Kagamine Len "Street SEKAI" Initial 2* Card Story Summary

Part 1: As Kohane and An make their way to MEIKO’s cafe in Street SEKAI, they run into Len who’s going there as well. An asks if he helps at the cafe like Miku, but he’s just a customer; in the world, he’s also a DJ. An wonders where all of his equipment is, since she’s never seen him with it. He jokes that he has a magic pocket in his outfit to pull it out, which the pair first believe.

Len explains that SEKAI isn’t magical, just mysterious. Kohane says that she’s realized the Virtual Singers are pretty similar to them. Len explains his only special power is helping people find their true feelings, but the Vivids point out that it’s still a good power; he helped make Vivid BAD SQUAD happen without solving all their problems for them.

Part 2: Akito and Toya look for Len in Street SEKAI, Akito hoping to ask him something. They find him, and Akito asks if he worked things out with Rin. Len did some time ago. Akito is glad to hear it.

Akito confirms that that was it when Len checks if there’s anything else, and Toya explains that he had been concerned about Len’s and Rin’s argument. He went by the cafe a number of times looking for Len, and Toya asks if he works there. Len explains that no, he works as a DJ. He and Rin DJ together. Akito wonders how it works with two DJs, and he describes it as a more varied experience than performing; similar to how, he imagines, it is for Vivid BAD SQUAD. The two agree, and Len looks forward to seeing their shows.

-as rui’s childhood friend, nene has extensive fire safety knowledge

-shizuku is adopted, hence why she looks so different from shiho. she was adopted shortly before the moon rabbit event and it contributed to her clinginess

-shiho’s most treasured phenny is a somewhat lumpy crocheted phenny holding a very lumpy crocheted bass guitar

-tsukasa snores. he falls asleep in 10 seconds and sounds like a dying lawnmower

-mizuki has learned a small bit of french from their sister and uses it exclusively to teach rui and an how to swear in french

-emu still celebrates her grandfather’s birthday, even if he’s not there to celebrate with her

-kohane ate bugs as a kid. an is horrified, toya is confused, akito is impressed

-ena and airi got in trouble in middle school because they’d keep starting fist fights in defense of the others honor. if they saw the other in a fight they’d jump in guns blazing no hesitation no questions ask ready to throw the fuck down

-vbs!rin and len were given a skateboard by an and then promptly had the skateboard confiscated by meiko for property destruction

-haruka is horrible with slang. she asks the stream chat what poggers means and immediately uses it completely wrong, killing all viewers on impact

-toya has been banned from arcades before because he made them lose too much money/they suspected he was cheating

-kohane's parents stick out like a sore thumb when going to her live shows. it mortifies her that everyone on vivid street can recognize them as the only milquetoast middle aged couple dressed in normal clothes loudly going YOU'RE DOING GREAT SWEETIE that don't know the first thing about music

-minori knows basic programming. she mostly uses it for forums, blogs, html, other web design things usually related to idols as a hobby, but she's become the groups designated anti-shizuku tech support

-mafuyu has always been able to see ghosts but after adults figured she was just playing pretend as a kid so she shrugged and figured it was normal and not worth bringing up again

-honami has one of those massive extended families and somehow keeps track of them all. at any given time cousin #57 can crawl out of the woodwork and she remembers their new job, favorite food, past three romantic relationships and list of allergic reactions

-mizuki does doll customizing as a hobby. they prefer making human sized clothes, but it's fun to make them miniature too. they've introduced shizuku to it and she loves it, but doesn't have the heart to do anything that would hurt the doll (sawing limbs off, dunking them in boiling water, shoving wires in them, etc.)

So If Street SEKAI and Alleyway SEKAI are the same place… how did the VS change personalities and have they mentioned radder to VBS at all?

Hey queen ok ok so in my unofficial radder sekai lore the original rin and len never made it out they got crushed when the alleyway was closing in bro (its morbid but you know it could be symbolic of nagi & taiga’s relationship) 😭 street sekai rin and len are from akitoya (i think??? I forgor the vs wl lore) i think thats what makes them so upset post lutf. In lutf nagi had the whole “dont cry for me” thing going on that she def passed on to the sekailoids…. (These mfs lied to an too 😭 i do have a fanfic where an finds out about that oof)

As for the personality changes in my radder sekai fanfic they all kinda start of as these asshats (esp miku & meiko) but while helping radder find their true feelings they also get their own character development! Also rin, len, AND nagi dying definitley alters how they view the world and how they treat people. Radder era miku especially she has an insane amount of essentialism about the entire concept of a new sekai and what it MEANS to be hatsune miku. Crase cafe opens for a similar reason for why ken opened up weekend garage which i think is neat. Like if i look at my character sheets for the radder sekailoids luka & kaito aren’t very different from their street sekai counterparts. Exept for luka’s maturity which in my head her sillyness is a defense mechanism i dont mess around about my vbs sekailoids

Today was kaito's birthday, and since it was his birthday, you did everything in your will to make it special, ofcourse making a special birthday party would make it hard, not to mention expensive but you had to try!! It was his birthday after all and it didnt hurt to try right?

