Feelings.... Ughghugh...
I've watched it twice now fully through. First time you tend to miss things. Second time I watched a little closer. Now I'm sorta jumping around. Ughguhg... Grimmons Feels under the cut~ Spoilers to High Hell and Back and tagged as such!
While we got a lot of comedic and funny moments with the boys, and some touching moments as well, and also just some sick animations, we did get this:
I'm not sure what song this is that plays at this moment - I know it's been repeated through the show a number of times (I thought for a moment it was Hate Glue but it's not, but I DO think it's been used specifically for these two... It was also the last song during the credits) That, to me, was everything. That flat out felt like a confession. Maybe others could read it as just being like 'You're my BFF let's both gtfo.' But the way it was delivered; especially knowing Simmon's knew how much that meant for Grif. And as Grif goes on his little rant, Simmon's response isn't 'No', or 'I can't', it's that he wants to help Caboose with this threat because he cares about Caboose, and what Sarge had wanted for them. Which in turn convinced Grif to also stay for this Last Bastion deal. They were both aware they could die during this fight. Then their last scenes:
Vale Deah is playing during this. I listened to it - never had before but, fuck, there's undertones in that song. Anywho, again Grif is reaching out here, and while Simmon's is quick to say he won't go back to Earth, it felt more like their banter than an actual outright dismissal. And that 'Okay. Sure.' IS his answer to both 'Come with me' and this conversation. Simmons still wants to make something out of himself before he can feel justified leaving. He knows Grif's been through enough. He might, might even know about Grif's first posting, and how the man has now lived through a total of five Near-Death Experiences (Outpost, Tank, Cliff, Chorus Crash, MetaTuck)
. . . . I give it a Year before Simmon's shows up on Grif's doorstep in Hawaii.
And that's being generous.

Okay so I’ve been rewatching season 9 of Rvb since it’s the season I’ve skimmed over the most, mostly just to watch the freelancer stuff, and with the wording and some thinking things over I don’t thing they created a new Tex, not completely.
Okay so in Restoration it’s said that the capture unit and the memory unit are two different things when it’s shown as the same item in prior seasons, likely to set a divider so the audience could understand the abilities of both devices, anyway in Season 9 Church is looking for Tex within the Capture unit however Church calls the unit they are currently in the Memory unit, which it technically is. At the end of Season 9 Church “forgets” Tex and lets her go, deleting her… Or he instead Forgot her files, leaving an Ai within the memory unit but without personality, none of what made her her, similar to what Epsilon did at the end of 13, stripping himself down to his barest form.
So what that means is that Caboose, Simmons, and grif didn’t actually create a new Ai, what they did was just giving the Ai a form/Helping the Ai remember who it once was, Similar again to epsilon. Back in the end of Reconstruction, throughout relocated and Recreation, Caboose is shown telling stories to Epsilon, this was giving Epsilon a form, Epsilon had a lot of Memories of Alpha and the other fragments and the such but didn’t see itself as Alpha as Church, But with Caboose’s help Epsilon slowly took on the identity of Church because Caboose was constantly feeding the Memory unit Memories and stories of Church and what happened.
Anyway that’s why I think the return of Tex can make sense and isn’t just, “Oh they made a new Ai cause they can now”, it all can make sense it just needs memory

Sorry if you’ve already answered this but wheres the best place to watch rvb?
tubi has it, but censored (bleeped out fucks and cut bits) and weirdly ordered. its kind of really hard to pirate through traditional streaming means because for the longest time it was completely free on youtube, and the episode lengths mean websites dont know how to show it.
i recently reblogged a link to a google drive containing the first 15 seasons, but if you dont want to use that, my recommended way to watch would probably be s1 on rooster teeths official youtube, but then the rest of its paywalled there, and s2 is the only one i cant find reuploaded by others on yt, so go watch s2 on their official site, then go back to youtube and just search "red vs blue season (3,4,5, etc)" to find the rest.
also, if youre watching for the first time, there are 3 miniseries you should watch, also all on youtube. Out of Mind between seasons 4 and 5; Recovery One between seasons 5 and 6; and Relocated between seasons 6 and 7. theres some other stuff in that playlist but these are the plot important ones - the others are silly stuff you should leave til youre finished.
and if youre wondering why seasons are typically just seen as one video, its because rvb was originally uploaded in 5-10 minute long episodes, so its easier to just watch seasons as movies. i hope this helped! it was definitely much easier to watch when it was on netflix lol

