You Will Never Find a More Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy (Part 4)
“The 25 Greatest Comic Book Villains of All-Time” continues with #15-#11. 15. Sinestro (Green Lantern) Once considered one of the greatest members of the Green Lantern Corps, and Hal Jordan’s mentor, when it was discovered that he was using his power as a means to rule over his home planet, he was banished to the Antimatter Universe. Green Lantern Villain Movie Ideas, Part XIV: The Sinestro Corps
The Sinestro Corps AKA the Yellow Lantern Corps is the army founded by Sinestro following his banishment from the Green Lantern Corps to the antimatter planet of Qward. There, he learned to harness the power of fear, represented by the color yellow, under the unknowing tutelage of Parallax. The Corps would see many high profile members such as Mongul, Abin Sur's son Amon Sur, Superboy-Prime, Cyborg Superman, and even Anti-Monitor, but I think most versions will be made up of Sinestro and smaller fish like Karu-Sil, Lyssa Drake, and so on.
Origin Movie: I guess it wouldn't be too strange to start a series with the new Lantern entering the Corps at the height of a war between the two, especially if it was someone like John Stewart or Kyle Rayner.
Sequel Movie: A natural fit if the first movie features Sinestro's defection and all of that.
Finale Movie: Now this seems like a good one for the higher profile members to show up in, especially if it ends up with Parallax or Anti-Monitor revealing their true natures or something.
Supporting Villain: Um, I'm going to interpret this as the full corps alongside other villains, which could work in a full on corps war story arc, something like Blackest Night or something.
Here are my rankings:
Sequel Movie: The most natural fit here.
Finale Movie: I would love to see all the big players up in here.
Supporting Villain: A corps war would be really cool.
Origin Movie: Still cool, but tosses you into the middle of the action.
What do you think? Who should I cover next?

