Series I, Part IV
SCP-017 - Shadow Person
It’s a shadow that eats you if your shadow intersects with it. Appropriately creepy. The article doesn’t state whether or not the shadow person is three dimensional. I’m choosing to believe it’s not, because it’s creepier that way.
9/10
SCP-018 - Super Ball
I like this one. It’s not creepy, just weird, and dangerous because it breaks physics. I love the idea of it.
9/10
SCP-019 - The Monster Pot
One of the first things that jumped out to me about this article was the line “If a successful method is discovered, SCP-019 is to be destroyed with prejudice.”, regarding the destruction of the pot. It’s just so blunt, and shows a side of the Foundation that is sometimes forgotten, I think. The “P” in SCP stands for Protect, and it’s about protecting the world from the objects. And this object just lets weird, small, violent creatures out. Forever. They’re relatively easy to kill, but they never stop coming. It makes sense why this is classed as Keter, and why they’d destroy it if they could.
8/10
SCP-020 - Unseen Mold
Mold already creeps me out a bit (thanks, Resident Evil 7!), but this one really takes the cake. What gets me isn’t that it takes people over, or even that it tries to get itself to spread. No, it’s that it grows on people and they (and others) wouldn’t notice unless they’re looking at them through some sort of camera. BRB, going to examine everyone I know with the camera on my phone before I do anything else today.
10/10
SCP-021 - Skin Wyrm
This is another one that’s just sort of weird, rather than necessarily creepy (these are fast becoming my favorite kind of skip, if you couldn’t tell). I like that it’s not just a tattoo that moves; no, it does indeed need to eat (other tattoos). That gives it a leg up on other, similar ideas.
7/10

Listen, SCP-021-J is honestly a wonderful idea. Evil Water Bottle by itself sounds fecking hilarious but also fecking existentially horrifying. We have SCPs that are even scarier and more existentially horrifying just by being a goddamned ROCK. I think an EVIL FECK OFF WATER BOTTLE is the top of the list considering the amount of water bottles we buy and consume. This is a valid SCP and WE SHOULD ALL TAKE IT SERIOUSLY (while simultaneously laughing our asses off at the hilarity of internet humor).
Guys holy shit there's something going on w SCP shit I just found out thru the reddit scp sub and I'm losing my mind so much I need to report on this OK like.
So there are joke scps. If u don't know. That are jokes. Usually digs at common tropes on scps like the rock that makes u procrastinate is probably the most famous joke scp. Or the one I can't find rn where the researchers in the article are critiquing the scp item for being too tropey.
But. There's a new joke scp. SCP-021-J. It was posted yesterday and it's fighting for its fucking life. It has been slingshotting between bein rated -5 to +12 this whole time. The discussion on it is wild people fucking hate it or love it. Hard-core scp ppl are goin on paragraphs bout how it's not funny, its not even anything it's jus the worst of 'lol random' internet humour. And then there's the enjoyers who are jus like 'lol mfer can't handle it'
And all it is. Is evil water bottle.
This is it. The entire article. Evil :(
And ppl are LOSING IT. the discussion is full of ppl talkin like this is a sign and example of how the scp site has fallen so far, that scps are all shit now and things like this are taking away from Actually Good Scps. That it's disgusting and horrible. Like genuinely here's one dude calling it actually problematic

And this battle in the forum is genuinely the funniest thing bout this article like this exchange shows it perfectly

This is SCP-021-J It was uploaded less than a day ago as of writing. I think it is safe to declare that it is already one of the most controversial pages on the wiki ever
And the comments too man omg. Ranges from shitposting to genuine serious discussion about the article
(there is more but i have stuff to do so i ant got the time to post it all)
To conclude:
I love the scp wiki man

SCP-3992, "The Manor"
(The page break denotes when it shifts from Foundation to Insurgency)
Item#: SCP-3992
Object Class: Thaumiel
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3992 has no current containment procedures due to its function as a stationary landmark that is designated as a private property to the public. All delivery people are to be questioned. The public should be dissuaded from entering on-premises. Those bearing Chaos Insurgency insignias are to be allowed free access to the property.
