Electic Moves--Montgomery Scott x Reader (ToS/AoS compatible)
This is the LONGEST insert I have ever written holy MOLEY. Here it is at a whopping 5,423 words. I mostly wrote this with ToS!Scotty in mind but I think it also works for both ToS and AoS! I’ll also pop this up on Ao3. Fic is based off my favorite band The Orion Experience and their song Electric Moves
Warnings: Kissing
Electric Moves
“Alright that’s the last of the wires!” you yelled to your superior wiping your safety glasses clean of debris.
“Alrigh’ let me take a look at ‘em,” Montgomery Scott said, crouching next to you. He examined the junctions of the circuit boards and nodded in approval. “Not bad…not bad at all Lieutenant. No bubbles… joints are solid. This soldering is better than some of my own. Must be those steady medical hands.” He winked at you and you put your safety glasses back on to conceal a blush.
“Thank you Mr. Scott,” you replied.
“Lass, I’ve told you already just call me Scotty. Don’t make me order you now,” he joked.
“Sorry. Thank you Scotty,” you put your tools back in the small box and hand it back to the older man. His hand brushed over yours as he takes it from you making your breath hitch.
“No thank you for lending us a hand down here. Doctor McCoy said you were a fast learner but neglected to tell me you were a near genius with mechanics. I ought to have a word with him, keeping a talented lass like you all to him—_______, you alrigh’?”
Scotty must have noticed your face morphing into a deep red from underneath your goggles. You run the back of your hand across your forehead, hoping hed buy the redness from the heat down in the engineering room.
“Yeah I’m…I’m fine just warm. Goodness how do you live like this down here all the time? It’s hotter than Vulcan!” You exclaimed, earning a chuckle from Scotty.
“Well I s’pose we just get used to it eventually, ain’t that right Kern?” A man slightly younger than Scotty nods in agreement, through you’re pretty sure he didn’t hear what Scotty asked. “Well I think we’re all done down here. Thank you again. It was an absolute pleasure having you down here. I hope we’ll see each other soon.”
He held his hand out to you and you took his surprisingly gentle hand in your own. “Any time, Scotty. It was an honor working on her.”
“Her?” he asked, eyebrows raised.
“It! Her—uh the Enterprise!” You ran your hands over your face. Surely your blush was obvious by now.
Scotty belted out a hearty laugh. “Lass, I thought I was the only one who referred to the ship as a lady, other than the Captain of course.”
“Well—yeah it’s like in those old stories about sea mariners and pirates and even in early space exploration. Their ships were always referred to as female so I just kind of let it slip into my vocabulary. Besides,” you gestured to the warp core. “The Enterprise is like a human being. She has a heart, a circulatory system, a brain…All sorts of anatomy. It’s just made of metal.”
Scotty looked at you full of admiration. “Lieutenant _______ I believe you and I are going to get along quite well.”
You turned to him and smiled. “I sure hope so Scotty.”
The next few days you doubled back and forth as both Assistant Medical Officer and engineer. Though most of your time was spent in med bay assisting Doctor McCoy with patients and testing, you also assisted Scotty with warp core diagnostics and repairing small details on the lower decks. You grew fond of the crew down below becoming friends with Ensigns Kern and Russell but your admiration mostly resided with Scotty. If fact, your admiration was becoming even more: each time you passed him your heart would speed up and you could feel yourself going red. Your stomach flipped and your knees weakened and if your eyes met his, oh stars your words would catch in your throat and you could barely keep yourself from stammering. Eventually, though your heart still raced when he got too close, you managed to get used to his sweet conversations about the starship and his daily life.
Two weeks after the two of you met Captain Kirk announced there would be a week-long shore leave after a recent encounter with Harry Mudd left the Enterprise in disarray and in need of refueling.
“Can’t believe we nearly lost the ship in a bet. Mudd would have had us floating through the galaxy if you hadn’t gotten that gauge recalibrated Mr. Scott,” Bones said as he stepped off the landing pad and onto the Federation sanctioned planet.
“Aye, but I can’t take all the credit Doctor. In fact it was your assistant who wrote the equation. She’s the real star of the show,” Scotty said clapping a hand on your shoulder.
“Well Lieutenant, seems like we owe you a drink or two,” Bones said.
“That’s very kind of you but I plan on curling up with a good book and working on some small projects I’ve been meaning to get done during leave,” you replied.
“Ach lass you have to take a bit of a break. You’ve been working plenty,” Scotty said.
“Thank you Scotty but I’m going to sit this one out.”
“I understand,” he replied. You didn’t catch the sadness in his eyes as you turned to head to your hotel room. “It won’t be the same without you!” He called after you.
You turned around and threw him a dazzling smile. “Enjoy your evening gentlemen!” You responded with a mock bow and disappeared into the crowd.
As soon as you were out of sight Bones turned to Scotty. “You really have it bad for her, don’t you?”
Scotty scoffed at the doctor. “I haven’t the slightest idea what you mean!”
Bones rolled his eyes and retorted, “Oh please. ‘It won’t be the same without you’?”
“Well I simply meant we would miss her.”
“You’ve been looking at her like a lovesick teenager. It’s sickening,” Bones responded. The two of them began to walk to a small diner, serving refreshments from different parts of the galaxy. “One bourbon and a scotch on me.”
“Doctor you aren’t going to get me drunk and have me spill my secrets.” Scotty said as a Betazonian male placed his drink in front of him.
“You don’t need to spill anything it’s written all over your face. You get all goo goo eyed with her. Nurse Chapel noticed it, Uhura noticed it, hell, even Spock has mentioned how you’ve been talking about her nonstop.”
Scotty sighed and took a sip of his scotch. He ran his hand through his chestnut hair for a moment before saying, “I don’t know what to do McCoy. She’s on my mind constantly. Working, off duty, hell even in my dreams. The first day when she came down to work on the circuitry she was so kind and sweet, a wee shy too, but she’s also smart and creative. The way she figured out the equation to save our ship was incredible!”
“Then what seems to be the trouble, Mr. Scott? You aren’t technically her reporting officer so there aren’t any regulations against it.”
“That’s not the problem I just…I don’t want to make her feel uncomfortable. She’s a quiet woman and she hasn’t made any indication that she wants to pursue anything outside of work. I, well, I don’t even know if she considers me a friend,” saying that out loud broke Scotty’s heart and McCoy could see it on his face.
Bones waved the bartender over and ordered another round for his friend. “Listen Scotty, I’m a doctor not a love expert. But I do know my assistant pretty well and she talks about you a lot. She sings your praises. Hell, she’s been spending more time with you than in her own office. The girl likes you she’s just too shy to make the first move.”
Scotty shook his head in doubt and McCoy sighed. “Come on Scotty. Let’s finish up our drinks and we can talk about this some other time. I know Jim was thinking about going to a little hole in the wall club of some sort and I’m going to need someone to help carry his miserable behind back when he out drinks himself.”
Scotty stared into his glass and said, “Aye.”
***
Meanwhile you began to unpack your shore leave bag, distracted by Scotty’s words.
‘It won’t be the same without you.’ What could he mean by that? He’s never been out with me before, heck I’ve never been out with anyone on the starship before. Could it be that he had hoped I would come out?
“This is all so confusing!” You yelled to yourself, throwing down a towel. “Stupid feelings.”
You flopped on your bed and stared at the pastel purple ceiling weighing your options. You could continue to pine after Scotty in secret, watching him as he eventually fell in love with someone else and—no that felt awful. You could tell him how you feel, get rejected, and never be able to work in the same room with him—that felt even worse.
You sat on the edge of your bed and sighed. You needed to do something to keep your mind off Scotty. The clock on the computer on your desk flashed 20:00.
“Computer, what is there to do on this planet during the evenings?” You asked. The computer whirred to life, ticking with calculations.
“Sources for entertainment near your current location. There are six bars within walking distance. Two are karaoke bars, three are exotic stripping clubs, and one is a dance club.”
A dance club? You thought excitedly. It’s been so long since I’ve been dancing. “Who’s performing at the dance club? Anyone good?”
The computer whirred again before stating: “Popular intergalactic band The Orion Experience will be performing live throughout your shore leave.”
“Thank you Computer. That is all,” you said and the computer powered down. You sat on the edge of your bed staring at your luggage in front on you. If I’m going to do this, I’m going all out tonight.
You sprung up in excitement and grabbed your bag. “Screw sadness, screw the rules, I’m about to be Cinderella at the ball.”
An hour and a half later you checked yourself out in the mirror. You purchased two dresses, your choice for this evening was a jeweled emerald green dress that stopped mid-thigh and white boots. You even splurged on some makeup and changed your hair. At a glance you could barely recognize yourself.
Shooting a wink at your reflection you strutted out of your room and out the door not even noticing the three Starfleet officers you passed on the street.
***
“Mr. Scott, Bones is right. You need to just come right out and say it. Quick, like a band aid. It will be over in a minute.” Captain Kirk tried to persuade the Scotsman.
“Thank you, Captain, for the sage advice. And thank you Doctor McCoy for telling the Captain about my personal affairs, I greatly appreciate it,” Scotty replied with a glare to the brunette.
McCoy rolled his eyes. “Well I’m sorry but I wasn’t going to let you look like a depressed Sehlat the whole shore leave.”
“I do not look like a depressed Sehlat!” exclaimed Scotty. Bones and Kirk stared at him intensely and he relented. “Gentlemen, I thank you for support. But I’m an old man—much older than __________. And she should be with someone else her age. As beautiful as she is, finding someone else wouldn’t be a problem.” Scotty’s eyes began misty and he blinked back tears.
Kirk clapped a hand on his friends shoulder. “Now Mr. Scott there will be no tears tonight. The night is young and there is a bar just down the streets with all sort of intergalactic alcohol. Let’s forget about our problems even if it’s just for the night.”
But I don’t want to forget about her. Mr. Scott thought to himself, but he knew voicing his opinion would get drowned out by his two friends. “Aye, where are we going lads?”
“Well,” Kirk began rubbing his hands together. “I thought we would check out that bar I was telling Bones about earlier. I’ve heard that they have these dancers that—“
Kirk was cut off as a woman walked past in a short green dress and white boots. The three men stared after her as she sashayed out the door into the crowd.
“Jim…who was that?” McCoy asked staring after her.
“I’m…not sure. I don’t recall ever seeing her before,” Kirk replied.
“She has to be on the Enterprise though. This hotel was booked for us by Starfleet and no other ships are docked so it’s just us,” Scotty said.
“She couldn’t be a Romulan spy could she?” McCoy asks.
“A Romulan, spy or not, would never—could never—have that strut in their step. Especially in those shoes,” Kirk responded.
“Of all things you could comment on you mention her footwear?” Bones joked.
“Of all the things I could comment on her shoes were the most appropriate. Do you have anything to add Doctor McCoy?”
“Not at all, Jim.”
“Good,” Kirk began to follow the woman but was stopped by Scotty.
“You don’t plan on following her do you?” He asked.
“Scotty, the three of us have no idea who she is and we know our crew better than anyone else. Whoever she is, she’s obviously gotten through our security systems and we need to know how. Besides aren’t you two a little curious to see who she is?”
Scotty sighed for what seemed to be the hundredth time that day and he followed his two friends through the street after the mysterious, and yet oddly familiar, stranger.
The bar pulsed with the beat of the band and you were bumping and grinding your way through the crowd. You felt different, alive, on the dance floor. A cheer went through the crowd as you spun through a dance circle. Each move was filled you with energy, you were electrified by the music and you sang out with the rest of the crowd.
“Somebody told me, you got electric moves. Out on the floor you’re like lightening striking,” you sang off key with everyone as the band went into the final chorus. You turned again as the song began to transition to another but froze mid step as you spotted McCoy, Kirk, and Scotty staring in your direction whispering to themselves. You made eye contact with the chief engineer for a brief second, both confusion and recognition evident in his eyes. He slowly got off his chair and began to walk towards you, startling you out of your trance. You turned your back towards him and ran out the door.
***
The three men sat down at bar scoping the dance floor for the mysterious woman.
“You sure she went into this one Jim?” McCoy asked the blond sipping a drink.
“Positive. Keep your eye out for anything suspicious,” Kirk said surveying the dance floor. “Mr. Scott, have you given any more thought to what Bones and I were saying earlier.”
“Now Captain, I told you I don’t want to pursue anything—“ he was cut off by a cheer and applause on the dance floor.
“There Jim! She’s over there,” McCoy exclaimed. The three men stared in her direction, watching as she danced sensually, hands in the air laughing and stomping her foot to the beat.
“She looks familiar. I just can’t put my finger on it,” Kirk said. McCoy and Scotty nodded fixated on the woman. She did one final turn as the song transitioned into a new one but, as she looked in their direction she froze.
“It can’t be…” Bones mumbled.
“Is that…Lieutenant ___________?” Kirk asked still staring at her.
Scotty watched her intently as they maintained eye contact. It was _________ there was no doubt in his mind. Seeing her with such fire in her soul was intimidating, there was no doubt about that. She radiated confidence and seeing her with such energy made Scotty’s heart swell in infatuation. Clenching his fists, Scotty knew he had to take a chance or he was going to have a heart attack. Taking a deep breathe he stood up, knees weak not from the alcohol but from the nerves. He steadied himself and began to approach her gaining confidence with each step. However about ten steps in the woman who held his soul broke eye contact and ran out the door, leaving the shattered pieces of his heart where she last stood.