Hal had always sort of assumed the Guardians did not have daemons.
It wasn’t unreasonable. After all, the Guardians appeared to exist alone, with no alien creatures hovering around them or following behind them or curled around their little limbs. Most importantly, if they did have daemons, they probably wouldn’t demand all Lanterns undergo the separation ritual. Probably.
Hal was a bit bitter over his separation from Elsie. He could still sense her as well as ever, could still communicate with her verbally and nonverbally, and he was aware that this would be a good thing for them in the long run. He could protect his sector a lot more effectively if he and Elsie weren’t bound to one another. But the separation ritual itself was the most agonizing thing Hal had ever experienced.
Elisheba, better known as Elsie, had settled into the form of a wandering albatross shortly after high school. It wasn’t really a surprise. She’d always preferred bird forms, everything from geese to pigeons to hawks to songbirds. They’d always regretted that their bond meant she was incapable of flying more than a few dozen feet over Hal’s head. She could never soar the way she really wanted to.
Not until Abin Sur. Not until the ring.
To give Hal and Elsie the ability to separate from each other, the Guardians had opened a portal into something they called the “antimatter universe” which new Lanterns were meant to venture into… without their daemons. Upon having this explained to him for the first time by Kilowog, Hal hadn’t believed him. Making up dumb stories to mess with rookies was a tradition Hal had already been exposed to in the air force.
Except it had only taken Hal a few days to realize that the Lanterns on Oa were not tethered to their daemons the way he was. Kilowog’s daemon—a tiny, fuzzy creature named Moggi—was constantly scurrying around running errands. Along similar lines, Salakk’s Niyavet, a floating cephalopod that appeared to be made from stained glass, could frequently be seen attending to tasks of her own, though she was never too busy to tell someone off for running in the corridors.
The antimatter universe was a dangerous place, but the separation ritual took place within a fortified temple constructed by the Guardians themselves. Hal was repeatedly assured he would be safe so long as he did not venture outside. His intention had been to climb out the first window he found, more out of contrariness than any true desire to go exploring, but he hadn’t been able to put his plan into action because the moment he stepped through the portal, his entire body was wracked by pain so agonizing he feared he was about to die.
With his last coherent thought, he’d turned on his heel to rush back to Elsie, only to find the portal gone. What had followed was likely the worst hour of his life as his body struggled to adjust to the absence of a daemon, something that ought to have been impossible. He might have blacked out a few times, but he wasn’t sure. His memories were spotty, and he did not feel the need to examine them too closely, terrible as they were.
That had been three months ago, shortly after his graduation from boot camp. Now he stood beside Sinestro and stared at nothing in particular as his partner delivered his ten thousandth report to the Guardians. On his other side sat Zariiya, both tails swishing, golden eyes alert. Her fur usually appeared black, but in direct sunlight it took on a violet sheen.
An alien cat the same approximate size and shape of a panther, Zariiya was the picture of quiet, dangerous dignity. But Hal knew better. During the twilight hours, she turned into an oversized house cat, frequently knocking over shelves and forcing Sinestro into wrestling matches.
Hal’s wandering eyes fell on a patch of empty space just beside one of the Guardians.
The movement of light.
A flash of crystal.
Something radiant, streaming and translucent.
Hal cried out as pain stabbed through his mind like a blade. He clapped his hand over his eyes to protect them from the burn, but it was too late. He fell to his knees, tears of pain streaming down his cheeks. Sinestro’s hands were on him in a moment.
“You’re safe, Jordan. Be calm,” Sinestro must have been on the ground with him for his voice to be so near. On his other side, Hal could feel Zariiya’s warm breath on his face. Hal’s hands fell away from his eyes, but all he could see was whiteness. Panic seized him in its icy cold hand. He was blind. His career as a Lantern was over. He’d never fly again—
“It will pass.” Whatever was happening, it didn’t appear to be new to Sinestro. “Breathe. Relax. You are upsetting Elisheba.”
“I saw—” gasped Hal when he could speak again.
“A Guardian’s daemon. I know,” said Sinestro, his voice oddly comforting. “I’ve seen it too.”
A while back i was thinking about a GL Daemon AU (and interestingly enough, I later saw a patronus ((or something similar??? can't recall now)) GL post that made almost all the same animal choices as me re: human lanterns) But!!! I think it's especially fun to think about alien daemons. Like you go up to someone and you're not sure who is the person and who is the daemon. Bc typically your daemon is from the same planet as you. Also Mogo's daemon is a little moon. She's a tiny little moon.

I personally see Hal as pan or queer! But YEAH
Like Hal has sexual tension with ANYONE you put by his side. It's just how it is. Barry, Ollie, Dinah, Clark, Kyle, Sinestro............. He's a character that goes so well with others... People want to punch him, but they also want to kiss him so bad they look stupid <3
DC is only fooling themselves by acting like Hal isn’t queer like bruh… do you… do you even read the very comics published under your label… bruh…
#blob talks#hal jordan#honorary mention to morrison and sharp for making Sinestro and Hal lovers in the antimatter universe

This is a vetted campaign, more info here. The Balousha family is trying to survive amidst famine and bombing, in hopes of reuniting in Egypt. A recent update from the campaign runners is under the cut:
From November 7:
"Thank you all for helping us reach our initial goal! When I first set up the fundraiser I randomly picked $50,000 hoping the war would end before we even raised half of it...Unfortunately the war is still ongoing and the funds are still desperately needed as less and less aid enters Gaza, increasing the prices of the little that is available. Another consideration is when I transfer the money to Mahmoud's brother in law's bank account, the bank takes a 30% cut of the money.... So please, continue to donate, you are quite literally the reason why the Balousha family hasn't starved to death yet."

