this episode of the pitt really went back to its misogyny roots </3 why does it love so specifically to set up a man and woman duo where the man is rational and grounded and the woman is irrational and obnoxious. the brother and sister where the sister insisted on their father being intubated, the mother and father where the mother was resistant to their son being an organ donor, the mother and father where the mother freaked out about her son getting autism, and now the mother and father where the mother refused a spinal tap. bc women are the only ones ever demonized for poor choices about their children, never the fathers. also the bonus is them doing a 180 on mckay and robby where now mckay prioritising those girls welfare is meant to be seen as irrational and ignorant, while robby Knew Better (which doesnt even make sense story wise bc he literally apologized for not seeing her side of things a few episodes ago and he also initially thought david was the shooter. like it's soooo unlikeable of him to be saying 'i told you so' now). also arguably abbott and the hot surgery lady. women so rarely get to be in the right in this show.

also one weird thing that has been bothering me forever that i haven't seen anyone else mention is robby offhandedly and openly calling langdon the best resident like why exactly are we supposed to think langdon is a better doctor than collins? even setting the drug stuff aside

With our younger daughter I finished watching the first season of The Pitt, a very good medical drama that this retired physician highly recommends. The only other medical TV show I recommend is MASH. Both The Pitt and MASH are not only medically interesting and accurate but the humor is fantastic amid the urgent situations. Viewer discretion is advised as realistic body “stunt doubles” are used. These realistic body parts have been used in medical education for years and now they are used with very dramatic effects.

Oh. So...the FX team is gonna have a ball.

Ironically I once had to go to the ER on the 4th of July when I was 30ish (because my blood sugar would not stay up no matter what I did). I tried to push it off cause that's the worst day ever. Finally couldn't cause I passed out. My partner drove us and when we walked in the waiting room was empty.

The triage nurse just waves us over and says 'do not question. Do not comment. Just tell me what is wrong. Anyone who jinxes us is not going to like their stay here.'

There were about 10 patients total in the ER for the next 3 hours. At midnight however it was suddenly a zoo.

Which actually supports the night shift argument - or at least everyone on a night cycle - fireworks don't start til after 9pm usually.
