sending messages through the satellite to try to appeal to the humanity in someone at the space station. The social media site was not built to be used by survivors down below. I don't remember every post, but I remember a few. I'm scared, please help me, was one. They killed my darlings, was another, with a picture of my dogs. We are still here. We are alive. Please help us.
We wired an electronic billboard that had once televised the end of the world. I don't know how it worked, the internet and the electricity and the water had broken down without people to maintain it. But it was fixed and it would broadcast things from that social media site. Glossy futuristic malls and spas alongside the pleas from Earth. Sterilised with no nature, no arts, no humanity, because they'd left it all behind in their indulgence and greed.
That was my terrible dream. I'm sure I could read into it a million ways. I probably had it from scrolling too much on Tumblr, seeing that dissonant reality between genocide and everyday posts. I have no intention of drawing parallels or implying morality. I just wanted to talk about this scary dream that I had, in the world we live in, and thank you for reading it. It's therapeutic to write it down on a small blog, where very few people will see it.

Random Good Omens scenarios from my brain, part 3!
First part here, second part here
(Possibly) the last one for a while, depending on what my brain does... As ever, if you want to use one or more of these imaginings as fic/art prompt, that's more than ok -- just tag me in the end result, 'cos I'd love to see it!
Aziraphale contacting the pigeons of London to ask their opinion on the Second Coming/Armageddon etc. -- the pigeons' response is to gather in one place and simultaneously void their bowels all over the Metatron and his coterie of fanatics
Crowley discovering the 'baptise me in hot dog water' post and finding it amusing enough to be inspired to plot a gambit leading to the Metatron and co. being liberally doused in the most hellishly rancid hot dog water that he (Crowley) can get his demonic little hands on
Outside the bookshop, early morning: Metatron, Michael, Uriel and Sandalphon appear, with a beaten, bloodied Aziraphale on his knees between them, his hands chained behind his back. Metatron grabs Azzy's hair and yanks his head around to the right, contemptuously snarling, "Take a good look -- this is the last time you'll ever see sunlight, or your precious bookshop!" None of the angels particularly bother to notice that an unusual number of Whickber Street Traders seem to be helping Nina clean her front windows with a slightly suspicious number of buckets of *completely innocent* water. A portal to Hell opens in the road, accompanied by the appearance of a horde of demons led by Shax and Furfur, who're openly gleeful at getting to be part of the first Fall since The Big One (especially because it's Aziraphale on the chopping block) but just as openly chafing at being told what to do by the Metatron. Before Aziraphale can be handed over for torture and Falling, the WSTs (at some prearranged signal) throw the holy water in their buckets at the demons and the Hell portal, which proves sufficiently distracting that Crowley [something brave and clever and awesome which I haven't thought of yet], removes Azzy's chains and takes his hand to perform a joint miracle that not only banishes Metatron and co. back to Heaven ('Begone, foul fiends! Avaunt!') but binds them there permanently, so they can never come back to Earth. As an encore, the reunited Ineffable Husbands rework the wards on the shop with joint miracles so powerful that Saraquel sends them a note to the effect of, "Our miracle detector just exploded. Whatever you did, it must've been big. For goodness' sake, GET MARRIED ALREADY!!!"
The Whickber Street Traders taking Muriel under their collective (metaphorical) wing
The Shopkeepers' Association feeling a bit awkward around the bookshop for a little while after the Armageddon 2 gets averted, because of the rather scary way it was confirmed that they'd been entertaining angels unaware, until Mrs Sandwich breaks the silence by bringing the Ineffable Bookshop Crew some home-made tiramisu brownies
Aziraphale needing to use mobility aids after everything's sorted, either because of physical injuries sustained while saving the world or because of PTSD-related tremors and suchlike
Crowley recalling that Aziraphale risked not just discorporation but permanent death trying to rescue people from Sodom and Gomorrah (in the process receiving injuries that left scars on his arms and chest that're visible even in modern times), and was so distraught for weeks afterwards that he (Crowley) took some pretty major risks to stay with and comfort him
Aziraphale, when making the final rejection of Heaven, quoting or referencing things Crowley's said previously -- especially "Great pustulent mangled bollocks to the GREAT BLASTED PLAN!!!" Bonus points if he directly states he's quoting Crowley, and extra double bonus if our wily ol' snek gets to overhear the whole thing :D (I really want this to happen in S3!!!!! There're so many awesome bits of parallel-ing already, this'd fit right in!)
Aziraphale repeatedly scaring the crap out of Michael and Uriel with simple sleight-of-hand tricks, because they're so unimaginative that they cannot work out how to do that sort of thing without using miracles
Muriel reading Carpe Jugulum, seeing the bit where Granny Weatherwax talks about sin always fundamentally involving treating people as things, and becoming almost incoherent with terror upon realising how well that describes the Heavenly higher-ups
INEFFABLE HAND-KISSING
Aziraphale having a raging praise kink