Guy was raised in Baltimore by his parents, Roland and Peggy Gardner. His father, Roland, was an abusive alcoholic who beat Guy every day. Some of Guy's injuries were visible such as bruises, cuts and bumps but others were invisible and were emotionally inflicted. Guy worked hard in school to try to win his father's approval, but Roland instead lavished attention and compliments upon Guy's older brother, Mace. Guy's only escape at this time was General Glory comic books, going so far as to model his bowl haircut on Glory's sidekick, Ernie.[4]
During his mid-teens, Guy became a juvenile delinquent. He constantly defied authority. Later, he was straightened out by his older brother, Mace, now a police officer, and he eventually went to college, supporting himself, and earning bachelor's degrees in education and psychology from the University of Michigan, where he also played football until a career-ending injury. The injury deeply affected Guy.
After college, Guy worked as a social welfarecaseworker, dealing with prison inmates and their rehabilitation. He abandoned this line of work, however, fearing it brought out his aggressive nature. Moving on, he became a teacher for children with disabilities. This job brought out the loving and caring side of himself.[5]
In September 2011, The New 52 rebooted DC's continuity. In this new timeline, Guy is now an ex-police officer and middle child of a family with a long tradition of membership in the Baltimore Police Department going back to 1860. He is the second human to earn a Green Lantern ring, after coming to the rescue of his older brother Gerard who had become pinned down during a police shootout with a street gang.[6]
In this version Guy has a strained relationship with his father Ebenezer Gardner, a decorated cop forced into disability after taking a bullet in the line of duty, for issues related to the unexplained incident which kicked Guy off the police force.[6] This was retconned in DC Rebirth which returned to his original origin of Guy being abused by his alcoholic father as a kid, which was seen during Guys fight with the Sinestro Corps member Arkillo in the present,[7] and later his father being reintroduced under his original name Roland Gardner.[8]
Green Lantern CorpsEdit