Morning hit you like a Bat’leth; your mouth was dry and every vibrant color of the wall sent a wave of nausea through your body. The headache you had was unsurmountable and you grabbed the hypo you left on the table and injected it. Moments later your headache was gone and your nausea was slightly more manageable.
You revisited the events of last night grinning s the memories came back to you. You looked at the dress that was discarded on top of your suitcase with a fond grin, eagerly thinking about the second number you had waiting for tonight. However your feelings of excitement were smothered as soon as you remembered who saw at the bar watching you. McCoy. Kirk. Scotty.
“Oh my God,” you cried out to yourself putting your head in your hands as you tried to erase that memory from your mind.
They must have thought I looked ridiculous, you thought. I made such a fool of myself. Tears pricked at your eyes and you tried to will them away. Even though you knew none of them would make fun of you—well McCoy might tease you but you could handle him—you knew it would impact how the other two would look at you. If there was a black hole close enough you would jump right into it.
Your stomach growled and decided to get something to eat to keep your mind off of everything. Throwing on your blue Starfleet uniform you walked across the street into a diner. Beings of different races, genders, and ages sat throughout the establishment and were even peppered with Enterprise officers and crew.
Walking to your table you heard the voice of someone you didn’t want to hear: Captain Kirk.
“Lieutenant _________! Come have a seat with us,” he said.
You sighed and though you could have rejected his proposal you also wanted to have a moment to explain yourself—to explain you didn’t always look so uncoordinated and dramatic.
“Good morning Captain, gentlemen,” you nodded to McCoy and Scotty as you sat beside the latter. He didn’t greet you with the usual smile he always had around you. In fact he didn’t greet you at all.
“We were just discussing this woman that we saw dancing last night. It really was something else,” Kirk said.
Oh God here it comes, you thought to yourself.
“She was fantastic, _________, you should have seen her. She had this control over the floor. It was almost supernatural,” McCoy exclaimed. “At first glance we thought she was you,”
You nearly choked on your water. “You thought she was me?” They didn’t realize it was me?
“We certainly did. Then Scotty said you planned on working on some projects during shore leave,” Kirk replied. “How did they turn out?”
“O-oh. Fine. They weren’t anything too difficult,” you replied, relieved.
“And your reading? How was that?” Scotty asked bitterly.
You were taken aback by the harshness in his voice. “It was…fine I guess. Scotty are you—“
“I’m fine Lieutenant __________,” Scotty said. Kirk and McCoy exchanged looks as Scotty got up from the table. “Lads I have some work that I need to catch up on so I’m going to head back to my room. Have a good day.”
The three of you watched as Scotty left the diner without as much as a goodbye to you. You looked down at your plate of food that was just served suddenly nauseous again.
“What the hell was that all about?” McCoy asked in shock.
“I have no idea,” Kirk replied. “But I intend to find out.” He and McCoy followed the Scot out the door leaving you behind, your food hardly touched as tears welled in your eyes.
***
“Scotty! Hey Scotty!” McCoy pounded on the door to the Chief Engineer’s room. “Open up we know you’re in there.”
“Step aside Bones,” Kirk said, punching an override code. The doors slid open to Scotty’s room revealing the Scot seated at his table a bottle of scotch in hand.
“Hello lads, I wonder what brings you here?” Scotty asked sardonically, taking a hearty swig of his drink.
“You know very well what brings us here Scotty. What the hell is your problem? You’ve been in a crappy mood since we got back to the hotel last night and now you’re taking it out on _________?” McCoy asked, arms crossed over his chest. Kirk watched Scotty, slowly putting pieces of the puzzle together.
“I don’t feel like answering that question, Dr. McCoy. Frankly I don’t want to discuss anything with anyone. I wish to be left alone with my scotch,” Scotty said.
Captain Kirk sat at the table to level himself with Scotty. “Scotty,” he said. “Mr. Scott, look at me.”
Scotty sighed and turned to Captain Kirk. Kirk studied him for a brief moment.
“We were right weren’t we Mr. Scott?” Kirk asked softly and put a hand on his friend’s shoulder.
McCoy looked between the two. “Right about what, Jim?”
“The woman at the bar last night. It was Lieutenant __________, wasn’t it?” Jim asked.
Scotty stared at the Captain for a long time before whispering, “Aye.”
The three men waited in silence, waiting for someone to say something. The room was filled with nothing but the ambience of chatter in the halls and the echo of Scotty’s affirmation.
“She ran from me,” Scotty said mournfully.
Kirk nodded.
“Why? Why would she run?” Scotty asked.
“I can’t answer that for you, Scotty,” Kirk said.
Scotty stood up and walked to the window, looking out at the city below. Midday had approached by then, the sun high up in the cyan sky. “I don’t know what I was thinking going up to her. She was having the time of her life dancing and singing. What would she want with an old fool like me?”
“That’s horseshit,” McCoy said, going over to Scotty.
“Bones…” Kirk warned.
“No, Jim I have to say it. Scotty what you’re saying is pure horseshit and you know it. You’re making assumptions and that’s all you’ve done this whole time. Have you even talked to ________ about your feelings yet? I bet you haven’t and I guarantee you have her feeling like complete crap after the way you ignored her this morning.”
Scotty contemplated everything his friend said, knowing he was right. He hasn’t talked to ________ since they docked and not giving her a chance to explain herself wasn’t fair.
“But why would she run from us. From me?” Scotty asked.
“Hell if I know. Maybe she was embarrassed that we saw her, you know how shy she is. And I’m not saying what she did was excusable, but dammit talk to her. Ask her why she ran away and tell her how you feel. Because if you don’t you’re going to lose any chance to have with her, and that will be a damn shame,” McCoy said.
Scotty nodded his head, understanding that everything McCoy was saying was tough love. “Do…do you have anything to add, Captain?”
Captain Kirk waved his hands innocently. “No…no I do believe Bones covered it all.”
Scotty grabbed some glasses from his cabinet and poured drinks for the three of them. “Well then let’s have a drink shall we? And then…well then I’m going to go make a visit to ________’s quarters.”
***
You wrapped your hair in a towel as you stepped out of the shower and threw on some loungewear. Your hangover was completely gone by now but in its place was a heavy heart. You messed up really bad, running away from him last night and then not explaining yourself this morning. You looked at the dress laid out on your bed and sighed, debating whether or not you still wanted to go out when you heard a knock on the door.
“Who is it?” You called out.
“It’s Scotty. May I come in lass?” He asked.
You nearly tripped over yourself running to the door, pressing the button to open the door to let him in.
“Mr. Scott, good evening,” you said hoping the waver in your voice wasn’t as prominent as you thought.
“Back to calling me Mr. Scott are we?” He asked gruffly as he stepped inside.
You winced at his tone. “Sorry…Scotty—“
“I was joking _________,” he said with a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
“Oh.” The two of you stood in silence trying to figure out what to say next. Moment’s passed, then you two both began at once.
“Lass, I—“
“I’m sorry.”
The two of you looked at each other at the same time before letting out nervous laughs.
“You’re sorry?” Scotty asked in slight confusion.
You nodded. “Yes I…I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have run from you. I didn’t…I didn’t want anyone to see me dancing and I was so embarrassed when I saw you…” You were so overwhelmed with everything your lip began to tremble.
“Now, now ________, don’t you start crying,” Scotty said as he wrapped his arms around you and pulled you close to his chest. “You have nothing to be sorry for, this is my fault. I jumped to conclusions.”
You allowed yourself to be held by him for a moment, relished breathing in his scent of scotch and oak, and savored the feeling of his one hand stroking your hair while his other hand rubbed circles on your waist.
After a moment you pulled back to look him in his eyes. “Jumped to conclusions?” You asked.
Scotty took a deep breath and took your hands in his. “Yes I…I may have thought you didn’t want to have a dance with me. Thought that you thought the idea would be repulsive.”
Your hand flew to your mouth. He was going to ask me for a dance? “I thought you were going to tell me that I looked ridiculous,” you confessed.
Scotty’s eyebrows shot up his forehead. “Now why in heavens would I do that?” He exclaimed.
“I mean…I probably did look ridiculous flailing around like I was,” you said.
Scotty laughed. “You looked nothing of the sort. You…you were incredible! You dance beautifully, hell McCoy and Kirk didn’t even recognize you until I told them today. We thought you were a spy.”
“A spy?” You shout in laughter.
“You have to admit you looked a lot different last night.”
You chuckled and nodded. “I certainly did.”
You two stood in silence for another moment. “Why would you think I wouldn’t dance with you?” You asked.
Scotty sighed, “It was a little foolish of me. I’m so much older than you are—“
“Not by that much,” you cut in.
“But still old enough. I thought you were repulsed by the thought of it. I should have known better,” he said.
“Scotty, I would have very much liked to have danced with you had I not run away,” you said placing a hand on his cheek.
He put his hand over yours, rubbing it slightly. “________ I believe we both are foolish.”
You nodded in agreement your eyes captured in his gaze.
“I—also was going to tell you something last night.” Scotty said hesitantly.
You nodded for him to go on.
“Seeing you dancing there—every time I see you as a matter of fact—I get so overwhelmed in your beauty. That day you first came into engineering you were just a ray of sunshine without saying anything. Then you finished those wires and talked to me and I thought I was going to pass out. You talk about the Enterprise like she was your child and I know you can’t see the way your eyes light up when you talk about her but I do and it can make even Klingons blush. You can imagine what it does to my heart.” Scotty paused to take a breath and you could feel your heart racing.
“_________, I know this might be wishful thinking but I need to tell you that I like you. That I am falling head over heels for you. And I don’t intend on making you feel uncomfortable in any way regardless of how you answer my question. If you want to just be friends and never speak of this again I will. If you want me to leave you alone for the rest of our time on the Enterprise together I will. I just want to ask if maybe you would like to go out with me?”
Your breath hitched head absolutely spinning with every word he said.
“Scotty,” you began. “I would like it very much if you would kiss me.”
A chuckle of relief escaped Scotty as he wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you in for a gentle kiss. It was neither long nor short, just enough for the two of you to lose yourselves in each other’s touch of your lips.
You both pulled away, light blushes on your cheeks.
“I would love to go out with you Montgomery Scott,” you told him.
Scotty was so overjoyed that he let out a boisterous laugh and hugged you, lifting you a few inches off the ground.
You laughed, body feeling like it weighed only feathers.
“Would you like to go on a date right now?” You asked boldly. “I was thinking about going to the dance club again.”
“Now how could I pass up dancing with the most beautiful woman in the universe?” Scotty said, pecking your cheek.
You blushed, realizing you would never get used to being showered with complements. “Wait here,” you said. “I’m going to change.”
“You could always change right here.” Scotty joked, laughing as your face turned crimson. “I’m teasing you. Go ahead and get ready.”
You shook your head and grabbed your dress of your bed. “Go ahead and sit down. I’ll be right out.”
Scotty sat down and waited in anticipation. He took in all the details of your hotel room wondering what kind of stuff you kept in your room on the Enterprise. He saw your dress from last night peeking out from your suitcase and he chuckled thinking about the last twenty-four hours. You were his; he was yours even with how ridiculous you both acted.
A few moments later, you poked your head out the door. “Hey Scotty, would you mind zipping me up?” You asked holding the front of your dress up.
Scotty looked at you, mouth open in shock. Your hair and makeup were styled the same way you did yesterday but the dress was different. It was a dark blue glittery dress with three quarter sleeves. The dress was short in the front and long in the back and flared out beautifully. You wore black pumps with it.
“Scotty?” You asked, snapping him out of his trance.
“Sorry lass, you just…you look stunning.” Scotty said as he walked over to you.
You turned and he slowly zipped up your dress his fingers occasionally brushing against your skin, leaving your skin burning where he touched you.
Once zipped, Scotty kissed the nape of your neck making you go weak in your knees. You turned to him and pulled him in for a searing, passionate kiss. His hands pulled you tight, dipping you slightly, and ran them across your back. You ran your hands through his mahogany hair gasping slightly at his desperation. He took that moment to slide his tongue in your mouth increasing the passion of the kiss.
The two of you pulled away after a moment, blushes evident in your faces.
“I do believe you owe me a dance.” Scotty whispered to you.
You smiled and pulled him towards the door. “I certainly do. I believe we have time to finish this later if you want?”
“For you, my love, I have all the time in the world.” Scotty said, squeezing your hand as you led him to the club.