Description: SCP-3992 is a manor located at [DATA EXPUNGED], constructed by O5-4, originally for the purpose of living with his family. It was constructed in [REDACTED] and was continually updated all the way until the present day. The manor has an exterior reminiscent of the Harlaxton Manor, bearing incredible size and length. The front has an elaborate pinwheel gate and an expansive courtyard, complete with a pool, hanging gardens, and an innumerable amount of artistic statues, created by ██████
Following a meeting, the Manor became designated as the location where all of the overseers would live. To aid in their protection, O5-2 used what he described as "deception magic" over the interior of the building, causing the rooms to twist and manipulate, with the express purpose of aiding the inhabitants and leading interlopers to their demise.
Following a visit from another reality, the Manor became sentient and was assigned the designation of SCP-3992. The Manor has near full control of the property and seems to be powered by O5-4 and works in conjunction with O5-2 and his magic. SCP-3992 has shown several abilities:
the ability to manipulate a room's layout
relocate doors
connect rooms impossibly
manipulate flooring
manipulate most furniture
Operate humanoid figures such as suits of armor or statues. (It must be noted that a visible tell of such manipulation is the appearance of plant growth where it shouldn't be, a sign of the power connection between it and [REDACTED]
Create tangible illusions of objects, rooms, and entities
Despite its nature towards the inhabitants, no personnel are allowed on site unless given explicit permission by the overseer council.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Addendum-3992-A: Due to the impossible nature of the interior, mapping the Manor is futile. However, mapping attempts have shown recurring rooms, which are listed as follows:
Temple - seemingly a mix between Incan and that of SCP 8291, "The Deep Woods"
Chapel - Vaguely Christian in design
Art gallery - All art seems to be of the inhabitants
Drawing room - A room full of paintings and sketches. One claim of SCP-085 and SCP-021 being present has been documented.
Dining room - a grandiose hall fit for the consumption of food.
Kitchen (3) - Three kitchens have been documented throughout the location, the most used being the one adjacent to the dining room. This particular kitchen can never be connected to anything other than the dining room and the mudroom.
Courtyard - the courtyard extends around the entire perimeter, but is mostly referred to in the backyard.
Foyer - The opening room.
Gardens - There are a few gardens on the property, but the Hanging Gardens reminiscent of ancient Babylon are often recorded.
Astronomy room - One of the towers has a telescope, designed to view space scps, such as SCP-████
Statue room - A room full of statues, each designed like a former overseer
Bedrooms (50+) - Places where people sleep. The number is inconsistent, with as few as twenty (20), and as many as eighty-two (82.) However, the most consistent number is placed in the fifties (50s).
Meeting Room - While never mapped, a room where the council meets for discussions has to exist.
Tea Room - A Victorian-style room designed to have a soiree.
Toy Room - A room full of toys, presumably for O5-5
Music room - A room full of instruments. There exists a glass mosaic that cracks easily.
Summon room - A room with arcane symbols, runes, and a summoning circle.
MISSING room - DATA MISSING DATA MISSING DATA MISSING DATA MISSING DATA MISSING DATA MISSING DATA MISSING
Library - An expansive library filled to the ceiling with a variety of books, from kids books to ancient tomes.
Jungle room - A room that seems to be overgrown with plants. Multiple reports list a plane wreckage.
Infirmary - A place where the sick or injured are sent to
Mineral room - A place full of crystalized gems, built for O5-3.
Danger room - Appears to be a room to test out different weaponry.
Junk room - A room piled high with broken objects
Trash pit - Above the Junk Room. Acts as the main disposal system.
Repair ward - A room designed to fix robots and other mechanical entities
Casino - Serves no real purpose aside from entertaining guests. Has a bar.
Pantry - Connected to the kitchens. Stores dry food.
Recreation room - A room for entertainment. Has a billiards table and darts
Data room - An information hub that stores O5-13-ii. There seem to be data ports for other Ais. They seem to be named for them.
Warehouse - A storage room for the Manor. Allegedly there exists an instance of [REDACTED]
Clothing room - A glorified walk-in closet. Seems to double as a sewing room.
Bug room - A room full of insects and insect scps, such as 408.
Clock room - A room full of clocks. The purpose has yet to be known or revealed.
Dissection room - A room for the dissection of cadavers, used by one of [REDACTED]'s husbands.
Honey room - an extension of the Bug room, it seems to be a bee-themed room, coated in honey. Traversing through this room is not recommended.
