Maybe when we’re older, little kids will know how to take care of each other and their spaces, and won’t have to learn it from the internet, but from looking around and being in their communities. Maybe the farmers market will be swarming with people, and buying local will be expected rather than an exception. Maybe the temperatures will stop rising every summer, and seeing the stars won’t be so rare. That’s the goal for this blog. For us to make that happen, a little bit at a time.

Open discussion - stuff to talk about, that I’d love to hear others thoughts on!

Hope - general goals, things that make me, well, hopeful! Some are more joke-y than others, but I think it’s still worthwhile. Avoiding anything too dour. (Sub-tags: hope/jk, hope/community)

Signs of life - think the hope tag, but for things that are actually happening. It’s important to stop, and acknowledge that yes, progress is being made. This is all progress, but the tag name is partially because the first post for it was around nature rehabilitation

Resources - resources to help you be as sustainable as you can be and to build community (and maybe be a little anarchistic while you’re at it). This includes tips on making clothes last longer and getting stuff cheap/free/secondhand, as well as how to improve community spaces! There may also be general safety and wellness resources added to this tag (sub-tags: resources/health, resources/mobility, resources/accessibility, resources/sustainability, resources/community, resources/health)

Public resources - things and places that should be commonly available to the public, including transportation and information

Access denied - a tag for showing the oppresion that many people face simply for existing, whether they be people of color, disable, queer, or any other marginalized group.

The commons - in the same vein as public resources, but specifically around necessary goods, such as food, water, sanitary products, or mobility aids.

Let it last - posts about making things or repairing them to get them to last, and to last for a long time. Mending and patchwork fall into this categorey

in with the old and out with the new - typically about something that is older being brought back into common use due to it being better for people or more sustainable

Transport - involving how we get around in our day to day. Often anti-car, pro-public transport, and pro-walkable communities posts

To apply - things that would be good for businesses and people to start using or considering when possible

things to kill - stuff that, overall, is worse than it should be. The system itself is worse, the way it affects people is worse, ect. Some of these do include action plans/steps to take!

Take their rope away - a reference to this comic about the trolley problem, basically saying to hold the decision makers responsible for the things they do, and asking the question of who is tying people to the tracks in the first place.

R3x - examples of how people have/ways to reuse, reduce and recycle!! (Yes, it’s Rex, which is also the name of the guy in the blog’s pfp!)

Right to repair - focusing on how people should be able to access and fix their own stuff, and not rely on price-gouging corporations to fix it for them.

Donation ask - a compilation of asks for donations, verified/trusted. I’ll try to keep them up to date. Here’s a campaign I trust and hope will reach his goal: [XXXXX]

I'd like to share with y'all a project I've poured my heart and soul into over the last couple of years: a database cataloguing every single older queer science fiction book I've managed to track down, consisting of just over 200 titles with LGBT characters/themes & by LGBT authors, spanning over a century (1880-2000) 🚀

The database can be filtered by representation, subgenre, whether the book is currently in print, and more; additionally, it includes my own ratings & brief thoughts on the ones i have read, if anyone needs a suggestion on places to start! (or feel free to shoot me an ask for a more personalized recommendation)

Free Manual Wheelchair Reference Models

For disability pride month, I decided to release a pack of 3D manual wheelchair models.

The pack includes 5 wheelchairs:

2 Active urban-style chairs (one of which includes a smart drive)

1 off-road active chair

1 children's wheelchair

and 1 standard "hospital" wheelchair).

All the wheelchairs are based off either wheelchairs I or friends of mine have used

The first download link includes the original .Blend file with all 5 chairs, as well as individual .obj or .fbx files the chairs (All but 1 have an .obj file, as they're only meshes. The chair with the smart drive is rigged, which is why it has an .Fbx file instead so it will retain that information) as well as a "read me" file that explains in more depth what kind of disability/character/lifestyle each chair is made for (These are just what I had in mind when I designed them, they are usable by other characters who don't fit the suggestions for the most part!) I wanted to include the Read Me contents in the CSP Asset Store listing, but CS said it was too long lol.

Also, as the title says, these files are free to use! While it's not mandatory, I would appreciate credit if you use them (or even just a tag so I can see the cool art you make with them!!)

I actually made these ages ago, the original plan was to use them in a series of posts then release the pack, but I never got around to making the series and so they've just been sitting here. I took a day off from art fight attacks to clean them all up and get them ready to post. If you experience any issues, let me know and I'll try to fix it up.