‘’Three more moves and I will finally beat you for once.’’ You calculated how to take Christine’s king after losing four times straight. You were both skilled at chess but you played more for fun. You got tired and asked Carol to advise you about your moves beforehand. Now she was watching you play being proud of how well you followed her advice.
‘’See (Y/N), you can be an extremely difficult opponent when you focus on the game. Queen to C4.’’ Christine studied the board anticipating your next move.
‘’I am playing to enjoy my free time. I am not competitive like the rest of you. Yesterday Leonard was staring me down to distract me while we were playing. And that’s part of what I'm doing now. Rook to B6. Check.’’
After you won the game you thank Carol for her help.
‘’Wait, was she helping you the whole time? And you left to play by myself?’’ Christine pretending to be annoyed by her friend’s betrayal.
‘’No, she was just my mentor. I wanted to win at least once this week. To gain some confidence before the mission on Friday. I haven’t been on such an important mission before and I am a little worried.’’
‘’Don’t worry about it, Ensign. You will have the best people there with you. Jim said taking a seat next to you with Jaylah. You hadn’t noticed them earlier and he scared you a little.
‘’I know that Jaylah will protect both you and Scotty while away. And Lieutenant Collins knows what to do in the event of hostiles, he has been attacked once and beat them. There is nothing to worry about.’’ His reassuring words thought fell on deaf ears because right at that moment the people he was talking about entered the room. And all you did was to stare at the man you had fallen in love with since you started working at the enterprise, Montgomery Scott. You met in your first week when he came by your room to check on Jaylah, your roommate, who had broken her arm. She was asleep at the time so you made sure Scotty knew you were taking care of his friend. His charm and his caring personality are what drew you to him and in a few months, you ended up daydreaming about dating him.
‘’Are you listening to me?’’ Jim interrupted your thoughts.
‘’No sorry. What were you saying?’’ You turned to face the captain and give him your undivided attention.
‘’Nothing important. Now, I’m pretty sure I know why you weren’t paying attention to me.’’ He smiled knowingly at you.
‘’You know?’’ You thought you had kept your crush a secret from everyone.
‘’It’s obvious (Y/N). You are staring that I would try to believe you are trying to read his mind.’’
‘’Please don’t tell him anything. I will try to find the perfect opportunity to confess my feelings myself.’’
‘’Of course, don’t worry about it. I promise to say nothing. Now, you should go get everything ready for your mission.’’ He watched you leave and took another look at the men across the room. Scotty was still talking to Lieutenant Collins about something, the chief engineer was obviously passionate about while the other man seemed a little bored. At that moment Jim felt happy he only promised not to talk but you didn’t say anything about meddling. So, he came up with a plan to help you find your opportunity.
For the next few months, it was like someone was trying to sabotage your changes with Scotty. You barely saw him and when you spotted him somewhere he was always busy. At first, you didn’t think anything of it, still, you began getting worried. What if Jim had told him about your feeling and he was afraid to reject you?
On top of that, you weren’t sent with him on missions anymore. It was like Jim thought you and Collins made a good team you were sent everywhere together. When a linguist and an engineer were needed someone, it was always the two of you. You started getting sick of seeing his face. Not that he wasn’t attractive still you missed the time you get to spend with Scotty. You would talk about the ship, your families or your home back to Earth. You knew it would be a stupid decision to question the captain but you thought that asking him about it wouldn’t hurt. Maybe after the next mission.
So, when a spaceship crashed, you found yourself on the rescue team. You were sent to communicate with any survivors so they will aboard the ship and then allow the doctors to treat them.
The mission was hard but you and the rest of the team managed to bring all the survivors on board. The engineers that were on the team were able to salvage some of the spaceship’s part in order to be included in making the new one for the crew. You were proud of yourself since it was a major success and you finally used some of the languages that your supervisor had taught you.
However, the bliss you felt from completing the mission didn’t distract you from the conversation you wanted to have with the captain. You just had to make sure to voice everything like you wanted to gain experience working with some other members too and not as a complaint against lieutenant Collins.
‘’Hey (Y/N) congratulations on the mission today. All our patients seem to feel at ease with you and were thankful they could communicate with someone. Great job.’’ Christine complimented you.
‘’Thanks Chris, I appreciate it. Listen, I can’t talk right now and I bet you still have a lot of work. Do you mind if we talk about this over breakfast tomorrow?’’ Your eyes were once on her and once scanning the corridor for Jim.
‘’Of course (Y/N), are you looking for something?’’
‘’Yes, Jim, have you seen him?’’
‘’He was just here to be briefed by doctor McCoy about the patients. He said he was going to his quarters to work on something.’’
‘’Thank you, Chris. I will see if I can find him there.’’
Just as your friend mentioned Jim was in his quarters making sure all the parts of the crashed ship had been properly cataloged to be sent back so they can be part of the new ship. He was done when you showed up and asked to talk to him.
‘’(Y/N) just the person I wanted to see. One of them to be exact. I will plan a little celebration for our mission when the crew of the USS Gladiator is all healed. And I would love to honor all the team who achieved it. What do you day?’’ He motioned you to sit with him on the couch.
‘’That would lovely both of us and for them. To left their spirit a little. However, there is something I would like to discuss with you. I don’t want you to take this personally or as a complaint. Just as a question.’’ You paused trying to find the right words even if you had practiced this in your head all the way. Jim didn’t interrupt you, he was curious and let you speak when you were ready.
‘’Is there a reason I’m always on away missions with the same people? I mean, I could learn some more things if you change the structure of the teams.’’ You looked hopefully at him hoping he would agree with you.
‘’I see your point and I do believe it’s a good strategy. But I would hate to break you and Collins apart. You seem to work fine together and honestly, I am expecting a thank you for pairing the two of you together for so long.’’
‘’Why would I thank you, Jim? It’s not like he is the best engineer to work with. I would thank you if you paired me up with Scotty because he is the best, or with any of my friends.’’
‘’What do you mean? I pair you with him so you can talk about how you are feeling. You told me you liked him.’’ You both looked confused by his conversation.
‘’I never said that. What are you talking about?’’
‘’Back before your first difficult away mission. Don’t you remember? I was trying to ease your concerns and you totally blew me off to stare at him.’’
That day came to your mind and you realized what had happened.
‘’Oh, my God Jim, I can’t believe this. I wasn't talking about him. If you remember that scene clearly, he didn’t enter the room alone.’’
‘’Yes, he was with... He tried to picture the scene. ‘’Scotty. He is the one you were talking about?’’
‘’Yes. I have been in love with him since my first week here. Please tell me you are the only person on the enterprise who knows about my apparent crush on Collins. You haven’t told him anything, have you?’’ You started panicking at the prospect of him believing you like him.
‘’No don’t worry. I haven’t told Collins anything about it. You should probably talk to Scotty though. With how much time you have spent with someone else he might have gotten the same idea I had.’’
‘’Jim you are absolutely right. I will go to talk to Scotty right now. Also, I'm not going to be able to have dinner with you tonight. I might end up making other plans.’’
‘’Of course, Ensign, just make sure you thank me later for my help.’’ You gave him an annoyed look. ‘’For making you admit your feelings by matchmaking you with another.’’ He giggled as you blew him a kiss and left to find your future boyfriend. However, what he failed to mention was that Scotty knew about his matchmaking plans from the beginning. He even helped execute some of them.
When you made it to engineering, Scotty was filing the reports from a previous away mission.
‘’Ensign (Y/LN), can I help you with something? I see here that your mission was successful. Congratulations on communicating so well with the survivors of the crash. I am sure Lieutenant Uhura must be proud of you.’’
‘’She is, all the survivors seem to trust me enough to allow me to translate the doctors that are treating them.’’ You were excited about helping those poor people. However, your nerves were overwhelming.
‘’And I'm sure you worked perfectly with lieutenant Collins.’’ You were too focused on what you wanted to tell him to notice the tone of his voice.
‘’We worked well together. But I’m sure you mentioned it because you were aware of Jim’s plans, right?’’ His eyes fell worrying you have figured out he was hoping to be in Collins’ position. However, you thought he was just sorry for helping Jim. He nodded without saying anything out of fear that his voice would crack.
‘’Well… that shows us that even though he is a certified genius our captain can sometimes be a little dense.’’ You approached Scotty and stood in front of him.
‘’He was right about me having feelings for someone. Just got the person wrong.’’ You hoped that you had given him enough clues to realize what you were implying.
‘’What do you mean? Who is the right person?’’ He dared to feel hope even after telling himself for months that you wouldn’t look at him.
‘’A beautiful guy who can always make me feel safe around him. Who makes sure I’m comfortable after any jump and who once had to carry me to the med bay. Who has an amazing sense of humor and the most adorable accent I have ever heard. Do you believe he will ever let me be more than just friends?’’ You looked into his eyes to determine the answer yet he beat you to it.
‘’Absolutely, he would a fool not to. Only an idiot would deny the opportunity to date such a beautiful creature. One that can brighten up the room with their presence and who can be reasonable even when angry. And I would like to know if that person would like to have dinner with me.’’ He shyly reached for your hand.
‘’Of course, I would. Let me change clothes and I will meet you in the dining hall.’’ You gave him a kiss on the cheek and left. You walked fast to your room and he stayed touching the area your lips were just on, both of you with wide smiles on your faces.