Monitor room - A room with cameras that scan and search every room. Use this to confirm as many rooms as possible.
Sauna (2) - Two saunas exist on property.
Lounge (5) - While five lounges exist, only two have been confirmed so far as being real.
Crow Bridge - A bridge connecting to halves of the property together. An unnatural swarm of crows eternally fly around, attacking any who cross.
Hollow Tree - A partially hollow tree grows through the property. Uses unknown, as it seems to be very guarded.
Pumpworks - A room set aside to control all the water and pipes.
Circuit room - The electrical equivalent to the room above.
Workshop - A place for practical crafting. Contains a woodshop saw.
Mudroom - Connecting the kitchen to the outside, this place is where muddy boots are stored.
Aquarium - There exsists a room that is full of fish, including anomalous ones.
Archives - Connected to the library, and built for O5-1. Contains physical files of everything involving the Foundation
Parlor - Several anomalous maps indicate a parlor exists, although none have been mapped out.
Sewers - A sewer system exists, and it appears larger than it should be. O5-12 has set up a nest here despite the bug room existing.
Basement - A basement has been found via mapping equipment. An instance of [REDACTED] lives there.
Attic - An attic was mentioned several times by individuals as existing there.
Dragon room - A room for O5-6. Very spacious, and full of ice and seemingly active magma.
Firing range - A room for O5-7, O5-11, and O5-13. Houses an array of weaponry.
Gaming room - A room for O5-10. Large collections of video games and every console and accessory known to humanity.
Grand Koi Pond - A pond for O5-2. Features large koi fish and boasts a beautiful Japanese design
Relic room - A room near the foyer, housing many ancient artifacts discovered through past expedtions.
Clocktower - A clocktower in a steampunk fashion is nestled near the middle of the Manor. Physically cannot be moved.
Furnace Room - The heart of the Manor. Temperatures are deadly.
Freezer - A seperate room attached to the kitchens, acting as a universal teleport arond the grounds.
Train platform - There seems to exist a train station. Where it goes is unclear.
Servant passageways - While not a room, there exist hidden passageways that are used mostly by workers to navigate smoothly throughout the property
The Pit - Not to be confused with the Trash Pit, it seems the Pit is an endless crevasse. Maybe something lives in it?
Flooded Room - A room appears to be flooded by SCP [REDACTED]. Extractions requested.
Addendum-3992-B: There are a plentiful amount of workers that live on the premises as permanent residents. For a full list see [DATA CORRUPTED]. If the link is inaccessible, please consult your superior for a request of the list, should it be necessary for an excursion.
Addendum-3992-C: [REDACTED]
Addendum-3992-D: An artifact involving cheating death is at the relic room. This is a high-priority item to steal when you attempt the lives of the council.
I don’t even know what to say really. Having nightmares is normal for me but a water bottle? Nah man, no idea what is going on here.
It’s evil somehow.
I don’t like it :(
I decided to go back and look at the first SCPs to see if it really was just a bunch of Creepy Monster Guys, because I distinctly remembered a lot of creepy flesh rooms and creepy children rather than Slendermen.
Because the first one was a Slenderman, the Weeping Angel SCP-173 - the first, “dont’ break eye contact” guy.
But I couldn't exactly remember the order of release, and couldn't find a good chart of the ones after 173, so went to the SCP calendar (https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-calendar/date/2008.7/p/2), and looked at the next 24 to be archived after July 2008.
SCP-002 - the fleshy room that converts people into furniture. (FLESH ROOM)
SCP-004 - a door leading to a anomalous spacial environment.
SCP-006 - a spring with “fountain of youth” properties
SCP-015 is a mass of pipes, vents, boilers and other various plumbing apparatus completely filling a warehouse. The pipes grow and move when not observed, and are noted to be made of materials such as glass, concrete, and even flesh and bone (FLESH ROOM)
SCP-008- classified.
SCP-882 appears to be a random assembly of gears, cables, pulleys, screws, and belts, all made of an amalgam of various metals. Instills the urge to be ground in the gears in people around it. (Wants to be a FLESH ROOM)
SCP-007 - a guy with a missing stomach and a miniature earth in place. The guy isn't a Slenderman though.