You first started the day by buying him ice cream, you hid it in the fridge so that when he gets in your shared apartment, you'll surprise him with that! Next you brought some small cake, the big one was too expensive, surely the small one will do..

You then decorated the apartment, just some small balloons here and there, since it was his birthday, ofcourse you were going to invite his friends, they too had to come! So you went online and started searching on what to cook, foods that would suit everybody, after an hour or so you started cooking, there were going to be 7 of them, plus you so that would mean you had to make food suited for 8 people! You didnt try anything like this since you came from a small family, but itd be worth a shot!

Ofcourse, you did some things that arent related to his birthday such as, taking care of plants, going to the mall, and going to your job, ofcourse when you got home you were a tad bit late, so you put on your apron and started cooking, you placed your phone onto a phone stand and watched their live, since it was his birthday, ofcourse theyre gonna put on a show, why wouldnt they?

After finishing preparing everything you texted kaito to be home as quick as he can, he still didnt see the message but he will, he never leaves you on sent, after a minute he sees your message, and goes offline, thats it? Does that mean theyre coming home? 8pm still not home, 8:45pm still not home, 9pm still not home, you started doubting, the food had gone cold, you placed the ice cream back into the fridge to avoid it melting, maybe he and his bandmates went out and ate out? But he wouldve texted you if they did.. maybe he forgot? It was almost 10 and you started placing the cake back to the fridge to avoid flies, then the door opened, and there it was kaito and his bandmates!

You quickly placed the cake in the fridge and helped them get inside. "Sorry for not replying, i was about to but my phone died..." Kaito, apologizes, you shook your head and assured him that it was all okay, rin, the band's keyboardist interrupts. "Oh wow! You cooked all this [Y/N]! Careful, lens gonna eat it all~!" She teased, taking a seat "i dont even eat that much! Unlike you!" Len, the bands guitarist argues back, Meiko, sits beside the two teens, giving them a glare "calm down you two.. " she says sternly, the two didnt calm down so they had to sit separately, Meiko, Rin, Luka on the right side, you, Miku, and Rin on the left, ofcourse Kaito would be at the center since this party was dedicated to him!

You all began to eat and drink, except the twins ofcourse, staying up all night to have fun, singing karaoke, and playing video games, you watched, Miku and Luka admiring rin and len's skill on playing video games, while Meiko lays down, too drunk to know whats happening,she rests her head on Rins lap "Stop moving Meiko! Im gonna lose!!" She whines, Len snickers "keep wiggling Meiko!" He teases, you watched them all, being happy that they enjoyed the small party you threw, after some minutes Meiko finally woke up and had an idea. "Guys! Lets sing kaito a... A happy birthday~!" She says with a song-sing voice, wrapping her arm around your shoulder, you nod and helped Meiko sit back down.

After singing kaito a happy birthday, you pulled out your small cake from the fridge "sorry if the cakes to small.. the big ones were expensive.." you added, looking a bit guilty, Kaito shook his head and gave you a reassuring smile "no,no.. dont be, im grateful for whatever you give me.." he smiles "Stop talking and blow out the candle!!" Rin exclaims, Kaito then blew out his candles, chuckling a bit "aha.. im starting to feel old.." he chuckles, Miku shook her head "26 is not that old.! I think.." she replied, Luka nodded in agreement.

After the party ended, the rest of the bandmates were gonna head home, they all had given their gifts back at the concert but you still hadnt given your gift yet.. "you sure you dont want me to drive you home..?" You ask, Luka shook her head "no, no.. me and Meiko live pretty close, rin, miku, and len also live ina dormitory thats just a 30 minute drive from my place.. its almost 12 so you should get rest, you did throw as a party.." she replied, You knew you could trust her, she only took small drink, maybe like one can, unlike Meiko..

You both helped eachother clean up, it wasnt that messy but still needed some retouches "you dont have to help me clean Kai, its your birthday" you say to him, he shook his head "no, i should help.. you threw me this party.. its the least i could do.." he says, while wiping the plates, watching you sweep, after finishing, you wanted to announce something.

"Happy birthday Kai.. oh! Here i brought you a present! Close your eyes..!" You giggle, Kaito smiles and nodded, closing his eyes "on a count to three open em okay? 1... 2... 3... Open!" As Kaito opens his eyes, he had an appreciated look on his face. "A crocheted plushie.. of ice cream..?" He remarks.. was your gift that bad..? Is it not that good? "Y-yeah! Took me a week.. do you .. like it...?" You ask, kaito smiles at you and gave you a hug "i love it.. i'll cherish it as long as i live" he added, the hug soon broke "this is the best birthday gift i could ask for.. thank you.." he smiles at you, showering you with compliments, you blush slightly at his words "awee..! Dont have to! Just doing something a good person would do!" The clock soon hits 12, Kaito's birthday had come to an end.

"Although.. there is something that i did want.." he blushed, looking away "oh! What is it then..? Im sure i can buy it for you next year!" You replied, kaito looks at you then, clears hos throat "is it too late for a birthday kiss..?" He asks.