RVB watch order for @unusual under cut ^_^ If anyone else wants to use this though go nuts obvi
First off you can find the full seasons on the Internet Archive HERE, I suggest watching the full seasons instead of ep-by-ep since the archive formatting has an issue where it might jump you around episodes out of order. Most of them should have CC : ]
Here's my recommended order though:
S1-S4 -> Out Of Mind -> S5 -> Recovery One -> S6 Trailer -> S6 -> Relocated -> S7 Trailer -> S7-S10 -> MIA -> WTAWTAW -> S11 -> S12 Trailer -> S12-S13 -> S14 -> S15-S17 -> Restoration Trailer -> Restoration -> RVB Zero
Anything with a name is a miniseries (save for Restoration which is more of a movie situation), they should be on the IA page but if not lmk and I'll find you a link : ] You DO need to watch the listed trailers, they have plot relevance!
Season 14 is an anthology, if you ONLY want to watch the canon episodes they are as follows: 2, 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 19 (My fav), 21, 22.
I consider RVB Zero optional. This is because it 1. Is bad 2. Doesn't follow the original cast. Some people suggest watching it before Restoration since it came out before Restoration, I recommend watching it after because it is chronologically further in the future.
THERE IS MORE THAN THIS. I do not recommend seeking it out until you've seen the main series because there is so fucking much of it and it is not plot relevant.

RvB rewatch: Relocated
Being so real I’m pretty sure I watched this mini series one time so I legit remember almost nothing about it so I’m very excited to finally watch it again
Grimmons having their old married couple vibes per usual
Yo the way the camera zoomed in on Caboose was super cool
Sarge has a fear of heights
Love red team just being a bunch of little cockroaches who can’t be killed
Also love how they can selectively understand Lopez
Caboose being a little creeper
DONUT!!!!
Not a lot to say here. This was mainly just a goofy silly mini series. I greatly enjoy the shenanigans tho!

rvb anon again: shit you weren't kidding about the plot starting for real in season 6. it took a while, but im legit hooked now
HAHAH YEAH i told ya its crazy just the whiplash from how absolutely fuck nothing happens in the first 5 seasons and then as soon as season 6 starts the plot picks up out of nowhere. it gets way better from now on so i hope you enjoy it o7
also idk how far you are by now since i took a while to answer this ask but there are two short miniseries that are useful to watch before season 6, being "Out of Mind" and "Recovery One". after season 6 you can watch "Relocated" too theyre all on the rooster teeth website though idk where you are watching it. its honestly ridiculous how the miniseries are supposed to complement and go alongside the main seasons but rooster teeth just refuses to put them together so its extremely unintuitive to any new viewer, but what else is new

Some more Sister RElocation thoughts, in no particular order, that won’t get out of my head;
Chica and Golddy pairing off. Idk, just both are primarily white and yellow; Chica/Freddy is a popular ship but this is definitely a Freddy/Bonnie setting, so this makes everyone happy; the idea of the loud bird with the squawk box getting together with the muteish bear is a nice opposites attract thing; I think Chica would very easily and quickly take to mother henning the Bons
That would leave Roxy the only one without a ship…
Idk if there’s any ghost possession going on or if the various personality matrixes are based on real people. Like Ell, that’s Baby, who is Elizabeth. But is she actually possessing the animatronic, or did someone create an AI personality based on her? If it’s actual ghost, how did she get to England? If it’s just AI who did that and why?? Who else is based on people; are all the bots personalities based on real people?…or sourced from one person but fragmented perhaps? (Oh now my RvB is showing lol) Are they aware of that; they know they aren’t real people, but are they aware they are based on real people some how at some point??
Idk if Vanessa is an Afton…I actually sorta want her to be, but the timeline suggests she’s too young to be a child of William’s (from a second relationship…maybe even Charlie’s mother, idr what happened to her…that’s another whole thought train to derail). She could be a grandchild, but nothing suggests Mike had kids…I suppose she could just be an Afton in name…that she doesn’t use…blah. Mainly I wanted that because if Ell is Elizabeth in some form, think of the sibling rivalry/hatred that would bring up (especially if she is also an Emily, then there was cheating involved and breaking up the family more than just murders).
But then what about Charlie? Theories about Puppet being in the Mega Plex cords…but then again I’ve given the Fazcade to Lols. Then again-again, I've blended Mangle and Lolbit to a degree to make my Lols, so what's throwing a dash of Puppet/Marionette in there. If the personality matrixes are based on real people, could Lols be Charlie or Vanessa? Is that why Ell hates them so much? Also Lols adaptable coding could have Mimic linkage I suppose…but again why was she in England to start?
If Mrs Afton is running the show, will she have to yell at Ell and Lols to stop fighting, calling them Elizabeth and Charlotte, noting how the two girls always fought even when they were younger. Did Mrs Afton purposely hire Vanessa knowing she was her husband’s daughter?? Or was Vanessa hired through hacking…
I still don’t know if I want Bonnie to live. Before Ruin I liked the theory that Glam Bonnie went missing so his body was used for Burntrap. But that’s a no go…I also don’t know what I’m doing with Ballora either; Ell’s an antagonist and is fair game to kill, I know I’d like Golddy to survive and stay with the Bons at the Mega Plex (and pair off with Chica as stated above), and of course Lols stays with Monty, but Ballora…I don’t want to fridge her, but she is a prime candidate to do so…

