OK, got a couple more of these things to do this year but we made it to October and hey, it was my birthday month! Also, spooky month and well, all of that is gone now and what I got left is the albums I listened to in October… even though there isn’t much for me to talk about. I mean, there’s one album that came out that I hope the review is up by now but most of the stuff that came out happened…

i have been considering the b&w medium lately, for comics & games. when it comes to film/animation, i still would prefer to use color as a tool for expression. monochrome aesthetics are very collaborative with the fans. when i thincc of successful art that pushes the boundaries of what could be possible in the mind-rendering by viewers of that piece of art, i always thincc of JJBA fan colors!

Ok, I'm an explorer, adventurer, actually go places where a coat like that would be needed. This is pure visual style. Will it be warm? Sure, when battling the crowded tube in Paris, I'll know where you are by the color. Will it work in force 5 wind at -20? I doubt it. There is nothing wrong with synthetic insulation, but the fact that they specificly don't say anything about the performance of this jacket means it is only for show. I hate things that are only for show.

Lets look at a real one:

This is for summiting, where the danger of damage is minimal.

This one of course everyone knows. It works. Big pockets for gloved hands. Reinforced fabric where needed, and adjustable everything. Its also got the marketing clout to go with it. This is not what real explorers wear however. This is just marketing.

What do people who actually skii to the poles wear?

Anoraks. Its a shell. Its wind proof. Its water proof. Its warm. Its $450. Its made in the USA to your liking.

Those big puffy coats are GREAT when they are needed. But when working hard, generating a lot of heat, like skiining to the poles, climbing Rainer, or generally moving about in sub zero temps, you want layers, and not a giant puff.

I LOVE my expedition jacket, but its big and heavy. I would say 80% of the when moving through the field, its laying on the pulk, or tied to my pack. I just wear a fleece. I get so hot that I don't need 16 geese wrapping me up.

However, when we stop to dine, I immediately want my big coat. That's when they are most useful. Sitting still.

The one I use is an Eddie Bauer down parka. Its 800 fill, storm proof (personally tested), water proof (personally tested), seam sealed, ethically sourced down, rated to -40 (ehhhhh it was cold), wind proof (personally tested), and machine washable (definitely tested). I have the white one pictured above. It definitely doesn't look like that anymore. I modified it to make it more expedition friendly, with long zip pulls for gloved hands, and more high-viz options.

The thing about Eddie Bauer is that they will make a product which is amazingly better than everything else on the market, realise they charged too little for it, and quickly change the product taking out most of the good, keeping the visual appeal, and selling it for $150. Fine. Glad I got a real one while I was at it.

See, the Down Parka you find on their website now doesn't have a temperature rating anymore. It used to.

Same with their First Ascent line. Every now and then you will find something real, and you better grab it while its cheap. Because they will quickly change the product to be less good. Its the one thing I dislike about their marketing.

But seriously - If you are in the market for Canada Goose, buy Helly Hansen.

Sometimes people thing you need to spend $2000 on a coat or it is not real. This is wrong. You need to dress for success. These coats are for not moving a lot. As soon as you start moving around, its coming off. Hope that helps!

Ninaa acabei de descobrir que fiz merda 😫 tô fazendo um monte de entrevistas p meu tcc e p facilitar na hr de mandar e-mail pra pedir as entrevistas, montei um texto padrão.