You blush, and chuckles a bit, kissing his cheek, just as you were about to pull away, he grabs your waist and kisses you on the lips.. "i-im sorry.." he said, blushing madly while looking down, you chuckle and smiled at him "no,no.. im glad you kissed me.."He smiles at your response, hugging you, nuzzling his face to your neck, "oh.. well.. im glad you liked it.. though.. would you still be glad if i.. did more than kissing?"

And Now I Wear This Ribbon, Aftershow & Megurine Luka: Choosing to Wait

I watched the And Now I Wear This Ribbon aftershow and Megurine Luka: Choosing to Wait, and the most interesting thing I found, at least related to learning about Mizuki, is the stage background.

It's fun because it's the same stage from On This Blank Canvas I Paint, since this is an Ena event almost as much as it's a Mizuki event. But, it is first and foremost a Mizuki event. Ena gets the stage itself, but Mizuki gets this.

There's a big pink bow and that's very cleanly Mizuki, but there's also something else. Each of the singers get a window overlooking a bright and colorful nighttime cityscape, a window without any curtains. I was actually hoping it was specifically Mizuki's window, but it's not.

But Mizuki's room does have a large window with very iconic curtains, so I think it's still intentional paired with the big ribbon above it, that this is supposed to call to mind Mizuki's window but without the curtains hiding it. It may represent how, following the events of her sister leaving but herself joining N25, Mizuki can look out into the city now, and see hope and possibility. It's not a time to struggle with wanting to disappear, but a strange new world that opened up.

It is after those events, after all, over the course of that one year before the Main Story, that Mizuki chooses to embrace her cute style without having her sister to protect her, and gets a part-time job at an apparel shop that seems to sincerely let her be her authentic self there.

The Aftershow itself is Mizuki looking for Miku and Luka to show them that first music video she made with Ena, with the box and the ribbon, and everybody else finding their own way there, with Kanade mentioning offhand that she's in a slump. Mizuki is feeling emotional and asks to sing, and the lyrics of Kimi no Yoru wo Kure are about sleepless lonely nights in the city and feeling pitiful yet also being able to find hope for tomorrow too.

It's a song about the future but it's firmly rooted in the present, it's just a present that knows deep down that the future will be kind; it's very Mizuki. This ties into Luka's reflection about Mizuki at the end of Part 1 of her side story, that Luka was wrong about avoidance equalling complacency, but that Mizuki is making progress on her own terms.

In Megurine Luka: Choosing to Wait; Part 2, we see that Kanade is able to break through that creative slump after Mizuki invites everybody to a cafe to work on their parts in person together.

On the one hand, it's always been Mizuki who gets creative on ways to still involve Mafuyu in the wake of her mom cracking down on her, but on the other, it shows that Mizuki is changing. She's embracing feeling deeply connected with her groupmates.

In Part 2, Luka gets Rin to admit that N25 would never have worked on a song in person at a cafe at the point that Rin had joined the SEKAI, but in Part 1, Luka tells Miku that she's pretty sure Mizuki was lying when she said the reason she doesn't go to school is because it's boring. Miku asks why Luka hadn't asked Mizuki about it then, and Luka reflects to herself that she thinks Meiko may have been right about being delicate about Mizuki's situation, rather than simply being afraid of changing anything. Ena may no longer be making progress with Mizuki, but Mizuki is taking that initiative on her own.

If they all had to pick one console to use for the rest of their lives, what would they pick?

momoko is a flexible player. as i probably mentioned before; she’ll play almost anything you hand to her, regardless of the console.

despite not being keen on going outside, momoko has to play on the move very often. i think she’d appreciate a portable console for this.

but why limit yourself to a small screen once you’re home?

i think she’d pick the nintendo switch for its variability.

because i love projecting onto her, i’ll also say that momoko is fond of the wii as well. it wouldn’t be her choice, but it’s worth mentioning.

MIKU

miku is a master at strategy and puzzle games! her preferred console would be something small and simple. a handheld portable one, perhaps?

either the anbernic rg353m or simply a nintendo 3ds.

RIN + LEN

literally anything that you can play DDR on. that’s it. no console, just the DDR cabinet and they’re set.

LUKA

the arcade owner doesn’t play many games herself, surprisingly. most of her gameplay is done on the bar’s computer.

but regarding consoles…?

she’s definitely more oriented towards retro games than modern, so i’d imagine her choosing an older console in this situation. if she wanted to play a game released more lately, she’d simply borrow momoko’s switch.

luka would choose a sega dreamcast!

MEIKO

meiko is a flexible player much like momoko, but she has a clear preference for racing games! whether it be a handheld console or not, she’s always eager to hit the road.

unless we’re talking actual cockpit simulators, meiko would opt for a console which offers a wide variety of these games.

for instance, i think she’d chose the playstation 5 thanks to how many racing games can run on it.

KAITO

kaito doesn’t really care what is he playing, as long as he’s not playing alone. any kind of multiplayer games is what he’s hoping to play, especially when it’s coop platformers.

that being said, he’d panic and not choose anything. he’d end up just playing with meiko on her ps5 like the pathetic man that he is.

but because i feel bad for him, he’ll get a gameboy advance as a compensation for when he’s alone.

