Favorite blogs that you write with/follow?
This is not a complete list, so before anyone gets all sassafrass with me, check yoself. @frcshkills - Because from the minute I came back to indie writing, Skye and I found one another and totally wung a ship that has turned into something absolutely beautiful that no matter how big or small the interaction, it will remain absolutely one of my steadfast permanent ships. @hcrctic Because I love Wanda more than most marvel characters, and though I suck at interacting with Alie, I think she's really brought to life a version of Wanda that really delves into who she is past the bravado she carries. So definitely give her a follow. @boombambaby Honest to god if you can't find a reason to love this blog, shame on you. Kuzco is such an iconic little shit and Cas has truly brought this character to life on my dashboard. Even though I have yet to interact with them, still one of the most phenomenal renditions of a disney character I've ever seen in my life. @musingmemories I think L really might be one of the best writers I've ever met and I'm not just saying that because she placates my constant need for fluff and angst and all things that make people feel emotions. I say that because every single thread we have ever written together has been deep and thoughtful and well written. She's just the absolute bees knees both in character and out and if you haven't followed and/or written with her you are missing out. So that's it for my 1AM follow these people rant.

hey i’ve been reading about filk after seeing you mention it and it sounds really interesting!! do you have any recommendations for songs or artists i could start listening to in the genre? thanks!
Do I ever! I love recommending filk music to people. I don't know what direction your particular tastes lean, either music genre or interest-wise (there's filk about just about everything) so this might be a little more of a loose primer than anything else, but hit me up if you ever want more specific recs.
The album that got me into filk is a 1983 collection of space travel songs called Minus Ten and Counting, which you can listen to in its entirety here. A few of the songs on here are really famous filk classics (as are many of the artists!) and also all absolute jams, especially if you, like me, have a lot of feelings about human space exploration.
A lot of other the recommendations I have (of the top of my head, at least) are more modern artists that I've heard at cons (pretty much all of whom I can confirm are also lovely people, as well). For a quick sampling though:
Cheshire Moon are a filk duo who write a lot of fantasy/witchy/mythological songs -- I love their sound, especially the violin on many of their tracks. Favorite of mine include Banshee and Build Your Wings
The Faithful Sidekicks are another duo, with more of a rock sound and a lot of very pop-culture-based songs (although they write about other things, too!). I really like their songs Fatty Bolger, Sancho Panza, and Spoons
Ben Newman does some extremely good filks, all very lyrically clever and all over the map in terms of subject matter. I have to include his stuff just because his songs Not All Who Wander Are Lost (In Space) (lyrics here, mp3 here) and Galadriel to Sam (again, lyrics here, mp3 here) are among my very favorite filk songs. He also gets bonus points for being the only person I've ever seen rap the plot of the Silmarillion, which really feels like the the kind of thing filk is all about.
Beth Kinderman & the Player Characters are some friends of mine who also make fantastic folk-rock style music -- their album The Hero's Journey is a great bit of trope deconstruction paired with really incredible instrumentals. On the sillier end, I love their song The Dread Gazebo very very much.
And for the lightning round: The Traveller by Julia Ecklar, Starsoul by Urban Tapestry, Somebody Will by Sassafrass, Cheshire Kitten by S.J. Tucker, Kitchen Heroes by Talis Kimberley, and Vixy & Tony's version of Dawson's Christian (a much older filk, I just love their version best)
Also, if it's not too gauche, can I link my own stuff, haha? @scribefindegil and I have a filk duo of our own called Astrisoni; we've only got a few of our songs up and recorded on Bandcamp, but we also both have filk tags on our tumblrs (mine is just "filk tag") where we've shared lyrics/recordings of some of our other songs, too. If you asked me for some favorites -- Pure of Heart, and Opportunity Lullaby off of our debut EP, and Time Waits for No Man and The Fastest Ship in the Galaxy off my blog (both rough recordings, but they're still some of my favorite songs I've written)
Hopefully that will give you a jumping-off point for some of your own exploring! Filk is a vast, fun, weird body of music that mostly lives in fan corners of the internet, old fanzines, and at conventions, which can make it tricky to unearth at times, but also really unique and charming & gives it a lovely sense of community alongside the great music. If you want to dig into it more yourself, I recommend both @filkyeahfilk (a blog run by some of my friends -- technically I'm a mod too, but I haven't actually posted there, whoops) and the podcast FilkCast (sort of like a filk radio program showcasing music from all over the community, run by Eric Coleman of the aforementioned Cheshire Moon).

