LAKE MUNGO (2008)
Tumblr media
This is a documentary style movie about a girl who goes missing one day while out with her family. It is pretty well done and I would say reasonably thoughtful as fake documentaries go. A good and interesting film if you are looking for a doc-style program with a few twists and turns.
⭐⭐⭐.5
Tumblr media
After being missing and presumed drowned, Alice’s body is found in the water. Days after her funeral weird things start happening around her family's house like noises coming from Alice’s room. After having a spiritual guy come in to basically confirm that it is Alice in the home they hold a seance and see Alice in the recording. This really excites the parents to the point where they begin doubting if Alice is really dead, that maybe the father misidentified her body so they EXHUME her corpse (wow, wack) and confirm that the corpse is in fact Alice. Then, after being caught in one of the fake photos, the son admits he made up the photo and video evidence they found which was devastating to the mother. The son was unsure why he did it but he thought it was because he wanted her exhumed because he was hoping it wasn’t her either? Either way, wack and a half.
Tumblr media
Around this point in the story the bombshell is dropped that Alice was in a relationship with her neighbors? Wack and a HALF. She was pretending just to be babysitting the two neighbors kids but instead she was fucking both parents, absolutely wild. None of her friends knew about it and as soon as the couple heard the girl was dead they packed up and skipped town. Alice is/was a troubled girl.
Tumblr media
Finally we find out our movie is called Lake Mungo because that is where (on a class trip) Alice had a vision of her own ghost and ritually paid her favorite things to it but that didn’t matter, she died anyway. WACK. I cannot imagine being spooked by my own ghost, talk about awful. Especially if you drowned like Alice did… After going to Lake Mungo and learning that last bit of information about Alice it seems like they have freed her spirit from this plane and when they return home it appears that she is no longer haunting them. The credits show a couple of the different photos/videos that Alice was actually in which was kind of neat and spooky. A nice little end cap of things you may have missed during the film so it was nice that they went over them again.

hello hello hello
i just want to say i love your little drawings so much they're adorable and so full of life and everything feels exciting in them and i love how you draw and make really fun stuff for many of the minor characters, you're doing such a good job with them and it gives me so much joyy
Hi Hi Hi
Thanks for liking my stuff! Happy to bring you joy, drawing these brings me joy!
Also its fun to get into and draw minor characters because their reading lists are super short lol! But I like to give a little love to characters that most people might not know about, in fact here's some random drawings that I had in the back-burner for the past year! Never could find a chance to just post them:
Here's a cute drawing of Cyclone, Maxine Hunkle! Wanted to give her a cute costume makeover. Kinda has a magical girl look to it huh? Took a bit of inspiration from Ojamajo Doremi, but also she's meant to resemble Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz! Both the princess and the witch. I have a bit of idea of what I'm going do with her, but that's for later.
Tumblr media
Got a drawing of Gan, Jason's friend from the Knight White books. Not sure if she exist in my Training Wheels au, but I like her a lot. Her rapport with Jason was fun to read.
Tumblr media
Here it looks like the Outlaws are trying to recruit new members, from the Relative Heroes group, Damara Sinclaire (Allure) and Tyson Gilford (Blindside). They're not likely to join, preferring to stick with their own group. Just as well since Damara's powers might make things a rather chaotic, she doesn't need that drama in her life lol. Tho I like the thought of Tyson helping out now and then, his invisibility would be pretty useful.
Tumblr media
Here's some random assortment of heroes, Ray Terrill the...Ray. Amethyst, tho top pic is uncolored (im lazy) but theres a Sailor Amethyst to make up for that.
There's the first Green Lantern (Alan Scott) with his kids,Jade (Jennifer Lynn Hayden) and Obsidian (Todd James Rice). Wonder why their babies here, de-aging mishap?
Jason and Toni gossip about their fellow teammates, and down below Jason decides to annoy a young Kyle Rayner. A universal constant!
Tumblr media
Todd can't help but join in!
Tumblr media
Also some cute father-son bonding! I sent this to someone else earlier, so imma just stick here too.
Tumblr media
For a really minor character, here's Jay, Eddie and Rose meeting up with a very strange new friend!
Tumblr media
And lastly here are the Metal Men, or should I say the mini-Metal Men. Read some comics about them, including a bit of silver age as well (they get destroyed pretty often, kinda funny ngl). I thought about what kinda sidekicks they could have, but I didn't want to look up metals or learn about metallurgy or chemistry or whatever. So I just made them smaller, its just temporary though, aren't they cute? Look at poor Copper, she just wants to join in!
Tumblr media
Anyways, hope that wasn't too much, tagging all of this is gonna suck.
Sorry I haven't been posting, due to Tumblr being a pile of shit and trying give our stuff to ai websites. So I thought I would download nightshade and glaze, but that didn't work out at all (I got a new laptop but it still wont render for me at all). So I'm just gonna hope my opt-out in the settings will be enough for now. Sigh!
Hope you like all this anon, might be a while til I post again. Later!