OK Scotty with "It was just a dream. You're alright." <3
You woke to tossing and turning next to you. You lifted your head slowly, looking over at your partner in bed. His brow was soaked in sweat and he was mumbling. You reached a hand over and tried to wake him. “Monty?” Nothing. You shook him harder, “Monty? Come on.”
Suddenly he bolted up and yelled out for you. He was shaking, raising a hand to his face, trying to catch his breath. You sat up quickly and placed a hand on his back as he tried to even his breathing. “Easy Monty. Easy. It was just a dream. You’re alright.”
He turned and hugged you tightly. Pressing his face into your neck. “It was awful.” You ran your hands over his back, a hand moving to run through his tousled hair.
“What was it?”
“Y-you got really hurt. Really hurt on this away mission and then you…Oh god….right in my arms…” You kissed his cheek and took his face into your hands.
“I am right here. Alright? I’m real. I’m solid.” You took his hand and placed it high on your left side. Letting him feel your heartbeat. “See? still livin’.”
“There was so much blood,” tears streamed down his cheeks as his eyes searched you.
“I know sweetie, I know.” you wiped tears from his face. “But it was a dream. Just a dream.”
“What if it comes true,” he whispered. The way his voice broke shattered your heart.
“Well, I can’t promise you I’ll always come home. Or even that I’ll come home uninjured. But I can promise you I’ll always do everything within my power to come home to you Montgomery Scott.” You gently tilted his head down to kiss the crease between his brows. “Do you want to go back to sleep?”
He shook his head, “Not just yet. Canne I just look at ya for a bit? Hold ya’?” You nodded and settled into his arms. “I love you. So much.”
“I love you too, Monty.”

Needing Eachother
I am on mobile right now but have had this queued up forever and just reread it and tgought it’d be nice to post for near Christmas time. Pure fluff. Can’t add a tag list sorry ppl. Also can’t add a cut thingy either. Sorry Enjoyenjoyenjoy Pairing: Scotty x reader
Word Count: some
-Enjoy!-
As soon as Scotty’s face filled the screen in front of you, you knew this wasn’t going to be a happy call.
“Hey.” You said, trying your hardest to smile even though you felt like you were dying inside.
“Hey there.” A flicker of a smile touched his lips, but there was not the usual jovial tone to his voice.
“What’s wrong?” You asked, pressing your palms into the bedspread.
“I was abou’ t'ask you the same thin’.” He exhaled.
“What do you mean?”
“Love, why’re you crying?” His voice was soft and tender.
“I’m not…” You touched your fingertips to your cheeks and were surprised to find tears there.
Scotty clicked his tongue softly and you could hear him shuffle in his seat, “Wha’s the matter? I hate seein’ you so sad.“
“I don’t know…” You drew your forearm under your dripping nose and pulled your knees to your chest, “I don’t know.”
Resting your chin on your folded knees you looked up at him through watery eyes. His eyes were sad too, you realized and it only made you let out a little sob.
“I just really miss you, I guess.” You sniffled, tearing your eyes away from his and resting the side of your head on your knees.
“I miss you too, love."
"I jus-I just could-could really use one-one of your hugs right now.” You gasped, and the mere thought of his arms wrapped around you sent you into a fit of sobs again.
“Shh… Y/N, I know, and if I could I would be there in a second.”
“I know.” You looked at him again, “Where’s the teleporter machine you’ve been-been talking about? I thought you were an engineer.” You joked, but it didn’t make him smile.
“I think I’ve done well enough developing the transporter, thank you very much. Unfortunately I think it’s more of a time machine tha’ we need.”
You huffed a watery laugh and rubbed your face into your knees before leaning back and wiping at them with the back of your hand. You sighed and reached out to touch your PADD screen.
“How much longer until we are together again?” Your voice was barely a whisper.
You desperately wished that it was your fingertips touching his cheek rather than the hard screen of the PADD.
“3 months.” He sighed, and you saw tears well up in his eyes, “I wish I could come home now. I jus’ want t'a hold ya again. I hate-I hate sleeping alone.”
Now it was your turn to comfort him, “I do too, Monty. But I’m sure you don’t miss my cold feet against your back all night.” You smiled.
He huffed a laugh and wiped at his eyes, “I would take your ice-cubes that you call feet over sleepin’ alone on this bloody lonely planet any day.”
“Well I promise as soon as you get back that you can have as much of my cold feet as you want because it’s going to be days before we are going to leave this bed.” You bounced up and down slightly on the bed and were relieved to see a real smile pull at his mouth.
“Sounds like a deal.”
You fell into a comfortable silence and you eventually felt the tight coil of missing him lessen a little, and your tears dried on your cheeks.
“I love you, Monty.”
That made him smile and tilted his head as his whiskey-brown eyes met yours sweetly, “I love you too, Y/N.”
“And soon we will be together.” You said. This was always your little routine before you hung up.
“Before ya know it.” Scotty responded as per your little imaginary script.
You drew your finger one more time down his face on the screen before you brought the PADD closer to your face, pressing your forehead against it.
Pulling back, you found tears perched on your eyelids again, “I need you, Montgomery Scott. I need you I need you I need you."
You repeated the words until you were nearly sobbing them, and you watched his face as it broke down with each repetition of the words.
When you paused to take a shaky breath he interrupted, "Love, you wouldn’t even believe how much I need you too.”
You wiped at your eyes again and smiled, “I should go to bed.”
“Wish I was there."
"I wish you were too.” You blew him a kiss before ending the call.
You don’t know how long you sat there, hugging the PADD to your chest and sobbing, but eventually you fell asleep, cradling the device as if it were Scotty’s arm drawn around your chest.
Finally, it was time.
As you stood at the landing dock, you bounced up and down on your toes, wearing a stupid smile on your face that had been there since yesterday.
He’s coming home today. He’s coming home today. He’s coming home today.
“Are you excited or something? I can’t tell.” You turned to Jim who stood beside you and punched him in the arm.
“It’s been 18 months since I’ve seen him, you asshat, I get to be excited.”
Jim chuckled, “But didn’t you see him a few months ago?”
“That was 6 months ago and only for 4 hours on one of his re-supply missions.” You snapped.
“Okay, okay, you get to be excited.” Jim smiled down at you and you turned your attention quickly back to the bustling shuttle bay.
Jim said they’d landed already, but you didn’t know which ship it was or if they had even gotten off yet. The suspense was killing you.
You waited in silence next to Jim, your eyes constantly scanning each ship, each person that had redish-brown hair, each red shirt, hoping it was him.
“You’re gonna give yourself an aneurysm.” Jim teased.
“Shut up.”
There. Your eyes caught on someone. Nope.
Ooo, over there.
Nope.
You were beginning to get frustrated when you saw another head of reddish-brown hair. Coupled by a red shirt. And that scarf. You had given him that scarf.
Your heart soared.
Monty.
Your legs nearly gave out before you commanded them to surge forward, and they somehow carried you into the busy shuttle bay. Squeezing past person after person, you felt the cool air hit your cheeks and realized you were crying. Your legs were flying under you, faster than you had ever run before, and your heart was hammering in your chest.
As you neared him, you realized that he hadn’t seen you yet, and he seemed to be scanning the crowds as well. Looking for you.
“MONTY!” You yelled, and his head snapped in your direction.
You had no idea how you remained standing when his eyes met yours. There he was. Flesh and blood and oh-so-familiar. Something between a screech and a shout of laughter left your lips and you started running again.
Scotty’s smile was unbelievably wide as he dropped his bag and spread his arms. You nearly leaped into them as you finally closed the last few feet.
“Monty!” You called again as he wrapped his arms around you tight, tighter than ever, and still you couldn’t get enough.
“Y/N, Y/N, Y/N.” Scotty chanted, and that’s when you realized that he was crying too.
You felt him press hard kisses to the side of your neck, working his way up to your jaw and eventually across your cheek, and when you couldn’t take it anymore, you turned your head and captured his lips in yours.
It was a desperate kiss, dry and harsh, a kiss that means ‘I haven’t seen you in forever’, ‘I miss you so much’, ‘I just want to feel your lips on mine’. But eventually it melted into softer kisses, gentle ‘I love you’ kisses and you found yourself giggling despite the tears still running down your cheeks.
Eventually, you pulled your head away, resting your foreheads together, the rest of your body pressed tightly to his.
“Monty.” You breathed, more tears (happy ones, you realized now) tracked down your cheeks.
“Y/N.” He laughed, and the smile on his face and the admiration in his eyes melted your heart.
“Do you even know how much I missed you?” You teased, brushing his hair over his ears.
“If it’s even half as much as I’ve missed you, then it’s a hell u’va lot.” He kissed the smile off your face.
Breaking off the kiss, you buried your face in his neck and inhaled the familiar scent o him, and you felt his hands squeeze your waist softly.
“Nice to have you back, Mr. Scott.” Jim’s voice broke through your little bubble of Scotty and you drew back to Scotty’s side, slinging your arms around his waist and pressing your cheek into his shoulder.
“Nice to be back, Cap’n.” Scotty pressed a kiss to the top of your head, and the arm that he had around you drew soft lines up and down your back.
“I was about to send this one to the medbay ‘cause I thought she was gonna faint while we waited for you.” Jim teased and you stuck your tongue out at him.
“And I can send you to the medbay for a black eye if you want one, Jimbo.” You joked, and Scotty laughed heartily next to you and pulled you closer.
“Alright, alright, my duty here is done, you two lovebirds go do whatever you lovebirds want to do, I’ll see you back on the ship.” Jim saluted before he retreated back into the busy crowds.
Scotty swung you around so you were in front of him again, encircling his arms around your waist.
“Now, lass, I would love a long hot shower – with or without you honestly I just need one at this point – a good hot meal, and to spend the rest of the day in bed with you in my arms.”
Your heart surged with happiness and you dove up to kiss him quickly, “Sounds like a plan to me.”
Scotty smiled and kissed your forehead quickly before scooping up his bag and slung it over his shoulder. You arms still slung around the other’s waists, you and Scotty started towards the exit ready to spend the next little while in each other’s arms.
-Thanks for reading! I hope you liked it!-