✨2022 TBR✨

THEME: “YOU GOT BOOKS AT HOME”
1. James Baldwin, “Giovanni’s Room”
2. Octavia E. Butler, “Wild Seed”
3. Saeed Jones, “How We Fight For Our Lives”
4. Franz Fanon, “The Wretched of the Earth
5. George L. Jackson, “Blood in My Eye”
6. Eugene Puryear, “Shacked and Chained: Mass Incarceration in Capitalist America”
7. Ntozake Shange, “Sassafrass, Cypress, and Indigo”
8. Zora Neale Hurston, “Hitting A Straight Lick With A Crooked Stick”
9. Mahogany L. Browne, “Chlorine Sky”
10. Akwaeke Emezi, “Pet”
11. Audre Lorde, “Zami: A New Spelling of My Name”
12. George L. Jackson, “Soledad Brother”
13. Carole Boyce Davies, “Claudia Jones: Beyond Containment”
I’ll be completely honest. I stopped reading after high school. In college, I’d read just enough to get a C on an English paper. As an auditory learner, I’d easily get a B in a lecture class just from showing up and taking notes. No review needed.
After graduating in 2017 and meeting my dear friend, Dartricia, I was inspired to read more books. I had spent many years in my childhood getting lost in books and missed that adventure. So in 2018, I read 4 books. 2019, 6. 2020, I topped off at 10. 2021, 10 again. This year, I’m hoping to get 13 books read! This is the biggest push, but I’m feeling up for it!
In 2022, I’m hoping to expand my PE (political education). I’ve been playing with communist ideals and feeling intuitively aligned. I want to root these feelings and assertions in consideration of other great radical scholars, academic or working class. As you can see, I’m specifically focused on the experience of people further radicalized by conditions put upon them by the state. From Claudia Jones being removed from the US due to her political views to George Jackson being radicalized due to conditions in prison, I’m interested in what happens when comfort has been severely compromised and radicalization is the only option. I’m making it a point to write thought reflections in a Word document. I’ll also share them on this blog.
Though I’m excited about PE, I can’t deny my need for fantastic storytelling. In between the conscious raising text, I’ll be diving into a mix of fiction and nonfiction that calls on my identities. Black. Woman. Queer. Brilliant. Lover. Neurodivergent. I feel I can mix and match as I see fits. “Chlorine Sky” is a YA novel made up of poems and prose. Ms. Hurston’s book of short stories can be spread out over the year. Saeed Jones’ “How We Fight For Our Lives” will feed my love of memoir. It’s just a good little mix for this indecisive woman.
I’m in a place I feel comfortable sharing my thoughts and assertions with people outside my immediate space and I’m so thankful.

Two Weeks in Denver
The Verdict:
We spent 13 nights in Denver (well actually, just south of Denver in Greenwood Village). With the beautiful outdoors, friendly people, and the best/chillest drivers of anywhere we've driven in the U.S., it was our favorite stop so far! It seems like a wonderful place to live. Denver is large and seems to have lots of stuff to do in the city and surrounding areas, so this post covers just a fraction of the options.
Things to Do:
Hiking (Ranked in order of our most to least recommended)
Rocky Mountain National Park (~2 hrs drive): Check out our RMNP blog post!
Boulder (45 min drive): We didn't have a chance to hike in Boulder, but we hear it's awesome. We had hoped to stop by Chautauqua Park to check out the trails (we read that Enchanted Mesa Trail was a good 4-miler) or El Dorado Canyon State Park. We did enjoy walking along Pearl Street, where there are plenty of tasty treats (we enjoyed smoothie bowls) and appreciated the free parking in the city's covered parking garages (we parked at 1500 Pearl, which was a perfect location). Logistics: Waze told us there was a toll on the Interstate to Boulder, but Google Maps thought it was a toll-free drive. The answer? There is an optional toll lane on the highway, but you can make the trip in the toll-free lanes.
