🎨 Face Study # 17 How head is Structured. Structure is often overlooked in favor of getting features correct. Assessment/lesson: I failed to draw an accurate likeness from my reference. Although not accurate, this doesn't get to me as long as I learned something from this study. To perfect structure you must understand what's going on to the 2D reference like as if it is a 3D in form. 🎨 Face Study # 16 Skin Color. There is no such thing as a “skin” color. Skin color is essentially a combination of all 3 primaries: red, yellow and blue. That's right. Red plus yellow plus blue. 🎨 Face Study # 14 Flipping the portrait. You can check the proportions on your portrait with the use of a camera, and by flipping it in the Autodesk Sketchbook(or other applications).You'll find it weird once flipped. Artists flip their drawings because it helps them see their mistakes. They can view their drawings from another angle and notice the incorrect parts of their work – that they can then easily fix after flipping the canvas back. If you are able to see the basic forms through all the "noise", you will be able to paint a more convincing image as you will have a better feel and understanding of the subject (reference of a portrait).