Scotty x Reader
So instead of doing work or the requests I have piled up, I decided to write this thing.
Rated: Not even T I don't know how to rate it.
Words: 444
Summary: You and Scotty skip work and get caught by Jim.
Jim had walked down to the engineering deck to check on Scotty, who wasn’t answering his communicator. Jim was just checking on everything after an unusually slow day, and when Scotty didn’t answer, Jim finally had something to do. He hoped Scotty was alright, but he convinced himself someone would have contacted him if he wasn’t. Maybe Scotty had just lost his communicator or was really concentrating on his job.
“We should get back to work,” you giggled as Scotty backed you up to a tank. You could feel the cold metal through your dress, but you didn’t mind; your attention was on Scotty. His arms were around your waist and he was planting small kisses down your neck. “It’ll be fine, everything’s taken care of,” he said in his thick accent. Because it was a slow day and you couldn’t resist, you gave in and pulled him up to kiss you. His hands moved to your hips and you put your arms around his neck.
Jim rounded the corner, searching for Scotty. He wasn’t where he usually was, and almost nobody in engineering had seen him leave. Jim had to find him on his own. Normally, all he had to do was listen for his accent, but for some reason Scotty was quiet. He could usually be heard yelling from across the room. Down another corner or so, Jim stopped in his tracks, regretting his decision to look for Scotty. Clearing his throat for attention, Scotty looked up from you in surprise.
“Captain,” you squeaked, blushing and hiding your face on Scotty’s shoulder. You cursed under your breath as Scotty acknowledged the captain’s presence. Jim smirked, “I’m glad you’re finally getting some action, Scotty, but I can’t have you missing out on status reports.”
“Aye, sir.”
“Well then, back to work you two,” he grinned. You saluted and watched as he left. After he was out of sight, you smacked Scotty’s chest, making him jump. “Hey! What was that for?”
“That was for missing a status report and getting us caught.” You weren’t scared Jim was going to do anything about this, but the feeling of getting caught skipping work made you uneasy.
“I didn’t know he was going to call for a status report! And I can’t help it if I love being with you,” he defended. You shook your head, “Nope. I’m mad at you,” you tried not to smile, but your effort was useless. “Okay, fine I’m not mad,” you sighed, “ but we need to get back to work.”
“Alright,” he groaned. You grinned and kissed him one more time before grabbing his hand and dragging him back to work.

Kiss Six: Tipsy Kiss - Mongomery “Scotty” Scott: Star Trek
MORE KISSES
You always loved being invited to the engineering parties. They were always filled with great people and great drinks that knocked everyone on their asses the next day. You lounged against the makeshift bar, a loose drunk smile on your lips. You watched the party, people talking and dancing. Letting go and forgetting all the stress this mission caused, even if it was just for a few hours.
You snapped your head to your right side when you sensed another body next to you. “Scotty,” you beamed and he snapped his head towards you a bright grin taking over his features.
“Lass, I’m glad you made it! Would you like a scotch?”
You nodded, “as long as it’s from your cabinet.”
He smiled and shook his head, “You think I bring one of my bottles here? Then you’ve gone daft. That’s all back at my cabin.”
“Later then,” you leaned in closer to him so your noses were no more than several inches apart.
“Later,” he agreed. He let out a short chuckle his eyes never leaving yours. “Lass, have I ever told you how pretty I think you are?”
It felt like your heart had stopped and was drumming a mile a minute at the same time. “No,” you giggled helplessly, a blush creeping up your cheeks. “I don’t think it’s ever come up.”
“Well, I do. And I think you are awfully smart for understanding all that gibberish that you and Doctor McCoy babble on about.”
“Yeah,” you asked leaning even closer, it was almost like being pulled into a star. “Well, I think you are really pretty,” Scotty let out a guffaw, tossing his head with the sudden burst. “And the way you talk about this ship, it’s like poetry.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah,” you confirmed. You let your eyes flick from his lips back up to his eyes and he did the same. “You wanna kiss me?” You tilted your head to the side, starting to giggle.
“Only if you let me,” he leaned closer to you and you could smell his cologne, and the whiskey on his breath. You pressed your lips up into his and he brought up a hand behind your head pulling your closer. You pressed your tongue against his lips and he obliged, moving his other hand to cradle your face gently. Your own hand coming up to latch onto his forearms. You hummed in content as you both took your taste of each other.
Finally, the need for air drove you apart. Your breath mingled between you as you only pulled apart a few inches. “You know,” you rasped, “I could really go for that scotch.”
Scotty grinned, chuckling, still breathless. He moved his hand from your cheek to take yours, “let’s go then.”

Summary: On your way to Chicago to search out new opportunities. Your car breaks down outside of a small town nestled near the mountains. Trapped for more than a week, you almost seamlessly fall into place. Which makes it even harder when you have to leave.
Pairing: Scotty/Reader (But it’s a slow burn so hold your horses)
Warnings: Helpless pining
A/N: Well finally finished this part of it. I think there might be 2 more parts before we are done with this I hope you enjoy.
Word Count: 1178
PART 1 PART 2 PART 3
Jim, Bones and the Sulus watched you walk down the street with some flowers in hand down towards Scotty's shop.
“Do you think he’ll invite her to the dance,” Jim asked nonchalantly.
Hikaru and Bones sighed, “Can you just leave this alone, Jim,” Bones barked. “All I’ve heard about for the last few days is Scotty and the drifter.”
Jim looked over at Bones with an impish smile. “Can you blame me? It’s interesting. Plus,” Jim grunted pushing off from the counter, where he had been leaning. “I’ve never seen Scotty like this! It’s good for him! Did you see them when they came in here the other day?!
“They came to the diner after they left our shop,” Ben interjected, leaning back into the conversations.
“After they went to the orchard. But they were all smiles and just chatting up a storm! She asked about Scotland,” Jim excitedly slammed his hands on the counter. “And she didn’t look bored after fifteen minutes, hell she asked for more detail! Guys, can’t you see?”
“That this will end in terrible heartbreak?” Hikaru suggested with a laugh. “If they keep getting pushed together they’ll only end up hurt at the end when she leaves.”
“Not true! She has no real ties to Chicago! It’s just a job! No friends, no family, no anything! She said so herself to him!”
Bones rolled his eyes like he was a conspiracy theorist, “You really have nothing better to do, do you?”
“Not till you get off work,” countered playfully with a wink.
You smiled at the small bunch of flowers in your hands. You tried your best not to read to much into it. It was probably just a friendly gesture. But no one had ever given you flowers. That wasn’t something people did. Right? No, no, no. Scotty was just a nice guy, you didn’t really mean much you were a unwilling client.
Still, you wanted to return the favor, taking half of the bouquet he got you to him.
You walked into the office, not finding him, then to the garage and you saw him leaning over the engine of your car, humming. “Scotty?” He whirled around looking surprised, a smear of grease on his forehead.
“Lassie,” he looked down at your hands. “Oh! Y-you got them!” He looked nervous, his eyes flicking from your hands to your eyes.
“I did,” you smiled warmly, feeling your own face grow warm.
“Well, you said you couldn’t keep anything alive, and you looked like you were really liking the flowers so I thought you could use some. And these ones are already technically dead so you don’t gotta worry about taking care of them. So when they,” he trailed off, hand on the back of his neck, suddenly realizing that he was rambling.
“Whither into crispy petal bits,” you encouraged with a small laugh.
“Right, you wouldn’t feel guilty,” he nodded. “So, did you not like them?”
“OH! No,” You shook your head vigorously. “I wanted to thank you, so I brought half over to brighten up your corner of town. I-I hope you don’t mind.”
Scotty stared at you for a good minute, his hands reaching for the small vase in your hands. “No, I-I don’t. Thank you,” he said softly, taking the flowers. “This is awful nice of you.”
“Well, you’ve been awfully nice to me.” An awkward silence hung in the air as you rocked on your heels helplessly. “So, what are you doing? I heard that you got the parts for Atticus.”
“Aye,” he beamed as he motioned for you to follow him. “Take a look. I’m taking out the old parts so I can replace them.” You looked in at the jumble of metal, nothing made any sense to you, so you glanced over at Scotty whose eyes were flitting around the machinery. “It’s beautiful huh?”
“Yes, I suppose, even if I don’t have a fucking clue what I’m looking at.”
“I could always teach you, so you know some things before you go back home,” Scotty offered, picking at his hands.
“I suppose, but I think that ruins the magic, and it relieves your tricks as a magician.” He started to laugh and shake his head. “What?”
“You are a romantic ain'tcha, Lass?”
“What do you mean,” you turned your head hoping he wouldn’t see your blush.
“Turning simple mechanics into magic.” You remained silent, especially when a hand dropped down to yours. “I like it. It’s endearin’.”
Your heart was hammering so hard in your chest you wondered if he could hear it You looked at your hands and over at him. Your face burning up. His look was so soft but you yanked your hand away. Probably a bit too hard. “I-I should go. I-I’ve made a deal with Jim, to um...Work with him.” You babbled at him walking backward, “So I don’t feel like such a freeloader. I’ll see you tomorrow.” You turned tail and squeezed out the door. Once out of sight you ran to your room at the bed and breakfast, heart thudding wildly.
Scotty stared at the spot you were. He wrung his hands while he sighed and shook his head. “You are an old fool, Montgomery.”
You had spent a few days helping out Jim in his diner. Sweeping, cleaning dishes, hell you even put a few orders for deliveries in. Jim was getting sick of you because it was not at all helping his matchmaking plans. As you were stacking plate Jim leaned next to you.
“So, Y/N. It not like I don’t appreciate your help. Hell, I don’t think this place has been this clean in years.”
“But,” you inquired, looking towards him.
“But, you need to get out more. See more of the town. See Scotty..”
“I can’t help him. I look into that engine and I have no idea what I’m looking at.” Jim scoffed as he picked the towel off your shoulder, slinging it over his own.
“I mean cleaning wise. You’ve seen it. The man could use less clutter in his life.”
“Jim, I like the diner. I meet so many people.”
“I thought you wanted to be useful,” Jim poked.
“Well, yeah.”
“You’ve outlived your usefulness here.” You gave him a blank look and shook your head.
“Okay, fine whatever.”
So, pushed out of Jim’s, you slid into Scotty’s office for the first time in a while. You stepped up to his desk where he was mumbling to himself looking at papers. “Scotty?”
“Lass? I didn’t think I see you for a few more days…”
“I-I thought you could use some help,” you offered, uselessly gesturing to the mess around him. “Make calls, file things?”
He grinned wide, “ Ach, Pavel's gonna love you. I just bought the lad on, you know, to train. I was gonna make him do all that. I’m useless at it.”
“Good thing I’m here then,” you smiled back at him.
“Aye,” He eyes finally met yours and there were a few beats of silence. “Good thing.”