Guy Gardner's first appearance in Green Lantern #59 (March, 1968).
The appointed Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814, an alien named Abin Sur from the planet Ungara, crash-landed on Earth after being mortally wounded. As Sur died, his power ringsought and found two potential successors: Guy Gardner and Hal Jordan. Jordan was nearer to the crash, so he was chosen over Gardner.[9] In the same story, the Guardian supercomputers predicted Guy would have perished early in his career if he had been chosen first. In the later Booster Gold series it was shown that a time traveling Booster convinced Gardner to visit his dying father, thus ensuring that Jordan would be the candidate in closest proximity. Gardner was relegated to backup status should anything happen to Jordan.[10]
When Jordan became aware of Gardner's status as his backup, he went out of his way to set up a chance meeting, and the two became friends. Though Gardner was originally naive to Jordan's secret identity, he eventually assisted Jordan during his adventures.[volume & issue needed] He is later partnered with Jordan after completing his training under Kilowog.[6]
During an earthquake, Gardner was hit by a bus while attempting to rescue one of his students. During his recovery, the Guardiansrecruited John Stewart to be Jordan's new "backup".[11]
Some time later, during a period where Gardner was performing his duties as a backup Green Lantern, Hal Jordan's power battery, the source of the ring's energy, exploded in Gardner's face due to damage done to it by the Crumbler and trapped him in the Phantom Zone.[12] Jordan and Kari Limbo, Gardner's girlfriend at the time, both believed him to be dead, and the two developed a romantic relationship that ultimately culminated in a marriage proposal.[13] Gardner was able to interrupt the wedding by contacting Limbo telepathically.[14] By then, however, Gardner's bus accident, the power battery explosion, his assimilation into the zone, and the subsequent torture at the hands of General Zod and other residents of the Phantom Zone had affected his mind. When Gardner was released from the Phantom Zone, he was diagnosed with brain damageand was comatose for a number of years.[15]
During the Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Guardians of the Universe split into two factions over how to confront the Crisis. A minority faction of six Guardians emulated their former brethren, the Controllers, by recruiting a Green Lantern to directly attack and destroy the forces of the antimatteruniverse. For reasons unknown, Gardner was revived by the renegade Guardians, given a power ring not tied to the Central Power Battery on Oa, sporting a uniform similar to that worn by the Fists of the Guardians, and given a mission. He was to recruit and command the deadliest and most powerful criminals in the universe, including the Shark, Hector Hammond (left behind after trying to attack Gardner), Sonar, Throttle, Blindside, and Goldface, to launch a strike against the home base of the Anti-Monitor.[16]
Gardner's brain damage manifested itself in the form of an arrogant, violent, unstable, and often childish new personality.[3] Gardner believed himself to be the last "true" Green Lantern, superior to all the others, particularly Jordan. Five of the renegade Guardians were slain by a wave of antimatter, and the sixth eventually reconciled with the rest of the Guardians. In the meantime, Gardner succeeded in his task of recruiting powerful villains. Both Hal Jordan and John Stewart prevented Gardner from completing his mission, which would have ultimately destroyed the universe.
Following the Crisis, the Guardians, along with the Zamarons, left the universe to create the next generation of Guardians. Gardner was placed under the care of the remaining Guardian-turned-mortal Appa Ali Apsa (who later went on to become the "Mad Guardian") on the planet Maltus in order to teach Gardner the ways of the Corps, a situation which Gardner resented. Gardner eventually escaped and returned to Earth, but was recaptured by Appa Ali Apsa (with the assistance of two Corps honor guards) intending to reclaim Gardner's power ring. At the request of Kari Limbo, Hal Jordan pleaded on Gardner's behalf for his freedom, which was granted with no return of gratitude from Gardner.
As a consequence of the Corps executing Sinestro, the majority of the Corps lost their power rings; Gardner was one of the few remaining active Green Lanterns. After the defeat and death of the "Mad Guardian", the Guardians returned and assigned Gardner to be the official Green Lantern of Sector 2814 while Jordan was assigned to recruit new Corps members.
Justice League InternationalEdit
Soon after obtaining his freedom from Maltus, Gardner became a founding member of the Justice League International after the original JLA disbanded during the 1986-87 storyline "Legends". In his time with the JLI, Gardner resented Batman's leadership of the group, going so far as to challenge the Dark Knight to a fist fight; Batman downed Guy with one punch after Guy took off his ring. The other members left him lying on the floor. When Guy woke up, he banged his head on a console and knocked himself out. When he comes to, his personality has changed to kind and gentle.[17] Until he hit his head again at a later point, Guy was kind, sweet, boyishly innocent, and a perfect gentleman to the female members of the group. Guy's run in JLI was full of constant personality shifts and endless arguing between team members. This led to a fight with Lobo,[18][19] the sucker-punching of Blue Beetle during a boxing match,[20] and finally him quitting the team after being "belittled" by Superman.[21]
Gardner was romantically involved with his fellow Leaguer Ice, even learning some rudimentary Norwegian, but he is often callous to her and slow to admit his feelings.[3] Their relationship ended with her death at the hands of the Overmaster

guy gardner appearances before 1985 are like
alternate universe where guy is green lantern instead of hal and he dies painfully of a yellow disease after ending a war on a planet of children
guy gets hit by a bus trying to save a child in his p.e. class during an earthquake
guy becomes green lantern for a day and appears to have died after being obliterated by the power battery
guy attacks hal jordan and superman in the phantom zone where he has been manipulated by general zod for months and forced to witness hal making moves on guy’s fiancée, kari limbo. guy gets kicked in the back by superman
after hal defeats general zod and his crew he tries to bring guy back to earth only for sinestro to steal him away to the antimatter universe. once there sinestro turns guy into a puppet to use against hal jordan and eventually traps guy in a shrinking bubble and almost crushes him between some rocks. this encounter leaves guy in a vegetative state until 1985

DC Villains: An opportunity for success

Now that Joker is the most profitable comic book movie in history, DC has an opportunity to differentiate itself from the MCU and other studios by focusing on villian origin stories. While the MCU is wonderful, their villains could be utilized better. Out of 23 films, only 6 of their main villains were really memorable to me (this is subjective of course). Standouts include Loki, Killmonger, Hela, Thanos, Ghost and Vulture. These characters were charismatic, intelligent, relatable, powerful and evil. They were worthy adversaries and made the protagonist look great in victory. However, out of those 6 characters, 3 are dead (I'm still holding out hope for Killmonger) and 2 (Ghost & Loki) are reforming.