Red Rocks (30-40 min drive): This is a naturally occurring amphitheatre that is best known for evening concerts against an incredibly scenic vista. While we weren't looking for a crowded concert during the pandemic, we visited in the morning and were blown away by how beautiful the amphitheatre was (and how many stairs there were to get to the top!). We also walked the beautiful 1.4 mile Red Rocks Trading Post Trail loop, which also had a moderate amount of uphill/downhill. It was VERY hot and sunny when we got there around 10:30 a.m.; though the weather app said it was below 80 degrees, the sun was really beating down. Next time, we'd go earlier in the day (later can be tricker due to concerts in the evenings) for better weather and hopefully smaller crowds. Logistics: We just entered Red Rocks into Google Maps and it took us to a parking lot near the amphitheatre. The trail was just a couple minutes' walk from the parking area, near the Trading Post building. Parking was free and not too hard to find.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vail/Breckenridge area (~90 mins drive): We didn't have a chance to visit, but it sounds like there's very nice hiking around here in the summer.
Garden of the Gods and Pike's Peak in Colorado Springs (~1 hr drive): When we got a nail in our tire and had to get the tire replaced, the nice guy at Firestone highly recommended we visit these areas for beautiful scenery. While we didn't make it, we read that Garden of the Gods can get very crowded, especially with Instagram-focused tourists more so than a hiking acrowd. We also read that it's not quite as nice as the Utah National Parks or Sedona. Pike's Peak also sounds touristy; there is a coveted tram that takes you to the top, at 14K feet of elevation -- after moderate altitude sickness at RMNP, we decided to sit this one out.
Denver Neighborhoods & Sights (Ranked in order of our most to least-recommended)
Denver Botanic Gardens (free with American Horticultural Society membership): This is one of the most beautiful botanic gardens we've ever seen, anywhere. It was also excruciatingly crowded on a Saturday morning and a very un-fun experience to find parking. Despite how stunning the gardens are, we preferred the much less crowded walk through Cheesman Park and the cute surrounding neighborhood. Logistics:  If the Botanic Gardens parking garage and parking lot are full, park for free at nearby Congress Park, Cheesman Park, or on a random side street a 5+ min walk from the gardens. Be observant of street signs to make sure you haven’t parked in a residential area that requires a parking permit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
RiNo (River North Arts District): About a 10 minute drive from downtown, RiNo is a hip area full of breweries, street art, and run-down looking houses. On a Saturday around 2pm, street parking was sparse (but free) and the breweries seemed packed with people. We read that the street murals are at their best on 26th-31st streets between Larimer & Walnut, and we weren't blown away in comparison to Plaza Walls in Oklahoma City or The Mission in San Francisco. Due to the extreme heat we didn't stick around, but we were interested in checking out Finns Manor (cocktails + food trucks), Denver Central Market (High Point Creamery apparently offers an ice cream flight?!), and a few breweries. Maybe next time! Logistics: Street parking is free.
Tumblr media
Washington Park: This is very nice park for a stroll. When we went on a Saturday evening around sunset, it wasn’t very crowded. The surrounding neighborhood looks very nice, and there seem to be good places to eat nearby (our friend suggested Sushi Den, though we didn’t have a chance to try it out). We saw someone paddleboarding on the water, which looked picturesque! Logistics: There are parking lots and ample street parking around the park.
Tumblr media
Sloan’s Lake (near Highland neighborhood): The park has a beautiful lake with a sizeable trail going around it. It reminded us of Lake Merritt in Oakland. When we went on a Sunday evening, it was somewhat busy with people running, walking, biking, and on scooters/skateboards/roller blades, and there was lots of goose poo everywhere. The surrounding area wasn’t quite as nice as that around Cheesman Park or Washington Park, but we still liked the lake. Note there were no water activities allowed -- signs indicated the water sometimes gets too unclean to enter. Edgwater Market is a few minutes away (we recommend driving as the walk isn’t very nice) and has a cute outdoor patio and lots of different types of ethnic food to try out (we especially liked the veggie pesto crepe at the crepe stand). Logistics: There are parking lots at the lake and the market.
Tumblr media
LoDo (Lower Downtown): The downtown area is meh, you can skip it if you're short on time. If you go, you can walk through Larimer Square, a small, cute block of shops and eateries with outdoor seating that is roped off from cars; check out Union Station, where the Amtrak goes and there are a bunch of places to eat/get coffee (including the overrated Snooze AM eatery - reserve your spot in line 1-2 hrs in advance if going and be sure to get the sweet potato pancake); walk the 16th Street Mall, a very touristy street of more shops and eateries (not as cute as Larimer Square, but a pro is there is a free bus that takes you up and down this long street); and walk by Coors Field if you're a baseball fan. Logistics: Parking lots are very expensive, but we didn't find it too difficult to find 2-hour street parking ($1/hour, you can pay by card at the meter or with the PayByPhone app; free on Sundays and holidays).