Going with the one thing my first dump avoided: Story

The wof au admittedly has a less developed story than my Wolf au, since the first is mainly an art project and the second a writing project. Still there's enough to share

The general gist is that a worldwar has started, because of the Sandwing Succession (like in the first arc) That thing has been going on for a bit less than in the books, i.e the first Nightwing tunnel has just been made, the arena is still new and flawed (hence the Great Escape) and the Mudwings had freshly broken their alliance to the Seawings (I barely see any talk on this, but Queen coral mentioned it in her very reputable scroll "How the Seawings ended the Great War and saved the world!" and who wouldn't trust her writing?)

There is no prophecy (Tsunami would be so happy lmao), but there's an antiwar movement like the Talons of Peace, called Sekai (I want to turn it into an acronym of sorts, but I haven't figured it out (sob))

Leoneed

Leoneeds is a mixed group of dragonets who grew up in the desert together. When the war started there was an issue with the Tenma Clan (who ownes the oasis) not showing allyship to one of the warring princesses. Especially while having a Mudwing and even an Icewing princess as close friends. Naturally hostility grew and Bole left the group out of fear, followed by Snowhare, who returned to Icekingdom.

A bit before the breakup, so around the start of the war, Fennec has fallen majorly ill. But she recovered a solid while after Snowhares departure and immediately took chase (with Star of course) Although Icekingdom is closer to the Tenma Oasis they decided that going to Mud Kingdom first would be safer. There they stumble across ln Miku (Glimmeringfate? idk yet, the loid name list is still spotty), who for the lack of a better word adopted them. She brought them to a Sekai hideout, there me brain stops :(

(the Leoneed art also stops here, although the drawing of Ichisaki meeting Migu was scrapped :/ Might redraw it when I reach the third rotation, but that could either happen in winter or next year (when my brain's still shackled to this project lmao))

The Leonieloids are all Sekai members

There's not that much of a story here. I am so sorry mmj fandom (I say to the mirror)

Still there are some things I can mention :<

The general gist was: Veterans uniting to bring hope to the war ridden land.

I had some thoughts around their involvement with Sekai, but I can't find them :'3 The unsure voice in my head says it was that they made some reformation efforts, so probably something like that, mixed with encounters from the past like with Arisa (oh that would actually be so cool, wait woah Woah (<- the curse grows stronger))

Mmjloids are all Sekai members aswell. Most have history with the blorbos, so Otter and Meiko, Penguin and Miku, Finch and Rin/Len and Thaw with Aurora (Luka)

VBS

The kiddos are in the arena (I hopefully established lmao). Together they scheme another escape. An escape that'll surpass the great escape by RaDder i.e ending arena battles ones for all. They were quite successful in finding more and more allies, but due to circumstances they had to escape on their own, leaving the arena as it was. They went up finding RaDder in a Sekai hangout. And with them they plan a way to not only stop the Arena battles, but also overthrow Chimera (although those are inherently connected. Like the arena battles would have remained if Scarlett stayed ruler yk?)

All Vbsloids are Sekai members/affiliated, most joined the organization with RaDder. Dromedar (Vbs Luka) is more of an honorary member, since she mainly works as a merchant.

Wxs

Well my previous dump already mentioned that the clown troop is simply put: Sun trying to find Fennec, with the rest hanging around +sidemissions...so many sidemissions. I always thought of their part in the au story as "Villain of the week" style, focusing more on their relationships and all the conflicts those may have. They also are the only group not really affiliated with Sekai. Most of the Loids are Rainwings for that reason (not to mention that the snorting crack Sekailoids are naturally part of the snorting crack tribe. You can't look at catgirl Migu and tell me she's not a Rainwing)

There is something noteworthy around Directors animus abilities. I can't imagine Rui Kamishiro not falling into a Stonemover like "My magic causes harm. I'm a horrible monster deserving of solitude" mentality. (not to mention he's essentially the Stonemover of the au)

Niigo

Niigo I had some thoughts. We have the common Mafumom debacle, although that's more of a... gradually overtaking the kingdom through your animus daughter thing, than the canon "My child will be a doctor" conflict.

I think niigo would have somewhat decent hangouts, till Oyster (niigo Miku who's the Seawing princess) finds Siren to check up on Jellyfish. During that meeting Siren sees a vision of Oyster being killed by Jellyfish. Something that naturally unsettles the local "I bring death and doom" believer. Especially since Jellyfish has kept her goodest girliest behavior for the entire time.

Therefore investigations starts! Now we have the all too common question of "What is the cause of this seawing animus massacre?"

or

2. The highly abusive environment

....

Well Charming and Kite at first believe 1. for self-loathing and prejudiced reasons. But gradually Kelps (Mafumoms name... that's why Jellyfish was depicted swimming in a Kelp forest) influences come clear and through some events which I... actually will keep hidden in case I do something with em...they lead from the mafumom conundrum to my beloved Mizuena dilemma.

The gang leaves the island, but before that Charming has to use an enchantment. That naturally hints at them being an animus.

And how most Mizukis'll do in the case of an upcoming outing, Charming runs. Or more flies, although they're a Rainwing, so we could say they disappeared.