Presenting compelling villains with well fleshed out back stories will only raise the stock of the DC heroes. For example, if DC were to include Joaquin's Joker in The Batman movie, people would be more invested in Robert's Batman because we are already invested in his antagonist.

DC seems to be heading in the direction of producing villain focused movies as Black Adam begins filming in July 2020, and if The Birds of Prey is successful, a Gotham City Sirens spinoff is expected to be the follow-up.

If DC were to truly commit to supervillain movies moving forward, here are three villains I feel can carry an amazing solo film:
Vandal Savage

Vandal began his days in 50,000 BC, as a caveman named Vandar Adg. He was bathed in the radiation of a mysterious meteorite, which gave him incredible intellect and immortality.
He claims to have ruled hundreds of civilizations under hundreds of names: Khafre, Cheops, Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan, Blackbeard, and Vlad the Impaler, to name a few. He also terrorized Victorian era London as Jack the Ripper. He has also worked as close friends and advisers to the likes of Erik the Red, William the Conqueror, Napoleon Bonaparte, Otto von Bismarck and Adolf Hitler. He also led the Spanish Armada in its attempted invasion of England (suggesting he may have been Alonso Pérez de Guzmán). He was the court physician in France and even used the royal family for syphilis experiments.
Basically there are a lot of intriguing stories you can tell with Vandal and if you build him up in a solo film(s), the hero who defeats him will look all the better for it.
Ra's Al Ghul

Like Vandal, Ra's has been around for centuries but where Vandal is just a sadistic savage, Ra's is a hero in his mind.
According to Birth of the Demon, Ra's al Ghul was born over 600 years to a tribe of Chinese nomads settling in the desert somewhere in North Africa. He developed an interest in the sciences at an early age and abandoned his tribe to live in the city where he pursued a life as a researcher.
Using Lazarus Pits to extend his life, Ra's spends the next several centuries journeying the world. He fights in the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars, becoming a formidable warrior. As the world entered the modern age and industrialisation began to cover much of the Earth, Ra's grew to despise humans, who he believed were destroying the world's natural beauty, setting him on a path of eco-terrorism.
Sinestro

Sinestro was born on the planet Korugar in space sector 1417. His dedication to preserving order originally manifested in his previous career, an anthropologist specializing in reconstructions of ruins of long-dead civilizations. One day while he was on one such site, a Green Lantern named Prohl Gosgotha crash-landed into the site, injured and apparently dying. He quickly gave his ring to Sinestro, just in time for Sinestro, who barely even understood what the ring could do, to defend himself from the Lantern's pursuer: a Weaponer of Qward; however, Sinestro had to destroy the ruins he had spent time restoring in order to crush the Qwardian. Afterwards, Gosgotha turned out to still be alive and asked for his ring back to keep him alive long enough to get help. Sinestro, knowing this would mean not being a Green Lantern himself, instead let him die and took over his post. The Guardians were unaware of his actions.
Sinestro began using the power of the Green Lantern to instill fear rather than combat it and the Guardians banished Sinestro to the antimatter universe, a counterpart to the "real" universe made up of "negative matter". Sinestro believed himself to have been wronged by his former masters and now hated them. Creating a yellow power ring for Sinestro to use, the Weaponers sent him back to the "positive matter" universe to seek his revenge. Sinestro quickly became the Green Lantern Corps' most powerful nemesis, partially due to a weakness in their power rings that prevented them from directly affecting the color yellow.
The more successful the villain, the more successful the picture. - Alfred Hitchcock