Tumblr media
Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge (free, 20-30 mins from city center): This is a beautiful area in northeast Denver that you can drive through, listen to their excellent guided podcast, and spot some neat wildlife. The area is known for bison, deer, prairie dogs, and birds; we saw some of these animals. This was a great option to stay in our air-conditioned car on a very hot day, rather than being out for a hike. Logistics: There is a Visitor Center that you can stop by if you’d like (we didn’t), otherwise just download the Rocky Mountain Arsenal podcast on your phone and start the drive!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What to Eat (Vegetarian Edition)
We did not take advantage of Denver’s food options, so what we are sharing here are mostly recommendations from our friends / places we would love to try if we had more time here.
Safta (Mediterranean) - Upscale; close to downtown. Appears to have outdoor seating and advance reservations are recommended
Uchi (Japanese) - Upscale; close to downtown. Has a separate vegetarian menu including a multi-course tasting. Reservations can be hard to come by if you don’t book well in advance. They also accept walk-ins, and they do have outdoor seating if you’re COVID-conscious (or just like eating outside!)
Brunch places with hype: Snooze AM Eatery (multiple locations, get on the Yelp waitlist at least an hour in advance, known for excellent pancakes), Sassafrass (we didn’t try it), and Root Down (we also didn’t try it)
Markets: Denver Central Market (in RiNo), Edgewater Public Market (by Sloan Lake / Highlands neighborhood; we loved the crepes and thought the Ethiopian food was mediocre), Stanley Marketplace (Aurora)
Other places that were recommended to us were Ash Kara (Mediterranean), El Five (Mediterranean, good views), Sushi Den (Japanese), and Vital Root (which is apparently by a lot of good vegetarian-friendly restaurants + breweries near Berkeley/Tennyson Street), Sputnik
Dessert: I very much wanted to try High Point Creamery (multiple locations) as it seems to have many vegan options and an ice cream flight! Little Man Ice Cream also came recommended
Where to Stay
We're definitely not experts on this, but here are a few thoughts based on our trip!
Near Cheesman Park and Washington Park seem like a lovely areas to stay -- the parks are really nice and the surrounding neighborhoods seem pretty safe and upscale. We didn't come across any available airbnbs in this neighborhoods.
Greenwood Village (~20 mins drive south of Denver, close to Centennial, CO). We stayed in the Marriott Residence Inn Tech Center (the 2 bed/2 ba is good for two people working from home during the week) and loved the area. Within a 5 minute drive there are cute parks for a morning jog, plenty of fast casual eateries (we were partial to the Torchy's and Schlotzsky's nearby), and even the excellent Peak View Brewing Company (okay so it’s a brewery in a suburban strip mall, but the outdoor patio is great and the jalapeno pretzel and the peanut butter porter were a hit!). Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Safeway are within a ~10 minute drive.

Dear Cress, (and dear the person behind this blog) how is it to take such long holidays, at the point that I'm turning 18 and I was an awkward 13/14 y old when I was in love with you and your blog? Tell me, time flies so much. (Out of character: Do you still like Cress?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s been 623 posts, 5 years, and the transition from Gen V to Gen VII has been a long one. I can hardly believe I looked like that so long ago. And then there’s the whole idea of the hiatus that seems to have never ended.
Tumblr media
** We all move on, and I went from general Pokemon to Subway Masters to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure to Osomatsu-san while I went from the beginning of high school to now, the end of college. It’s not that I dislike Cress, and the DePoCo will be my sonions always, but I jump fandoms every couple of years or so and I obsess madly over it. It’s also been great with having a Cress askblog, and I met one of my best friends in it, but I grow up and move on as I do.
But hey, it’s been a real great vacation!

Tags Revamp
After receiving some feedback and specific requests over the last several months regarding story tags, I am deleting my taglist  as of July 1st and starting from scratch with a new tag system.  Any fics posted before then will continue to use the old tagging system.
To be added:
Check out the lists (below the cut)
Comment / send an Ask with which ones you want to be on
To be removed:
Let me know you’re not interested
Do nothing.  Anyone I don’t hear from will be removed, no hard feelings :)
Because tags are still not reliable, anyone currently on a tag list will get tagged 2 more times if not heard from.