Guy Gardner: Warrior #20 (May 1994)
"EMERALD FALLOUT," Part 3! The "Emerald Twilight" tie-in storyline kicks into high gear as Guy is joined by the Justice League, some former Green Lanterns, a (not so) secret villain, and, at last, new writer Beau Smith! Nothing against Chuck Dixon as a writer, but it's under Smith that Guy Gardner truly became a Warrior.
At the end of GG:W #19, Alan Scott met Guy at the JL's HQ to ask for his help with figuring out what the hell's going on with the Green Lanterns these days. Alan mentions the green dome that covered what remains of Coast City (GL #48), and Guy answers: "Whaddya mean 'remains'?" Yes, Guy is just learning that a major American city where he lived for several years has been totally destroyed...
Tumblr media
...but, to be fair, he'd been replaced by an evil alien clone when that happened (this means that the Guy who got some good zingers at Aquaman's expense during Coast City's memorial in Superman #81 was actually the clone).
While Alan and Guy are talking, Colos of the Darkstars ("that second-rate, low-rent Green Lantern wanna-be's" as Guy puts it) also stops by to let everyone know that several GLs, including good ol' Hal Jordan, are missing. Others have been found -- dead. Guy insists, in not very polite terms, that he should be the one to lead a group to planet Oa to find out what's happening, but then Wonder Woman intervenes and... agrees with him?!
Tumblr media
So, it's decided that Guy will lead a possibly suicide mission to Oa because he's the only one in the League who knows his way around the place. Martian Manhunter, Captain Atom, and The Ray are also coming along. Ex-Green Lantern (and Hal's ex) Arisia is also at the JL HQ, for some reason, and wants to join Guy's Suicide Squad, but Guy won't let her because she's got no powers and he already feels like he's babysitting The Ray. Right before they're about to leave for space, though, Arisia returns with a giant Cable-style gun, ankle pistols, and, perhaps most importantly from Guy's perspective, a far more revealing outfit. He lets her come, obviously.
Tumblr media
(And pouches, but I didn't really need to tell you about the pouches.)
As the group approaches Oa, they run across a ton of GL corpses floating in space. It's only once Guy is actually down on the planet and sees the destruction first hand that he realizes his vision of Hal trashing the place while fighting Sinestro (GG:W #18) must have been real. This leads to the heartbreaking moment from the cover when Guy finds Kilowog's skull on the ground, where Hal left it after killing him (GL #50), and cries for the big poozer. Martian Manhunter and Arisia are also pretty shaken up, but they don't have a lot of time to mourn before everyone is attacked by green monsters.
After several pages of all these heavy hitters (and Arisia) being completely owned by green goop, we find out who's behind all this: HAL JORDAN!
Tumblr media
Which we already knew, because we've been reading Green Lantern, but it's still a cool "reveal." TO BE CONCLUDED!
Plotline-Watch:
Ice also wants to come on the mission to Oa, but Guy turns her down far more gently than he did with Arisia, telling her she can't come because he simply can't face the possibility of something bad happening to her (plus he wants her to take care of his crippled supervillain brother). As he leaves, she says "Good-bye, Guy" and drops an icy tear on the floor. I like this scene because it doesn't hide the fact that Guy is a giant sexist, but his genuine concern for Tora still makes him sympathetic. The "good-bye" is particularly poignant in light of near future events...
Tumblr media
Before reaching Oa, the group runs into another former Green Lantern: Probert the Bad One, the barbarian GL that Beau Smith introduced in GLCQ #8. Probert is honoring the last wishes of dead GL Graf Toren by "igniting his path to his ancestors" (setting his corpse on fire, I guess?) and is glad to see Guy there, since Graf had spoken highly of him. Smith has said that he had plans for Probert to become a sort of mentor to Guy, but sadly that never happened; he'll only make a couple of appearances after this.
Looks like Probert didn't bother checking Graf's pulse before performing final rites on his body, since Geoff Johns would reveal much later that he was captured alive by the Manhunters after this. Actually, I don't think Johns read this issue: at least one of the GL corpses we see floating around (Chaselon, the orb guy) would be shown to be alive during Johns' run without explanation.
Tumblr media
Ironic that Guy criticized General Glory for not paying attention to the news in GG #16 (since Glory hadn't heard about the whole "evil clone" thing) when he himself doesn't watch them at all, it seems. Based on what's been going on in the Superman titles, it's been a few weeks since Coast City blew up. Hard to believe something like that would be out of the news cycle in that time, unless there was some sort of presidential sex scandal and/or celebrity murder case going on.
The Wonder Woman interaction is interesting because another thing Smith has said in interviews is that he wanted her and Guy to become an item, but not really, but yes really. His idea was that, for whatever reason, Guy and Wondy would have to pretend to be romantically involved as part of some mission, with the obvious hilarity resulting from DC's foremost macho knucklehead "dating" a feminist icon. But then, at some point, it'd be hinted that they'd actually started developing feelings for each other. Maybe it's for the best that this story never happened, because the resulting WW/GG fanfics might have destroyed the nascent internet.
Tumblr media
I like this moment with Guy telling everyone they better be confident in their "manhood, womanhood or whateverhood" if they're gonna go on the mission, after overhearing The Ray trying to give him some sass. Guy Gardner says trans right???