for the otp asks 1, 17 and 31 halsin
1. What are things they both find funny? unfortunately their sense of humor isn’t TOO similar but sinestro finds human television to be MARGINALLY entertaining and thus sometimes he and hal end up watching real housewives together. on the off occasions hal finds reason to drag sinestro up to the watchtower, neither of them can take batman serious at all.
17. What senses (sights, smells, feelings, etc). remind them of each other? there’s not much that can be smelled out in the depths of space, but it could be argued that the energies of their respective rings certainly lends itself to something. inexplicably, as much as sinestro likes to insult his planet and humans as a whole, his sensitive korugarian sense of smell unfortunately picks up a lot that he comes to associate with hal: the faint scent of jet fuel, the earthy smell of his flight suit, the sharp tang of his aftershave. hal has a little less to go on, with sinestro often almost smelling too alien to put into words, but he’s come to associate the smell of ozone that accompanies the opening and closing of antimatter universe portals with sinestro.
SIGHTS are a lot less serious. i like to exaggerate sinestro’s ears and also give him sharp teeth so hal inevitably becomes fascinated with pointy ears and fangs in any context. sinestro’s taken a mild liking to fighter jets if only because he admires their power.
feelings... for both, unwavering hope, probably. not quite blue-ring level but up there. they won’t admit it but they believe and trust in each A LOT. that and subsequent disappointment.
31. What do they love to do after sex? hal has chronic commitment issues and some part of sinestro never quite gets over the deaths of both abin and arin sur, so the most post-coital cuddling amounts to is them both laying there in somewhat tense silence as they each try to ignore that That Just Happened until one them falls asleep/is sufficiently distracted so that the other can slip away until the next time they fall into bed together despite their best efforts. nothing ever gets really sweet between them until MUCH farther down the line, and even then it really just amounts to... holding each other. they don’t often end up spending the whole night together. one or the other (usually sinestro) usually leaves.

GREEN LANTERN #198-200 (FINAL ISSUE) MARCH - MAY 1986 BY STEVE ENGLEHART, JOE STATON, BRUCE D PATTERSON, MARK FARMER, BOB SMITH AND ANTHONY TOLLIN

SYNOPSIS (FROM DC DATABASE)
Sinestro explains to John Stewart and Katma Tui that Hal Jordan and Guy Gardners mission to blow up the moon of Qward where the Anti-Monitor was born must be stopped at all costs. Using the displaced energy produced from contact between Green and Yellow energies, Stewart propels himself to Oa to confront the Guardians much faster than he would normally be able to.
Gardner and Jordan assemble the army of villains they've gathered on one of the moons of Pluto, preparing for their assault. The two discuss the grudge Gardner has against Jordan, and while Hal is actually glad to see Guy finally a Lantern, Guy calls him a jerk.
On Oa, Stewart arrives to find assembled remaining members of the Green Lantern Corps, including Tomar-Re, K'ryssma, Apros, Arisia Rrab, Ch'p and Xax. Although it is discovered that Sinestro had been lying to gain access to Oa, the danger he explained was very real, unbeknownst to him. The Central Power Battery, speaking through Tomar-Re explains that the destruction of the Anti-Monitor's birthplace will remove his tethers to the mortal world, and in effect make him much more powerful than he had ever been before. The Guardians launch a counter-strike composed of all active members of the Corps to stop Guy Gardner's team in the Antimatter Universe.

Gardner's team, which also consists of the Shark, Sonar, Goldface, Throttle and Blindside arrive in the Antimatter Universe and are attacked by the Weaponers of Qward. For disobeying orders, Gardner hits Jordan over the head and takes the ring he was temporarily given. Hal is able to survive by grabbing the life support systems of a nearby Weaponer.

When Gardner's villains and the rest of the Corps meet, they clash and there's a gigantic battle in the Antimatter Universe! During the fight, Xax is murdered and Tomar-Re is fatally injured by Goldface. As Gardner prepares to destroy the Anti-Monitors' birthplace, he is confronted by Stewart, the last man standing between him and the unintentional destruction of the universe. They engage in a battle of wills, and Stewart, the more experienced Lantern, wins with sheer power.

Elsewhere, as the Anti-Monitor dies, somehow all fighting are able to sense it, and the combat is ceased, while the fighters collect their dead and injured, simply glad that the Crisis is over. Tomar-Re dies, and his Ring is passed on to John Stewart, who is able to give the ring he's been using (originally the ring of Abin Sur back to Hal Jordan. Hal Jordan becomes an official Green Lantern once more.