Please read category descriptions carefully.  I am not responsible for unwanted tags if you don’t look at what you’re signing up for.
You must be 18+ to be tagged.
Alternates to being tagged: follow @rabbit-writes (my fic only blog) and turn on notifications.
Lists are below the cut.  If something’s not clear, please feel free to ask!
All options for tags are in bold.

What are you currently reading? I'm finally reading some feminsist texts and lesbian books after putting it off for months. Do you have any recs for any kind of book? Also have you read anything by Mary Daly? I want to read more radfem stuff but I take breaks because the reality is sometimes too jarring and I'm weak lmao
bro, guess who’s currently on a break from reading feminist lit? me! lmao it can definitely get heavy.
i’ve been reading more poetry, i’ve been going through some “internet poets” like nayyirah waheed, rupi kaur, yrsa daley-ward, warsan shire (LOVE her). Also poetry by Audre Lorde and Adrienne Rich, I did a whole lesbian poetry thing in April so you can search that tag for more if you’d like.
tonight from the library i checked out the novel Sassafrass, Cypress, and Indigo by Ntozake Shange. Also a collection of her poems which includes Spanish translations called Wild Beauty. There also a few books that I own which I really need to read. That line up includes: Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jessmyn Ward, The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison, and Zami by Audre Lorde. I have this thing with books that I own where I just think, oh I can read that whenever and just continue to check out library books. So, after these two I’m barring myself from the library until I read some books I own.
Also, can I just tell you a quick story about how I went for a walk down to the sunset and then to the library and I had checked the library catalog for the book Annihilation and it was there, BUT by the time I walked there it was checked out! So, I”m gonna have to check another library. anyway,
I also returned a collection of essays tonight that were about feminist perspectives on women’s spirituality. I skimmed through a few and they were interesting, but a little too academic for what I’m in the mood for rn.
I’ve also read a few graphic novels, the best one so far was Calling Dr Laura by Nicole Georges. It’s a little Portlandia-esque but she’s a lesbian and the story is really cool. I’m also going to read Persepolis bc I found it in a giveaway pile.
whew, ok so, Mary Daly. I have not yet tackled Gyn/Ecology bc I know I’m gonna need some time to sit with that one so I plan on buying a physical copy soon. BUT I have listened to some recordings of her talking about her book and you can find links to them in my mary daly tag. I kinda read Beyond God the Father, but tbh I skimmed some chapters. It wasn’t bad but I could tell some things she was saying in it weren’t beliefs she had later on (which wikipedia confirmed) so it wasn’t bad I just got a little bored at some parts.
I’ve read some things by Dworkin, of course, and listened to a lot of her recordings and video interviews she did which is all in my andrea dworkin tag (along with several pdfs). If you haven’t read it yet, The Transsexual Empire by Janice Raymond is really interesting and imo quite sympathetic despite what liberals think. There’s also a good interview with her in my janice raymond tag (along with a pdf). Also, I feel like I’ve said this a million times, but Changing Our Minds was so good! It’s by Celia Kitzinger and Rachel Perkins and yes there’s a pdf on my blog if you search either of their names. Sister Outsider is a collection of essays by Audre Lorde that are pretty easy to read. Gloria Anzaldua also has some very interesting writing and poetry. There’s so much feminist lit to read, but yes it definitely gets heavy and you just gotta read some poetry to palate cleanse lol.
I really let this get out of hand, but hopefully it was helpful <3
ok wait PS lol, if you like sci fi, you should read Octavia Butler!

congratulations alyssa! we loved reading your application for ASTRAEA. your interpretation of the goddess in both her divine form and cursed one gave a lesser known figure a more comprehensive personality. please join us with your first faceclaim choice: MADDIE HASSON.
☆゚*・゚  OOC INFO.
Hey there! My name is Alyssa, I’m 23, almost 24 (which feels very old). My pronouns are she/her, and I live in sunny Florida, which puts me in EST! I’m a huge dork and honestly a sassafrass, so I promise I’m a whole lot of fun. I’m interested in like 50 different characters (please read: a muse and Cassandra) so that’s fun! But we’ll start with a lil bb to get warmed up and see where we end up
!☆゚*・゚  DEITY —  GENDER. AGE RANGE.
ASTRAEA // FEMALE // 22-24
☆゚*・゚ MORTAL NAME. JOB/OCCUPATION. BOROUGH/NEIGHBORHOOD.
