SCPs were a big part of my life during my early years on the internet. I started my journey into internet horror with creepypastas then stumbled across the SCP wiki.
The first SCP I read was SCP 087, so this one holds a special place in my heart. As many young fans, I quickly fell in love with 049 and my fascination with old school medical equipment and practices help solidify this guy as one of my faves.
I think the first SCP that actually made me feel a bit freaked out was SCP 2718. I had been reading SCPs for a couple of years by that point but the creativity of this one and the narrative was so good that I often think back on this one with nostalgia.
SCP 1762 made me tear up. Is it dumb to feel sentimental over paper dragons, yes. But by golly did I want to learn origami after reading this one. In a similar vein, SCP 2295 made my heart feel warm. I love the horrific stories told in this community but the love and selflessness of this bear made this SCP one of my favorites. The hopelessness of the last log with this bear felt familiar to me which puts this SCP in my top 5. SCP 2006 surprised me in how much I liked it. I do like subversive stories in horror and the use of old school horror monsters for the inspiration was so good.
I had left this fandom due to life junk a couple of years ago, but now that my life has been returning to a new normal I wanted to visit my old favorite pieces of media. I want to jump back in with the numerous SCPs that have been written since my absence and hopefully find some new faves. I heard of some of the drama in the community in passing but I have very little knowledge of most of it.

VIEWING OF SCP-ABF APPROVED
.
SCP#: ABF
Code Name: How to Bring the Dead Back to Life with Wifi
Object Class: Apollyon/ Neutralized
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-ABF cannot be contained and evacuation from earth without allowing the anomaly to spread is impossible. As such, the Foundation is left with no option but to initiate Protocol "No Humanity".
Update: 2006/false - Global bombardment was a success. SCP-2000 is to be activated immediately.
Update: 2006/true - efforts to prevent SCP-ABF form existing are successful, SCP-ABF is to now be classified as Neutralized. Mobile Task Force Kappa-10 "Skynet" is responsible for reviewing all Foundation collected data on SCP-ABF as well as ensuring it never revives.
Description: SCP-ABF is a frequency that can spread to all forms of technology through signals and the internet. Once a technological device has been infected by SCP-ABF they become another transmitter as well as a host of its anomalous effects. It has unfortunately been proven that once infected the technological devices don't need to be powered in order to maintain the frequency.
SCP-ABF connects to a purgatory like afterlife where the dead feel absolutely nothing. Being deprived of feeling anything only to suddenly be connected to our world these souls naturally have no qualms attacking the living even if they are loved ones. SCP-ABF allows these souls to interact with and even steal the life force of any living being they come across.
The entities with SCP-ABF feed on humans by either possessing them or eating their life force through physical contact. When they possess humans, they typically forcing the host to end themselves, allowing them to feed on all the life force instantaneously through death. When they feed through physical contact however, they normally leave the victim with necrosis growing on the skin where contact was made. According to reports made by Foundation survivors of SCP-ABF a single second of contact with an entity is enough to cause massive and irreversible damage to the body. The longest someone can survive having contact with an SCP-ABF entity is 5 minutes any longer and the victim will turn to dust.
This is unfortunately the full extent of what the Foundation is aware of regarding SCP-ABF, the entities, its infection through technology. It's unknown if the entities that feed on life force will be resurrected or perhaps change somehow if they absorb enough life force. It has been debated on weather absorbing lifeforce allows SCP-ABF itself to expand, or if lifeforce is the only thing that keeps them going like how a vampire needs to regularly drink blood. It's also unknown whether or not those that get killed by the entities within SCP-ABF will become similar entities themselves after death.
SCP-ABF was discovered in 2006 by Foundation forces on earth, somewhere in the US. Information on SCP-ABF's origin is limited as the anomaly spread too fast leaving Foundation staff on earth fragmented and torn apart in the ensuing chaos. The only reason the Foundation was able to obtain any of the information was form archives hidden in Foundation sites as well as survivors who managed to stay alive during orbital bombardment of earth. Unfortunately, there is no way to obtain more information as SCP-ABF is so dangerous that to reactivate it even for testing purposes would lead to another XK Class End of the World Scenario on earth and possibly the entire solar system.
Though the threat of SCP-ABF has been neutralized, the undead entities still exist, as does the purgatory they originated from. It should also be noted that this dimension so close to our reality it can be accessed through frequencies alone. However, what these frequencies are and how to obtain them have been classified by the O5 Council. Anyone coming close to finding them again is to be found, amnestied, and their work destroyed by MTF Kappa-10. All information on and any information relating to SCP-ABF is to either be destroyed or encrypted to ensure the existence of this purgatory, the nature of SCP-ABF, as well as how to access it are never brought to light.
"There's still so much we don't know about the afterlife. For some they seem to go to the Abyss, others go to the Variegation, and some just seem to actually turn into ghosts. It's different for everyone but the question is why? Why does death affect everyone differently and why can't we ever predict let alone understand it. Further studying is required, I guess. You know I honestly don't know why people find death and the afterlife so scary, I think it's fascinating." -Dr. Bones

A bit like SCP-2006 where he's classified as Keter (one the most difficult and dangerous containment classes) even though he seems harmless because his destructive potential is so great that the Foundation puts a lot of effort to keep him harmless.
New OC: Greg the Underachieving Omnipotent
He's got the potential for a near-limitless ability to warp reality and absolutely no motivation or drive to put in the effort to unlock the vast majority of it.
The government pays a lot of money to employ agents whose sole job is to keep Greg distracted and satisfied.