Well RVB friends, I'm sorry to say... most of you were wrong! This was not a trick! I shall explain Poppy below (and Explain Junonia next)...
When Poppy was younger, she got abandoned by her family when they evacuated from an unsafe area on Earth. She wandered around on her own for a bit, and when she finally found a place with other people, it was a "private community" (that is- a zone for rich people) who didn't care about this scruffy little homeless child with no ID. She still got by on her own for a while, until another evacuation had to take place. This time, she couldn't get out of the area without ID (not her fault; her parents didn't exactly leave her birth certificate and social security card when they ran off without her). She was offered to join a "special relocation program" that supposedly offered a safe place for people without other options... which turned out to be going somewhere off-planet, working to make a new space station for some government organization! Poppy had always been good at messing with security cameras, so she fiddles with the ones here so she and the others can get food whenever they want. Because she made friend with the AI of the ship, Poppy also learns more about audio signals/radio waves. This is how she notices an enemy ship approaching.
Poppy tries to alert the people in charge, but they ignore her... until it's too late. The special agent in charge tries to leave escape and use the rest of the ship behind as a decoy, even disabling the AI so nobody can send a distress call, but this fails. Poppy realizes that without the AI, nobody here knows what to do... except her. Because the agent didn't want to be caught later leaving their duty, they didn't take their assigned armor with them. Poppy snags it, so the high-ranking crew of the ship think SHE'S in charge. Yep, Poppy hired herself, and also gave herself a promotion! She figures out how to re-direct energy shields of the ship to protect inner areas, allow it to look like the ship has been exploded, and by jamming the enemy ship's scanners, they can hind in the debris until it is safe to send a distress call. Poppy has to do it manually, with a lot of MacGyver-ing, but it works!
Another ship arrives to save the survivors, and the agents congratulate her for rescuing everybody... but they aren't surprised. After all, she's the FREELANCER ASSIGNED TO PROTECT PEOPLE ON THIS TRANSPORT. Poppy doesn't know what a Freelancer even is, but now she has to bluff her way through it. Yeah. Totally. Super cool, highly trained, special Agent California. That's her! Poppy keeps trying to slip away and escape on missions, but something always happens that keeps her around (usually civilians, Sim Troopers, or other agents that need help, and she can't just ignore them). She is stay the heck AWAY from the Leader Board though. She doesn't want ANY of that attention. As a result, Freelancer Cal has a reputation for being helpful and handy on missions (especially when it comes to causing distractions/intercepting communications), but generally quiet and somebody who keeps to herself.
Eventually, she's assigned to a group of Red and Blue Sim Troopers, and when they run out of ammo, she just doesn't order them more... Project Freelancer sounds like it is kinda losing control, anyway. Poppy doesn't want to go back and deal with THAT. Unfortunately, things go wrong anyway, and Poppy finally has the chance to just slip away. After all, Project Freelancer is officially OVER (Wash and Carolina stuff with the Blood Gulch Crew has been happening out there somewhere), she wasn't even a REAL Freelancer, nobody cares about her... except, these Reds and Blues did. She cared about them, too. She had a place where she finally wanted to STAY. Now, it's gone.
Poppy does move on, because she has to. Her files as Agent California get mostly erased in the wake of the Director trying to cover up various Freelancer Crimes, and Poppy stays under the radar for a long time. When Temple and his group raise a ruckus, everybody affiliated with Red/Blue Flag Zealots is designated a criminal, and just like that- BAM! Poppy is forced into a corner! Again! When the UNSC locates her, they give her the option; go through special training to prove she can be a "good soldier" or go to jail. Which isn't really much of a choice. Poppy kinda figures she could escape from wherever they'd lock her up... but whatever the "special training" is has her curious and worried. She usually tries to stay OUT of the middle of things, avoid direct involvement, never get in the spot-light, stay on the side-lines... but she wants to try and step up this time. Maybe she stop something bad from happening...
This is how she meets Sarge. This is how she learns that this "special training" is a plan to get all the left-over Flag Zealots and other soldiers to never question orders again. Because Sarge gets to know her, he listens when Poppy says this training is BAD. This is how Sarge gathers up his Red Team to face this problem head-on (exposing yet another crime of the UNSC). This is how Poppy finds a new place where she feels like... she can stay. This is how Red Team FINALLY GETS THEIR OWN FREELANCER! The Blues always get them all the time, but not this one! Oh, she technically wasn't a "real" Freelancer? Heck yeah, that just means she's a rule-breaking rebel, PERFECT FOR RED TEAM!
So, yeah. Poppy identity-thefted Agent California, and while she wasn't selected to be a Freelancer, she legit got Freelancer training while she was there!
I didn't have time all day, but I thought of something funny for the Project Freelancer/Charon Industries prompt...
My two main RVB OCs, Poppy and Junonia, both have complicated pasts that may connect them to the others more than they realize at first. So-
(I know I haven't shared a LOT about either of them, so this can just be whatever answer you think is funniest, or what you think the vibes are)