NEXT: Gardner vs. Jordan!

Continuing Absolute Power:
Absolute Power #2: oh look, Dick finally gets the moment and position he's theoretically been in since Dark Crisis. Bruce is so proud of his boy. Ollie finally gets underway with his triple cross. Waid shades the fact that half these heroes no longer have civilian casts by going "why don't we go after their civilian loved ones" and excusing it as "oh we don't want to hurt ordinary people, we want to save them" blah.
Absolute Power: Task Force VII #4: THE BROTHERS OF ALL TIME! Pornsak Pichetshote you can write Dick and Tim any time you want to.
Tumblr media
"God. I should have known you'd have thrown together your own resistance. I mean, I guessed it the second I heard you on the secure line..." awwwww Dick look at you gush.
Also look at Tim once again going "look I know this location holds a lot of traumatic memories for our family but on the other hand it makes an excellent base that nobody would suspect..."
Also just happy to see Ray Terrill getting some time on page.
Green Lantern #14: I still have no idea what is happening in this title, but it feels really, really good to see Alan Scott sitting at a chessboard, staring at a white king, saying "Checkmate". Really, really good. You are so screwed Waller, that's your King playing your troops right now. And Alan's only made a single move with his White King, taking over the square that starts out as the White Queen's.... (I can't diagnose everything that's happened in the game, but I can tell Black has castled and that Fernando Pasarin knew exactly what he was doing with the art)

Justice League International romances and flings
Trying to track canonical couplings within the team, even though I’ve only read a few issues. Preboot only.
Ice/Guy - most well known and actual emotions involved
Bea/Guy - I have heard about something happening after Ice died - maybe a manifestation of grief (similar happened Tim Drake and Cassie Sandsmark, which I deeply disliked, but they aren’t Guy and Bea)
Bea/Nuklon - Don’t know him, but heard something happened?
Bea/Booster - Recently read they had a fling?
Bea/Ted - I know it happened in Convergence, but was there anything actually in continuity?
Bea/Oberon - Teased at, but I’m unaware if anything happened.
Bea/Rocket Red - Kissed at least, in Generation Lost
I’m noticing a theme here.
I was going to say Scott & Barda, but she wasn’t on the team.
The Ray and Black Canary had a thing in his comic.

Bob Dole: A life of service
Bob Dole, the long-time senator, former Republican presidential nominee and World War II hero, died XXX at age.
Growing up in a blue-collar family in Depression-era Kansas, Dole rose to become a fixture in Washington, D.C. Badly wounded in action in Italy, he lost the use of his right arm, but reached the peak of Republican politics, serving as the party’s presidential nominee, vice presidential nominee and Senate leader in a career that spanned nearly four decades

New Gods, Pt 1
Inspired by @pastel-petticoats‘ Earth 54 New Gods, who were more godlike beings who incarnated & spoke through humans
In E136, This is much the same. The New Gods are beings of the Fourth World who incarnate into the mortal realm. This has ties to the greater creation story of E136, and a collected ‘Monomyth’ that inspires a lot of other myhts. (One hint about that, Scott Free is actually sort of a Lucifer-like figure, but with the specifics lost)
Apokalypse
The New Gods of Apokalypse mostly incarnate within the religious interstellar empire known, appropriately, as Apokalypse. Another facet of the Apokalyptan New Gods is Intergang, a cult masquerading as a criminal syndicate. Their ultimate goal is to find the completed Anti-life Equation, and bring the entire universe under their control. More & more of their incarnations have begun appearing on Earth
Gods/Incarnations include
Darkseid-Uxas of Termagent, the original planet that would become the world Apokalypse
Prophets-Bruno Manheim, Victor Zsazs
Steppenwolf, the Warmaster-Unnamed human Demigod
Grail, the mother of Evil-Heggra of the Amazons