Prompt: I hope you still have spots left, but I would like to request a AOS Scotty with the prompts "I dreamt about you last night" and "Just because." Thank you so much in advance and congratulations on 900 followers! ❤️ From the lovely: @im-an-angel-of-the-lord-you-ass
Warnings: None
Pairing: Scotty/reader
Word count: 482
A/N: I’m not doing a read more on this one because it was such a short one and I’m so sorry for that.
You knocked on the door frame of Scotty’s office as you entered. “Monty, I brought you lunch,” you said lifting the tray slightly for emphasis.
He looked up surprised, “Ah, lass! Whatcha, you do that for? It’s not lunch time, is it?”
You laughed as you kissed the top of his head as you placed down the sack lunch. “It is lunch. And I did it just because I love you.”
He took the tray and smiled at you warmly, then looking over at the food with a hungry glare. Just then his stomach rumbled. “Is this shepherd's pie?”
You nodded, smiling with your lip between your teeth. “Leftovers from the other night during shore leave. The one I made.”
“I didn’t think there were leftovers. I ate a lot of it.”
“I made some more before we left,” you kissed his cheek. You sighed looking at your watch, “My hour is almost up. I gotta get back to the astrophysics lab. I love you, see you later?”
“Always,” Scotty hummed before catching your wrist in his hand “Wait.”
“Monty I gotta go,” you pulled half-heartedly, but he pulled back, bringing you closer.
“I-I know hen but, I had a dream about ye last night.”
You felt your face turned red and attempted to yank way. “No way, I’m not having a quickie with you in your office just because,” you started.
“It wasn’t like that, lass!” Now Scotty was pink in the cheeks. “It was… us. But like years from now. We were on this porch and the sun was setting behind these huge hills. And-and You had all this beautiful grey and silver in your hair. You had these wrinkles to especially around your eyes and mouth and they just made you look beautiful and wise. We were holding hands and talking about something, maybe our retirement. And...Oh, y/n I just...I was so happy thinking we were growing grey together.” Scotty looked down at your hands, he seemed afraid of what you may think about that.
You smiled slowly, tilting his chin up to give his lips a kiss, keeping a hand on his cheek. “That’s beautiful. I have to get back to work but, I want to talk about the possibility of us actually turning grey together. Okay?”
“Aye, I’d love to have that talk.” He grinned at you, eyes sparkling with promise and hope.
You grinned at him as you started backing out of his office, “My quarters? Come by when you get off shift.”
“Will do, Lassie. See you soon.” He watched you go his grin softening into a warm smile. “Love you.”
You patted the door frame, smiling, “Love you, too.” With that you headed back to the lab you mind swimming with the thoughts of the future. Needless to say, you were pretty distracted the rest of your shift.

10 minute ficlet- The Lift Ride
Drip. Drip. Drip.
The red puddle was growing beneath your extended hand, the blood dripping off your fingertips and steadily towards the metal floor.
The lift was deafeningly quiet as it moved, such a stark contrast from the chaos you'd just been immersed in. So quiet that you could hear your quick pulse in your ears.
When he shuffled beside you it almost startled you, and you knew he was just shifting the weight off his hurt leg.
Slowly lifting your head, you brushed your sludge-matted hair out of your face with your good hand, ignoring the dark stains that were hiding numerous scratches and gouges.
As the lift shuttled downwards, floor after floor, the dread in the pit of your stomach grew, and you knew you had to break the silence. Had to say <i> something. </i>
"Monty?" You whispered, the name leaving your throat as no more than a rasp.
"Hmm?" You saw him shift his weight again out of the corner of your eye and a lump suddenly formed in your throat.
<i> What were you supposed to say to someone when you knew that when these doors open, you'd probably never see each other again? </i>
"I have to tell you something." Your voice was still raspy, but surprisingly stable.
He didn't respond this time. You didn't dare look over at him, you knew that would make the dam inside you break. Instead you looked down at your own shirt, the normally gold fabric spotted with deep red stains, and if the fabric hadn't been torn, you could've guessed they were nothing more than wine stains.
You clenched and unclenched your good fist, the one that was inches away from his, wincing as shots of pain slid up your arm.
You licked your lips. "No matter what we face on the other side of that door, I need you to know..."
You trailed off and looked up again, suddenly panicked as you watched the numbers on the display decrease rapidly, you were almost there. Almost out of time.
"What is i', love?" He prompted, the term of endearment leaving his lips as though he had called you that a million times.
And then the dam broke. But you didn't break down, no, rather it came to your more as a realization. You couldn't tell him. This wasn't the time. It wasn't fair.
"I was the one who drank your coffee."
He gripped the hem of his shirt and shifted again, confused.
"That one day where you'd left it on The Bridge, and came back for it but it was gone. Where you went spitting mad on all of the Bridge crew. It was me. I thought it was mine. I'm sorry."
He exhaled through his nose, as one would have to do if they were trying to laugh while sporting some broken ribs.
"'twas you?" He chuckled.
"Mhm."
There was a moments pause, so your eyes drifted back to the numbers on the display. Any minute now...
There was a brush against your fingers. Then again, until the tips of Scotty's fingers were entwined with yours.
The lump in your throat grew immeasurably and tears pricked at your eyes because of the small gesture.
"How 'bout this, lass? When we're done facin' whatever demons we ha'fta face ou' there, we can go for coffee an' you can repay me for tha' one."
Oh god, you were about to become an inconsolable, blubbering mess of fear.
His fingers tightened around yours momentarily.
"Sound good?" He asked softly.
"Yep." The word was barely audible from your lips.
The lift beeped suddenly, indicating that the doors were about to open.
Oh god, you couldn't do this.
Another small squeeze od Scotty's fingers and you met his whiskey-brown eyes through a watery gaze.
Then, the door slid opened.

Prompt: Congrats on 900! That's a wonderful big number! Could you do number 40 AOS Scotty, pretty please?? :D For @mustanglegends
Pairing: Scotty/Reader
Warnings: none
A/N: this turned out longer than I wanted. But I really, really love it. I hope you love it too.
Word Count: 1048
Two years. Two years to the day when you started dating one Montgomery Scott. You drifted around the room fixing the dinner you prepared.
As a career oriented adult you never really thought you’d run into love. Especially, not someone so wonderful as Scotty. And you never thought you find it during shore leave in an out of the way cabana on Starbase 3. A few shots and glasses of scotch later you were dating.
Your door rang and you ran to open it to your boyfriend. There he was in all his glory, still in his uniform, smudged with oil and sweat. “I-I didn’t want to be late, so I-I came straight here.” You smiled warmly as he continued producing a medium sized box. “This is for you,” he looked over your shoulder to see the dinner you made. “That looks wonderful!”
He reached in to hug you without thinking, but you gently pushed him back, “Hey! Easy there! If you want to clean up, I have a shirt of yours and some deodorant.”
“Are you sayin’ I smell,” he laughed. “Alright,” he kissed your cheek gently, “ I’ll be right back.” He left the box on the table heading for your bathroom.
Scotty stared at himself in the mirror, fussing with his hair. “Alright Montgomery. You are a Scott by God! You can do this. You love her, and she loves you.” He sighed once more, long and heavy, before exiting the bathroom to sit at the table.
You lifted you glass to him, “To us! Two years and more to come.” He gently clinked his glass against yours before taking a bit of his chicken pot pie.
“Oh, Lass,” he moaned. “T-This isn’t replicated. How did you manage this?”
You laughed as he continued taking a few large bites. “I dug into my can stash. The chicken, veggies, and soup came from there. And oddly enough I had biscuit mix. Hikaru let me raid his spice garden. And the other stuff I replicated. But I thought you might enjoy a more home cooked meal.” You ate some to revealing in the taste. Damn you were good.
“I think I love you even more,” he teased. He grew quite, staring into your eyes. “You are just wonderful.” He sighed softly reaching for your hand across the table. “I love you so much.”
“I love you, too,” you whispered. “Two years. It’s been wonderful.”
You reached behind you handing him a bag overflowing with tissue paper. “Here, open mine first.” He laughed as he took into his hands gently removing the paper.
As he pulled out a small bottle, “Isn’t scotch a little cliche, lass,” he chastised. You bit your lip as he stared at the label. “Y/N, this...this is the really good stuff.”
“Check the back.”
He turned the bottle over in his hands. Then his eyes began to water, “I-Is this from the distillery from my hometown?”
“Yeah,” You grinned scooting your chair close. “Single malt, 18 years. I thought you could use a little taste of home out here.” Scotty hung his head placing a hand over his eyes. “Monty,” you placed your hands over his shoulders, wrapping him firmly in your arms.
“This was my first drink. My da’ took me out for it.”
“Oh, sweetheart,” you called as his body shook with a cry.
“Thank you. This so, wonderful,” he hugged you tightly, pressing his nose into your shoulder. “How did you even find this?”
“I stumbled onto in at a starbase, don’t worry about it.” You reached your hand to the box he handed you when you first showed up. “Should I?” He nodded and you grinned as you opened up the box. You gasped as you pulled out a metal model of the Enterprise. “Oh, Monty!”
“I made it for you. It’s a scale model.” He offered, smiling as he saw you grinning, holding up the small ship into the light.
“You made it?” He nodded shrugging. “Who knew you were so artistic! She’s beautiful! Thank you!” You ran your fingers over the metal looking at all the intricate detail.
You looked up to see Scotty staring intensely. Like he was really thinking, his breathing was rapid and he had his lip sucked between his teeth. “Open it up where the bridge would be.”
You turned it over delicately in your hands, pressing a small button to open the hatch of where the bridge would be. You expected to see a model of said bridge, but no. There was a ring.
You gaped at it, reaching in and picking it up in your fingertips. It was a simple silver band, not much more. An engraving caught your eyes, it was small but read, “For my bonnie lass. Love Montgomery.” You raised your head to look at him, eyes burning with tears. You had to look down to find him on one knee.
“Y/F/N,” Scotty spoke shakily. “Two years ago, I didn’t know I could love anything more than this ship. But you, you showed me wrong.” He reached and grabbed your hand between his. “I love you so much. And I-I,” he stumbled over his words getting choked up with emotion, but he kept his eyes locked on yours. Oh, those eyes, those deep soulful eyes that spoke where his words failed him. “I had this whole speech, an’ now I can’t think of a word. How do you do that?” You shrugged uselessly as tears flowed down your face. He reached for the ring, in your fingers grasping it gently. “Would ya want ta marry me, lass?”
You pushed yourself down into his arms holding him tighter than you think you held anyone. “Yes,” you sobbed out pressing his face into his neck. “Yes, I want to marry you” Gently he pried you back, taking your hand and tentatively pushing the ring on your finger. “Where’d you get it?”
“Made it from an old piece of the bulkhead,” he whispered as he pressed a kiss on your temple. “You like it? I could always make another one if you wanted. Does it need to be sized, I took an educated guess,” you kissed him, holding onto the sides of his face.
“It’s perfect. Just like you.”

