🌊TUNA-TOBER🌊 PROMPT CHALLENGE 2024

Hello friends! Are you looking for a prompt challenge for 2024, but don't really feel the desire to stick to only one genre? Does your sole feel betta suited to taking on a prompt challenge that provides options for kink, fluff, AND angst? Or, are you just looking to see what delicious fics or art might spawn from some of the gill-iant minds of a few writers and artists on tumblr? Whale, here's your chance!

Started by the Murdock's Tuna Team discord server, the Tuna-Tober Prompt Challenge is a unique fic/art challenge, in which for every day in October, you are provided one of three prompts: a kink prompt, a fluff prompt, and a whump/angst prompt. Like many other 'Tober prompt challenges, it isn't mandatory to complete all the prompts. You're free to choose as you please! Do one! Do ten! Do one a day! Do them all! Mix and swap as needed! The Tuna-Tober Prompt Challenge is meant to stir your creativity, not fill you with stress. There also is no fandom or character requirement, so chase that muse where She leads you. In addition to our three prompts for each day of October, there are also four sets of backup prompts, just in case you hit a day where you just ain't feeling the three that were provided.

AvA/AvM AU Generator!

I've really enjoyed using this for myself because it's like a fun little creative challenge to try and piece everything together so I decided to share this with all of you!

How to use:

Basically, all you have to do is get a random number generator and set the values next to each list, then randomize numbers until you have at least one number for each category you would like to include! Simple. Characters - generally works best with 2-5 characters, but any amount is allowed. The Relationship Generator can help you get ideas on how the characters interact in this AU. And finally, the prompts are able to add a little surprise and flavor to your AU to really make it fun! You can pick as many as you want. (Note: This generator may occasionally imply problematic things - that does not mean I condone those things, it's just because it's random)

Any one can use this without any need to credit! However, I would like to be tagged so I can see your creations if you do use it, but you don't have to!

What is a reverse bang?

In a reverse challenge, a number of artists create artwork for a given fandom. Those pieces are offered as prompts to authors, who write a story based on the art. A big bang is a writing challenge that takes place over a number of months and is intended to produce longfic. Therefore, a reverse bang is both of those things.

What are the requirements?

An artist must submit at least one fully completed piece of artwork. More details are available on the artist rules post. The minimum wordcount for authors is 10,000 words (the author rules post is forthcoming). For this round, in order to ensure match ups, art and stories must primarily feature Oxventure D&D, Oxventure Deadlands, and/or Oxventure Blades in the Dark, but AUs and crossovers with other Oxventure games are acceptable.

Where does the challenge take place? Where can I reach the mod/the other participants?

Frequency Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can works be cross posted to another fest? Yes! As long as your work fits within the themes of both and follows the rules of the other fest.

Can I write my favorite ship or OC? Can I make a character an unspeakable who is not an unspeakable in canon?

Yes & Yes! As long as the work is set in the Harry Potter universe and follows the fest rules.

Will this fest be anonymous? Works will be anonymous initially on AO3, but participants are welcome to discuss them during the writing or creating process. We encourage you to talk about your works within the confines of the DoM, but please feel free to go wherever you’re most comfortable. Five days after works are posted to AO3, reveals will begin. We are currently planning to have all reveals occur on September 21, 2024, but may change this depending on the number of participants. We will let participants know and update the FAQ, if needed, once claiming has closed.

Can I claim more than one prompt at a time? You can claim a second prompt only after your first work has been submitted and approved to the fest. If you wish to claim a prompt after claiming closes, please email mods for consideration. Participants can submit a maximum of five works.

What do I do if I need an extension or need to drop out of the fest? Email the mod account as soon as you think you might need an extension, and we will do our best to work with you. If you can no longer participate, please send us an email and let us know. Please be sure to send us an email rather than a DM as it will help us stay organized.

Can you explain what you mean by writing stories (or making art) about the known areas of study of the Department of Mysteries (i.e., love, death, prophecy, mind, and space/time)?

Love:

What precisely did Lily Potter do that gave Harry the protection against the Killing Curse? How did the ward on the Dursleys’ house based on that protection operate, exactly?

Dumbledore told Harry “Love as powerful as your mother's for you leaves its own mark.” Was he speaking literally? How does love manifest in one’s magic?

Do memories shift over time? Are they fully removed from one’s mind when placed in the Pensieve?
