It has been a long time since I posted on this blog. The reason for that is complex, but the abridged explanation can be summed up as simple burnout. Whenever people come to me with their stories, most assuredly, I research the facts to authenticate accounts. But I, also, end up, unwittingly, being emotionally invested in the people and their situations. For me, in order to authentically tell theâŚ

I cannot believe they marketed the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off animated series as a true-to-the-graphic novels adaptation with Bryan Lee OâMalley and the original movie cast (thus luring in both the movie fans and the graphic novel purists), set the first episode up to appear exactly like thatâs what they were doing, and then at the last minute they went SIKE this is not the story you think it is. Spoilers for comics in October 2025!
You can see the solicitations in full at Adventures In Poor Taste.
It's not clear if any Rogues will be in DC K.O. event, but other villains are shown on the covers, so I've included one of the solicits here. The Flash issue -- without Si Spurrier -- ties into the event, but seems to be mostly about the Flash Family (specifically Wally and Bart).
All of the above covers are from Absolute Evil #1, which will feature Elenore Thawne and depicts the Rogues on one cover.
ABSOLUTE EVIL #1 Written by AL EWING Art and cover by GIUSEPPE CAMUNCOLI and STEFANO NESI Variant covers by FABRIZIO DE TOMMASO, GERALD PAREL, DUSTIN NGUYEN, and RILEY ROSSMO Blank sketch cover Foil variant cover by RILEY ROSSMO $4.99 US | 48 pages ON SALE 10/1/25 Without heroesâŚwithout protectionâŚwithout restraintâŚthere is only ABSOLUTE EVIL. The emergence of superheroes has caught the attention of the worldâŚand itâs certainly caught the attention of the people who run it. Raâs al Ghul, Veronica Cale, Elenore Thawne, Hector Hammond, and the mysterious âJokerâ have worked at cross-purposes until now, but this growing threat requires new ways of thinkingâŚand new partnerships. An insidious betrayal from within their ranks is imminent, and if they donât take action, theyâll lose control of a planet that was built to be their playground! Superstars Al Ewing and Giuseppe Camuncoli join forces to kickstart the next era of Absolute Universe storiesâŚwith several shocking new character reveals, and one big unmissable twist!
ABSOLUTE FLASH #8 Written by JEFF LEMIRE Art by TRAVIS MOORE Cover by NICK ROBLES Variant covers by HAINING, RILEY ROSSMO, and A.L. KAPLAN $4.99 US | 32 pages | Variant $5.99 US (card stock) ON SALE 10/15/25 The origins of Fort Fox and Barry Allenâs experiments are finally revealed, but what do they mean for the future of the Flash?!
Looks like we'll soon be getting some answers about the series' ongoing mysteries.
I don't see any Rogues on the covers for the DC K.O. book, but some other villains (including Grodd) are there. The Rogues might be involved too.
DC K.O. #1 Written by SCOTT SNYDER Art and acetate cover by JAVI FERNĂNDEZ Variant covers by JIM LEE, DANIEL WARREN JOHNSON, FRANK CHO, SCOTT KOBLISH, JAE LEE, and MIKE DEL MUNDO Face-off variant cover by BEN OLIVER 1:25 variant cover by NOOBOVICH Bracket variant cover by DAN MORA Darkseid variant cover by MARK SPEARS Foil variant cover by JAVI FERNĂNDEZ AEW Cameo variant cover by DAN MORA $5.99 US | 48 pages | Variant $5.99 US (card stock) ON SALE 10/8/25 The Heart of Apokolips has transformed Earth into a hellscape in preparation for the return of Darkseid! Quicksilver - Day 172
Race: Spirit Alignment: Dark-Chaos Evolves from: Poltergeist Evolves into: Raiju March 19th, 2025