Hal Jordan and several other Green Lanterns track down Goldface.

The entirety of the Green Lantern Corps is called back to Oa for a special announcement. Dozens of Lanterns return from their respective space sectors carrying various super-villains in tow.

On Zamaron, Guy Gardner engages in combat against Star Sapphire. The two enemies trade shots with one another, until they both find themselves the victim of Hector Hammond's mental manipulation. Guy and Sapphire both have reason to hate Hal Jordan, and they agree to work together with Hammond to bring Jordan down.
Hal Jordan meanwhile, finds himself on a desolate moon where he meets his close ally the Flash. The Flash has been missing since the Crisis and he even tells Hal that he fears he may actually be dead. The image of the Flash fades only to be replaced with that of another deceased comrade Tomar-Re. Hal doesn't understand what is going on. Tomar-Re fades away, and in his place is Carol Ferris. At first, Hal thinks that this is merely another illusion, but the illusion proves to be real as Carol switches into her Star Sapphire identity. Guy Gardner is present as well, and both follow Hector Hammond's instructions to attack Jordan. Jordan's willpower proves momentarily stronger than Hammond's, and the psychic feedback is enough to make Hammond's physical body (still located on Earth) fall over unconscious.
Meanwhile, John Stewart and Katma Tui are soaring through space, bringing the former Guardian Appa Ali Apsa back to Oa. The Weaponers of Qward arrive and attack their vessel. John goes outside to deal with the threat head-on, leaving Katma Tui inside to navigate the ship. Appa manages to use his former Guardian status to momentarily distract the Weaponers, thereby giving John and Katma the upper hand. The Qwardians know that the cause is lost and retreat.
Before long, everyone arrives on Oa. All of the Lanterns are gathered into the main citadel and Appa joins the ranks of his fellow Guardians. Also in attendance is a contingent of Zamarons. The Guardians open the assembly and declare that their race has become stagnant and that it is time for them to move and evolve. They are leaving Oa, and enabling the Green Lantern Corps the ability to police themselves. As the Zamarons are the female counterparts to the Guardians, they are expected to journey with them. Nadia Safir, leader of the Zamaron armies disagrees with the Guardians and challenges them to a trial by combat. Nadia faces the Guardian Herupa Hando Hu, but loses. In defeat, the Zamarons agree to accompany the Guardians, and they will evolve together in an effort to produce the next generation of immortals. As the Guardians prepare to leave, one of them notices that his "brother" is an imposter. Sinestro managed to escape from his Sciencell and impersonated one of the Guardians, Pazu Pinder Pol. He intended on leaving with the Guardians to serves as a "snake in their garden of Eden". The Guardians quickly subdue him and return Sinestro to his Sciencell. With that, they bid goodbye to the Green Lantern Corps, and the Guardians and Zamarons disappear hand in hand through a spatial rift – never to return.

REVIEW
But when I say final issue, it actually means, with this title, as the book then becomes Green Lantern Corps.
Maybe I am misunderstanding something. But the battle on the moon of Qward cannot happen at the same time that the Anti-Monitor is defeated... because he was defeated on the moon of Qward.
But I can let this error go, because Englehart managed to close a lot of loose ends in these issues and created a new status quo just in time for a new earth. And this will be a long story as well, as it will lead to a future event: Millenium.
Millenium will be the next big event after Crisis (and after Legends, but Legends happens just before the relaunch of many books, it doesn’t even include the Batman we will know as “post-crisis”, so it is Millenium that actually crosses over the new titles). DC must have had a good reason to trust Englehart with that event, so I am guessing Green Lantern Corps was selling well.
It is also interesting to see how Star Sapphire and Guy Gardner get back to the fold with a slap on the wrist. Guy has a lot of learning ahead, and it is going to be a hard road for him.
I give this story a score of 8