In the niigo Story Sekai is involved, Lionfish (Niigo Rin) who is Oysters bodyguard is affiliated with Sekai for the sake of her brother Seahorse (niigoLen). Also Barakuda (niigoKaito) who's the Seawing queens brother and niigo Luka, although she is more of an honorary... not really honorary... member. Mangrove (niigo Meiko) is a Rain/Mudwing spy :Vc

I could talk more, but...I think I worked on this dump for over 5h (with glee I must say)

There's still a lot to yap about (we haven't yet reached the succulent hyperniche spot) but it's a bit more of the general gist (and I think we now caught up with what the folks on insta know)

;; their personalities and whatnot are mostly the same. minori is super energetic and hopeful, for all except three hours of the day where she's the opposite (luckily she's usually asleep), haruka is haruka except sleep deprived and the guilt complex is worse, talking to airi is a 50/50 on whether she'll glare at you or walk away and shizuku... we'll get to that.

;; their sekai is the fairytale sekai and it's basically a massive forest, except for the one massive clearing that has a stage. except the stage is not in good condition..

;; each vocaloid is based off of a different fairytale thing. miku (princess) and luka (witch) are their starting vocaloids, but (in order) rin (some sorta forest spirit-esque thing) shows up in colour of myself, meiko (mythical creature tamer) shows up in you deserve it! break time!, kaito (royalty) shows up for worldwide wander and len (also some sorta forest spirit-esque thing) shows up at some other point that i haven't decided.

;; the order of events is slightly shuffled, only because colour of myself needs to be first. because colour of myself is the "shizuku quit your job" event. did i mention that she didn't quit during the main story? yeah she never gets the push she needs to quit and stays there. -> because the cloverdamned turning point quote is haruai

;; which leads back to the "and shizuku... we'll get to that." comment. yeah she's not doing well. she's been balancing work and these meetings (one of which she enjoys and finds comfort in. hint: it isn't the one involving her groupmates who hate her) so she's stressed, dealing with perfectionism and all that.

;; at some point in colour of myself, minori gets really sick and shizuku is very iffy about it. (her and rin were witness to minori starting her "sekai research", part one of which was to eat plants in the sekai. something bad happened.) that's the most random fact anyway continuing on

;; minori solves her problems in every event by getting a whole lot of sugar in her system, acting like 'normal' then sugar crashing at about four am. which is when she sleeps for three hours or just cries for no discernable reason. then she repeats this at seven am.

;; group relationship wise is funny because. minori is more chill about being in a group with the other three (having worked out their identities way before they all worked out each others and having time to process that).

Kanade: "Len also has knowledge of composing and music theory that only Aoyagi and I knew, apparently..."

Saki: "He's really soft-spoken and shy, but it's really fun watching his performances!"

Airi: "Yeah, when we first met him, I honestly didn't expect too much with how quiet he was..."

Touya: "He's a very talented musician and idol. I'm sure everyone in SEKAI is proud to have him as their manager."

Kanade: "MEIKO is also pretty skilled too, although she's a bit strict."

Airi: "That training menu she came up for us was brutal..."

Saki: "It really was... I had to take so many breaks in between exercises, ahaha..."

Kanade: "My legs were so weak after that I could barely walk..."

Touya: "MEIKO is really determined to do her best as an idol, after all."

Airi: "Yeah, we definitely can't lose to her. I'm really grateful for her help, though. She and everyone else in our SEKAI have been really invaluable to us as idols."

Saki: "Oh, that reminds me, Rin-chan is also really ambitious like MEIKO-chan, too! But instead of being strict, she's kind of silly and likes making us laugh!"

Touya: "The way Rin acts makes me feel a bit nostalgic."

Kanade: "Really?"

Touya: "Yeah. She's kind of like how Momoi was on TV, isn't she?"

Saki: "Right, right? Rin-chan is so fun, just like my favorite~ idol Airi-chan!"

🎃Gakupo's Haunted Mansion🦇 (A Vocaloid x Reader fic) Part 1

TW: slight mentions of suicide, death, violence, blood, etc etc.

You got out of your house and went outside, where your best friend Miku was waiting. She smiled as she saw you, her hands holding a small bag meant for storing candy, decorated in various shapes and colors. "Ready to go?" She chirped with a smile, her two ponytails swaying as she turned around. You nodded and followed her eagerly "Yeah, lets go".

It was Halloween and you and Miku agreed to spend the night together trick-or-treating. She was dressed up in a white, bloody dress that also had a few holes here and there, and she had fake blood drawn over her hands, a few splatters on her face too. As for you, you dressed as an extremely old puppet, like one of those creepy dolls who are possessed by a little girl's spirit or something. The two of you went down the sidewalk, going from house to house, asking for candy. As of now you passed only a few houses and your bags were already half full. Damn, the people sure were generous this year. As you walked down the road in silence with her, she suddenly turned her head to you and smiled

"So, ever heard of the spooky story about Gakupo's haunted mansion?" She had this certain glimmer in her eyes, almost hoping you'll say no so she can have the satisfaction of telling the story. You blinked a few times, trying to figure if the name rang any bells but nothing. "No i haven't.." you shook your head, expecting her to tell you about it. Her smile widened a bit and she started "Well, it all started with a guy named Gakupo. He used to live in the 19th century and he was a pretty wealthy man, had a huge mansion and all. He had a wife that died much before him due to an illness. If i recall correctly, her name was Luka. Their family was famous, to the point alot of mafiosos had their eyes on them. It was risky for them to even live where they lived in that time, considering the area was pretty shady and all.."