I had a couple more that were supposed to be in the pack including a sports (basketball/Tennis) wheelchair and some different styles of wheelchair, but I think the files corrupted so once I fix (or remake) them, I'll probably make a second pack.

Free Manual Wheelchair Reference Models (Version 2)

I've updated the wheelchair models I released for last year's Disability pride month to include adjustable shaders/materials that carry over into programs like Clip Studio Paint for folks who just want to use them as reference, and (what I hope is) a clearer guide on how to use, import/export and make alterations to them!

Each chair is designed to suit different kinds of characters with different disabilities and lifestyles. The chairs available right now are:

2 Active urban-style chairs (one of which includes a rear-mounted power assist)

1 off-road active chair

1 children's wheelchair

and 1 standard "hospital" wheelchair.

and I'm planning to add 2 more by the end of disability pride month (2025)

included in each download is:

the original .blend file for each wheelchair model

an .obj and .mtl file for each chair that can be imported into other 3D modelling software or into some art programs like Clip Studio Paint

A link to a user's manual that explains how to make alterations to the files for those less familiar with Blender, and how to import and save them to your Clip Studio Paint Asset/Material library on both desktop and ipad versions of CSP.

I would really like to keep updating these files and eventually include rigs for each (one of these was rigged previously, but I'm not sure what happened, it seems to have broken after one of the Blender updates)

Just like last time, they're completely free to use, with the caveat that they can't be resold or used in AI training. Credit isn't required but is greatly appreciated (as are tags so I can see art that used them!)

✨ Snappy's Gradient Text Tutorial

You might have seen me use gradient text in a few of my artworks, and it is a great tool to make a posts tand out! I learned from this post, but find some of the information outdated, so I am making a tutorial of my own!

To my knowledge, this is only possible via desktop mode* (mobile method at end), but not the app, as access to the HTML function is necessary. Alongside that, you need access to a text color fader! There's a few options out there, but I use:

Let's get to the tutorial!

Have the text you want to turn into a gradient ready and copy it to your clipboard.

2. Open the text color fader and paste your text into the box labeled "your message".

3. For the most basic gradients, you may ignore the boxes on the right. The leftmost boxes allow you to choose between preset colors or making your own colors.

Tip: if you are making a gradient for something such as art, I reccoment grabbing a few hex codes from the image to use for your gradient. This allows you to have control over your colors. You may also save a pallet if you want to use it again

4. When you are happy with your colors, generate your text.

5. You will be brought to this page. If you are happy with the colors, click "select all" and copy the HTML to your clipboard.

TIP: check your text against both a dark and light background to ensure it will be readable to viewers on dark and light mode. If it is not you can tweak the colors by choosing "create new fade".

6. Open Tumblr again and open your post. At the top right there is a grear icon. Click the icon and scroll down to the text editor. Change the setting from "rich text" to "HTML"

7. When you move to HTML, your post will look very different! In the HTML, your goal is to find the text you want to replace in the code.

TIP: If you can't find it, use "Ctrl + F" to open the keword search function and it will highlight your word.

8. Highlight your plain text, right click it, and paste your HTML from Patorjik into the space.

TIP: The HTML is a confusing mess to look at. Click the "preview" tab to check if your code worked

9. You should see a gradient when you swicth modes!

If the HTML broke your formatting, you can edit it in the preview mode. Once you have done a gradient a couple of times this process is very easy and takes LESS than two minutes. It looks intimidating but after you get the hang it is very achievable! I believe in you guys being able to do it. Happy gradient texting for you guys!

*EDIT: It is possible via mobile through the method of entering your account on a web browser and putting it on computer mode, then following the same process. Reportedly it is less comfortable but it works, thank you to chocokeyboard for letting me know!

MK Mobile Christmas Artwork Transparents

I started working on this a while ago and I finally managed to edit out all the overlapping text and such ヽ(o＾▽＾o)ノ There was quite a bit on this one. Sorry I didn’t edit out the snow effect too, but the text was tricky enough. If anyone with more skill would like to take these further and remove the snow, be my guest!

That said… I feel like the Kuai Liang hugging one has… potential for edits & memes 👀

oh hiiii! How are ya'll? Yep I am alive and finally back from the dead! Alsoooo I remembered that I posted a Youtube mobile template before vanishing but privated it (for some reason that I totally forgot why T^T). So here it is, I've made some updates to it and added a few pages like the "shorts" page, "live stream" page, videos page.