ORELIA STERLING  // LEGAL INTERN // QUEENS
☆゚*・ HOW WOULD YOU PLAY THEM?
In mythology, Astraea is a virgin goddess of justice, innocence, purity, and precision. She is the daughter of Astraeus (god of the Dusk and Winds) and Eos (goddess of the Dawn). She is associated with the Golden Age, and was said to have been the last immortal to live among the humans, before leaving Earth during the Iron Age. She is the ambassador of the Golden Age, and legend claims that one day she will return to Earth, bringing the Golden Age back with her.
In her normal, deity state, I see Astraea as a goddess incredibly focused and driven by what’s right, fair, and just. She looks to stand up for those who need a champion, and to improve the way things work. The Europeans associated her with renewal of culture during the Renaissance, which is something I think speaks volumes to who she is as a character.
On Earth, Orelia is similar to her goddess counterpart, though she doesn’t have has grand of a reach as Astraea. She’s seeking to change the world for the better, and fight for those who have been forgotten or cast aside. A recent undergrad graduate, she took an internship at a law firm while she saves for law school - she’s set on being a lawyer and enacting the change that she thinks the world so desperately needs, and she’s starting in New York City.
To the naked eye, Orelia presents as a young millennial fresh out of school - an innocent girl who’s still looking for her place in the world. The second her mouth opens, it’s clear that those thoughts couldn’t be further from the truth. She’s an activist at her core, consistently fighting for the justice she so desperately craves to see in the world. She doesn’t make mistakes because she doesn’t allow herself to - every move is calculated, and every step brings her closer to the future she envisions.
answer these questions:
1. would you like your character to be entering the roleplay at this stage in the plot, with or without their memories?
For right now, I’m thinking with her memories might be interesting, since her return to Earth was supposed to bring about the second Golden Age, and what’s going on in the mortal world is clearly not that. I’d be willing to discuss/think about this though!
2. are they more likely to stand with the pantheon or against it?  ( if you are choosing a god they may endeavour to dismantle it for whatever reason )
She is definitely more likely to stand against it. It is not just or fair to declare 12 gods and goddesses to be the most important in her eyes, and I think she sees the deeply rooted flaws within all of the Olympians.
3. what is their stand on mortals?
While they seem to understand some of the concepts she holds so dear (she loves attending their protests and rallies), they have a lot to learn.

As well as responding to Ella’s starter, as posted on the starter blog.
An intern’s work was never done, or so they told her at the end of the interview that had landed her the job. First on the ever growing list that stayed permanently affixed to her desk today? Coffee run. Though she longed to be spending her time in the meetings, listening to the changes that were being proposed, Orelia knew her time was coming. A cappuccino with four shots and nonfat milk today, a complete upheaval to the system tomorrow.
Her normal path through Central Park was much flashier today than normal, and a quick glance of the figure in red explained it all. Ella Vandertrap was as close to royalty as New York City got, and with her reach, a simple conversation could get Orelia fast tracked to an interview at any law school she chose.
Quickening her pace - don’t spill the macchiato - Orelia caught up with the crowd, positioning herself in Ella’s view, before shaking her head at the question. “Not surprised, but glad nonetheless. I was wondering if I could take a second of your time and walk.” Don’t bring up the reason just yet, she thought, wouldn’t want to spook her.

First Full Day
Some thoughts, because I can’t get my thoughts together enough for a real post:
-Blog names! Youngest (10 months) is Momo, older (2) is Sassafrass.
-Their congestion/horrific cough is getting better by the hour. Still not great but improvement!
-They have barely eaten. Finally figured out Momo will take one of those hospital two ounce bottles, after trying other kinds with no success. She has horrible latching. She also had some applesauce, hooray! Sassafrass has had some fruit snacks and some vanilla wafers and milk, but doesn’t seem interested in food much. I’m sure feeling sick doesn’t help at all. My biggest concern is keeping liquids in them.
-Haven’t heard from the new worker, but they have up to 48 hours to make contact. Was kind of hoping to already have stuff underway, but alas.
-My biggest concern is that they let us use our pediatrician. Both girls have major medical deficits that will need to be remedied and I trust our pediatrician completely. I do not trust where the girls last went, which is a rotating practice where you never see the same person and our previous experiences have been lacking. The girls aren’t actually established there, so it shouldn’t be an issue, but we will see.
Okay, time to go pick up the boys from their parent’s day out! Adrenaline still pumping strong, thank God.
