I'm sorry but why do shows all of a sudden get a British dub???

As far as I know Robocar Poli still doesn't have a proper s5 dub but has a British one for the rest of the seasons. Octonauts are going through their most miserable state so far to the point where the og show is getting taken die from Netflix and we have to pirate it. Who's next? Super Wings? Robotrains?? Bluey???

It'll be real funny if all these series, expect Bluey for obvious reasons, get an Australian dub.

All this time, I thought Megumi Ogata was the voice of Hiro. I have no idea why; after looking up some clips to refresh my memory, they don't even sound that much alike.

​Perhaps you got it mixed up with the recent announcement of Ogata voicing Rui in The Beginning? That certainly got all of us running around screaming that such a big-ticket A-lister was going to be on Digimon (not that Digimon doesn’t have A-listers, Ghost Game does have a few of them already, but I mean, seriously, it’s Ogata Megumi -- I heard the crowd couldn’t help but go completely nuts at DigiFes at her surprise appearance even though they weren’t supposed to be making noise), so her name’s been on the mind lately.

Hiro’s voice actress Tamura Mutsumi is comparatively up-and-coming; she's been a voice actress since 2007, but at the time she was cast as Koushirou in tri. she was still fairly obscure. After that she got a string of really prominent roles in games and anime and by the time she was cast as Hiro she was already super popular. So it's only the last handful of years she's been particularly prominent in the industry, but right now I swear every other thing I hear of has her in it, so she seems to be doing quite well!

Since you often draw enemies from Nintendo games, perhaps a Zoomer/Geemer from the Metroid series?

Wow what a great first request!! I'm not a big Metroid fan (yet, anyways), but I do like these little guys. Do most people accept Geemer as the Goomba of the Metroid games? That's how I see them.

I think you might've alluded to this in a previous post, but when an octopus in Japanese media is portrayed with a sucker mouth, that's supposed to be its air siphon? I've been curious about the sucker mouths for a long time.

Come to think of it, this does have a weirder explanation than people probably realize.The body of an octopus is actually structured like this:

The “back” of its “head” is a pocket-like mantle that hangs down, and the breathing siphon sticks out of that, but can be moved around.When the octopus is on the seafloor, it sticks the siphon out of one side, like this:

When an octopus SWIMS, it sticks the siphon straight out of its underside, like this:

So how did cartoonists, particularly Japanese cartoonists, come to think of that as the octopus’s mouth if it’s not only not a mouth, but never naturally held out front?Quite simply because most Japanese people were more familiar in their everyday lives with octopuses in their cooked form.

You can just kind of see it in this photo, but once you steam a whole octopus the siphon really sticks straight out, and if that’s the side you’re looking at, it looks very much like a little round, cartoonish mouth between its eyes.So, centuries of eating octopuses this way means that this is the default concept of an octopus’s “face” in Japan:

I think the only time I have ever, ever seen this lampshaded was in an episode of the original Dragon Ball, when Goku fights a giant, talking octopus and tries to clog what he thinks is its “mouth” with a boulder. The octopus brags that that’s actually its “nose” and shows goku its real mouth, though instead of the bird-like beak cephalopods actually have, he had jaws like a shark:

I guess it’s a lot like how we tend to portray all crabs, shrimp and lobsters as red in cartoons, even though they’re usually species that only turn red after they’re cooked.

On further reflection, if it means they'll be spared the same treatment in spin-off games, perhaps it's for the best that modern Atlus has no interest in touching Persona 1 and 2 (though, if that somehow changes, at least Persona 2 only has one high school lady to sexualize).

I mean, it’s not solely an issue with the spin-off games. The high-cut armor was in at least the original P3FES, and P5 has some pretty rough story issues regarding how it treats it’s female characters.

I just find it weird that these two dancing games were made at the same time, and the P3 one STILL feels like it respects it’s female characters a little more.

best thing about being a lesbian: just everything! everything about being a lesbian holds so much pride for me, i think the best part is the label. i love the word “lesbian”!

how do you feel about the tumblr ‘soft innocent lesbian’ aesthetic?  i love it in theory! i love the cuteness of a label that is being soft and a lesbian. my only issue is when it starts to reduce lesbians JUST to that label, and create a stigma against lesbians experiencing sexual attraction towards women. like lesbians can be very soft and innocent, but there’s also nothing wrong with being a lesbian and wanting to have sex. and the label sometimes reduces lesbians mutually to being soft and innocent.

ever been to pride? If so tell a story from then: i have been to a few pride events!!!! i’ve been to one in lexington twice, and one in louisville and in bowling green! they’ve all been fun experiences so far, i remember at one of them there was a food truck that only sold types of grilled cheese!! and i got a rly good one with goat cheese on it, and my friend claire got to order food not under her deadname for the first time and she was so thrilled and it was her first pride and i loved seeing her experience her first pride!

17. i have been to like 4 or 5? they’re a lot of fun, but super overwhelming after too long. the best part is the food truck food and the gay memorabilia