thoughts while rewatching Relocated
it could have easily been added to the beginning of season 7, it would have made more sense too, and made the season around the same length as the others in the recollection
why are the reds yelling at each other and not useing their short range radio's?

So I just spent a few hours working on my husband's hair. (He has dreads and I fix them for him when they get unruly...also I'm autistic and I love it...) The whole time my RvB polluted brain...
Almost everyone agrees Tucker has dreads
Who fixes his dreads for him?
I have decided Caboose would do it...
Maybe it happens randomly one day...
Tucker is frustrated because he has trouble with the ones in the back, he can't see them, or maybe he just can't reach them... So he asks for help from the only person he thinks wouldn't say anything rude about it. Washington would most likely suggest he cut them because it's not regulation. But he would rather die...he's worked so hard just trying to keep them nice in the middle of nowhere with no help...
So he goes to Caboose with his pack of latch hooks and a wish. Caboose looks at him for a moment when he asks, eyes moving from the hooks, to his hair, then back to his face. Tucker half expects Caboose to say no and call him stupid... But that doesn't happen, instead Caboose takes the pack of latch hooks with a shy grin.
"I thought you would never ask..." Caboose mumbles.
Tucker is taken aback a bit... What did that mean? Had Caboose wanted to help him the whole time? Thinking back on it he remembered Caboose walking in on him working on them before. He had asked questions about them. Tucker had answered them, albeit with irritation at the time. He had wanted Caboose to go away then, because he was busy...
Caboose had asked what the latch hooks were, how they worked. Tucker had blown the big guy off. Just telling him they were latch hooks for pulling the hair back into the dread and then interlocking them when the roots grew out to far. Caboose had left soon after, but the big guy had stayed for a bit. He must have been watching him do it?
Caboose had been doing just that watching as Tucker played with his hair, it looked nice he had always wanted to touch them. But Tucker was very protective of them, so they must have meant a lot to him. So Caboose didn't ask... but he did do a little research of his own looking up the latch hooks for more of an explanation on how they worked. He looked up the interlocking technique too he watched a few tutorials on it. Learning about it just in case...
Caboose grabs Tucker's arm and relocates them both to the lounge area, where they always watch shows and stuff when they weren't supposed to be killing each other. Sitting Tucker on the floor between his legs as he sat on the couch. Turning on the lamp so he could see better, before pulling a few of the hooks out with the sizes he thinks he needs judging from the size of Tucker's dreads.
"I have never actually done this before...I watched a few videos though...tell me if you think I'm doing it wrong...? I don't want to mess them up." Caboose says as he moves the dreads around so he can figure out which ones still need worked on and which ones Tucker already fixed.
Tucker was still sort of flabbergasted he hadn't expected this at all... He just lowered his head when he felt Caboose's big fingers start going through his dreads. "Okay... I just needed help with the ones in the back because I can't reach them."
Tucker focuses on the feeling of Caboose running the latch hook through the dread and pulling the loose hair back into it and then weaving the strands back up through the whole dread so they stay. Caboose does pull a little on the strands making Tucker hiss because it hurts but it happens and Tucker isn't mad about it, especially when every time it happens Caboose apologizes profusely for it. The big guy is obviously trying really hard.
Caboose is completely focused on his task and trying to do his best not to mess up. Once he's done weaving in the loose hair he puts a larger latch hook through the base of the dread and loops the dread through itself. He keeps doing this while changing the angle until the dread's base is all tightened up. So intensely focused he doesn't even notice his tongue is partly out as he holds it between his teeth. It's a little hard because his hands are so big and the latch hooks are small but he's getting the hang of it... Before too long...He's not sure how long...he was finally finished.
He moved the dreads around a bit making sure he got them all before announcing, "Okay, all done." He leaned up when Tucker didn't answer him checking on his teammate. Tucker was sleeping while leaned up against his leg. Caboose snorted a light chuckle as he shook Tucker awake. "Hey, I'm done...go check and make sure I didn't mess them up..." Caboose urged...although there was probably nothing he could do now if they were messed up...it was already done.
Tucker yawned and sat up before using the big guys leg as support to stand back up and head to the nearest mirror to check his hair. He was impressed with Caboose's work a smile spreading across his face as he inspected what he could see in the mirror. "Thanks, Caboose... Maybe we can do this again next time too?" Tucker proposed with a half questioning look.
"Yeah, I'd like that." Caboose said with a grin. Maybe Tucker wouldn't be so grumpy with him now... Caboose liked helping out. Tucker was his friend even if he was "stupid" most of the time...