Okay, today's DDS is gonna be a bit of a weird case. There's basically nothing to go off of with Quicksilver, and I don't mean this in my usual 'at least there's a Wikipedia page and a few sources' way- I mean this in a 'Did ATLUS just make this up?' way. Thankfully, though, I do have one thing to work off of- of course, @eirikrjs has a cribs episode on this ghost. However, I'm not content just copying off of his work, so I'm gonna try to track down where the fuck this even came from.
In SMT, Quicksilver is described as the following:
Female poltergeists that like to pull pranks. They break furniture and throw things around, as well as write the letter Q on windows and mirrors with soap or lipstick. They are easily bored, not staying in the same place for very long. In general, they are not dangerous spirits.
Where this seems to come from is a book called the 'Encyclopedia of Things That Never Were,' a book chronicling various stories and fantastical creatures from around the world. More specifically, she's mentioned on Page 228, wherein it talks about Quicksilver as a very specific female poltergeist that always marks her arrival by painting a very large Q wherever she goes. However, where did this come from? Like, genuinely. As such, I went to the sources page of the book which it thankfully does have, and began my search.
Given the mention of the English-speaking world in the passage of the book, my first thought was to look in some English books going over ghosts in history. First stop? Peter Haining's Ghosts: The Illustrated History. There is one story recanted here that may match, but beyond being a cursory retelling of a poltergeist in Britain, it doesn't really fit. I think I need to keep an eye out for mentions of the Q- the name Quicksilver might have been an invention of the author, but I don't doubt that the Q is a connecting thread here. The next book that caught my mind was Supernatural England, but that one was a bit of a no-go- the closest place to pick it up was in the fucking Library of Congress. I also couldn't find any online copies of it, which is incredibly uncommon but does happen sometimes- so, I'm gonna ask, if anyone can come across a copy of this book, can you tell me if it mentions Quicksilver?
Anyway, back to the drawing board. Maybe the book The Poltergeist Experience by one Scott Rogo could have it?
You are fucking kidding me. The next place I checked was Dictionary of the Supernatural by Peter Underwood, a guy whose name just sounds like he was built to make a 400 page book about this stuff. Unfortunately? No table of contents. There are some pretty funny pictures I got from reading it, though, and thankfully it's sorted into different letter sections. Doesn't make it less frustrating, though, especially given that Archive.org takes years to load. Also, I saw some old friends in the book, so that's nice.
Okay, uh, while we wait for her to keep sifting through the pages, uh... you wanna tell us about yourself, Quicksilver?
I like to cause problems on purpose!
...Yeah, evidently.
OH MY GOD ITS THERE
nevermind
Back to the drawing board. It's at this point that I'm losing hope, so I'm going to use this opportunity to ask you all for help with this. I'm leaving a link to a picture of the bibliography of this book, and I hope any of you guys will have access to some of these books and can maybe help track down this mystery. I can't offer much of a reward, unfortunately, but I'll be thankful until the end of my days.
So yeah. A very different upload today, I'm well aware, but I do want to find the ultimate origin for this Q-toting spirit. The link to the bibliography is here. Trust me, I'd be doing a lot more of this research myself if I was capable, but I'd rather not burn myself out completely.
#smt#shin megami tensei#megaten#persona#daily#this is genuinely like#i need help with this one#i can't find much of anything past the source already mentioned#am i just looking in the wrong places?#i wanna find out where this originated!#was it made up for the book?#is this a real phenomenon?#so yeah#if you're capable#please help with this episode!

Headcanons #3
âŽď¸ (can't find the ascii one on mobile) Friendship headcanon!
I got 2 ideas to get into here so bare with me :3 James is a complex animal
Starting out, when James was younger he didn't have a lot of friends at all. If anything, he had 1 consistent friend through high school.
I feel like as a kid and in middle school James was a bit outgoing. He was loud, playful, confident, and funny. Other kids still didn't really like him, even when he was still relatively fun and cheery. He's just... got a vibe. Other kids can tell there's just something weird about how he talks and acts that made them label him "the weird kid". He unfortunately was a theater kid, but he doesn't really talk about it a lot.
After realizing that people just didn't really like him, and after the way his father dismisses his upbeat attitude and interests, James kinda retracts into himself and becomes a really quiet introvert.
High school he's just focused on graduating with high enough grades to get into the workforce quickly. He became very goal oriented and less focused on his social life.
His one friend would be really chill and relatively outgoing, but he'd respect that James prefers to be passive in group settings or hangouts. He likes to just sit and observe what his friend and friends' buddies are doing, occasionally participating however he can.
After a while they'd lose touch because adulthood makes that stuff difficult.. especially when you're rushing into a relationship with someone you're totally codependent on. James and Mary both would kinda drift from their high school friends since they had eachother.
âĄ
LATER in life... assuming by some miracle things either went better in the encounter with Eddie OR in some nice AU where Eddie and James meet on good terms, I think they would be best friends.
In the Remake I really get the impression Eddie wants to be friends with James, but James seems... really judgemental. That wasn't really present in the original, or at least not to the extent it is now. James does talk down to Eddie, but only when it feels justified. The only time he seems to judge him is when we won't go after Laura, which is understandable. Other than that he uses that same kind, gentle demeanor he uses for Angela, and he seems pretty genuine when he tells Eddie to leave town asap.
Their old actors became best friends after filming and still are. There probably wasn't as much of a bond between Luke Roberts and Scott Haining for the remake so that genuine connection wasn't present. (EDIT: I recently found out Eddie has a mocap actor and a seperate voice actor, my hunch is the chemistry is lost because Luke likely didn't meet or work with Scott much)
James does seem to genuinely worry about Eddie across all versions. In the novel he even attempts to save him after their fight, holding his hand and promising to "go get help" (you are in The Labyrinth, James...) He really doesn't want to fight him. I do love the remake ESPECIALLY how they improved Eddie's bossfight, but I don't like James angrily punching Eddie in the face :(
(Side note, last time I fought Eddie on the PS2 version, he insisted on ONLY punching me? He refused to shoot me for some reason. He just kept beating me while I filled him with shotgun shells.)
âĄ
I think Eddie is very laid back and simple minded, he'd pretty much never get into an argument with you over an opinion, so James loves being able to just bitch and complain about movies or things in the news at his buddy. Eddie just laughs and soaks it in, tells James he's a riot when he's pissed about stupid stuff.
I just know Eddie and James would be best friends. Eddie would become the funny uncle that isn't actually related to anybody, but he's still part of the family.
(Unless Mary isn't in the picture then maybe James should... kiss him.)
Also, totally just me who thinks this because of their voice actors (and Twin Peaks), but a slightly older less money-tight James and Eddie buy motorcycles and ride together.