Warnings: Helpess pining
A/N: sorry I’ve been gone so long. I hope I can get some writing done on the five-hour band trip I’m taking on Friday. Also you meet Sulu! yea!!! Also not beta’d or revised that much, you might find errors.
Word Count: 1436
PART 1 PART 2
You fumbled with your jacket in the small mirror. You were nervous, why were you nervous? Mr. Scott, no, Scotty, was a nice man who just wanted to show you around town. Nothing more. There was a soft knock on your door, “yes?”
“Uh, Scotty is out front,” Pavel’s voice cut through the door.
YOu walked to the door opening it, “Good, I just got done getting ready.” You followed him down the steps and right out onto the small porch. “Scotty!”
“Y/N,” he responded smiling, his eyes flitting across you. “You look nice.”
“Thank you,” you gushed, “You clean up well too.” You shared a long look at one another, just enjoying the silence that hung between you, even though it got heavier by the second.
“So um, I uh promised yeh flowers and trees, dinne I?” Scotty rubbed the back of his neck as he gestured with his other hand up the street. “I hope this town isn’t borin’ ya lass.”
You laughed as you walked side by side, you hands behind your back. “No, not yet. In fact it’s giving me ideas for a story. I’m a Journalist, by the way. With the silly dream of becoming a novelist.”
Scotty looked over at you with a wide grin, “a journalist? Well, that is fascinating! That must keep you on your toes.”
You nodded, brushing your hair back, “Yeah, it usually does, and I love it, I do. But, I really want to just write stories. And that’s silly, only the lucky ever really make it.” You sighed looking at the ground.
“Hey now,” Scotty called, coming to a stop, forcing you to look back at him. “There is no harm in dreamin’. Now I know I don’t know ya very well but, I think ya’ll make it.” You felt your cheeks turning pink. His were too, “So you write,” he lead on again, prodding you for more information.
“Yeah, yeah, I do. I was always the kid in the back using all her loose-leaf paper to write stories. A friend of mine used to illustrate. She still does that now, illustrates for children’s stories. But anyone can write, you fix machines. Like that’s really cool,” you sighed looking at him.
He guffawed, “No I know you are just blowing smoke up my arse,” he teased. “But, cars and really all machines are my whole life. It sounds silly but it’s like they talk to me you know? I’ve always understood them more than people.”
“Kinda how like my muse whispers to me,” said looking ahead this time, even though you were finding you really like looking at Scotty. “Well, without you Scotty, I don’t think any amount of journalistic or creative writing talent would get me home. So thank you.”
He groaned this time, “Will ya quit thanking me? It’s my pleasure! Plus, Atticus hasn’t bitten me yet, so we are all good.”
It was your turn to laugh, “He’s been good then? Usually, all my mechanics end up with a cut from him. Gosh, he must like you!” Scotty beamed at you before he came to a stop in front of a shop.
“He must. Ah, anyway, here we are. For the flower bit at least!” You glanced up at the older withered sign that simply read “Florist.” “Hikaru and his husband grow the most beautiful flowers. And one of the lads that helps out times to time is gifted with orchids.” He lead you inside and you were greeted by two brilliant smiles.
“Scotty! And you must be y/n,” one of the men beamed reaching for your hand. When you gave them a puzzled look, he laughed. “I’m Hikaru Sulu, and it’s a small town, and Jim is a bit of a gossip.
“Ah. Yeah, I am Y/n. Scotty is giving me an official tour.” you looked around the small shop, the bright and fragrant flowers covering the walls. You wandered off to another part of the shop as Scotty stepped up to talk to Hikaru.
“So, that’s her,” Sulu mused. “She seems sweet.”
Scotty leaned on the counter, watching you walk around. “Yeah”, he sighed, “She’s really sweet. I wish she was staying.”
Sulu snapped his head towards the other man, “Oh, so you do like her.”
“I’m tryin’ really hard not ta’! But we were talkin’ on the way here and,” Scotty sighed heavily. “I can’t afford to like her. She’s gonna leave.”
“You can’t help who you love, Scotty,” Sulu chastised half heartedly.
Scotty stood up with a huff, “Ach, It’s not like that! She’s just...just. OH, you know what? I don’t got to go explain’ myself to you!” Scotty walked away to where you were in the store as Ben Sulu came up to stand next to his husband.
“So, he does have a crush on her,” Sulu sighed as he looked over at his partner.
“Not you too. Ben, we shouldn’t meddle.”
“If he buys flowers for her you owe me a twenty,” Ben said simply, kissing the other’s cheek.
“Deal.”
When Scotty caught up to you he saw your fingers brushing over the petals of the promised orchids. “Ah, I see you’ve found them!”
“Yeah, they’re beautiful,” you whispered. “It’s just so gorgeous. I could never keep something like this alive.”
“Actually, I’ve learned they aren’t that hard to care for. I’m sure the Sulus would be happy to teach you,” Scotty stepped closer to your side, looking at the brightly colored petals.
“I killed a cactus once,” you deadpanned without looking over at him. “I forgot to water it over like half a year. The dirt dried up and the roots shriveled up and it fell out of the pot onto the floor. My cactus committed suicide.”
You were surprised that you didn’t hear laughter, then you heard a snort. You looked over at the mechanic you had a hand over his mouth, eyes closed as he started laughing out loud. He started trying to take gasps of air, trying to stop laughing but inevitably breaking into more giggles. “Sorry, sorry,” He gasped waving his hand in the air. Watching this man, you felt affection blooming in your chest. The way the lines around his eyes crinkled up and how wide his smile grew was so handsome.
You discovered you like the way his eyes snapped and sparkled with laughter-induced tears, as he wiped them away. You needed to do that again, you wanted to see him laugh that hard again. You liked his laugh too, it was bright, full and so unapologetically loud. “Sorry, lass,” his voice pulled you out of your thoughts. “I just got this image. And, woo, It just got me.” Oh, no. He was blushing, was he really embarrassed over that?
“No, no! That’s okay! It’s actually pretty funny. But yeah, I don’t trust myself with plants. So,” you bit your lip, “You also promised me some orchards, Scotty.”
He started to grin widely, “That I did, follow me you’ll love it.”
As you reached the outside of the orchard you gasped as you could see the trees littered with almost ripened apples. “Oh, wow! You didn’t tell me it was an apple orchard! I love apples.”
“It was a surprise. Our town’s export is apples, well, mostly apples. We have a little festival every year before the annual picking. It’s actually in like a week and a half, hopefully, you’ll still be around. The O'Reilly’s hold a dance in their barn. It’s really nice, they hang lights up and it’s just nice,” Scotty trailed, placing his hands into his pockets.
“Well, by your projected schedule, yeah. I’d love to go, as long as there are apples involved,” you laughed, looking around.
“Does fresh-pressed apple juice sound good?”
“Very,” you sighed.
You walked around in relative silence, it was nice. You forgot your stresses, your worries that your recent predicament caused. And just let yourself be.
You don’t really know how long passed but you heard a clearing of a throat and looked over. “Are ye hungry? We could go down to the diner an’,” you didn’t let him finish.
“I have food in my car I can eat, I really should save my money for the trip out of here.” It hurt to say it, but it was what needed to be done.
“I didne ask that, lass. I asked if ye were hungry,” Scotty put his hands on his hip, puffing his chest in playful defiance.
“Scotty, I can’t ask you to do that,” you tired.
“Good thing I’m not askin ye then.”

Warning: potentially incorrect car talk.
A/N: This is part one of a series. It’s a modern Scotty AU. I thought of it when I noticed this old, I think abandoned building that used to be a place for a handy man. And it was called “Scotty’s” AND then the other day when I was out looking for a car I passed a small garage ALSO called “Scotty’s”. So I thought this was fate and finally, am sitting to write it. Enjoy.

PART 2 Part 3
You groaned as your car started billowing white smoke. “Mother of God,” you pulled over and stepped out of the car. You were out in the middle of nowhere, with no signal what so ever. “Motherfuck!” You looked around seeing a sign for a town about 3 miles out. Somewhere called, Oakhollow.
You hiked along the side of the old asphalt road, hoping a car would pass, but it never happened. You came to the small town a sign near the road. Welcome to Oakhollow: Pop. 1600 “Oh, Christ.” As you walked through, what you assumed was their main street you spotted a small diner. You walked in was met with a few very kind faces.
“Hello dear,” an older woman beamed at you. “you look a little rough. Are you alright?”
“No,” you sighed leaning on the counter. “My car broke down a few miles back. I was hoping I could find a mechanic. Or just some help.”
The woman filled you a glass of water, “Well, we have a mechanic, luckily for you, Scotty just purchased himself a tow-truck. He’s just down the road on the opposite side. You can’t miss it, his sign says Scotty’s.”
You nodded, taking a long drink from your glass. “Thank you,” you reached in to hand over some money.
“Honey. The water is free. Especially for someone who walked such a distance out where she had no idea where she is.”
“Thank you again.” you walked out the door. Heading down the street, finally coming up to an older building. With a large garage attached, the door open. You walked in slowly, noticing the pair of feet sticking from under a car. “Excuse me?” There was a thunk and a swear.
“Ach, damn it.” He slid out to meet your eyes. He paused a minute, he hadn’t seen you before. “Hello. Can I help ya, lass?” You bit your lip, all of a sudden losing the words you had prepared. You watched him stands slowly wiping his hands on a rag. “Are you lost?”
You felt heat rising to your cheeks as you realized you had been standing there like a dolt. “I’m y/n. My car broke down outside of your town a few miles back. I-I need a mechanic.”
“Oh! Well, we’ll have to bring ‘er in won’t we?” He reached out his hand but then saw how dirty it was and thought better of it. “I’m Montgomery Scott. But most call me Scotty,” he started headed to the tow truck, motioning for you to follow.
“He,” you corrected somewhat meekly.
You expected him to look at you like you had six heads. All your friends back home did when you informed them your car was named Atticus. But this man just smiled, “well let’s bring him in then.”
You sat quietly next to him in the truck until he got done hooking up your car to the truck. “Do you know what happened?”
“Well, I mean my gears have been grinding some. But I just ignored it, it’s a really old car.” He hung his head sighing. “That was bad...huh?”
Nodding, but still smiling, “you should go to the mechanic as soon as you notice anything off with your vehicle. Wha happened when your car broke down?”
“There was this like white smoke, I don’t know but it got really serious, really fast. I panicked and pulled off.”
“Smart move, I think I know the problem, but I need to take a look back at the shop. As he hopped back in he grinned at you. “So, you moving?”
You nodded, yeah, Chicago. Just a change of pace, well kinda. I don’t really know it’s more like I’m just trying to find myself.” YOu twiddled your thumbs a bit. Looking at your hands, as you thought about why you were moving.
“Ah, well I’m sorry you got stuck here.” He pulled into his lot. Hopping out of the car he unhooked it and set to popped the hood. You waited patiently as he went looking around poking his head in and out of your engine.
He hissed, shaking his head. “Oh, lass. I think I have an idea what’s going on, but it’s not good. I’m going to have to do a lot of work. Order some parts.”
You stared at him panicked, “excuse me?”
“Well, that grinding, was your transmission. And after some tests, I’m pretty sure you have a blown head gasket. I'mm gonna need to order some parts, and it's gonna take awhile. You’re stuck here until I can get you sorted.”
You dropped your head sighing heavily into your hands. “Fuck. Fuck. Fuck! ” You felt tears stinging in your eyes. This was just great, not only were you sure this was going to cost you a fortune, you were trapped out in the middle of nowhere.
“It’s alright. Marabell has a bed and breakfast. She’s always burning for some company. It’s really a lovely place.” He placed his hands on his hips looking at you.
“I-I can’t pay you until I get to Chicago. I broke my bank card. I only have enough money for gas and some food to get to where I’m going.”
“We’ll work something out. You can send me a check or something’ when you get where you’re goin.” Scotty shuffled around a bit, looking at his shoes a moment, then raising his head to make sure you saw the honesty in his eyes.
“A-Are you serious,” you mouth went lax as you searched for words of gratitude.
“We don’t have many options. So of course.” He started reaching for some of your bags, “Let’s get you over to Marabell’s” You didn’t know what really came over you but you hugged him.
“Thank you. Jesus. Thank you, Mr. Scott.” He gently patted you on your back smiling.
“Please. Call me Scotty.”