She paused because you decided to chirp in "Where did he live exactly though?" You cocked your head curiously. Miku continued "He lived just outside Sekai city. But, to continue my story, he had seven children, all of them dying from a certain accident except one. For the last one, it was believed he, or she, got reincarnated, but nobody knows what exactly happened to them." You seemed a bit more invested now, the story really got your mind entangled "How did they die?.." You knew it was a bit morbid to ask about how someone died but, you were way too curious. Miku gave you a half smile and resumed "Well... As i mentioned before, their family was in great danger, due to how famous they got. So as soon as it was publicly known that Gakupo had children, they were all slaughtered at some point.

The first and oldest child was Meiko. The age she died at is unknown, but she ended up getting shot and was heavily wounded while she was coming back home late at night. She cried for help but, nobody heard her and eventually, she died from blood loss on the street." You felt a slight shiver run down your spine "Poor her..." Miku just nodded silently "Second child was Kaito. He happened to live for a few years longer than Meiko. He had an affair with an unknown woman, that ended up stabbing him to death, and once he was dead she burried him in the backyard of Gakupo's mansion in the middle of the night. It was only a few months later when the body was discovered."

"The third child was Gumi. She was only a kid when she ended up getting ran over by a carriage." Miku grimaced slightly, and you just felt bad and mortified for those people. "The third and fourth kid happened to be twins- Rin and Len. The farthest they could reach was their teenage years. Rin ended up getting kidnapped, and nobody knows where her body was, or if she was even alive to begin with. Len was absolutely horrified and he ended up taking his own life away, stabbing his throat with a knife. The sixth child was Teto. She's the only one who died from the same illness her mother died from. And the last child, nobody knows who it was, nor what happened to it. But there is a theory they got reincarnated, considering there was a person many years ago who went around saying they are Gakupo's child in their past life." She then finished and turned to you with a smile "But at the end of the day, its just a story. Whether that Gakupo guy and his family really existed, no one knows."

You looked at her with a bit of confusion. She just told that story in great detail, and she ends up saying it might not be true? "Well, does his mansion still exist somewhere?" Miku nodded "Actually, yeah it does. Though, nobody knows if the mansion really belonged to Gakupo or no, but its deffinitly old and it seems like its been around for quite awhile." Her expression then lightened up as she got an idea "While we're at it, wanna go check it out?" She seemed eager now, and even if you denied she'd pull you along anyways. Your eyes widened a bit "Are you sure? But its in the outskirts of the city... I dont think we should go there, especially so late at night.." Your eyes softened, concern glimmering in them.

"We'll be fine! Just follow my lead." She took your hand and you two took a turn, heading down the streets. It took you two a while, but eventually you reached the outskirts of the city, passing trough a large gate that was the entrance. You walked for a few more miles, nothing but a bunch of trees on each side of the empty, quiet and dark road. She then took a turn towards the trees, that were actually the forest. You could hear owls and even bats, and it spooked you slightly. The air became slightly chillier as you approached a graveyard.

Not what you'd expect. It was extremely misty, the ambient was definitely unsettling. Miku didnt say a word, just lead the way silently. Eventually, you stopped infront of a huge house, which looked like it wasnt taken care of in 200 years atleast. The glass from the windows were shattered completely, some wooden planks missing from the walls of the house. The roof had a huge hole on it, and the door was practically hanging loose from the doorframe. She then motioned you to follow her inside. She creaked the door open softly, in the house nothing but darkness. You saw a few furniture pieces here and there, like drawers or mirrors, but it was all mostly broken. You took out your phone and turned on the flashlight, trying to light your way trough the halls. Miku suddenly didnt seem as eager anymore, instead she was holding onto your hand a bit tighter. "Are you sure its even safe to be here?" You asked her softly. She glanced at you a bit nervously "It'll be fine... Im sure nothing will- EEP!" She squealed as a vase suddenly fell off of a drawer on its own, shattering into bits. Both you and Miku jumped back, holding onto eachother for dear life. Both of your faces were as pale as a dead person's face, both of your eyes widened, instincts on alert. "Did that just move on its own?.." You asked her in a shaky voice "I-... Yeah.." Miku gulped, regretting her life desicions.

BAM! The door behind you suddenly closed. You took a moment to wonder how it didnt fully break from the impact of the slam, but whatever. The both of you jumped again, and now you were certain you werent hallucinating. The air became colder and you started hearing some incoherent voices, but whatever it was it made you shit your pants. Miku held onto you even tighter, looking around as if expecting something will attack her. You then suddenly felt a shiver run trough your body. Almost as if something went trough you. You had no clue what it was, but you deffinitly had this strange feeling as if someone reached inside of your body and shifted your organs or something.