SCP-013-ARC - a sphere that grants visions to religious people.
SCP-021 - a body-jumping parasitic dragon tattoo that feeds on pigmentation and ink.
SCP-030 - Ariel the clay-man (our second SLENDERMAN, but he's fairly benevolent)
SCP-037 - a 2cm wide star
SCP-042- a bizarre horse with bone spurs.
SCP-043 - a voice that speaks from the final track of the Beatles’ "The White Album"
SCP-132 – an empathic woman that secretes a black goo when overwhelmed with emotions
SCP-054 - water elemental undine thing (Two wet women in a row, and our third SLENDERMAN but she really doesn't do anything)
SCP-055 is a "self-keeping secret" or "anti-meme". (These things just start showing up everywhere)
SCP-053 - the 3-year-old girl who enrages people in her presence.
SCP-409 - the big self-replicating crystal
SCP-718 - the big self-replicating eye
SCP-162 - the tantalizing bundle of sharp things
SCP-455 - a large cargo ship with fleshy rooms (FLESH ROOMS on THE HIGH SEAS)
SCP-406 - the big self-replicating suspended flesh (Combining the two earliest tropes of the foundation, the FLESH ROOM AND REPLICATOR. It just needs a WET WOMAN and creepy child).
SCP-040 - another creepy child, this time, a mutater.
SCP-105 - a woman who can manipulate objects in photos.
So it did seem to start out with more of a dry tone of here's a weird object or a flesh room.
I’m going to use this a tool to look up the 25 most recent ones:
Scp-8595 - A cockroach who thinks he’s a food critic
Scp-8053 - a notebook with animated stick figures that ask you to draw a friend and then jump on the skin.
SPC-7000 - a guy who specializes in punching sharks. I actually stopped to check if this was an April fools thing, but I guess not.
Scp-8138 - a smelly guy.
Scp-8048 - a 20-inch-tall "Rippin' Reaper" Halloween decoration with dripping human organs.
Scp-zh-716 - a stele on the moon that projects an image of a six-fingered man.
SCP-8104 - “is a 29 year old human female transgender male, previously known as Atlas Keystone. SCP-8104 is 185 cm tall, with curly blonde hair and purple eyes1. SCP-8104 possesses impossibly comprehensive knowledge of most subjects, as well as a detailed memory of many SCPs that were beyond its former clearance level as an Ethics Committee Liaison. When asked, SCP-8104 claims that it has lived for 100,452 years. According to the object, every time it dies it "wakes up" on it's first day of foundation employment with full memory of its past lives.” Then the entry turns into a rape report.
SCP-8681 - the rotting skull of a beluga whale (Delphinapterus leucas) - one of those filler ones with no detail.
SCP-8499 - a patch of land in the Arabian Desert that gives individuals one of eight possible hallucinations of past lives of a mechanical humanoid of vast proportions with a feminine build, SCP-8499-A, featuring a man, his wife, and some followers.
Scp-6826 - Apologetic carrier, a bipedal creature that gives people Lyme disease and is partially rewarded during containment by churros
SCP-8042 is a black metallic cube that eats dogs
SCP-8416 - the frequency of the farside of the Moon that make people in certain random regions hallucinate a functional reality.
SCP-8478 - a Three-Portlands entity, is an anomalous theatrical experience known as 'Sense'. Ah, Three Portlands...
SCP-7383 is Branch Office 2 of the Surrealistics Division Headquarters Site. It’s another gag.
SCP-8350 designates an endangered species of intelligent polymorphs capable of human speech, named the Apaseans, with less than 200 remaining members, individually designated as SCP-8350 instances. Apaseans are distinguished from similar species of shapeshifters by their unique memetic ability to deceive and persuade others on a large scale and with significant efficacy
SCP-8220 is a three-layered vanilla cake with strawberry and blueberry toppings. A plastic ornament reading 'happy birthday' is partially buried inside SCP-8220 and can only be removed by an individual on their birthday.
SCP-8145 is contained within its own description, another one of those evil memes.
SCP-8155 - another one of those evil memes.
SCP-8069 an oinking clock that controls pigs
SCP-ES-115 - a train-station in Zaragoza, Spain but the trains are made of body parts. (This one needs a bit more work to make the creepy hit, but it actually feels like an early entry).
