I love that idea so much, that a lot of of culty “classic” romcoms are actually just veering on horror is now something I feel very strongly about

I agree! ‘The Notebook’ has such a case for it too: they try to get it on in an abandoned house??, all of Allie’s unresolved feelings for the summer haunting her when she’s older and without him- and the fact that they died together, holding hands!

Honestly, it’s interesting how you could make the case for a lot of romances, no matter the genre. Maybe ironic too

I think even the sappiest most heart-warming scenes (imagine Darcy descending the manor grounds with a very intent expression on his face) could be twisted into something a lot more terrifying

-And there’s definitely a bigger conversation about what we perceive as romantic and intimate expressions of love could be construed the other way on the outside looking in- and vice versa!