You then heard another sound, both of your heads turning towards the source. It was a small glass bottle that rolled down to your foot. You picked it up and observed it, some strange liquor in it. "What is that?" Miku asked as she took a closer look "Dont know.." You decided to open the cap and take a whiff. It smelled nice, actually. Like a bunch of flowers. You expected it would be worse, but for a suspicious liquid like this one, you were fairly surprised "Smells like roses" You replied to her, handing her the bottle. She took it and took a whiff aswell "You're right.." A few moments later, you started feeling weird. Your head was spinning and before you knew it, you fell to the ground and blacked out. Miku jumped "Y-Y/N!? Hey!" She yelled in concern and she quickly crouched down next to you. But she then suddenly felt the same dizziness you did, and a second later she fell to the floor next to you, both of you laying there unconcious, completely vulnerable.

songwriting with meiko 🎙️

i have a few things to comment abt this which will be isolated under the cut so the post doesnt get too bloated :] mainly small hcs about meiko/kaito/miku hhhh

an idea that briefly popped in my head when i was brushing my teeth that i did not want to let get away. it was ambitious and i liked the concept of using my hc'd versions of the younger crypton vocaloids (miku's beta design and meiko/kaito's v1 designs) interacting with each other, so i went for it. i designed the general vibe of the background in animal crossing, ol reliable for these kinds of things, since i knew i wanted to cram as much detail in the environment as i could. i made a post about it on my personal account here since i was quite proud of this build.

as i was decorating, i kept spontaneously making headcanons for the younger meiko/kaito/miku unit in order to understand how to populate their living space with accurate clutter. i ended up totally overdecorating the whole thing and only referenced a small portion of the interior (like, why'd i go so hard on thinking about the yard? thats just what happens when i try taking this route) but i did like some of the ideas i came up with to explain my decorative choices. here's just a ramble.

oh yeah i guess i should get something i mentioned in the tags of that art i made w all the crypton gang's "younger" versions out of the way: i hc the character vocal gangs' "younger" designs to be their "IF" or beta designs. and meiko and kaito's younger versions are their V1 designs, mainly inspired by how they appear in the earlier project diva games (every time i look at them i just see them as awkward teens still trying to figure out who they are lmao)

also mentioned there that sakine meiko and meiko are one in the same and the fanloid and vocaloid arent separate entities. sakine meiko was meiko in her early music career as a relatable teen pop idol, with the "sakine" family name being made up to create that image. once meiko grew into an adult, she put the persona behind and just went by meiko, and around that time she met kaito and theyd be musical partners for a while

meiko sort of adopts miku into their unit when she recognizes her potential and serves as a mentor to her after then. kaito is the same but acts more as a supportive guardian in comparison. rin, len, and luka would come along later of course.

yeah i really fuck with the idea of the crypton gang being a little family :] i think it's neat! and this art/animal crossing build was a fun way to explore that hc a little

meiko is a physical media fiend, especially for music. loves collecting cds and vinyls and the like; they're littered all over the house. loves rock music too

kaito on the other hand has a knack for gardening and tends to the very modest garden outside their house. also collects a lot of art he finds in thrift marts and such for novelty's sake

miku always dedicated herself to improving her craft and finding her voice thanks to the help of meiko. she was also kind of a nerd at this era. very serious and dedicated

these folks did not know how to clean shit up, everything left lying on the floor ends up being an intentional decoration (probably not clear in this but i did like scattering stuff around to the best of my ability in the AC build)

one-liner on the loading screen: an online group that specializes in game osts, minecraft, and the occasional piracy

summary: sekai.start(self); (often abbreviated as Start, Startself, or SSS), was created by Minecraft user sunny_lakes. ‘Sunny’ because she’s cute and sweet and a die-hard omori fan and ‘lakes’ because it's pretty and calming and she’s also a die-hard Taylor Swift fan

backstory: The group was formed because none of them had any social life or meaning. They were like “make a music group? Yeah sure why not. I need money anyway.” It started when a girl namd Usada Kiku, on Minecraft as user sunny_lakes, joined a popular youtuber’s (canned_man19) minecraft server and started building people houses for diamonds. Minecraft user エコー /ᐠ - ˕ -マ  (yes, with the kaomoji) gave her five stacks of diamonds after Kiku built a base for them (which really surprised Kiku. how the heck did someone get so many diamonds ??? also how the heck are there symbols in her name????). and uhh i havent thought beyond this

Her YouTube channel has thousands of subscribers because she’s just that good at building. She also thinks of very creative ways to defeat the Ender Dragon. Not to mention the hacking videos she does that she herself doesn’t think are funny (I do it all the time ??) but her community goes wild over it. She composes most of the soundtracks. 

Emi - she’s really cute, but not the kindest. jirai kei girly <333 will probably dox you. has your ip address and credit card number somehow. she edits, mixes, and masters the music along with Kiku. selfie girl prolly. i also can't find a single good picrew for her so just have that for now. her pupils are off-centered flowers, she has a bunny hairclip, and there are pink streaks in her hair.