This is interesting to me (there are a LOT of parallels between Astarion and Karlach's stories that endlessly Compel Me) but the idea of power and consumption is Interesting, and it functions on several levels - for short-term and long-term.
Short-term Astarion has to consume blood - if he doesn't he won't (can't) technically die, because he's undead, but there's going to be a big struggle to function. So this is an appetite of survival/necessity.
Long-term Astarion gets the option to consume a bunch of souls and ascend, which is repeatedly referred to as the idea of making/letting him live again/becoming the world's first living vampire. Something voluntary/non-essential.
Karlach, though, Karlach doesn't NEED soul coins. (I never fed her any in my run bc I was terrified of the potential consequences of EATING SOULS and my Tav was too moral for it - and she didn't suffer). The soul coins make her more powerful - they ALSO make her/her engine more unstable/burn hotter.
They're kinda the opposite of Astarion getting fed (humanoid) blood in a lot of ways, imo:
Astarion's consumption there gives him short term (Happy Buff) gain AND long term - because he's not kept in the starved, weakened state Cazador had him in.
Karlach gets a short-term burst of power but with a long-term cost/detriment. They push her already unstable engine even harder. Like she deals extra fire damage to ppl because they amp her up so much she's ON FIRE, and make it more unstable, likely reducing the life-span of the engine and also: herself.
It's an interesting dynamic/parallel, imo, and v in character for their arcs/trauma responses imo. As for the ethical/moral dilemma...sigh. I WISH the game delved more into the nature of selling souls/soul mechanics. I think it's implied if you go to the house of hope and you can be like 'you see!? This shit is BAD!' for the poor fucked up fools trapped in there.
But I think it should especially be hammered homr in regards to Astarion and the ascension and put into perspective what's actually on the table/what he's really doing here.
Killing 7,000 people/spawn is obviously BAD. Sending their souls to an archdevil? In this universe that is unquestionably, objectively, no doubt about it: 90000 times worse.
In this world, for a start, you can bring people back from death if you have to...and if you have the money for it, lbr, it's not a common option. Howrver, even on death it's confirmed that souls still exist and carry on after death - and they go to nice planes and chill and vibe for eternity if they're good eggs/until they get reincarnated if applicable or what have you. If your soul is sent to Hell under devil contract? Yeah that's your eternity now, bud, have fun. And like....Wyll's big dilemma/act 3 torment is do you save your father in exchange for your soul? ONE soul, HIS soul, for HIS father. And all the souls in the house of hope made similar deals - their singular soul for a boon for them/their family/out of absolute desperation. Astarion’s choice is signing away 7,000 of OTHER PEOPLES'. Many of whom: he led to this doom in the first place. 7,000 of those poor, trapped, eternally-tortured people from the house of hope. And they get NOTHING out of this deal! It ONLY benefits Astarion. That is HELLA fucked up, bro!
And same with Karlach, actually. Because she disapproves if YOU disapprove of her consuming the soul coins because "better I use it than some devil". Which makes sense, I guess, and I don't entirely blame her for that take BUT!
IN THEORY (I dislike rampantly applying 5e lore and mechanics to bg3 where it's not confirmed, but for mechanical things like soul coins (as opposed to like creatures and alignment assumptions etc) I'll go with it) but in theory: you CAN free a soul trapped in a soul coin. There are several ways of doing that, actually - spells like remove curse will do it, but you can also expend the soul's energy by using its charges and if it's all used up the soul is freed. (These arent available in bg3, so may not be accurate). Ofc it makes sense Karlach wouldn't have been told that/may not know that. Which is why I think she SHOULD BE! In game!!!
