It's weird how it took so long to get more female smurfs. Smurfette's introduction is the worst of them, with the whole "being a real smurf" thing, thinking her black hair is ugly, then everyone trying to get with her when her hair turned blonde & she changed clothes, but all the others had an interesting first appearance. I like how Sassette kept her original hair, it's tied up but presumably still pretty frizzy. She's a bit of a wild child who doesn't just do traditionally feminine things, I think she's pretty adorable, and it's nice how the smurflings wanted someone Smurfette could spend more time with. I only saw The Smurfs 2 once, years ago, but Vexy was the first time I saw another female smurf and thought she was cool. They didn't do much with her beyond that, so that sucks. I didn't see the cgi smurfs film but I was curious about the concept, and I'm actually glad they stuck with it this time for their new show, plus appearances in the comics. I haven't seen too much Smurfs media in general but I've enjoyed the 80s tv show from the little I've seen, and I think the new show is alright.

Family Doesn't Need To Be Perfect

Since it's been a while since I've drawn something Smurfy, here's a piece I did of Smurfette, Sassette, Vexy, and Hackus together as a family.

I *might* be getting back into Smurfs now? I dunno, I'm just gonna follow the flow of the dopamine rn.

Anyways, my next entry in the new way I'm drawing Smurfs, it's Huggable! (ft. Sassette)

Huggable was intended as a self-insert, but after developing him more, I've decided it's best if he's just known as a standard OC. He's still a bit of a self-insert, since I am pulling a lot from my own personality, likes, and dislikes to form a lot of his, but he won't be a one-for-one of me.

New lore I've been creating for the two of them under the cut:

Huggable Smurf is a faux Smurf that was created by the Smurflings for the sole purpose of being understanding enough to take them seriously, along with being old enough that the older Smurfs have to listen to him. He was made with a soft tummy for naps, strong arms for good hugs, fast legs for playing, a big heart to care for everyone and everything, and a brain smart enough to advocate for those that need it.

In my little version of the Smurfs, in order to make a faux Smurf, you need not only blue clay but also the feather of a bird. It can be literally any bird, magical or nonmagical, since the magic comes from the clay and the spell used to bring it to life. Smurfette was made with a dove feather, both Hackus and Vexy were made with pigeon feathers, and Sassette was made with an eurasian jay feather. The only thing the feather changes is the general aesthetic of the Smurf and the personality. Which, honestly, can be quite important.

When the Smurflings made Sassette, they didn't realize how important the type of feather was, so they just picked one that looked the coolest and the most special. This caused issues for Sassette and Smurfette because it caused their personalities to differ just enough for them to clash. What was meant to be the perfect little sister for Smurfette so she wouldn't be lonely ended up being not-so-perfect for her, but Sassette was just perfect for the Smurflings, so they didn't pay much mind to the clashing.

Then Vexy and Hackus entered the picture, and since pigeons and doves are practically the same bird (white doves and feral pigeons both being breeds of rock doves), they got along with Smurfette really well. Which left Sassette feeling very, very alone. So, the Smurflings started brainstorming. They may not know why, but they realized feather was very important to the creation of a faux Smurf, so they decided to make a new Smurf, one with a feather from the same bird that Sassette got her feather from.

They found and gathered as much blue clay as possible, got another feather from a eurasian jay, and did the spell, and voila! Huggable was created. He ended up being smaller than intended, but that didn't matter. He was much, much older than a Smurfling, *and* he got along well with Sassette. She finally had a big sibling that fit her particular brand of being. And all the Smurflings had someone that the older Smurfs would listen to. No shade to Papa, Clumsy, or Grouchy, but Papa just kinda brushes off the Smurflings, and the other Smurfs don't really take Clumsy and Grouchy seriously enough to listen to them when they try to advocate for the Smurflings.

As for why Huggable is a boy? Well, Sassette already has two big sisters. She wanted another big brother to go along with Hackus :)

The Smurfs: Steven with the little Smurfs

Steven manages to talk a lot with the little Smurfs, because they are the only Smurfs who are children. But he can also talk to the other adult Smurfs, but Steven talks a lot with the children, with the little Smurfs and the young Charpins children.

In the classic Smurfs show does Sassette still thinking of Gargamel as a dad and calling him "pappy Gargamel" make anyone else feel kinda sad, she's a smurfling but she's not dumb she's actually pretty bright so she knows how Gargamel feels about all her friends and family but in her eyes that'll always be her father that has no use for her☹️

So I made @c0de-0f-the-clans watch The Smurfs cause it was my favorite show as I child, and things kind of got out of hand fhfhd

Aside from making them more mousey, we've also just come up with silly lore and headcanons that I'm sure no one who follows me is actually interested in hearing XD