Prompt: Congrats on 900! So amazing and so well deserved! Can I please have solid Scotty fluff with number 19? I am in dire need of pure scotty fluff. Tanks. ❤❤❤ From the lovely @kaitymccoy123
Pairing: Scotty/Reader
Warnings: Nope
A/N: I made it very fluffy. It’s a shy bashful Scotty which is like my favorite Scotty. So here you go!
Word Count: 600
Jim smiled as he saw Scotty tugging nervously at the cuff of a white button up shirt and a blazer. “Don’t you look dapper, Scotty?”
Scotty’s head sprung up as he looked Jim in the eyes instead of the port. “Huh? Oh, yes. Thank ya. I-I um, I have a date with Y/N this evenin’ She’s a nurse. A bloody good one.” He sucked in his bottom lip as he still adjusted his shirt. “We decided the best place for a first date was during shore leave. So...here we are.”
“‘Bout time. You two have been beating around the bush for like a year.” Jim crossed his arms, grinning. “I’m happy for you.You two seem like you could be a good match.” Scotty nodded numbly, staring towards the gate, waiting for you to exit the ship. “Scotty, relax! She clearly likes you! Just be you, alright? And this is Jim talking, not your Captain. She’d be lucky to have you.”
The pair looked at each for a minute before Scotty smiled, “Thank you, Jim. T-tha’ means a lot.” Suddenly his attention was pulled to you in a nice sun dress, messing with your hair before your eyes met his. “Oh, wow.”
Jim slapped Scotty on his back before walking off. “Don’t have too much fun.”
Dinner was quiet, you two chatted politely sharing an interest and personal history. It was a lovely distraction from your normally loud life. He was soft and charming and couldn’t stop smiling. That bright smile that forced your lips to turn up at the edges. As you eased into conversation Scotty enthused about his work in engineering just bursting with pride and passion. When he had realized he had been talking for more than ten minutes straight he blushed apologizing.
“It’s alright,” you assured. “I like hearing you talk. It’s nice.”
“Tell me about Medbay.”
“It’s nothing. I love it, caring for people and all. But your engineers need to learn not to get hurt. I see like a day or two where someone from engineering doesn’t waltz in. Not to mention how often I see you.”
Scotty blushed again, looking down at his hands. “Well, I might have...hurt myself a few times to see you.”
You sat back with your arms cross, “That is both the sweetest and stupidest thing I think I’ve ever heard. Stop doing that. Okay?”
“No problem, Lass. I know it was silly but I just need a reason to see you.” You smiled at him as he messed with his napkin.
“You don’t need a reason,” you cooed softly.
After the bill had been paid you walked side by side quietly enjoying the simulated sunset. You let your hands dangle at your sides. You had been in this situation before on a first date and it was awkward, but this wasn’t. It was nice, comfortable silence. You went on like that for a bit, just enjoying the company you were in.
Suddenly you felt fingers brush against yours. You accidentally jumped, turning to look at Scotty who was blushing fiercely. “I-I’m sorry. I-I um, Can I hold your hand,” the question was soft and barely heard, but he made eye contact. Deep, emotional, wonderful eye contact that seemed to speak to you more than his words. You smiled warmly as you gently wove your fingers into his, not saying a word. With you both sharing a smile you took the remaining of your walk hand in hand.
No, you didn’t know a lot about love, but you did know that this was going to be something beautiful.

Story Summary: On your way to Chicago to search out new opportunities. Your car breaks down outside of a small town nestled near the mountains. Trapped for more than a week, you almost seamlessly fall into place. Which makes it even harder when you have to leave.
Pairing: Scotty/Reader (But it’s a slow burn so hold your horses), also some slight McKirk in the background because why not?
Warning: none in this one
A/N: I bring in more of the crew. Kirk is like a busybody, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Also THANK YOU! I have been getting overwhelming support for this story and I’m so excited to share this with you!!
EDIT NOTE: I MEANT ORCHARDS ORIGINALY SO I CHANGED THE SENTENCE TO INCLUDE BOTH ORCHARDS AND ORCHIDS. Just wanted to let you know.
Word Count: 1071
Part 1 Part 3
Marabell was a sweet old lady who welcomed you full heartedly and accepted you into her bed and breakfast, understanding your situation. “Well, just like Scotty said we’ll settle this when you are in a better spot dear.”
“Thank you. I honestly can’t believe you are all being so nice.” you went to pick up your bag but Marabell stopped you.
“Oh, let Pavel take care of that, that’s what he’s paid for. Pavel,” she called out, and a young man with a mess of curls appeared. “Help Y/n with her bags up to room four.”
“Aye,” he stuck out his hand to you. “Pleasure to meet you.” He grinned at you, picking up your bags with ease.
“You too,” you nodded.
“So you in town long,” he asked nicely looking back at you as he climbed the steps.
“As long as it takes for Mr. Scott to fix my car. Then I’m headed to my apartment in Chicago. But I’m sure I’ll have a good time while I’m here.” You smiled at the small room, it felt warm.
“I’m sure you will, shame about the car. But I have full confidence in Scotty, he’s amazing at what he does.” Pavel gushed, turning to you finally. “Enjoy your stay.”
“Thank you,” you waved as he left. You sat on the bed, head in your hands, this was about to be a long few weeks.
The next morning you headed down the diner. You had made an agreement with the locals about paying them back when you got to your new home, and they were more than accommodating. As you walked into the door you didn’t see the same woman from yesterday, instead was a younger blond man. When you sat on the stool he strolled up to you, “Can I get you some coffee?”
“Yes, thank you,” you responded. He placed a nice white mug down on the counter, filling it up with a practiced hand.
“So, you’re the drifter huh,” he asked casually, leaning towards you.
You nearly choked on your drink, “I-I well, I wouldn’t say drifter. I was trying to pass through when my car broke down.”
“Yeah, and now you are stuck here. You were and are drifting through. You’re a drifter,” the young man laughed and you searched for words.
“Jim, leave her alone,” a voice barked. You turned your head towards the source and spotted a dark haired man a stool away from you. “Don’t let him get to you, sweetie. He just has a complete lack of tact.” He smiled at you, his hazel eyes snapping. “Leonard McCoy, I’m the doctor here. That’s Jim Kirk, he’s….well he’s him.”
“Excuse you, I’m the devilishly handsome, blue eyed waiter. A waiter that swept you off your feet if you remember right.”
The dark haired one sighed, smiling as he looked into your coffee cup. “Idoit. Don’t go spreading our business to strangers.” There was a flush to his cheeks. “So, kiddo, you got a name or should we stick to drifter?”
Kirk scoffed in a playful manner, “And I have no tact.”
“Y/N,” you offered playing with your mug. “But I mean drifter isn’t the worst nickname I’ve had.” The men laughed, brandishing their wide grins. “It was nice to meet you, but I think I might check in on Mr. Scott. I’m worried about Atticus.” You stood up about to leave.
“Atticus,” Jim asked, “you named your car?”
“Yes, I know it’s silly. Just drop it,” you groaned. You stunned yourself on how you just talked to the stranger. You didn’t want to cause a stir but after years of teasing your reaction was second nature.
“Wait,” Jim called. “Before you go,” Jim disappeared a minute, then reappeared with a disposable cup. “Take this tea to Scotty. And call him Scotty, he hates ‘Mr. Scott.”
You took the cup from him and smiled, saluting him, “You got it, Captain.”
As you left Jim started to laugh, “Captain. I like that.”
“Jim,” Len warned.
“Maybe you should start calling me that,” the blond teased half heartedly.
“Jim Kirk,” he said again, eyeing his partner with a leveling glare.
“I’m joking, I’m joking geez, take it easy.”
“That’s not what I’m talking about and you know it, James Kirk,” Leonard leaned in trying desperately to catch Jim’s gaze. “Jim you can’t go meddling.”
“I have no idea what you are talking about, babe,” Jim tried to act innocent but his eyes gave away his plan.
“Scotty comes to get his tea after 10-ish. And now you are sending our little visitor with tea in hand,” Leonard pointed towards the door with emphasis. “I know what you are doing. Cut it out.”
“She named her car, Bones. She’s like made for him,” Jim defended.
“You don’t know jack shit about her, Jim! Plus she’s from out of town. As soon as that car is fixed, she’s gone.”
“I know she doesn’t have a ring,” Jim said confidently walking away signaling the end of the conversation.
“God damn it, Jim.”
As you walked into the small garaged you headed to the office where you spotted the mechanic. He was on the phone, pen held in the opposite hand tapping it lightly. You don’t know what it was, but you found it endearing. You watched as he dropped the pen covering his eyes with his hand in apparent annoyance. “You’re sure ya can’t get them in sooner? Laddie, she’s stranded here, I really need these parts.” He sighed heavily, “yes. Yes...Okay. Thank ye, Rodger. Uh, huh. Bye.” He looked up and his face broke into a warm smile. “Hi ya, lass.”
“Hi,” you smiled as he stood and rounded his desk. “I’m guessing that call was about Atticus?”
“Ah, he’s an Atticus, huh?” He shrugged and folded his arms, glancing down at his feet, then lifting his head to look you in the eyes. “Aye, it was. My guy can’t get the parts in for at least a week. Then I have to take a day trip to get them here. And I think the work will take maybe a week or more if I don’t stop.”
“So about two weeks then? Alright, sounds good. Thank you, Mr. Scott.” You grinned at him and he returned it with an equally bright grin.
“Lassie, if you keep calling me Mr. Scott I’m gonna need to charge ye more for my services,” his eye sparkled with mischief.
“Sorry sorry, Scotty. You like Scotty, right?” You fiddled with the lid of the cup, suddenly, for some reason feeling hot in his face. You looked down at the lid, finally remembering that it was for him. “Oh, here! Jim said this was for you.” You held it out to him without breaking eye contact. His hand brushed against yours, it sounded sound so cliche in your head but, it felt like a jolt of electricity. It felt like a short zap, followed by an extreme warmth that was gone far too soon.
“Well, that’s very kind of ya to bring this to me, lassie. Thank ya,” he said removing the cup from your grasp. After a few minutes of silence, he cleared his throat, looking away, biting his lip. “I-I was thinking. That we, well I, could show you around town. I know it’s small and all, but we have these orchids, and these orchards,” he looked at you trailing off.
“I’d like that,” you smiled warmly.
You stood there in silence for a minute, and then it seemed to sink in for both of you how close you were standing and how you were staring at one another.
“Tomorrow then,” he said louder than necessary, stepping away back to his chair. “Thank you for the tea.”
“Yeah, yeah,” you agreed backing up towards the door. “Tomorrow.”