Especially because: oh it gets worse!!!! Because, specifically, in 5e, if you use a soul coin to power an infernal engine: the soul it contains is not freed but destroyed. Like. Destroy destroyed. Like, literally, 'not even god can save you now' destroyed. Gone. Forever. And in a world where there's canonical reincarnation of souls, and there are spells that can return dead souls after they've been dead for up to TWO HUNDRED YEARS, yeah, eternally destroying a soul for an extra 1d4 fire damage for 8 hours is, uh, inadvisable lmfao.
And again: I don't blame Karlach for this because she likely doesn't know (how would or could she?). But I think this concept parallels her arc very well and would've been SO interesting to consider/reveal and have her grapple with. Because Karlach is so about living in the moment and on her terms - she outright refuses/rejects any hope/potential for living longer by returning to Avernus, or thinking about/dealing with her engine long-term. Whereas a soul coin...like you're trapped in there being tortured for eternity but there's always a chance you can still be freed/some long-term shred of hope, however faint. Unless u get fed to an infernal engine and ur destroyed forever the end game over that is.
Idk what my point is anymore, or even if I actually had one to begin with lmfao. Hellspawn parallels are just so JUICY to me, and I hadn't fully considered the "consume living essence/soul energy for personal gain and power" thing before but now it's on my list of things to think way too hard about...
One parallel between Karlach and Astarion that I think isn’t explored enough is the fact that they both have a moral dilemma around consuming souls.
Which I understand the whole Soul coin thing isn’t all that explored in the game unfortunately, but the little implications of what’s there has some good potential. The most striking similarity between Karlach and Astarion is that both are victims of a system designed to consume them. Karlach through her infernal modifications and Astarion through vampiric servitude. They both seek to break free and in doing so, they must grapple with the moral weight of consuming others as a means to their end.
While both decisions involve feeding off the essence of others, Karlach's situation is framed as reluctant survival, whereas Astarion’s choice is one of ambition, vengeance, and the temptation of absolute power. Yet they both have the potential to lose themselves if they go down this path.
I mostly wanted to focus on Karlach’s use of Soul Coins and how that comes with a profound ethical weight:
She understands what it means to be trapped and used against one's will. As someone who was forced into servitude under Zariel, the idea of burning up another soul, even if it belongs to a damned individual, feels like repeating the cycle of oppression she fought to escape.
Each Soul Coin contains a remnant of a person. Though they are already condemned to Avernus, using their essence for power means she is directly exploiting what remains of them, treating them as fuel rather than beings who once had lives of their own.
She wants to be free, not stronger at any cost. Unlike Astarion, whose dilemma tempts him with godlike power, Karlach’s concern is merely survival. Using Soul Coins might give her a boost in strength and over time give her new abilities, but does it make her complicit in the same predatory system that enslaved her?
Karlach’s use of Soul Coins is desperate, not ambitious. She does not seek power; she only seeks to live. If she consumes, it is apathetically out of necessity, not desire.
Astarion’s ascension is entirely voluntary. He has an alternative: walking away and choosing to be something more than a monster. His temptation is not just survival, but the desire to be untouchable.
That's all my brain came up with for now but trust me the layers are layering you guys…