Fuuki - hacker. she’s x-raying in minecraft and you can’t ban her for some reason. she gave herself more power than the mods, than the admin themselves. she could take down the entire server within seconds but she won’t because she doesn’t care to. she doesn’t really commit much to actually making music, but she pirates all the music programs the others use because everyone’s too broke to pay for anything. also probably goes by she/they (demigirl) but i'm too lazy to change that rn

Kamui - ah, the traumatized one. she has a sad backstory and glues herself to their screen to disassociate. she’s always doomscrolling on social media and is definitely not healthy (showers probably aren’t in her vocabulary). she wears a mask to cover their face because she believes she’s the ugliest person on earth. also because they have breathing problems that their parents won’t treat so she has to anyway. she’s the artist that draws the backgrounds and stuff for the osts. also transfem and goes by she/they. who accepts them ? no one ha suffer (i’m kidding i love you my sweet child)

Electronic Sekai: 

Start’s sekai. It’s kind of like a big room full of all sorts of technology. Lots of LED lights and stuff. Except since the whole room is basically a computer, Fuuki has hacked it numerous times to benefit herself. 

uhh that's basically it. they were actually originally supposed to meet on fortnite but i dont play fortnite so minecraft was easier. why did i put so much thought into a joke unit ;-;; (but i love them) btw all the picrews are in their artstyle (or just their style. only one person there can actually draw)

Mirage of Light, Episode 3

Mafuyu finds Mizuki in SEKAI, playing dress-up with Rin. Rin tells Mafuyu that Mizuki comes to SEKAI often, and Mizuki actually opens up to Mafuyu about why and the way she really feels.

Miku and Rin will occasionally mention Mizuki trying to play with them, and Mizuki will occasionally mention little things she wants to show to them. Mizuki has an alibi for this question, and she has ran with far less before.

She confides in Mafuyu here, but the question becomes why. Kanade respects that Mizuki doesn't want people to pry into her emotions or problems, and Mizuki's been working overtime keeping Ena in the dark that she even has any, so why wouldn't she try to deceive Mafuyu?

There are a few potential reasons.

Mizuki's loneliness is hurting her so much that she couldn't take hiding it from everybody and caves when it's Mafuyu alone. This would be another case of Mizuki's true feelings, that she wants lifelong friends, undermining her attempts out of fear to stay distant.

Mizuki feels connected to Mafuyu and thinks Mafuyu could understand if she told her. In Mizuki: A Moment of Jest; Part 2, Mizuki summarizes the ways she relates to and understands Mafuyu, reasons persistent throughout the Main Story as well.

Mizuki suspects Mafuyu already knows; Empty SEKAI is a manifestation of Mafuyu's feelings, and Meiko, a living part of that world, sees right through Mizuki and knows exactly what she's doing to herself and why.

Mizuki worries that if she gave an evasive answer, Rin would give a true one and expose her.

Masking in front of Mafuyu might take away the comfort that she initially came to SEKAI that day for, and her options became leave abruptly when Mafuyu's been struggling with troubling emotions she doesn't understand yet, or confide in her.

Mizuki was moved that Mafuyu seems to want SEKAI to be a safe place for her and gave her permission to stay.

Whatever the reason, this is also when we the readers learn that Mizuki doesn't just come to SEKAI for fun or to play with the Virtual Singers. She comes here when she's feeling down, which Rin says is quite often.

It isn't that Mizuki simply has nobody to confide in, but that Mizuki is convinced that her life is a path she has to walk without lifelong friends, that everyone but herself will reject her. This was the theme of her internal conflict in Secret Distance. Even if she is intent on keeping Ena, Kanade, and Mafuyu in the dark about her secret and by extension about her pain and her vulnerability, Mizuki still has people in her life who do know her secret and who are kind to her. She has her older sister Yuuki who lives overseas, she has An who's friendly to all her classmates but readily accepts Mizuki, and she has Rui, who Mizuki used to be really close to in middle school.

After Mizuki helps Mafuyu to reach the breakthrough that Mafuyu used to genuinely be happy but that the joy became a mask at some point, Mafuyu leaves and Rin asks Mizuki how she figured it out. In Mizuki's reply, we catch a glimpse of what ever happened between her and Rui.

There simply isn't anyone else Mizuki can be talking about. In Secret Distance, we saw flashbacks to her in middle school, back before she transitioned, and we saw her reject everyone around her, her reflecting that there's no point in trying to make friends. In Kamiyama High Festival, we see more of how pre-transition Mizuki pushes everyone away and how much Rui had to fight not to be just another one. In that same event story, we also see that Rui succeeded in giving Mizuki a friend; Mizuki started coming to the rooftop on her own to see him and they bonded over being loners.

Here, we learn why it seemed like Mizuki and Rui's friendship took a break at some point. Their reunion in Kamiyama High Festival Episode 6 felt estranged, like they hadn't spoken in a long time, and earlier when she spotted Rui having fun in rehearsal, Mizuki didn't feel like she could say hi despite feeling moved by seeing Rui happy.

Rui hides his own sadness behind a mask, and Mizuki reflects here that she alienated him by refusing to let him do so. In fact, we caught a hint of this in Kamiyama High Festival Episode 7, where Mizuki says Rui following his passion is the reason people leave him behind. He bounced back from it, but that event story and the flashbacks in Secret Distant both highlight that pre-transition Mizuki was a bitter and cold person.