SCP-341-KO - a flying saucer made by a Korean elementary schooler and the cell phones she used to call home with (phone still works on Mars).
SCP-953-KO is a dangerous anomaly that takes over and mimics people.
SCP-8709- an alien intelligence that emits black body radiation. One of those words words words entries.
I don't know, I'm feeling the tone shift.
It's a sad fact that every long running universe based upon themes and tones of isolation, limiality, and cosmic horror gets worn down by overexplanation, overpopulation of the universe with entities, overuse, and eventually irony and financial exploitation. Derlething happened to Lovecraft, it happened to SCPs, it happened in record times to the backrooms.
Please note that this guide is solely suggestions, and the alteration of these rules is allowed and encouraged for unique stories. Also for my own sake the entire post is written out of character.
Writing in the Parenthis Anomaly is loose, strange and at times seems as if there is no coherency at all. This is because there barely is. The very fundamental structure is as follows:
The heading, with the structure of Case (Archivist initials and number e.g. John Doe, the 35th person to have the initials JD would be JD35) - LDR: (the case number in 3 digits, e.g. JD35's 21st case in the LDR would be LDR: 021), e.g. "Case JD35 - DRE: 021"
Meta data, containing - in the order as written - the date of the manifestation recovery in day/month/year AD/BC calendar type, the date of physical recording if originally recorded physically in the same format, the date of recording in the digital records (LDR), the date of the entry's writing, the name if present of the writer of the entry ("unknown" if well, unknown), and finally content warnings, followed by a cut for ease of reading
Mild introduction, typically containing how this instance of the Anomaly was located and the presiding Archivist alongside other pertinent information
Main text, containing all your grotesque ghouls, ghosts, and gargoyles. All Archivist notes and interjections, such as descriptions of images, are in [brackets] in the main text
Last comments from the Archivist, such as speculation, theories, and - if you want a long term story over your writing - tidbits of lore pertaining to your overarching narrative
But as previously stated, this format is meant to be broken, and should at best be an easy scaffold to build your stories off of.
As for the actual structure, I would recommend looking at this post as a framework for the styling, though edits to make your writing feel a touch more personal are completely fine.
You can really choose who you are, and how they write. The general way it should be is that you choose a name for an Archivist you would use as a origin for your cases, but if wish to have several or change names for overarching stories a la Magnus Archives, then please feel free.
Also please note that there is a repository for which Archivist names belong to which writers, so if are adding new names please update that post!
A big part of your writing and its style should be from the exact type of manifestation you choose for the story, i.e. a journal might have a set of sporadic journal entries over a the course of a few months, or a computer might be a chat forum between a few users. As a result there is no coherent way you should write your stories, and I highly recommend using the unique features of each medium, such as images in the digital world or the obfuscation of information via incomprehensible text in physically written texts.
As for the monsters, creatures, or otherwise Big Spooky Thing that is the origin for your case, I would recommend doing the same the SCP foundation does, which is avoiding both basic "scary monster that kills you" and "really powerful guy with a sword" archetypes. If you are in a creative block and just need to write anything, do feel free to write one of the previously mentioned and there is no hard rule restricting that, but it is a heavy suggestion that you avoid them. Monsters and spooky objects should be interesting, have their own rules, or lack thereof, and be a mystery for the reader to unravel.
Due to the nature of the Parenthis Anomaly, there is really no consistent lore or canon - sans the nature of the book - between cases, and as such you can write about any world, history, magic system, and lore your heart desires. Hell, you can even write a case into your own OC lore or AU of a pre-existing story if you want, provided you have the proper exposition and explanation for readers who might not know the lore of them.
Writing overarching stories across cases, crossing cases and plot with other writers, canon-incoherent/bending cases, and any other degree of writing-shenanigandery is not only allowed, but heavily encouraged for experienced writers! I would recommend looking towards stories like the Bright Sessions, the Magnus Archives, and the Mayfair Watchers Society for a good example of the format, i.e. a episodic "monster of the week" with a slowly building narrative between them.
An lastly, there is no bar for quality in the Parenthis Records! So long as you maintain the rules (refer to the first guide)
you can always contribute, veteran writers and first-time writers alike! The Records are about fostering a community of artists, not expecting professional team or collective of writers.