runes#runic magic#sorcerer
A real connection to the channel of rune magic - apply the rune of the day on your left hand with the words "For Good", the next morning we gratefully wash it off with the words "I give blessing" and apply the next rune. Connecting the rune requires reading and understanding the following text. For some it’s different (by time), but for everyone a new chapter of your life begins … Take the wheel in your hands. #YS
EVAZ - PROGRESS ARROW FLYING TO THE GOAL (horse, horse, two halves, jumping over obstacles, communication, balance and control, movement, change) You are lucky and you are lucky. Sesame, open up
Traditional meaning - horse Green color Gods - Freyr, Freya Element - Earth
Controls the Nifelheim-Hel transition: The past, including birth experience, habitual emotional reactions, the contents of the astral body, including existing lesions, and Hel - the world external to the soul, which is poorly verbalized, the world. Which is just like the other outside world - Muspelheim is a source of additional energy, but if Muspelheim is rather the energy of fire. That Hel is the energy of Air - emptiness, magical nothing from which everything can be formed. There are a lot of horror stories around Hel as a “world of the dead”, which are lazy to break through. If you have the wisdom and strength to feel what it is, we will be sincerely happy for you, we will not convince and teach anyone on the topic of Hel. To simplify. That Evaz manages energy exchange, supplies or drains energy for the implementation of plans and fulfillment of desires, and indeed for life in an uncontrolled unconscious form based on habitual emotional reactions and tribal traditions (like in our family this has never been done) in a conscious controlled form allows you to make independent decisions to take or not to take energy, to pass it through oneself or not.
MAGIC: GALDOR One horse is eight-legged, which is called Sleipnir. Known to me, Kohl you wish to roam the worlds. In search of the wisdom of aces, or alphas, or jotuns of knowledge. Whistle to him, he will take you away. The sacred tree will receive you. I know something else. If you decide to sing a song for another. Sleipnira's gift will be able to carry it to any place you point to.
If someone is afflicted by an ailment or an evil disease, draw the Rune. A bad deed will be removed in an instant.
WHAT IT IS USED FOR Disturb a process To travel through parallel worlds, astral and other subtle things The rune symbolizes the need for equal partnership between a man and a woman. To make changes very quickly. To guarantee a safe journey. Rune of transformation. It requires a person to trust and devotion, the ability to manage their energies and honest intentions. Able to change, "push" any process that has entered the phase of stagnation It can bring a person out of "spiritual hibernation", help him get rid of his "fixation" on a currently insoluble problem Facilitates travel, especially water Promotes mystical and shamanic "journeys" Promotes communication at different levels of being (with animals, plants, minerals) Good for starting new adventures Prepare change and pave the way for it Strengthens the bonds of friendship Gives a new perspective on things Helps in achieving secret, intuitive knowledge It makes it possible to acquire secret knowledge or to acquire some kind of knowledge, being at a considerable distance from its source. Speeds up any process Effective for "sending" the spell in the right direction Provides normal communication with friends / loved ones. Effective for the restoration of their rights. To create an equal family. Healing hypochondria, alcoholism. Healing chronic diseases The rune allows you to form intention and use the power of Intention in magical actions. The jump is like flying IO of the situation as it is IO of the situation as it should, like on a horse we place the IO of the current situation on the rune and send it aside to the desired goal in space Causes fatigue if applied from the outside and vice versa concentrates the inner strength if you feel it inside yourself.
USE IN AMULETS (ACCORDING TO SHAPOSHNIKOV) In everyday life, the energy of the rune helps to achieve what you want with the help of Intention. THURISAZ–ISA–EHWAZ: Runes of Voloshba. Used as a tool in magical work.
EHWAZ-ANSUZ: Help eryl, the magician in research.
EHWAZ-RAIDHO: Everything will be swept away along the way.
NAUTHIZ-MANNAZ-EIHWAZ-EHWAZ: Eihwaz-Ehwaz.: For shamanistic journeys.
MANNAZ-EIHWAZ-EHWAZ. NAUTHIZ: To organize initial training in shamanic travel. You can add Jera for a guaranteed return.
EHWAZ-ALGIZ-ISA: Protection from magical influence, from astral attack.
EHWAZ-ALGIZ-OTHALA: Protection of the family from witchcraft and corruption.
ISA-ALGIZ-EHWAZ: This isn't protection from magic, but to ensure safe astral travel.
EHWAZ-FEHU: A new impetus to business, a successful break from the dead center.
EHWAZ-THURISAZ: Revolution.
EHWAZ-MANNAZ: The path to knowledge, combined with individual knowledge. Path to Creativity. It is important not to fall off the true path to the triumph of your own Ego.
Glory to the runes, thanks to the Internet.