Hi sorry if you’ve answered this before but do you know the “correct” way to watch all rvb content? I recently found out there’s like, bonus episodes outside of the main seasons and have no idea what order I’m supposed to be watching everything in. I’m doing a rewatch soon with my partner and just wanted to know if you knew, no worries if not!
yeah sure!
so what i'm guessing you're probably asking is about is the miniseries. the first two pretty much need to be watched for the plot in my opinion
seasons 1-4
out of mind miniseries
season 5
recovery one miniseries
season 6
relocated miniseries
seasons 7-9
MIA and WTAWTAW miniseries (two of them!)
season 10-onwards
there's also the chorus journals that take place before season 11 (these are technically a miniseries i think). bonus points if you include journal #4 which rt lamely left out of the compilation
if youre ever confused i recommend just looking up your current season on the rvb wiki, and the bottom of the infobox will let you know if theres a miniseries to be watched next
NEW EDIT: THERE ARE ALSO TRAILERS FOR THE SEASONS THAT INCLUDE ADDITIONAL CONTENT. These are like, dubiously canon, the RVB9 one in particular gets retconned pretty heavily, but should still be watched before their seasons. Here’s the ones that actually have original content and aren’t just montages of moments from the season.
reconstruction trailer (rvb6) / recreation trailer (rvb7) / rvb9 trailer / rvb12 trailer / rvb13 trailer
(also because i am so autistic: there’s also the original trailer that, iirc, was made like 6 months before they actually started making the series. it doesn’t really have a ton to do with what rvb would become but it’s definitely a cool artifact.)
(there’s also this rvb10 trailer which doesnt have anything new but is charming enough i want to save it on this post anyways, as well as this fanmade rvb13 trailer set to the chain by fleetwood mac that im obsessed with). END EDIT
the next layer of interpreting "all" rvb content includes the psas. psas are extra canonical content where the "actors" from the popular webseries red vs blue talk to the audience about a given subject. there's a few psa videos that were created alongside each season, but they can be watched whenever since they have no effect on the plot. i dont actually know of a good playlist for these this one seems to have the most videos. i think some psas might actually be lost media rn last i checked i should see if i can do anything about that
finally there's also deleted scenes and general rvb bonus content exists (like the end of season 5 which had several alternate joke endings) if you're interested in watching that. the person who uploaded journal #4 seems to have uploaded a lot of that and (sighs) hopefully i'll have some of that stuff up myself soon in a google drive or something
EDIT: forgot that i’d also consider this deleted rvb scene mandatory content. it was only cut because burnie made the decision that he didn’t want to mention tex too many times in season 6 in order to make it a better entry point for new fans. i think this was a horrible idea honestly and the added context about why church changed his mind at the end of the season is fantastic
#use adblock though#grif and simmons also have some dumb show airing rn but#im operating under the assumption they care more about their performance of ongoing rvb content and the state of the brand#more than they care about if rvbs miniseries comps are getting views. i might be completely wrong here