I have my problems with the hidden world, like many others. And i just want to gather all my thoughts in one place here because i feel like many agree that the ending itself isnt the problem, but how they did it. For me, personally, they ruined it with the reactions to the dragons leaving. Specifically, the reactions of the dragons.
First, we have Meatlug, who in the past has been shown thay merely HEARING FISHLEGS' VOICE causes her to become overwhelmed with excitement. (RTTE S2E9)
And yet here, she looks like this:

Like?? Not even a frown when she's leaving Fishlegs, who is clearly her favourite person in the world (literally watch ANY HTTYD media and this is made abundantly clear).
Moving on, we have Barf and Belch. Now it can be said that the twins and their dragon don't really have as many emotional dragon-rider moments as the others, but it is still clear that Barf and Belch love their riders. Except here:

The twins look DEVASTATED, meanwhile they (sorry belch is cropped here I couldnt get a ss with both in it) hardly look sad. Barf at least looks a little upset but still, its borderline.
And moving on, to perhaps what angers me the most, Snotlout & Hookfang. These two are easily my fav dragon-rider duo/team, and for many reasons.
Very quickly, allow me to take you back to RTTE S1E13, in which Hookfang goes out of his way to protect "Girl-Hookfang" and her eggs from a Titanwing Monsterous Nightmare when she sends out what Hiccup describes as a "distress signal".
When Snotlout tells Hookfang to choose between him and the dragon, he ultimately chooses defending her. But at the prospect of leaving Snotlout, he looks LIKE THIS:

He looked MISERABLE and even made sad little dragon noises (idk how to describe them im sorry). So,
TELL ME WHY
IN THE HIDDEN WORLD
HE LOOKS LIKE THIS

SNOTLOUT LOOKS LIKE HES LISTENED TO AN ENTIRE MITSKI ALBUM, BROS FUCKING SOBBING SCREAMING CRYING THROWING UP.
And Hookfang hardly even looks at him, just kinda gives him a sideways glance. Like

HELLO???! And ONE OF THESE had a lower budget as a TV show AND a lower quality model (which, unrelated, ive seen some people really dislike but I think the show models are great!)
The only one to act somewhat appropriately is Toothless, who warbles and makes his little dragon noises at Hiccup, almost talking with him, they have their big heartfelt moment and their cute hug before he leaves. Because of course they get it, its Hiccup and Toothless.
And yeah i get it that clearly the dragons are sick and tired of hunters and therefore understand the need to leave. But they dont even look sad! Breaks my heart because after three movies, two tv shows and all the specials of the dragons and riders bonding and caring for each other and they don't even get a heartfelt goodbye.
And let us not forget that Snotlout, Fishlegs and the twins, who have been riders since the FIRST MOVIE, and main characters in their own right for years, don't even get a GOODBYE LINE?? LIKE LITERALLY, Astrid and Valka? Absolutely, they deserve it. Gobber? Sure, he hasn't known grump nearly as long but he's been a relevant and important main character as long as the kids. And Eret-
Now, I love Eret. He's cool. He's great. Love a hunter turned rider.
But WHY DID THEY GIVE A LINE TO HIM AND SKULLCRUSHER (approx. 1 year relationship) OVER THE SIX YEARS OF FISHLEGS, RUFF, TUFF AND SNOTLOUT? THEY DONT EVEN GET A "Goodbye." WHAT.
And again thats not me shitting on Eret getting one, its on the others NOT
And this isnt even beginning to mention Valka and Cloudjumper do not START ME on their TWENTY YEAR FRIENDSHIP AND BOND BEING TORN APART IN A ONE MINUTE GOODBYE.
Anyways on a lighter note, the parallel with Hiccup removing his hand from Toothless in a reverse of the first time they touched all those years ago always gets me emotional. My fav part about the ending.
And that's pretty much all I like about it LMAOO
#if you could not tell#i am hyperfixating#and i have MANY feelings#and even more thoughts#and contrary to what this post may have you believe#a lot of them are positive!#but those ones arent the hidden world ANYWAYS#god it angers me#like i WANTED TO LIKE THIS MOVIE#dont even get me STARTED on the end epilogue#because of course only hiccup and astrid get their reunions#of course :)))))))))))))#rage#seething rage#httyd#how to train your dragon#httyd the hidden world#snotlout#snotlout jorgenson#snotlout my beloved#hiccup haddock#astrid hofferson#fishlegs ingerman#ruffnut thorston#tuffnut thorston#valka haddock#eret son of eret#rtte#race to the edge
